Flash Chart Format / Mask Numbers

Hi everone,
I want to ask you if someone know how to put in a format mask to the numbers on a flash chart, for example, instead of display 2542169 displays something like this: 2,542,169.87
I created an example flash chart in order to show you more clearly: http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=33253:10
Thanks a lot!,
Fury

Edit your Flash Chart Attribute. Go to Axes Settings attribute. For attribute Show Group Separator select 'Yes'. for attribute Decimal Places specify '2' and you'll get what you are looking for.

  • Flash chart formatting

    Hi everyone,
Can someone explain or point me in the direction of some documentation that can explain how to format the apex flash charts?
I'd really like to be able to edit the colours on the chart beyond the inbuilt 'Look1; Look2' etc
    thanks heaps!

Nevermind, apparently once you create the chart you can then use custom colours.
    My mistake :)

  • In chart component value format mask

Hi, I wrote chart component. In display options page I want to set value format mask. I want to show the value||%(percent symbol) for example 40% . I set value format mask 999.99% but it doesn't show. How can I do this. thanks.

I calculated percentage but I want to show axis value with % symbol. For example
    Nevzat -------------------- 40%
    Ali -------------- 20%
    Hasan -------------------------- 60%

  • Numeric formating on Flash Charts - How to?

    Hello,
I have a 2D Flash Chart in APEX3 that uses a numeric field for the "Value" in the Series. It works, but since the number is large, the resulting Chart is hard to read as-is.
I want to format the "Value"/Y-Axis column (adding commas) but haven't been able to figure out how to do this. Each to_char or other format trick I try results in a Chart Query Validation error, things like
to_char(col1,'999,999,999') or (col1/1000) or anything really,

I saw that tip on an existing post when I scanned the forum and I tried it without effect, but I must have not hit Apply or done something else wrong; once I set the group separator, my commas appeared.
    Thanks Raj.

  • Changing the format mask of a numberic field in a  report

    Hi,
I'm fethcing some numeric values from the DB and displaying them in the report. I'd like to use comma as the decimal separator but I can't get it to work. I'm very lost with all the NLS settings. I've tried using the format mask ad '9999990D00' but it still displays as dot as the decimal separator. What do I have to do in order to use comma as the decimal separator?
    Thanks

    Try putting
    SRW.DO_SQL('alter session set NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS='', ''');
    in the Before Report Trigger.
The setting might be reused for the next report if Reports is set to reuse the database connection.
To avoid this, I guess you change it back to default in the After Report Trigger.
    Hope this helps!

  • Formating Numbers Using Word Format Mask

    Hello!
Usually i use this format command to format my elements inside of each layout ( '<?format-number:Total_Price_w_o_Tax_ID12;'999G999D99'?>' ) but in this specific case i have one form field that contains the sum of a xml field ( ' <?sum(current-group()/Taxable_Ammount_ID9)?>' ) and i cant use format-number command to the format so i tryied with word format mask #.00##0,00. My problem is when i have for exemple 75 with 00 decimals it appears '75' and i want '75.00' . if i have 75.29 i dont have problems . Someone know how i can get '75.00' instead of '75' ?
    Thanks in advance

Instead of using format-number, could you do this?
    <?xdoxslt:pat_format_number(sum(current-group()/Taxable_Ammount_ID9), '#.00', $_XDOLOCALE)?>

  • Flash chart - Error - No chart data available

    Hi
I have a Flash chart that shows the message "Error - No chart data available" (not the no data found message).
If I run its query in sql*plus (using the same parameters) I get 4 rows (with url, label and value columns). I am clueless about how to start investigating this as the chart does not show any other information... Any advice?
What does that message mean? Obviously is something different from no data found?
    Thanks
    Luis

    Hi Marco
Thanks for the reply. I did what you said and found out the problem:
chart Flash Chart error: ORA-20001: get_data error: ORA-20001: Fetch error: ORA-01843: not a valid monthThis was caused because I used the following construction:
where date_from = :p5_date_fromIf this was a report, this would run fine as I set the date format mask using a application level process. However, as Flash charts use separate database connections, they ignore that setting (btw I posted a message about this problem).
I fixed it hardcoding a format mask in my SQL. Not nice but it works!
    Thanks

  • Number format mask of text item is not applied

    Hello all,
I want to format a number like 999G999G999G999G990D00

    See http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=53873:2 for example
Btw. is it possible to set the format for all numbers in the application at once? I want to have a thousand separator in most cases.

    Hello Jacob,
Btw. is it possible to set the format for all numbers
in the application at once? I want to have a thousand
separator in most cases.I am using substitution strings for things like that. You can define some "global" substitution strings on page application definition.
So you just have to put in the format (999G999G999G999G990D00 ) in there once and give it a name. Let's say NUMBER_THOUSAND.
Afterwards you can reference it wherever you need the format e.g. this way:
    to_char(10000,'&NUMBER_THOUSAND.').
This way you just have one place where to change the format model.

  • Apex 3.1 and Custom Flash Charts

I am having difficulty getting to the point where my custom flash charts can be displayed. I have Oracle 10.2, over OHS to Apex 3.1. I cannot post any of the config files or code here because it is a different network, so I realize it will be hard to troubleshoot; and I apologize in advance.
I would use the canned Flash charts, but my application displays data much like MS Outlook's multi-user calendar does. The chart has to be color coded, similar to Outlook's Busy vs Tentative etc. It has to show multiple events at various times, including overlapping times. And it has to handle schedules for multiple people. Lastly, there are of course gaps in the schedule, because no day is comprised entirely of meetings. That is why I felt I had to do it manually.
I wrote XML/SVG code to do this previously, with HTML DB 1.5, and it worked fine. But Flash is the way we are going now, and I can't use SVG anymore. (Besides, Adobe says SVG will no longer be supported next year.)
I followed the thread of April 07 in which MAdelfio posted suggestions, but I can't get it right. I did everything listed except I never included the <data>...</data> code, because I am not sure where it goes. I have a custom written stored proc, exactly like in the thread, and I pass it all the args that apex_util.flash wants. I get a malformed XML message when I try to display the chart. That seems like it should be a very straight forward error, but I can't figure out where to look. I have been using 1.5 for about a year, and last month upgraded to 3.1.
Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this? Or, failing that, any simple examples that display Flash charts in which the code was generated by a stored procedure?
    Thanks,
    Michael

I'm sorry about not being able to provide all the info you need. Since it is on a totally separate network, with no access to the outside world, the only way I can do it is to print and retype everything. So I was hoping that someone could just provide suggestions as to where to look rather than providing answers. I understand that it is impossible for you to solve my problems, especially when you have been given no real information. And I don't want to keep you guessing -- I'd love to be able to just show everything and ask for help; I just can't.
Anyway, I am trying to use only those facilities provided with Apex. I do not have any 3rd party tools except for Perl. I am using the standard shockwave flash plugin for Mozilla. The way I did it with SVG was to create a stored procedure that generated an XML file. I put a button on the page that ran the stored proc and then redisplayed the page, with an HTML region. That region included an iframe, where the source was a perl script that merely regurgitated the SVG script (for some reason I could not get the iframe to accept XML as a source, so I created send_svg.pl, which merely outputted the named SVG file).
The format I followed was in this thread: Re: Custom Flash Charts
I even created a replacement proc for APEX_UTIL.FLASH with the exact output as the thread, knowing that even if it worked I'd still have a ton of work making it produce my chart. But once I can get the infrastructure right, I feel I can write the flash XML.
Maybe the easiest thing is to scan that thread I referenced and tell me if it is still accurate? That is, could anything have changed in 3.0.1, or should it still work? It is possible, maybe even likely, that I made a mistake retyping all that stuff, so maybe just verifying that it SHOULD work is a good start.
    Thanks again, and sorry again.

  • Scatter plot using time series function - Flash charting

    Apex 3 + XE + XP
I am trying to build a time series scatter plot chart using flash chart component.
    Situation :
On each scout date counts are taken within each crop. I want to order them by scout dates and display them in a time series chart. Each series represents different crop.
I am posting the two series queries I used
    Queries:
    Series 1
select     null LINK, "SCOUTDATES"."SCOUTDATE" LABEL, INSECTDISEASESCOUT.AVERAGECOUNT as "AVERAGE COUNT" from     "COUNTY" "COUNTY",
         "FIELD" "FIELD",
         "VARIETYLIST" "VARIETYLIST",
         "INSECTDISEASESCOUT" "INSECTDISEASESCOUT",
         "SCOUTDATES" "SCOUTDATES",
         "CROP" "CROP"
    where "SCOUTDATES"."CROPID"="CROP"."CROPID"
    and     "SCOUTDATES"."SCOUTID"="INSECTDISEASESCOUT"."SCOUTID"
    and     "CROP"."VARIETYID"="VARIETYLIST"."VARIETYLISTID"
    and     "CROP"."FIELDID"="FIELD"."FIELDID"
    and     "FIELD"."COUNTYID"="COUNTY"."COUNTYID"
    and      "INSECTDISEASESCOUT"."PESTNAME" ='APHIDS'
    and     "VARIETYLIST"."VARIETYNAME" ='SUGARSNAX'
    and     "COUNTY"."COUNTNAME" ='Kings' AND CROP.CROPID=1
    order by SCOUTDATES.SCOUTDATE' ASC
    Series 2:
select     null LINK, "SCOUTDATES"."SCOUTDATE" LABEL, INSECTDISEASESCOUT.AVERAGECOUNT as "AVERAGE COUNT" from     "COUNTY" "COUNTY",
         "FIELD" "FIELD",
         "VARIETYLIST" "VARIETYLIST",
         "INSECTDISEASESCOUT" "INSECTDISEASESCOUT",
         "SCOUTDATES" "SCOUTDATES",
         "CROP" "CROP"
    where "SCOUTDATES"."CROPID"="CROP"."CROPID"
    and     "SCOUTDATES"."SCOUTID"="INSECTDISEASESCOUT"."SCOUTID"
    and     "CROP"."VARIETYID"="VARIETYLIST"."VARIETYLISTID"
    and     "CROP"."FIELDID"="FIELD"."FIELDID"
    and     "FIELD"."COUNTYID"="COUNTY"."COUNTYID"
    and      "INSECTDISEASESCOUT"."PESTNAME" ='APHIDS'
    and     "VARIETYLIST"."VARIETYNAME" ='SUGARSNAX'
    and     "COUNTY"."COUNTNAME" ='Kings' AND CROP.CROPID=4
    order by SCOUTDATES.SCOUTDATE' ASC
    Problem
As you can see the observations are ordered by scout date. However when the chart appears, the dates dont appear in order. The chart displays the data from crop 1 and then followed by crop 4 data, which is not exactly a time series chart. Does flash chart support time series or they have no clue that the data type is date and it should be progressive in charting ? I tried to use to_char(date,'j') to converting them and apply the same principle however it did not help either.
    Any suggestions ?

    Arumugam,
All labels are treated as strings, so APEX will not compare them as dates.
There are two workarounds to get all your data in the right order:
    1) Combine the SQL statements into single-query multi-series format, something like this:
    select null LINK,
    "SCOUTDATES"."SCOUTDATE" LABEL,
    decode(CROP.CROPID,1,INSECTDISEASESCOUT.AVERAGECOUNT) as "Crop 1",
    decode(CROP.CROPID,4,INSECTDISEASESCOUT.AVERAGECOUNT) as "Crop 4"
    from "COUNTY" "COUNTY",
    "FIELD" "FIELD",
    "VARIETYLIST" "VARIETYLIST",
    "INSECTDISEASESCOUT" "INSECTDISEASESCOUT",
    "SCOUTDATES" "SCOUTDATES",
    "CROP" "CROP"
    where "SCOUTDATES"."CROPID"="CROP"."CROPID"
    and "SCOUTDATES"."SCOUTID"="INSECTDISEASESCOUT"."SCOUTID"
    and "CROP"."VARIETYID"="VARIETYLIST"."VARIETYLISTID"
    and "CROP"."FIELDID"="FIELD"."FIELDID"
    and "FIELD"."COUNTYID"="COUNTY"."COUNTYID"
    and "INSECTDISEASESCOUT"."PESTNAME" ='APHIDS'
    and "VARIETYLIST"."VARIETYNAME" ='SUGARSNAX'
    and "COUNTY"."COUNTNAME" ='Kings'
    AND CROP.CROPID in (1,4)
order by SCOUTDATES.SCOUTDATE ASC2) Union the full domain of labels into your first query. Then the sorting will be applied to the full list, and the values of the second series will be associated with the matching labels from the first.

  • 4.2 blob download format mask not working

    I am using Apex 4.2
I have been working through the book Beginning Oracle Application Express 4. In chapter 6 the a blob is added to a report.
I have pasted the code example into the report definition (albeit with my own page numbers) :
    SELECT
       "TICKET_DETAILS"."TICKET_DETAILS_ID" "TICKET_DETAILS_ID",
       "TICKET_DETAILS"."TICKET_ID" "TICKET_ID",
       "TICKET_DETAILS"."DETAILS" "DETAILS",
       "TICKET_DETAILS"."CREATED_ON" "CREATED_ON",
       "TICKET_DETAILS"."CREATED_BY" "CREATED_BY",
       dbms_lob.getlength("ATTACHMENT") ATTACHMENT
    FROM
       "TICKET_DETAILS"
    WHERE (("TICKET_DETAILS"."TICKET_ID" = :P5_TICKET_ID))
I go to the report attributes and click on the attachment column.  I enter the suggested format mask
    DOWNLOAD:TICKET_DETAILS:ATTACHMENT:TICKET_DETAILS_ID::MIME_TYPE:FILE_NAME:::inline:Download.
When I press apply I keep getting :
    1 error has occurred
"" not found. (Go to error)
I have confirmed that the query runs and that P5_TICKET_ID does exist on page 5.
Not understanding what this meant I tracked down this page
17.10 About BLOB Support in Forms and Reports
and the section "Providing a Download Link" seems to confirm that the above format mask is correct.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

I've also done the exercises in the book and it worked for me.
Your format mask is correct. But before pressing submit you also have to enter the blob column attributes:
    *Format Mask (Value Required):                   DOWNLOAD
    *Blob Table (Value Required):                       TICKET_DETAILS
    *Blob Column (Value Required):                   ATTACHMENT
*Primary Key Column 1 (Value Required):     TICKET_DETAILS_ID
    Primary Key Column 2:
    Mimetype Column:                                      MIME_TYPE
    Filename Column:                                       FILE_NAME
    Last Updated Column
    Character Set Column:
    Content Disposition:                                    ATTACHMENT
    Download Text:                                           Download
    Maybe you forgot that?

When I copy and paste from an online chart, some cells that had dashes or hyphens in them in the online chart paste into Numbers cells as dates, e.g., 12-13 pastes as Dec. 13, 2012.  I have tried changing the cell formats for that column from "automatic" to "text", but that doesn't fix it.  Is there a way to copy/paste this information without changing the original characters?

If you know how many rows/columns you are planning to paste, then make the table that big BEFORE you paste.  In addition select all cells in the table by selecting any cell, then type the key combination <COMMAND>+a (for select all.
Then use the cells inspector to make the cells formatted as text:

  • Using 'Function Returning SQL Query' with Flash charts

I have created a pl/sql function that returns a SQL query as a varchar2 of this form:
    select null link
    <x value> value
    <Series1 y value> Series 1 Label
    <Series2 y value> Series 2 Label
    <Series3 y value> Series 3 Label
    from tablea a
    join tableb b
    on a.col = b.col
    order by <x value>
If I now call the function from a Flash Chart Series SQL box with the Query Source Type set to 'Function Returning SQL Query' like this:
    return functionname(to_date('30-sep-2010', 'dd-mon-yyyy'))
it parses correctly and the page is saved; however, when I run the page I don't get any output - nor any error messages or other indication of a problem.
Now, if I call the function in a SQL client, capture the SQL query output using dbms_output and paste that into the Flash Chart Series SQL box - changing the Query Source Type to SQL Query - and save the page it works fine when I run it and returns a multi-series flash chart.
    Can anyone suggest either;
    1. What have I might have missed or done wrong?
    2. Any way to usefully diagnose the problem...
I have tried using the Apex debugger - which is very nice, by the way - but it doesn't provide any info on what my problem might be. I even tried writing my own debug messages from my function using the apex_debug_message package - got nothing...
    Thanks,
    Eric

    Hi Eric,
Try expressing the source as this:
    begin
       return functionname(to_date('30-sep-2010', 'dd-mon-yyyy'));
end; That works fine for me, and if I take out the begin-end and the trailing semicolon from the return statement I get the same behavior as you.
It does mention in the help for the source (only during the wizard though) that this source type has to be expressed that way, but I agree it would be helpful if the tool would validate for this format when 'Function Returning SQL Query' is used or give some sort of indication of the trouble. Anyway, this should get you going again.
    Hope this helps,
    John

  • Dates in Flash Chart Bolded

I have a really frustrating issue with the formatting of my Flash charts. Whenever there is a date on an axis label it will bold all dates along the axis. It also seems to forget the formatting I want for the rest of the chart.
I have all of my charts to show the axis in 10pt Arial. Things work fine if there are no dates. The minute a date goes in the date axis is bold and the other axis is back to the default font and size. Any ideas?

Maybe this issue is a bug. I changed the rotation back to 0 and the text shows normal. Although, if this was going to happen I would have expected the same behavior with standard text.
