IN clause issue

Hi All,
In "IN" i am not able to use more than 1000 parameters, getting ORA error. Is there any ways to use more than 1000 params.
Thank a lot.
-Sachin Mali

Hi,
If you have that many values, you shouldn't be hard-coding them into a script. You should store the values in a table, and use that table in an IN-subquery, like this
WHERE     empno     IN (
               SELECT  num
               FROM     table_x
             )If you must hard-code the values, you can have any number of tuples in an IN-list:
WHERE     (empno, 0)   IN ( (7900, 0)
               , (7902, 0)
               , (7934, 0)
               )

    thanks in advance..Well, i don't see anything about these queries that makes sense.
    You are essentially joining emp and dept on EMPNO to DEPTNO ... that doesn't usually make any sense.
    How about you step back from the query which is almost certainly incorrect, and explain your tables, their data and what you need as output?

  • [Solved] Named Bind Variables at Runtime - SQL WHERE clause issue

    Hey 'all,
    I've been having this issue today with a Search page using Named Bind Variables at Runtime for the search parameters for the WHERE clause in the view objects SQL.
    I've got everything working except for a clearing method which I've created so that the user can clear the current WHERE clause from the SQL statment and set it as 1=2 (so that it doesn't do a blind query on load).
    The method can clear and set the WHERE clause to 1=2 only when there is already one there.
    Below are the methods: (located in my view object class)
    public void findInvoiceById(Number invoiceId){
        setWhereClause("invoice_id = :P_INVOICE_ID");
        defineNamedWhereClauseParam("P_INVOICE_ID",null,null);
        setNamedWhereClauseParam("P_INVOICE_ID",invoiceId);
        executeQuery();
    public void clearCriteria(){
        setWhereClause("1=2");
        removeNamedWhereClauseParam("P_INVOICE_ID");
        executeQuery();
    }The error which I get is the following - this happens when the button is pressed twice in a row, or when no query has been passed previously.
    1. JBO-29000: Unexpected exception caught: oracle.jbo.NoDefException, msg=JBO-25058: Definition P_INVOICE_ID of type Variable not found in SupplierInvoicesView1
    2. JBO-25058: Definition P_INVOICE_ID of type Variable not found in SupplierInvoicesView1
    Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!
    Cheers,

    Hi Bonnie,
    we have it working ok, but still feel that there is room for improvement in the design.
    For us the key factors are:
    Pages based on the same view object that can be queried multiple ways.
    We don't want to put design time bind variables in because it limits the use of the VO
    We don't wan't multiple VO's with different where clauses.
    The page is displaying the same table columns and fields, but the where clause must be dynamic.
    We only want to query on the search field entered (some of our tables are massive)
    TopLink named queries are really what we are after, but we don't want to forgo all the other ADF BC functionality. The only examples of ViewCriteria in the developer guide had literals in the where clause and no bind variables. The View Criteria may still be an option, but it appeared quite complex compaired to directly adding and removing bind variables at runtime.
    a couple of footnotes:
    the following methods are used to clear the runtime variables prior to reusing the VO (thanks to John Stegman for the pointer on the exception handler):
        public void clearBindVariable(String bindVariableName){
            try
                removeNamedWhereClauseParam(bindVariableName);
            catch (NoDefException e)
        public void clearBindVariables(){
            clearBindVariable("P_INVOICE_ID");
            clearBindVariable("P_INVOICE_NUM");
            clearBindVariable("P_SUPPLIER_NAME");
            clearBindVariable("P_INVOICE_DATE_FROM");
            clearBindVariable("P_INVOICE_DATE_TO");
            clearBindVariable("P_SUPPLIER_NUMBER");
        }We are using 1=1 and 1=2 in the where clause to supress blind querying. 1=2 is applied when ever we are not explicitely searching for something. We had a problem with using the refresh condition ${adfFacesContext.postback == true} which I posted about here:
    executeQuery called twice using ${adfFacesContext.postback == true}
    Would still gladly hear other ideas on a better reuse design.
    regards,
    Brenden

    Normalisation.
    Col2 is not normalised. That is the core problem.
    And trying to hack that failure in the data model with a 1000+ expression clause... that is just plain bloody silly.

  • Usage of "IN" clause issue in oracle 9i

    I HAVE QUERY
    SELECT COUNT(*) FROM QUOTE WHERE OID IN (SELECT PARENT_ID FROM PARTY WHERE PARTY.COMPANY_ID = 1 AND PARTY.TYPE = 6)
    Result returns zero rows. But there are 25000 rows in quote table with parent key of party table
    WHEN I EXECUTE THE SAME AS
    SELECT COUNT(*) FROM QUOTE WHERE OID IN (SELECT PARENT_ID FROM PARTY WHERE PARTY.COMPANY_ID = 1 AND PARTY.TYPE = 6
    AND ROWNUM < 100000)
    I AM ABLE TO GET THE RESULT.
    MY QUESTION WHY IT NEED ROWNUM AND ALSO I FOUND IN 8i there is no such issue.
    I AM FACING THE ABOVE ISSUE IN ORACLE 9i.
    pl. let us know why and how it can be resolved.
    Also i won't be able to use JOIN to resolVe this as
    SELECT COUNT(*) FROM QUOTE, PARTY WHERE QUOTE.ID = PARTY.PARENT_ID AND PARTY.COMPANY_ID = 1 AND PARTY.TYPE = 6
    will result duplicate.
    pl do the needful. urgent

    I don't know what is causing your error, but you have many options, including:
    SELECT COUNT(*) FROM QUOTE Q
    WHERE EXISTS (SELECT 1 FROM PARTY P WHERE P.COMPANY_ID=1 AND P.TYPE=6 AND P.PARENT_ID=Q.OID);
    SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT QUOTE.ID) FROM QUOTE, PARTY WHERE QUOTE.ID = PARTY.PARENT_ID AND PARTY.COMPANY_ID = 1 AND PARTY.TYPE = 6;

  • Group by clause issue

    Hi all,
    i am having some issue in grouping columns i have some specific criteria depending on that i need to group columns.
    i have table as transaction_table in that i have
    Transaction item prom_id
    296     A     null sale     -- prom --Source item
    296     B     1 sale     -- prom --Target item
    296 A null
    298     A null
    promotin
    prom_id id_ru_prd
    1 123
    2 345
    source_base
    id_ru_prdv item
    123 A
    345 B
    in above table for transaction 296 i have item A twice but out of them one item is sold in promotion with target item B and other is non promotional item A.
    i have prom_id which tells me which target item is sold in promotion but to find out source item (in this example item A) i have column in other base table(promotion table) which tells me associated source item using prom_id
    i need to calculate sum of quantity depending weather item was sold in promotion or not
    result should be
    item quantity promotion / non promotional
    A 1 promotion
    B 1 promotion
    A 2 non promotional
    in group by it doesn't allow sub query , can anyone help me on this pls?

    I'm having a hard time understanding what you are trying to do.
    Can you write what you want in SQL, and then we'll see if we can get the same result in XQuery?
    I think what you want is the union of :
    select trans, count(*) from transaction_table group by trans where prom is null
    select trans, count(*) from transaction_table group by trans where prom is not null

    Good Morning everyone. I have a simple query that calculates the count of 3 expressions. It is supposed to group by region and province as a result set, but instead places the TOTAL count for each expression in the region and province fields. What am I doing wrong? This is my query:

    I am using Visual Composer that has been packaged with NW2004sSP7_Preview
    VC & Flex Version: 645.7.0.3
    The Error message is get is;
    Error in executing a process for Flex compilation, Error 1033: ';' expected
          (C:usrsapJ2EJC01j2eeclusterserver0GUIMachine_Business_Packagestest_48731FLEX_COMPILATION_FOLEDRAADCN.mxml:269)
    Error 1205: The statement 'Test' is incomplete.
          (C:usrsapJ2EJC01j2eeclusterserver0GUIMachine_Business_Packagestest_48731FLEX_COMPILATION_FOLEDRAADCN.mxml:269)
    Failed to compile AADCN.mxml
    When I goto the deployment file – it has the below line;
    <i>'<Request type="EXECUTE_RELATIONAL" system="BI_JDBC" system_type="SAP_BI_JDBC" maxrows="500" templateid="BIR_SQL"><Objects type="INPUT" shape="OBJ" role="INPUT"><Object type="INPUT_FIELD" id="SQL_STATEMENT" appName="SQL" mapped="0" value=""/></Objects><Objects type="OUTPUT" shape="SET" role="OUTPUT"><Object type="OUTPUT_FIELD" id="name" appName="name"/></Objects><Objects id="1" type="TEMPLATE_PARAMETER"><Object id="2" type="SQL" value="select name from pub.srcompany where name ='Test Company'"/></Objects></Request>';</i>
    It seems that the parser for the flash deployment is prematurely finishing the parse when it hits the single quotation in the SQL string!
    We had a similar error where if we had a carriage return in the SQL (e.g. between the from & the where clause) then the deployment parser was stating that the line finished prematurely. In the deployment file the carriage return forced a new line thus making the message incomplete. Removing the carriage return resolve that issue
    The SQL Preview in the SQL Editor within VC works fine with the string literals in the where clause.
    The functionality compiles & deploys in web dynpro however it does not return the results to the table
    Questions
    1:> Has anyone successfully used flash with string literals in the SQL where clause or had seen this issue in the past?
    2:> Is there a setting to get the SQL working on Web dynpro for the information to be returned that I may have missed?
    Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Best Regards,
    Ian.

    Hey,
    I have worked with SQL Editor a lot. Here's a how to guide I put together on it:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/6339e7d4-0a01-0010-1c98-db00e52e989a
    Let me know if that helps...

  • SQL Query with a little bit more complicated WHERE clause performance issue

    Hello, I have some performance issue in this case:
    Very simplified query:
    SELECT COUNT(*) FROM Items
    WHERE
    ConditionA OR
    ConditionB OR
    ConditionC OR ...
    Simply I have to determine how many Items the user has access through some complicated conditions.
    When there is a large number of records (100,000+) in the Items table and say ~10 complicated conditions concatenated in WHERE clause, I get the result about 2 seconds in my case. The problem is when very few conditions are met, f.e. when I get only
    10 Items from 100,000.
    How can I improve the performace in this "Get my items" case?
    Additional information:
    the query is generated by EF 6.1
    MS SQL 2012 Express

  • Issue in select query with where clause

    Hi guys,
    I'm facing an issue while using select query with the where clause. When I'm selecting all the data from the table it returns the correct result. But when I'm using the where clause to get the specific rows from the table it returns no rows. But the data I'm trying to fetch using the where condition exists in the table.
    Here is my query which causing the issue,
    select * from mytable where myfield = 'myvalue'
    But if I use the following query it returns the result correctly.
    select * from mytable
    Also the myfield value 'myvalue' exists in the table.
    I have tried by running this query in both SQL Developer and SQL Plus. I have tried this query in mssql as well. It works perfectly and returns correct result sets for both the queries I have mentioned above. I'm unable to predict the issue as I'm new to ORACLE. Please help.
    Thanks,
    Ram.

    Hi Ram,
    I experienced an issue similar to this with a varchar2 field. Some of our records had a hidden newline character at the end of them, which was making queries like the one below fail:
    select * from employees
    where email = '[email protected]'The best way I found to detect this was to use
    select 'XX'||email||'XX' from employeesTo make sure that there were no newlines. But that is just a guess. If you could provide some example table data and the outputs of your selects, it would be helpful.

  • View Link Editor Issue - empty query clause if based on association

    JDeveloper 10.1.2
    Setup:
    - entities A and B
    - a 1 to * association from entity A to entity B (A_B_association)
    - a view of A based on entity A (AView)
    - a view of B based on entity B (BView)
    - BView has an expert mode query
    Create a view link from table A to table B:
    - choose the A_B_association under AView for the source attribute
    - choose the A_B_association under BView for the destination attribute
    - click add
    - click next
    issue: the query clause is empty
    - click next:
    info dialog pops up;
    title = "Business Components"
    message = "Restoring the default where clause."
    Note, however, that creating a view link based on the attributes works. That is, if I choose the primary key attribute under AView for the source attribute, and the corresponding foreign key attribute under BView for the destination attribute, then the wizard generates the expected query clause.
    If I create a new project and recreate the entities, the views, and the association, then I can successfully create a view link based on the association. The foreignKey value on the association end was different in the new association XML file.  I modifed the old XML file so that it used the same foreignKey element, but that did not seem to work.
    I am guessing that this is some sort of user error on my part or that we have otherwise managed to squat up our XML files.
    Any tips, hints, or ideas appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Steve

    The problem is in AView.
    We had modified the AView at one point, then reverted it to a default view of entity A. Here, "a default view" means that we undid our custom changes (apparently not thoroughly enough); that is, we did not delete it and create a default view from scratch using the contextual menu on the A entity.
    The bottom line is that the AView attributes were not being mapped to the entity -- they were showing up as calculated attributes.
    We created a "New Default View Object..." from the contextual menu of entity A, then manually corrected the AView.xml file to solve the problem.
