Hi, does anyone know how to display a big value such as 100000 as 100,000 on a column chart

Hi, thanks for the answer. I believe you are refering to a different type of chart / technology... I am using htmlb chart and there is not tag for format. We're still running Web As 6.20 so I might be missing some options included in a later version.

  • Flash Chart Format / Mask Numbers

    Hi everone,
I want to ask you if someone know how to put in a format mask to the numbers on a flash chart, for example, instead of display 2542169 displays something like this: 2,542,169.87
I created an example flash chart in order to show you more clearly: http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=33253:10
    Thanks a lot!,

Edit your Flash Chart Attribute. Go to Axes Settings attribute. For attribute Show Group Separator select 'Yes'. for attribute Decimal Places specify '2' and you'll get what you are looking for.

  • Portal Form: Number Format Mask Accepted Values

Hi, i'm trying to format the way numbers are displayed in our forms, specifically instead of 50,000.00 we want 50,000 - without the .00.
I cannot find anything on format masks in the portal documentation, and the standard oracle masks I have looked up such as "NNNN" etc don't seem to be supported.
Trial and error has yielded a mask of : 99,999,999 which does get rid of the decimal, but introduces a problem where if the value is smaller than the mask it is shifted into the middle of the field (leading spaces are being added for every missing unit that is specified in the mask), but obviously if a smaller mask definition is used then larger numbers appear as ###### which is worse than the leading zero problem.
Where in the documentation can I find the accepted forms of numerical number format masks for use in portal forms?
    Thanks..

Let me know if you find a solution to this. I even asked my Oracle instructor and she couldn't tell me how to setup a date format mask. This is what she gave me which doesn't work, but I'm not saying I'm the quickest race car at the track. lol
    "Hi,
Try the following format mask "("099")""-"099"-"0999. They have an example of this on page 7-12. I'm not sure if OTN may have a listing of any Forms format mask. Search under Forms Developer and see if you find anything.

  • Line chart with mutiple value formats

    Hi,
I have a chart built with Crystal Reports 2008 with two column lines.  One of the lines represents Quantity and the other line represents Percentage.  I set two Y axis (Y1 for Quantity line and Y2 for Percentage) for the two lines.  My problem is that when I set one of the lines' value format as Percentage, value format of both lines become percentage.  I cannot set one of the line value formats as percentage and the other one as number.  Would you please advise how I can set one of the line's value format on the chart as numbers and the other one as percentage?
    Thanks,
    Al

    Hello Al,
How exactly are you setting one of the lines' value format as Percentage?
And what are you setting it to be a percentage of? or are you trying to dsiaply one series data labels with a percentage symbol?

  • Date format Mask in Source Value Expression

    Hi there ,
I am in situation where I will have to have a Formate Mask in the "Source" for the Page ITEM.
Last refresh date for tables:  &P76_DATA_LOAD. I have the source as refered above. I want that &P76_DATA_LOAD. to have mm/dd/yyyy format mask . How do I do it ? ANy help will be highly appreciated.

    Hi,
only a string that holds a data will have format masks.
The way your date column shows up in your database is set up using nls_date_format parameter,
If you want a string you can just use TO_CHAR(P76_DATA_LOAD,'mm/dd/yyyy')
If you want your date column to be displayed as above then change the nls_date_format parameter.

  • Charts: fixed series formatting

    Hi there,
    following scenario:
I use a column chart in order to display 12 months rolling values (ACT, BUD, PY).
Initially only one column (ACT) is shown per month.
I have got three checkboxes (ACT (always checked), BUD, PY) that allow the user to display additional values per month.
A query with three key figures (ACT, BUS, PY) in rows serves as datasources. In the properties of the chart "ACT" is selected initially.
Using the checkboxes a script adds the additional values by using "setDataSelection".
    Now my problem:
I need to have fixed series formatting with regard to colors. That means ACT should always be blue, BUD red and PY grey. Independent from selected checkboxes.
If the user checks in the following order ACT - BUD - PY everything works fine. If he e. g. then unchecks "BUD", PY appears red and not grey.
It would be great if anybody has a hint.
    Thanks a lot in advance
    Mark

    Hi Mark,
I am not sure if this is possible directly, since a lot of Flexibility is there in the Chart component(in terms of changing the type dynamically, settind data selection etc.) the chart is built in such a way that the Data series colour is based on the no. of series and not the Series name
If this is a complete necessary specification, then you have a workaround,
If ACT is always shown, then create two charts
    1) Create a chart with 1st series as Blue, 2nd as Red, and third as Grey.
    2) Create a chart with 1st series as Blue, and 2nd Series Grey,
    Scenario 1: ACT & BUD: Chart 1
    Scenario 2: ACT & BUD & PY: Chart 1
    Scenario 3: ACT & PY: Chart 2
If even ACT is controlled by Checkboxes, things will be a bit more complicated.

  • Date Picker (Application Format Mask) YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI

I am experience what appears to be a bug with the Date Picker (Application Format Mask) that is causing the "DD" portion of the format mask to be interpreted as "CC" (when using a YYYY-MM-DD Application format).
Within "Application Builder", "Edit Attributes" I have defined a "Static Substitution Strings" with the required Substitution String of PICK_DATE_FORMAT_MASK and a Substitution Value of "YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI" (without the quotes).
When this is used within the application, and I select a date of "January 15, 2008 @ 23:14", the date picker gives me a date of "2008-01-20 23:14". If I were to change the Year to 1957, the date I get is "1957-01-19 23:14". Note that if the century is 20, no matter what day of the month I pick, I get DD=20. If the century is 19, the day of the month is always 19.
I have also tested this with a format of YYYY-DDD HH24:MI. With this format too, the DDD gets set to the century portion of the year.
DD-MM-YYYY HH24:MI format does work, however this is not the format that my end users want to see. They want to see the format as "YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI"
If I change the PICK_DATE_FORMAT_MASK to "YY-MM-DD HH24:MI" and pick "Feb 8, 1977" I get "77-02-28" and if I pick "January 9, 1921" I get "21-01-31" which just happens to be the last day of the month in each of those case.
So, something really weird is happen with the "Application Format Mask" Date Picker.
Please note, that because of a known bug (relating to the translation of the Browser Language of "en-ca" to the propery NL_LANG of ENGLISH_CANADA) refer to
HTMLDB - HOWTO Work with Dates
I am executing the following code in my first "On Load - Before Header" and my first "On Submit - After Computations and Validations"
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'ALTER SESSION SET NLS_DATE_FORMAT=''YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI''' ;
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'ALTER SESSION SET NLS_SORT=''FRENCH''' ;
Could you please investigate this problem.

    Paul,
Thank you for the feedback and detailed reporting of this issue.
This is a previously identified bug with the computation of the day component of the popup calendar.
This correction will be available with the next HTML DB patch set and/or the release of HTML DB available later this year.
    Thanks again.

  • Changing the format mask of a numberic field in a  report

    Hi,
I'm fethcing some numeric values from the DB and displaying them in the report. I'd like to use comma as the decimal separator but I can't get it to work. I'm very lost with all the NLS settings. I've tried using the format mask ad '9999990D00' but it still displays as dot as the decimal separator. What do I have to do in order to use comma as the decimal separator?
    Thanks

    Try putting
    SRW.DO_SQL('alter session set NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS='', ''');
    in the Before Report Trigger.
The setting might be reused for the next report if Reports is set to reuse the database connection.
To avoid this, I guess you change it back to default in the After Report Trigger.
    Hope this helps!

  • Using a datepicker with format mask MM/YYYY gives error on submit

I'm trying to use a datepicker with the format MM/YYYY.
The item is linked to a database column of type DATE.
The items displays correctly (month and year), but when submitting the page, I get an "ORA-01843: not a valid month" error from the built-in DML process.
Shouldn't Apex apply the same date format mask to the item value when trying to save it to the database?

  • Date format mask in Enter-Query mode

    Hi,
I'm developing a Form which is able to query the masterblock from a detail-item.
The queryable detail-item is a date field and has a datatype: DATETIME. When a new record is entered the values in the date field are stored in the database like "18-10-2002 15:04:02"
When the form is in enter_query mode the user must be able to enter 18-10-2002 (DD-MM-YYYY format mask, so without time mask). When execute the query with this date format the query is not able to find data.
I used a Key-Execute-Query on the detailblock like this:
    SELECT 1.COLUMN
    , 2.COLUMN
    INTO :1.COLUMN
    , :2.COLUMN
    FROM TABLE.1
    , TABLE.2
    WHERE 1.COLUMN = 2.COLUMN
    AND TO_CHAR(1.COLUMN,'dd-mm-yyyy') = to_date(:avg.datum,'dd-mm-yyyy');
    Can anyone please help me?
    Regards,
    Ronny.

    Hi Ronny,
I'm not sure to have got exactly your issue (especially why you have to use that select in master-detail query), but I suggest you to substitute
    ...AND TO_CHAR(1.COLUMN,'dd-mm-yyyy') = to_date(:avg.datum,'dd-mm-yyyy');
    with
    ...TRUNC(1.COLUMN) = TO_DATE(:avg.datum,'dd-mm-yyyy');
To be fair, I would use it in the where clause, even if you set it dinamically.
    Let us know,
    Marco

  • Applying date and number format mask

I have specified a date format for an attribute and a number format for another attribute of an entity object using Entity Object Editor - Control hints for the attributes.
    The date format is:
    Format type: Simple Date
    Format: dd.MM.yyyy
    The number format is:
    Format type: Currency
    Format: 0,000.00 km
When using <c:out value="${bindings.MyDate}"></c:out> the format mask for the date is applied and it looks good, but when using
    <c:forEach var="Row" items="...">
    <c:out value="${Row.MyDate}"></c:out>
    </c:forEach>
the format mask is not applied.
When it comes to the number format it is not applied no matter what I use.
I have tried setting the format for the view object attributes as well but the result is the same. How do I make this work?

Can it have something to do with <html:form> ? Since it works using <c:out value="${bindings.MyDate}"></c:out> inside a html:form.

The report region displays no rows (even though there is one row in the table), no links, and even more strange, it show the value of APP_USER where it would normally display the results.

    Josh,
Your end result on page 58 and the instructions in that document link don't seem to correlate. Regardless, I:
    1) Copied page 58 to page 158 in your application.
    2) Removed the BLOB format mask from your report link.
    3) Changed your query to:
    select "ROWID",
    "DOC_ID",
    "DATE_ADDED",
    "USER_ID",
    dbms_lob.getlength("FILE_CONTENT") "FILE_CONTENT",
    "FILE_NAME",
    "MIME_TYPE",
    "DOC_NUMBER"
    from "#OWNER#"."DOCUMENT_LIBRARY"
    4) Specified the BLOB format mask for the FILE_CONTENT column.
Seems to work just fine now (on page 158, that is).

  • Presentation Variable Optional Format Mask

    Hi,
On page 45 of the Answers documentation at
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10415_01/doc/bi.1013/b31767.pdf
It says that you can specify an optional format mask for a presentation variable:
    ##Start Of Extract##
    @{variables.<variableName>}{<value>}\[format] - for presentation variables
For example, @{variables.myFavoriteRegion}{Central} - inserts the value of the
    presentation variable myFavoriteRegion.
❏ variables - prefix that is required when you reference a presentation variable in a request.
❏ variableName - a reference to an object available in the current evaluation context. For example: @{variables.myFavoriteRegion}.
❏ value - (optional) - a constant or variable reference indicating a value to be used if the variable referenced by the variableName isn't populated (is undefined).
❏ format - (optional) - a format mask dependent on the data type of the variable. For example: #,##0, MM/DD/YY hh:mm:ss, and so on.
    ##End Of Extract##
Has anyone got this optional format mask to work? I've tried things like:
    @{pv_my_date}{01/01/2009}\[YYYY-MM-DD]
hoping that it would render the 01/01/2009 into 2009-01-01 format but to no avail. Annoyingly there are no examples of a format mask being used, and I can't see any examples in Paint or Sales either, so maybe the documentation is wrong.
But wouldn't it be great if it did work - render dates into exactly the format you want, regardless of what locale the user is using!

Try to look into that prompt column to see why you are getting different date format.
If it is not correct as per you application then I would suggest to correct it using column->Data Format and then Save.
I would suggest to convert the filter to SQL format to handle it, you may get it after Filter... button add date and then use Advanced button. using SQL you have options to do it.
    Thanks

  • 4.2 blob download format mask not working

    I am using Apex 4.2
I have been working through the book Beginning Oracle Application Express 4. In chapter 6 the a blob is added to a report.
I have pasted the code example into the report definition (albeit with my own page numbers) :
    SELECT
       "TICKET_DETAILS"."TICKET_DETAILS_ID" "TICKET_DETAILS_ID",
       "TICKET_DETAILS"."TICKET_ID" "TICKET_ID",
       "TICKET_DETAILS"."DETAILS" "DETAILS",
       "TICKET_DETAILS"."CREATED_ON" "CREATED_ON",
       "TICKET_DETAILS"."CREATED_BY" "CREATED_BY",
       dbms_lob.getlength("ATTACHMENT") ATTACHMENT
    FROM
       "TICKET_DETAILS"
    WHERE (("TICKET_DETAILS"."TICKET_ID" = :P5_TICKET_ID))
I go to the report attributes and click on the attachment column.  I enter the suggested format mask
    DOWNLOAD:TICKET_DETAILS:ATTACHMENT:TICKET_DETAILS_ID::MIME_TYPE:FILE_NAME:::inline:Download.
When I press apply I keep getting :
    1 error has occurred
"" not found. (Go to error)
I have confirmed that the query runs and that P5_TICKET_ID does exist on page 5.
Not understanding what this meant I tracked down this page
17.10 About BLOB Support in Forms and Reports
and the section "Providing a Download Link" seems to confirm that the above format mask is correct.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

I've also done the exercises in the book and it worked for me.
Your format mask is correct. But before pressing submit you also have to enter the blob column attributes:
    *Format Mask (Value Required):                   DOWNLOAD
    *Blob Table (Value Required):                       TICKET_DETAILS
    *Blob Column (Value Required):                   ATTACHMENT
*Primary Key Column 1 (Value Required):     TICKET_DETAILS_ID
    Primary Key Column 2:
    Mimetype Column:                                      MIME_TYPE

    Last Updated Column
    Character Set Column:
    Content Disposition:                                    ATTACHMENT
