Importing spreadhseets from input forms for bulk uploads

Hi,
I believe you can export the results of a report / page to an excel spreadsheet, but can you import a spreadhseet for bulk upload from an input form ? The reason I am asking is we don't want to allow the users of the input form "developer" rights (i.e loading spreadsheets from SQL workshop), but we do want to allow them the ability to bulk populate tables from spreadsheets. Alternatively can you set the developer rights to only allow bulk uploads and nothing else ?
thank you
Tim

I'd like to know this too.

  • Is there a way to Search (List search) for more then one field text from a column for Bulk uploading?

    I've been trying to find more information on this and I apologies if this has already been answered. I just don't know the correct way to ask this. We have a SharePoint List at the company that we have people input information into different columns. The
    problem is most of those information are very repetitive. Is there a way for me to search more then one field text in the column and just input that same information in?
    ex:
    Column 1
    Column 2
    Date:
    883851
    MidWest
    User input
    8831518
    MidWest
    User input
    On the search field in the SharePoint List, I would need to search for 883851, 8831518 etc,  would view those requested numbers, then I would click edit and change dates to those rows. Does that make sense? I'm sorry I'm fairly new at sharepoint.

    I think what you're asking is about having repetitive options in a list, show up easily for new items being created.
    This can be done by setting the columns that contain repetitive information to Choice fields.  In the configuration of the Choice field, check the box for "Allow custom values".  Now as users are entering data into the list, the dropdown of options
    for a given field grows and users can quickly see and select previously entered and thus repetitive values for the given fields.
    I trust that answers your question...
    Thanks
    C

  • Variables to a BI Query from input form and chart?

    Hi,
    I have a query (QUERY A) to which I connected an input form to define the variables. The output is a chart which tells us a status overview.
    Now I want to use the input form as well for entering the variables for QUERY B. This is no problem as the variables are passed through correctly. However, I also wanna filter on status by selecting the status in the chart. This does not work unfortunately.
    Situation:
    INPUT FORM ----------> QUERY A ---------------> CHART----------------------------
                                      |                                             |
                                      |                                             |
                                      |                                             |
                                      ----->QUERY B <--------------------------------
                                                  |
                                                  |
                                                  ----------->OUTPUT (VARIABLES FROM INPUT FORM AND CHART}
    Is this possible at all?
    Best regards,
    Jan Laros

    Hi Jan,
    I suspect that you are only partially passing the variables in two separate select events.  You should be able to meet your requirement with the following approach:
    1) Connect a select event from the output port of the form to the input/variable port of Query B.  In the input parameters reference both the relevant form fields AND the chart fields you want to filter by;
    2) Connect a select event from the output port of the chart to the input/variable port of Query B.  In the input parameters reference both the relevant form fields AND the chart fields you want to filter by;
    In other words, each select event link should reference the same fields from both the form and the chart.
    Regards,
    Mustafa.

  • Input form for creating an xml document

    are there any utilities which will help me to create an input form for an xml file. The requirement is to come up with a form which will help me input data which can be saved as an xml file.

    Thanks Camalot,
    I was just thinking of selecting images from the finder but if this could be integrated into Aperture's export dialog that would be even better.

    myHidden = hidden
    myText = test
    myCheckBox = Value 1
    myCheckBox = Value 2
    myCheckBox = Value 3
    I would like to know if i want to get back the parameters from the form ,
    is that i must use Enumeration.
    Because i have tried request.getParameter() to get the value of radio button, textbox, checkbox and select menu, but it get the null values.
    Also, the function of Enumeration does not get the values of parameter in sequence as html form. e.g.In the html file, the first parameters should be textbox,but it displays the radio button's values first.
    How to solve the problem .
    Thanks

    This sounds like a bug in the smart upload code. I have used this stuff before, but it's probably an older version, so maybe they broke something. Enumerations aren't usually guaranteed to keep things in any particular order. I would say for now, make a method to take the enumeration and a param name to find the value. And write to the JSPSmart people.

  • Issue with showing input forms for update SQL statement

    Hi guys - I'm currently doing a college project and I'm not overly experienced in the area of Java/JSP but I'm having an issue with a project. I have a JSP project inserting, viewing and deleting rows from a database but having an issue getting the update/modify function working in my project.
    If I hardcode values into my variables and launch the project it updates fine, but I believe theres an issue with how I'm calling the existing rows. I wish for the user to be able to view the rows from the database and modify as they wish. Once they submit the modifications, I want the row to be updated. Can anyone see where the problem might exist in my code below? I hope it's something small, but I'm not able to fix it at the moment and would apreciate anyone's help! :)
    The problem I'm facing at the moment is the input boxes for displaying the current rows from the database are not even showing up..

    I support what ThomYork suggests. Learn how to properly separate database/business logic from your view logic. Learn how to use servlets and JSPs together. Read abourt DAO classes. Learn how to build a view in JSPs using taglibs (JSTL to begin with).
    You might think it is too much work, but if you learn this stuff the wrong way now, it is going to be that much harder converting to the clean, readable, reusable and maintainable way later on.

  • Using elements from input forms to use in reports...can it be done?? XML maybe?

    Hi,
    I am required to create a large number of input forms. For each form item, there is a heading to describe what the form item collects and also additional descriptive text, such as units of measurements etc.
    I intend to create a report that will loop through and display this captured data on a per day basis. As there could be several forms of data multiplied over several days or weeks, this will return a lot of data
    eg.
    Day 1
              Data 1
              Data 2
              Data 3 etc...
    Day 2
              Data 1
              Data 2
              Data 3 etc...
    Day 3
              Data 1
              Data 2
              Data 3 etc...
    etc........
    In addition to the data captured in the database, i also need to furnish the returned data in the report with the headings and descriptive text that was on the forms so that the context of the data is apparent.
    I have thought about how  i may acheive this
    1. check each data item returned and append the appropriate text (could involve hundreds of checks against hundreds of data items....Yikes seems like a bad way to do this
    2. maybe theres another way....reading around i wondered if XML could be used ( i have no experience with XML)
    if the form was constructed with XML, and when the report runs, the returned data is able to be linked to the appropriate XML section and the descriptive text could be appended, rather than be subjected to numerous if...else statements....is this feasible with XML? how could i achieve this?
    Sorry if this is unclear or not what XML is about and i'm way off...I'm learning this stuff as i go along so only have the internet and forums to bounce ideas off.
    Thanks for reading this and if you've got any ideas about how i might achieve this with XML or not...i'm very open to suggestions
    Cheers

    Database is MySQL

    Ok, let's take this one step at a time.  First what database type is this going into?  Pointing you in the right direction for that is the best place to start.
    >> MySQL
    Next when you talk about returning the data to a report, are you using a reporting service or what are you trying to do here?
    >> HTML/PHP report created with Dreamweaver with queries to recordset
    Depending on what needs to be done, the type of database and the complexity of the data, I have found that simply entering the data into the database and running a query out of a Sharepoint server or even Excel will usually suffice unless there is something in play that we don't know about.
    >>  Yes i can query the database and use those results, what i also want to use is the extraneous elements, such as headings, descriptive text e.g for an input field that captures temperature, you would have
    Heading              Input element                     Descriptive text
    Temperature:      [ Input temp in box here]     degree centigrade
    I want to know if there is a way of reusing these from my forms into my report by using XML, rather that some onerous checking process to append the text to returned data.
    Thanks for taking the time to consider this..

  • Opening a secure web page from oracle forms for credit card validation

    Hi All,
    I searched for the topic in the forms forum but couldn't find a solution.
    Requirement: As per some compliance, our application cannot do a credit card validation from our forms application, instead we need to use a java code which a third party will provide ,it's an iframe (they say, i am layman when it comes to Java, don't know what is it), but they say that, within your forms application you call our iframe do the credit card validation over there get a token of response back from us and use this token as a confirmation in your application.
    Problem: I could not find a solution anywhere wherein i can call a web page from forms. Now, this web page should be modal, i.e. unless i close this page i cannot access my forms application. Please guide me if anyone has done that.
    Secondly if i could make it work, how will i communicate with this external web page, like getting back some token value and use it back in my forms application. I am completely clueless.
    As we are using Oracle designer for generating forms, we cannot use a bean type thing as designer does not have the bean-item type defined!
    Appreciate if anyone could provide me pointers for a solution to this problem statement.
    We are on forms 9i -- Version 9.0.2.11.0

    The simple way to do it is to use a PJC (java bean) + apache httpclient library..
    If you have a webservice than you can use Axis library and wsdl2java to create java classes from wsdl.
    also you can use httpclient library to simulate http protocol (request/response actions)..
    (for example.. you have a credit card number.. you post this number to specified URL and then you parse the response from credit card validation server)..
    Post here some documentation (specification) on how to call the credit card validation .. (maybe it's a secure webservice?)
    Here you have a httpclient library documentation:
    http://hc.apache.org/httpcomponents-client-ga/tutorial/html/index.html
    Also you can implement bean area in designer.. If you need help I can post here how we do it in our project..
    also look here: Call webservice from PJC over https protocol

  • Removal of Buttons from Adobe form for PCR Approval

    Hi,
    I am using adobe forms for PCR approval using the Business object method EXTSRV-PROCESS. The binding parameters are as follows,
    <b>MODE = &Displaymode&
    REQUEST_NO = &Notification.Number&
    DESCRIPTION = &Notification.Description&
    IFV = A</b>
    The display mode passed as parameter is 'Change'.
    The problem is i am able to see all the 5 buttons (Approve/Reject/Return to Author/Compete/Exit) but I want only the Approve/Reject/Exit buttons to be seen. I found the following thread with more or less similiar requriement but unable to find a solution from it. Any suggestions on this?
    Buttons for ISR_APPROVE & ISR_PROCESS appearing in Workflow
    Thanks,
    Prasath N

    Hi Prasath,
    Long time before even we too had a similar requirement...But we were not able to solve the problem. Luckily, USER is convinced with going ahead with those 5 buttons.
    Will surely keep you updated in case if I get to know any solution.

  • Global Variables passing from standard form for use on custom form

    Hi,
    I'm trying to grab a value from a standard form, and pass it to a new custom form, which I am opening automatically from the standard form via personalizations. Is anyone aware of a way to send a value from one form to another? I was going to try using a global variable, which it looks like you can set through personalization. I tried doing it by passing the value as a form parameter, which works if I hard code a value, but it doesn't work if I refer to a value from the standard form.

    in your E-Business-environment may exist some special codings, which you have to think of, when passing parameters through the application.
    Copy the question to your EBS-Forum. They know ways using personalization and passing parameters

  • RUNNIG CRYSTAL REPORTS FROM ORACLE FORMS (for oracle report team too)

    I WANT TO RUN CRYSTAL REPORT FROM THE ORACE FORMS 6i how can i
    run this if any one has syntax or any detail please send me
    or reply
    thanks

    Ask the Crystal support forum how do you invoke their tool from
    a command line.
    You can then use host command from forms.
    You can also try and find out if they have an OLE2 interface and
    then work with the OLE2 package in forms.

    I would like to set firefox to never save informations that I write on transaction web sites.
    I would like to set firefox to never save my credit card number.
    How can a do this?

    Firefox should recognize the credit card number automatically and not store is as part of saved form data.
