Importing PowerPoint charts and data entry

Hi
I am relatively new to captivate 5.5 and need to find out how to bring a PowerPoint web chart(similar to a pie chart) into captivate with the data series entry table. I want users to do in captivate what they can do in PowerPoint to create a chart. Do I have to create a link into PowerPoint. If so, how?

No Jeff, do not think that will work.
Why not do an automatic capture (Project Recording) with Captivate while doing the actions in Powerpoint? You can choose for demonstration, training simulation (that is what you will need) or assessment training. It is even possible to have the three files at once.

I do not want to make any postings other that automatic roll up of P&L into rollup accounts like Retained earnings. What will be the effect If I enable the functionality "Block Posting and Data Entry" for these accounts?

According to my understanding and experience, this option is useful to refrain the local users from posting on the opening movement type => this opening position should be be calculated by the system during the carry forward only. The exception is the period of the system initialization, i-e the first closing period in BCS, where the opening MT can be impacted by anyone, on all Posting Levels.
This assumption also means that the central users (i-e users who perform the "top" consolidation activities) shall not be impacted by this option : they are thus allowed to modify this MT during cons group change activities (PL02, 12, 22) and top conso adjustements (PL30), whatever the period.

Report Designer - Chart and data

Hi,
I have a query section. In one of the cell, I have a chart. I have the data in other columns on the side of the chart. When I execute the report designer, I get the chart and the then the data below on the side. When I create a pdf, the data moves up to the side of the chart. I want the web view look like the pdf view where the data is on the side of the chart. Is it possible? Why is the web view and the pdf view different?

SSAS2008 r2 and Excel Line Chart and Date Axis

Excel 2010. SSAS 2008 R2
I have a excel line chart made out from SSAS pivot table with a date dimension (date) and No of licences.
Currently, it displays 1/Jun/2014 to 30/Jun/2015 (FY2015) and this looks really ugly.
While keeping the details, I'd like to display by Month-Year.
However, while I can do this with other normal excel data, I just can not do it with SSAS Pivot table.
Under Axis options, I ticked 'Date axis' but it won't bring up date options.
I think I tried everything but just can not figure it out. I wonder if it is even possible.
Th date dimension is recognised as date because I can apply date filter. I want to make it neat. Can anyone help me with this please?
It must be 'Date' Level.

Could you please elaborate more detail regarding the "Date" dimension structure? In order to display the date format with Month-Year, we should build a hierarchy to organize the granularity of date dimension at SSAS level. Please

Exporting charts (chart and data behind it)

Hi there,
Im new to Flex and Air but I have come here because Im looking into a way to export a chart from an application we have to excel. At the moment we are able to export the data behind the chart but not the chart itself.
I have come to two ways of doing this:
a) keep the existing export options and then use a VBA macro lib to create charts or (and this is where you come in)
b) export a excel 2007 xmlx file.
if you are not familiar with this its a new format of excel that is defined by XML script that are in a variaty of folders that are then zipped.
My idea is to have a standard 'template' that Flex (Air?) can ammend the chart.xml in the xmlx and the sheet1.xmlx and the zip and rename the file.
So what i need to figure out is if and how to get Flex (Air?) to export a zip file
any help would be great!

I have a simply spreadsheet with 2 columns showing dates and electricity readings.
Ive added a chart so I can see the electricity usage over time, but its showing each date eqidistant rather than showing them on a timeline.
Can anyone tell me what Im doing wrong?

Looks like Numbers cannot plot date data. Please provide Numbers Feedback to Apple.

Importing music, artwork and data base from external hard drive

I purchased a MacBook to use primarily as a music server. I have an external hard drive with over 300GB of music files ripped from CDs in Apple Lossless with a computer using Windows XP. I also have another external hard drive formatted for the Mac. My goal is to attach both drives to the MacBook via USB and transfer the music files, album art, and iTunes data base from the Windows system hard drive to the new Mac formatted hard drive. Then I am going to reformat the Windows system hard drive to the Mac format and use it as a back up for the other hard drive. Has anyone ever done something similar? If so, I would appreciate some guidance. If possible, I want to do the above so that the file names and artwork from the Windows itunes system do not get changed or left out when making the transfer to the Mac system. All music files will still be in ALAC. Thanks to all for your help.

Lots of programs out there from which to choose. In the meantime, don't access the drive.

Business Graphics in WebDynpro - bundle chart and data sheet

Hi experts,
I have a simple chart with stacked columns in a WD4A application.
At the bottom of the chart I'd like to display the values of each column.
I know that it works in ABAP reports (CL_CU_DATA_SHEET).
Does anybody know how to do the same in a WebDynpro?

I cheked all examples in WDR_TEST_EVENTS but couldn't find any that fits.
The class <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/de/70/8fa0375b5dd003e10000009b38f8cf/frameset.htm">cl_cu_data_sheet</a> does exactly what I need, but only with SAP GUI.
I still hope that it will be possible to do the same in a WebDynpro.

After looking at the API for JavaFX charts, it looks kind of similar to JFreeChart. Are charts based on JFreeChart code? If so, why isn't the DateAxis class included?

As for the lack of a DateAxis, I think there is an RFE for it, it just didn't get done.

Tabbing and Data Entry Performance With Forms

Hello,
I am using Adobe Reader 11.0.2 on Windows XP. I've found that there is a lag between the time I hit the tab key to move between form fields and when my cursor actually moves between the form fields. I've also found that there is a lag between the time I type information into a form field and when the information actually appears in the form field. This is especially true with numbers. There have been times when I type numbers and only the first few numbers appear. I waited 30 seconds for the information to appear and it didn't, but as soon as I hit the right arrow on my keyboard, the numbers appear with my cursor at the end.
I've tested the PDF in other readers to determine if it was the file, but I have found that other readers do not have this issue.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Yes you can define it at infoprovider level as well in planning application,If you are using IP then go infoprovider tab in RSPLAN Tcode,there you will see CR tab in lower panel - where you can specify characteristic relatioship and how to derive.
Similarly you can use in BPS as well.

CATS - adding WBS Short Text to Data Entry Section

i got the wbs short text to appear in the work area but it's not showing up in the data entry section. It's all setup in CAC2 under worklist and data entry. Am I missing something else ?. There looks to 5 core fields in the data entry section and using CAC2 - i can take any of those fields away and add them back but cant add any other columns to be displayed

Thankyou for your response.
The Short text i mentioned is not the text of the attendance / absence code. It is the additional message one may want to associate with the record being entered.
It can be seen in a pop-up window in CATS whenever the hours field of such a record is double-clicked.
When i try to transfer such a record with an additional short text assigned to it in CATS to HR (CAT6/CATA), the short text does not transfer.
Could you help me find a way to transfer such short texts to respective HR infotypes (IT2001 / IT2002)

How to export/import new SCV and products?

Hi,
I have created a new product, product version, software component and software component version in the SLD.
Now I need to import that to another XI system with a different SLD. The product, product version etc. is unknown in the target XI system.
How/What do I have to export all these new things?
If I try to export/import the SCV, I get the following message during import:
"The target namespace for the special import already contains data for one or more export lines. Continuing this import may corrupt the state of your data.
Import CIM models and data to the current namespace: sld/active (Database).
Ensure that this import will not cause an inconsistent state of your data.
If you are uncertain about the consequences of this import, you should cancel it. "
Do I need more export/import steps? That means: First the product, than the product version, than the SV and finally the SVC?

Upgraded to Elements 11 from 9. Form windows 7 to MacOS. Events and dates seem to have been lost

After importing catalog, events and dates seem to have been lost. People tags imported OK. Thoughts?

Same issue. I have multiple ATV2 and ATV3 - none could access home sharing after updating to 11.1.
I've learned my lesson from previous iTunes updates, so I always have a backup of my library. So I uninstalled 11.1 and deleted every iTunes folder I could find on my drive (important because I didn't do this the first time, and home sharing did not work). Then I restored my library from backup (iTunes folder), and installed iTunes 11.0.5. Home sharing works, with:
ATV3 with updates
ATV2 with updates
ATV3 without updates
ATV2 without updates (not tested yet)
Yea, so something is wrong with iTunes 11.1 with home sharing. Hopefully Apple will address. If not, hopefully they will support 11.1 for a very long time.

Running Captivate 8 on a Macbook and I am unable to import Powerpoint 2011 (which is up to date) files or slides. I get an error saying that either the file is damaged or I am using an older version of PP....which is not the case.

I tried creating a very simple PP file with just a few words on one slide...ran a compatibility check and all was good. Still could not import that simple slide into Captivate.

OK...found out it did not like me saving as a *.pptx. When I save it as a *.ppt file it imported in correctly. Is this what I will need to do moving forward? I am not sure if I am losing any functionality in the process...

Extending DataFinder to include Non-Data Entries and Relationships Between Entries

I am trying to create custom data centralization and management software for our lab with DataFinder Toolkit. In addition to storing data from data acquisitions, I want to be able to store additional information with the data such as images, pdf files, word documents that can be easily accessed after finding the data. My current idea is to handle external files by storing the filepath in a property of an object vs trying to store the data itself in the datafinder database. My code would know how to open these files so the user can see them with external software or a custom labview app.
I also want to be able to store non-data objects such as an object that describes a piece of test equipment or a sample through properties and external files. Images and documents are again important here. And then create relationships through unique barcoded IDs that are a property in the datafinder entry. So not only could I look at the data, I could find information about the samples and lab equipment. Or anything else we think needs to be saved.
The code I am writing around DataFinder would be in charge of maintaining the unique IDs and know how the relationships between those IDs work to generate the proper queries. Like a 'Get Test Equipment Used' button next to a search result.
For the external non-data objects I was going to use Labview code to create a file with all the information about the object (unique ID, properties and external file paths) and create a plug-in so the datafinder will index the file and make it searchable.
Does this seem reasonable? I like the idea of working with one system and having everything update based on adding, deleting and modifying files in a folder. Also, I like the idea of not splitting the data management up into multiple technologies and having to make those work together.

From the description, you've given the system seems plausible. The non-data elements you discussed when broken down are just additional data to associate with an object. Storing file paths seems plausible as done in the community example below:
