In attempting to log in, desk top reverts to login screen

On iMac attempting to log in, after inputting pass word, the computer flashes back to the login screen

Hello,
I have a new apex 4.1 install on 11.2.0.2 db using Oracle's HTTP server on 64-bit Windows 7. During installation, I pointed "i" directory to c:\download\oracle\apex.
I have the same problem that my http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex/apex_admin page is blank.
Browser Firefox's error display pointed to "apex is not defined" in the following two lines of code:

I could not find dads.conf or apex.war files.

  • Is there a way to log attempts to log into a system from a login window?

    We have all users log into their systems via a login window. I've noticed that if I go to the "Other Users" option and attempt to login with some bogus user name and password, none of this seems to be logged anywhere.
    For example, if a system has been set up to allow, say three user id's, like TedK, JenniferH, and ThomasT, and they all are allowed to login to the system, if someone (like a stranger) should scroll down from the login options, select "other" and then enter "root" with a password attempt, none of this seems to be logged anywhere. I am NOT talking about doing this through SSH or any network, I mean at the keyboard itself.
    This logging doesn't seem to be available. Is there some system setting that can be set to turn this sort of thing on?

  • Logging in sends me to the login screen again. Over and over....

    Have an old MacPro (early 2008). Used to have OS 10.6.8 but subdued to the temptation and installed Mavericks last week.
    Regretfully, it made my machine slower than ever. I mean REALLY slow. I tried various remedies to no avail.
    Eventually, I realised I had to go back to 10.6.8.
    Installed 10.6.3 (from the disc  I have) to another 1Tb drive. Transferred accounts, applications, etc, from the Mavericks drive.
    Booted from the fresh 10.6.3 drive. No problems. Could log in to every account (three) and as root. Nice.
    Then updated to 10.6.8 and that's where I hit the brick wall.
    Regardless which account I'm trying to log in to, I'm reverted back to the login screen after a while.
    No error message, nothing like "the password doesn't match" or anything. Just kept in this loop.
    Have repaired the disc using the OS on another disc. Fixed permissions, etc. No go.
    Hints, anyone? Please?

    If the re-install didn't fix the problem, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • TS1398 ticket  41535, my ipad has no wifi so i am using a desk top, not a touch screen

    I replaced my ipad yesterday at the apple store, wifi worked there when I got home I typed in the wrong PW & now
    it won't let me log in to my wifi

    The correct password is printed on the router's label.
    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • Desk top oversized

    Hi,
    I have 27inch i mac, however, recently the desk top screen has become oversized. I now have to scroll up, down and across to access the various tool bars and dock etc. Does anyone know how to get the desk top to fit the screen?

    Welcome to the discussions. Perhaps you inadvertently entered this mode by holding down the Ctrl key whilst scrolling up with the mouse. If so, to return to normal, hold down the Ctrl key whilst scrolling down. ...From a comment in this Magnifying With a Touch article:
    "...if you have a mouse with a scroll wheel. Just hold down the control key when when you scroll up to magnify, *and scroll down to return to normal.*"
    Settings are in the Mouse section of System Preferences with an Options button for more settings. Also:

  • Tool bar stays on desk top when browswer closes

    I have used Firefox for over a year. I updated to the latest edition as recommended. Since then, when I close the browser, the top (tool bar) remains on my desk top while the bottom (screen) closes. there is no response to clicking X and the only way to get rid of it is to restart the computer. I thought it might be a problem with the installation, so I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it. It seemed to be fine until it happened again. I uninstalled Firefox again.
    I have been upgrading as recommended, but I would like to go back to what I was using before. Can you help me with this?
    I absolutely love Firefox and have recommended it to others, but this is driving me crazy.

    You need a another blank external powered hard drive and the disks that came with your computer.
    The first one stick it in and reboot holding the c key, select Disk Utility under the Utilities Menu on the Installer screen and select your EXTERNAL hard drive on left side and click erase, format HFS+ journaled and click erase...   (use the same drive name as the internal drive of the Mac)
    Once the drive is formatted, quit Disk Utility and use the installer to install OS X onto the external drive. Reboot holding the option key down to select the external drive to boot from.
    Run the setup and use the same user name as you did before, enter your network info and use Software update to get current on OS X 10.6.8.
    Then access your internal boot drive and grab a copy of your user file folders (Music, Documents, Pictures etc)
    You can now choose to download Grand Perspective, a free program to help you visualize where your data is and hogging up your machine. Your going to need to remove some data off the boot drive to another drive. Usually Video is a BIG data hoggers.
    Remmeber to keep TWO copies of your data at all times, so since your deleting some off your problem drive (and may need to erase it, you need two other copies)

    You can decide here what your going to do, if by taking data off the drive the computer boots fine and everything is normal then your ok.
    If not you can choose to erase the drive using disk utility on the external and c booting off the installer disk and reinstalling 10.6 fresh that way, then you install programs from fresh sources and finally just some files from backup.
    Use Activity Monitor in your Utilities folder to keep track of your drive usage, it should never go more that 75% filled, less than 50% filled is ideal for best performance.

  • Trouble assigning an App to a desk top

    I have set up about 9 desk tops for my most used applications and most of the time it works really well. But occasionally I open an application and it opens on a desk top that it is not assigned to.
    An example is Excel for mac.
    Excel that is assigned to Desk top #3, i open the file from finder that is on Desk top #1. The screen then gets swept over to Desktop #3 and the excell tool pallet and menu bar opens but the actual spread sheet is still on Desktop #1. I can also go back to Desktop #1 and start editing the spread sheet there. 
    It is not just because it is a microsoft application i get the same sort of thing happening in apple's applications like Numbers.
    I didn't have this problem with spaces in Snow leopard
    Does anyone else encounter this problem, and does anyone else have a solution?

    Is the Application installed? if so you may need to use the uninstaller that came with it. look in the Applications folder for the application and its unistaller. If it is installed and there is no uninstaller you should be able to drag the app to the trash, as long as the application is not open.
    Sometimes applications that are on the desktop are not the application but the application image file or dmg file, that is used to install the application. Does the file on your desktop end with dmg, like xxxxxx.dmg ? If it does, go to the finder app and look for that file in the left column in the DEVICES sections. The click the eject icon to dismount it. Then ou can drag the xxxxxxxx.dmg file from the desktop to the trash.

    First,upgraded OS on PB and rebooted desktop and PB.
    All seems to be well. I find ONE app I'm intersted in EE101.
    So I Log into BB Appworld that is sat., then I'm told to connect my device to proceed and asks for a password.
    Submit password. It will not recognize my PB ID password even though I made a password change and changed the recovery question and noticed the new recovery question is now on my desk top App  World log in .......
    OK now what.

    either sync using i tunes;
    e mail them to your self
    or try a third party transfer program such as photo symc or Transfer  (photosync works pretty good.
    If you are using one of those - and if it is not working, try sending smaller batches.

    Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
    *Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

    Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
    (Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
    If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
    If 10.7.0 or later...
    Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partitirion & use Disk Utility from there.

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
    Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
    Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
    Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
    The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
    Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
    After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

    You: Now my CD Disc drive with the CD in it has refused to word. I have no way to sign in. I tried to get the set up through my control panel but it says install is trying to work and to retry but that will not work

    You: It brought up the install window and when i clicked on the install button it saad that installer was running and that I needed to close other adobe windows but only the customer care window is open

    Manoj: Now go to Processes tab.
    Manoj: Click on Show processes from all users option and then check if there is any Setup.exe process is running.
    You: FireFox.exe *32 is large and running
    Manoj: No, please ignore it.
    Manoj: Check if there is a process named Set up.exe running in the processes tab and end the process if it is listed.
    You: There is no Set up.exe running listed on the page
    Manoj: Okay.
    Manoj: Try to start the installation now and check.
    Manoj: May I know the status please?
    You: I went to the Applications list and there was two Elements 13 there and one was running. I now have just one running but when I tried the installation again it just sent me to the sign in page which will not accept my old or new pass word

    You: This says it will take 50 minutes to copy them. Is that correct as i have to go some place soon?
    Manoj: The files are huge in size, so it will take a while.
    You: It now says there are 14 minutes remaining

    Manoj: If you want to try installing the application later, you can try installing the application from Desktop by running the setup file from the desktop app.
    You: There is still 8 minutes remaining. When this gets loaded to the desk top then what do I do.
    Manoj: Once the copy of files is completed. Remove the disc and then open the desktop Photoshop Elements 13 folder, run the setup file in that folder to start the installation.
    You: Ok. It still says it will take another 5 minutes to load

    You: Ok. The loading to desk top must be done & I have removed the disc

    You: i tried running the set up file but it says other items are open. I tried to close the one for sign i again and it will not close.
    Manoj: May I know the error it is showing as while trying to close the other installation window?
    You: The sign in window keeps asking for a ID & Password. When i put them in is says I must reset the pass word

    Manoj: Close that previous installation window which is asking to reset the password and run the setup file now from the new folder which we copied now.
    You: I said it would send notice to my email but I checked both the email and the junk mail and nothing arrived
    Manoj: Robert, since the previous installation is started from the disc, we need to close that window and start installing from the desktop Photoshop Elements folder.
    You: Ok I got everything closed and will retry

    You: The installer initiation ran and now I am back to the same problem.. When I try to sign in it says I need a new pass word but nothing happens
