Importing sound with a player
This is being much harder than I was led to believe…
I wanted to add a sound file to a SWF file with a simple player that would let users control the sound like a movie file.
According to the help files: "You can import an FLV file or F4V file with sound only and no video. A sound-only video file can be controlled like other videos. Use this method to control the playback of large sound files, such as narration or soundtracks."
Great.
Now how do I turn an mp3 into a FLV or F4V file?
Thanks!
Hi Niles,
You can use the Adobe Media Encoder, which is installed with Flash Catalyst, to convert MP3 files to FLV or F4V. The help for Adobe Media Encoder is here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/mediaencoder/cs/using/index.html.
Thank you for pointing that out, I will add a link in Flash Catalyst's help to highlight this. Feel free to comment directly on pages of help whenever you find information unclear, your feedback helps us constantly improve our learning content. Thanks for posting!

No sound with Flash Player under OSS in Linux
Flash 9 & Flash10 under OSS 4.1 with Opera or Firefox.
No sound at all on any flash using website. Websites such as
the BBC that have some content in RealAudio or Windows Media
formats work absolutely fine for non-Adobe content but Flash player
content produces no sound.
All other audio software works flawlessly - Skype, Real
Player, Mplayer, Kaffeine, Wine, Games (ETQW, Doom3 etc), Helix,
RhythmBox, Rosegarden.
Whatever the fault is, it's an Adobe fault - fix it.Ditto with me. No sound with Flash Player in both IE and
Firefox. Sound works with other applications. -

No sound with Flash Player on both IE and Firefox online

On local hard disk, all is OK.
The firefox "about:cache" command on the mp3 file info says :

Why can't I import sound with video into iMovie from digital camera?
This is disturbing. I have a digital video camera that took great video + sound. I import into iMovie (using my DV cable that came with the camera) and get video but no sound.
Now, in the past the sound came in, but no longer. Any and all advise is requested. I have to make number videos of lectures starting Wednesday evening and have to be able to provide video with audio.
Thanks.Try importing video shot with the camera's internal
microphone. If that doesn't work either, the mic is
not the problem.
I have no problem importing sound with video when using the internal video camera mic. No problem (other than sound quality issues with the speaker being 40 feet away from the camera's internal mic!
But I can play back the video made with the external mic in the camera and the sound is stunningly clear, crisp and loud. It's just a matter of getting it out of the camera into my Mac. I don't think it's the microphone; it must be the computer.
I just find it sad to believe that Apple's software is so limited--even in Final Cut Express HD. -
WILL THERE EVER BE SOUND with Flash Player?
I must use Version 11 or later of Flashplayer to view and listen to most of the material that I need on a daily basis. Very recently (within the last two months) this reqt has become paramount across many sites, including cable tv, professional instruction, etc. I have downloaded upgrades, uninstalled current versions, re-installed, followed NUMEROUS sets of advice, tasks, etc. I have upgraded to Internet Explorer 10. I run Windows 7 professional. I do not care about Google Chrome.
I just want to be able to hear sound again. There is nothing wrong with my hardware.
Please tell me how to successfully get rid of whatever the latest upgrades did to remove sound capabilities. Thanks.Do you hear sound with either of these two videos?

Since updating to Flash Player 11.8.800 when i listen to sound from music websites such as spotify and youtube, the sound is jerky. It is worse when I use google chrome, but not so bad with internet explorer. This ruins the pleasure of listening to music. I've done a search on google and a lot of people are experiencing similar problems. Can anyone help me with this problem please?

Hi,
I started having this problem last week. A lot of sites with embedded video players play without sound for me (youtube, etc.). This doesn't happen every time and I've found that it happens most often when I set the video to play in HD(720). Sometimes I'll hear sharp sreeches or cherps instead of sound. Sometimes, after waiting 5 mins and trying to play the video over and over, it will suddenly start working.
I'm running in Winodows XP s.p. 3 32 bit and my broswer is firefox, though I don't believe it works in chrome either.
What I've tried:
Reinstalling firefox
Reinstalling flash player 10
Changing my speakers settings to 2/2.1 speakers.
Installing flash player 9
I've had the most success unintalling flash player 10 and installing flash player 9. All my sound issues are fixed! However, now I cannot play video at all on some sites, because they require flash player 10!
I'll looked on the internet, but noone seems to know how to fix this, please help.I did the ten step codec cleaning, I think you posted that originally if not
I'll dig up the link, sorry I'm at work. After that I ran malwarebytes (no
malware), then I accessed the audio properties under the control panel and
monkeyed with them, they'd been changed to modem#0 from my normal semantec
harware. I changed that and rebooted and everything was seemingly okay.
However, the little speaker icon had disappeared from the tray about the
same time my audio problems had started and has never returned so there may
be deeper issues.

the codec link I was referring to. Hope this helps. D -
My sound stopped working for my flash player for my browser.
It was working one day, and now NO sound for any flash items I view
on the net. I can't hear anything with Youtube, or any flash site.
what would cause this to happen?Yes, a very FRUSTRATING problem!! After months and months,
and trying everything I could find in the forums, I discovered that
my Audio default device (go to Control Panel, Sounds and Audio
Devices, Audio tab - Sound Playback default device) had somehow
gotten set to some Modem such-and-such... instead of my
Soundblaster. I changed it back to the Soundblaster and OUALA - I
have Sound again!!! Now when I go into the control panel, that
modem doesn't even show up as a choice for the default device. Not
sure how it got in there in the first place, but I'm so thankful
that it's fixed.
Lots of helpful solutions here too:

Hello,
After installing Flash Player 9 (extra/flashplugin 9.0.31.0-1), I get no sound when viewing flash content. I have verified this against multiple web sites. I can view the flash video with no problems.
The sound on my previous flash version was fine. Also, the sound on my other applications (multimedia and games) still works fine. My alsa configuration has not changed (to the best of my knowledge).
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks for your responses twiistedkaos & mouse256. I launched firefox from the command line, but no error messages were received when viewing flash content. Also, I do not have additional flash support installed (only the latest flash plugin from the extra repository).
I am loading modules snd_emu10k1 and snd_pcm_oss in rc.conf. If I remove (do not load) snd_emu10k1, then I get sound from flash, but no sound from media or games. When I load snd_emu10k1, then I have sound in media and games, but no sound from flash.
This has turned out to be an alsa configuration issue. My flash 9 sound is fine now. -
Speaker crackling sound with media player on Equium
I have a problem with my speakers, anytime i go to use media player, all i hear is a crackling sound from them, any ideas.
Hi
Does the crackling sound appear since a first day?
Does it happen if you play CD's or watch movies?
Maybe some codex are missing.
Did you try to update the sound driver? If not so check it.
However, I have also read that sometimes a new OS installation could solve such issues.
I don't know why but possibly some files on the HDD could be damage. -
Problem Importing Sound With Video
I'm trying to import a quicktime file into Flash 8 basic and
I'm having a problem with the file's audio track. The video comes
through fine but the audio won't import with it. I've tried
bringing the file in as an embedded video and a movie clip,
importing to stage, importing to the library, integrating the audio
track, making it separate. Every time I check the audio box in the
properties bar all it says is "none." I'd try that linked Quicktime
video option but my Flash doesn't support it. I can only embed the
video in SWF. Any ideas about what's going on and how I can fix it?Could be that the audio format or resolution/bitrate is
unsupported. Probably the easiest solution is to just convert the
QT file to AVI before importing it. -
No Sound with Flash Player 9 on ubuntu 7.10
I hear no sound when I play back flash clips on my ubuntu 32
bit 7.10, using Flash Player 9.0 r48. I downgraded to version 7 and
had sound, only to find that the 7 version has a known bug where
audio/video get unsynchronized after some time. Now I am back using
current 9.0 r48, and have no sound at all.
Any hint? Thanks for your responses twiistedkaos & mouse256. I launched firefox from the command line, but no error messages were received when viewing flash content. Also, I do not have additional flash support installed (only the latest flash plugin from the extra repository).

I have imported a WMA-file in Audio-1 track of PE – still no sound to hear. But I can see the sound in the track. (Like in my video-clip) Therefore I also think it is a setting in PE. Will you be so kind to tell me where I have to look? Because I am no expert. Or is it possible that I have to activate anything in PE? It is first time that I will work with PE 9.
Further information: The original sound of the Mini-DVD is 5:1 surround. After first problem I have changed Nero to export in Stereo, but this did not solve the problem.
Thanks and regards
Werner
