WHERE Clause issue

Hi, I have run the following command successfully without the WHERE clause on the last line.  However, when I try to use a parameter, it fails.  Is there anything wrong with it?
CREATE TABLE #DateList
Dates DateTime NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY
DECLARE locDate DateTime;
DECLARE BEG DateTime;
DECLARE FIN DateTime;
DECLARE N DOUBLE PRECISION;
//-- Sets the 1st date in the table.
SET BEG=TIMESTAMP '2000-01-01 00:00:00';
//-- Sets the Last date in the Table.
SET FIN=TIMESTAMP '2008-12-31 00:00:00';
//-- Fills all the dates in between...
SET locDate = BEG;
WHILE locDate <= FIN DO
  INSERT INTO #DateList
  (Dates)
  SELECT locDate AS Dates FROM #dummy;
  /* This should work, but it looks like Nexus haven't written the code yet to
     actually add dates, the slack dogs.
  SET locDate=locDate + INTERVAL '1' DAY;
  SET N = CAST(locDate AS DOUBLE PRECISION) + 1;
  SET locDate = CAST(N AS TIMESTAMP);
END WHILE;
SELECT *
FROM #DateList;
DROP TABLE #DateList;
SELECT "WeatherDetail"."RainFall", "WeatherStation"."Name", "WeatherDetail"."Date"
FROM   "WeatherDetail" "WeatherDetail" INNER JOIN "WeatherStation" "WeatherStation" ON "WeatherDetail"."WeatherStationID"="WeatherStation"."WeatherStationID"
WHERE "WeatherStation"."Name" = {?Station}

  • [Solved] Named Bind Variables at Runtime - SQL WHERE clause issue

    Hey 'all,
    I've been having this issue today with a Search page using Named Bind Variables at Runtime for the search parameters for the WHERE clause in the view objects SQL.
    I've got everything working except for a clearing method which I've created so that the user can clear the current WHERE clause from the SQL statment and set it as 1=2 (so that it doesn't do a blind query on load).
    The method can clear and set the WHERE clause to 1=2 only when there is already one there.
    Below are the methods: (located in my view object class)
    public void findInvoiceById(Number invoiceId){
        setWhereClause("invoice_id = :P_INVOICE_ID");
        defineNamedWhereClauseParam("P_INVOICE_ID",null,null);
        setNamedWhereClauseParam("P_INVOICE_ID",invoiceId);
        executeQuery();
    public void clearCriteria(){
        setWhereClause("1=2");
        removeNamedWhereClauseParam("P_INVOICE_ID");
        executeQuery();
    }The error which I get is the following - this happens when the button is pressed twice in a row, or when no query has been passed previously.
    1. JBO-29000: Unexpected exception caught: oracle.jbo.NoDefException, msg=JBO-25058: Definition P_INVOICE_ID of type Variable not found in SupplierInvoicesView1
    2. JBO-25058: Definition P_INVOICE_ID of type Variable not found in SupplierInvoicesView1
    Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!
    Cheers,

    Hi Bonnie,
    we have it working ok, but still feel that there is room for improvement in the design.
    For us the key factors are:
    Pages based on the same view object that can be queried multiple ways.
    We don't want to put design time bind variables in because it limits the use of the VO
    We don't wan't multiple VO's with different where clauses.
    The page is displaying the same table columns and fields, but the where clause must be dynamic.
    We only want to query on the search field entered (some of our tables are massive)
    TopLink named queries are really what we are after, but we don't want to forgo all the other ADF BC functionality. The only examples of ViewCriteria in the developer guide had literals in the where clause and no bind variables. The View Criteria may still be an option, but it appeared quite complex compaired to directly adding and removing bind variables at runtime.
    a couple of footnotes:
    the following methods are used to clear the runtime variables prior to reusing the VO (thanks to John Stegman for the pointer on the exception handler):
        public void clearBindVariable(String bindVariableName){
            try
                removeNamedWhereClauseParam(bindVariableName);
            catch (NoDefException e)
        public void clearBindVariables(){
            clearBindVariable("P_INVOICE_ID");
            clearBindVariable("P_INVOICE_NUM");
            clearBindVariable("P_SUPPLIER_NAME");
            clearBindVariable("P_INVOICE_DATE_FROM");
            clearBindVariable("P_INVOICE_DATE_TO");
            clearBindVariable("P_SUPPLIER_NUMBER");
        }We are using 1=1 and 1=2 in the where clause to supress blind querying. 1=2 is applied when ever we are not explicitely searching for something. We had a problem with using the refresh condition ${adfFacesContext.postback == true} which I posted about here:
    executeQuery called twice using ${adfFacesContext.postback == true}
    Would still gladly hear other ideas on a better reuse design.
    regards,
    Brenden

  • Dynamic LOV (Where Clause Issue)

    I have a LOV on an item that I want to be dynimac based on a transaction date field.
    When I hard-code the date, it works fine (or use sysdate).
    select ft.ftvacct_acct_code || '-' || ft.ftvacct_title || '-' || ft.ftvacct_atyp_code display_value
    , ft.FTVACCT_ACCT_CODE return_value
    from FTVACCT FT
    where ftvacct_data_entry_ind = 'Y'
    and ftvacct_status_ind = 'A'
    And To_date('20091231','yyyymmdd') Between ft.ftvacct_eff_date And ft.ftvacct_nchg_date
    order by 1
    When I replace "To_date('20091231','yyyymmdd')" with :p8_trans_date, the item that hold the date value, nothing
    is available in the lov?
    And :p8_trans_date ft.ftvacct_eff_date And ft.ftvacct_nchg_date

    I created an Application Item, but it appears to still not work for me, I probably missing something (I'm no to JS scripting)?
    Application Item: F130_LOV_DATE.
    On the Transaction Date option have JS call: onblur="javascript: SetLOVDate();"
    On Page have JS:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function setlovdate()
    $x('F130_LOV_DATE').value = $x('P8_TRANS_DATE').value;
    </script>
    On Item that I want the LOV, Changed the sql to:
    And :F130_LOV_DATE Between ft.ftvacct_eff_date And ft.ftvacct_nchg_date

  • SQL Strings in Where Clause - single quotes issue

    All,
    I’m having issues related to SQL String literals when trying to deploy to flash. The complication works fine but I then get a message (see below) stating that a ; is missing. The SQL query and the iview runs fine when we use numeric values or do not apply a where clause on the table.
    I am using Visual Composer that has been packaged with NW2004sSP7_Preview
    VC & Flex Version: 645.7.0.3
    The Error message is get is;
    Error in executing a process for Flex compilation, Error 1033: ';' expected
          (C:usrsapJ2EJC01j2eeclusterserver0GUIMachine_Business_Packagestest_48731FLEX_COMPILATION_FOLEDRAADCN.mxml:269)
    Error 1205: The statement 'Test' is incomplete.
          (C:usrsapJ2EJC01j2eeclusterserver0GUIMachine_Business_Packagestest_48731FLEX_COMPILATION_FOLEDRAADCN.mxml:269)
    Failed to compile AADCN.mxml
    When I goto the deployment file – it has the below line;
    <i>'<Request type="EXECUTE_RELATIONAL" system="BI_JDBC" system_type="SAP_BI_JDBC" maxrows="500" templateid="BIR_SQL"><Objects type="INPUT" shape="OBJ" role="INPUT"><Object type="INPUT_FIELD" id="SQL_STATEMENT" appName="SQL" mapped="0" value=""/></Objects><Objects type="OUTPUT" shape="SET" role="OUTPUT"><Object type="OUTPUT_FIELD" id="name" appName="name"/></Objects><Objects id="1" type="TEMPLATE_PARAMETER"><Object id="2" type="SQL" value="select name from pub.srcompany where name ='Test Company'"/></Objects></Request>';</i>
    It seems that the parser for the flash deployment is prematurely finishing the parse when it hits the single quotation in the SQL string!
    We had a similar error where if we had a carriage return in the SQL (e.g. between the from & the where clause) then the deployment parser was stating that the line finished prematurely. In the deployment file the carriage return forced a new line thus making the message incomplete. Removing the carriage return resolve that issue
    The SQL Preview in the SQL Editor within VC works fine with the string literals in the where clause.
    The functionality compiles & deploys in web dynpro however it does not return the results to the table
    Questions
    1:> Has anyone successfully used flash with string literals in the SQL where clause or had seen this issue in the past?
    2:> Is there a setting to get the SQL working on Web dynpro for the information to be returned that I may have missed?
    Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Best Regards,
    Ian.

    Hey,
    I have worked with SQL Editor a lot. Here's a how to guide I put together on it:

  • SQL Query with a little bit more complicated WHERE clause performance issue

    Hello, I have some performance issue in this case:
    Very simplified query:
    SELECT COUNT(*) FROM Items
    WHERE
    ConditionA OR
    ConditionB OR
    ConditionC OR ...
    Simply I have to determine how many Items the user has access through some complicated conditions.
    When there is a large number of records (100,000+) in the Items table and say ~10 complicated conditions concatenated in WHERE clause, I get the result about 2 seconds in my case. The problem is when very few conditions are met, f.e. when I get only
    10 Items from 100,000.
    How can I improve the performace in this "Get my items" case?

  • Issue in select query with where clause

    Hi guys,
    I'm facing an issue while using select query with the where clause. When I'm selecting all the data from the table it returns the correct result. But when I'm using the where clause to get the specific rows from the table it returns no rows. But the data I'm trying to fetch using the where condition exists in the table.
    Here is my query which causing the issue,
    select * from mytable where myfield = 'myvalue'
    But if I use the following query it returns the result correctly.
    select * from mytable
    Also the myfield value 'myvalue' exists in the table.
    I have tried by running this query in both SQL Developer and SQL Plus. I have tried this query in mssql as well. It works perfectly and returns correct result sets for both the queries I have mentioned above. I'm unable to predict the issue as I'm new to ORACLE. Please help.
    Thanks,
    Ram.

    Hi Ram,
    I experienced an issue similar to this with a varchar2 field. Some of our records had a hidden newline character at the end of them, which was making queries like the one below fail:
    select * from employees
    where email = '[email protected]'The best way I found to detect this was to use
    select 'XX'||email||'XX' from employeesTo make sure that there were no newlines. But that is just a guess. If you could provide some example table data and the outputs of your selects, it would be helpful.

  • Odd issue with WHERE clause

    Greetings All,
    I'm having an odd issue with a WHERE clause that I've been working on in a Record Set, $upperdate displays as 2011-02-28, $lowerdate as 2011-02-01, but,
    WHERE visitdate >= $lowerdate AND visitdate <= $upperdate
    returns no values, and
    WHERE visitdate >= $lowerdate AND visitdate <= '2011-02-28'
    returns the appropriate values,
    Here is the code for $upperdate and $lowerdate:
    $datemonth = date ('m');
    $dateday = '01';
    $dateday1 = date ('t');
    $dateyear = date ('Y');
    $lowerdate = date("Y-m-d",mktime(0,0,0,$datemonth, $dateday, $dateyear));
    $upperdate = date("Y-m-d",mktime(0,0,0,$datemonth, $dateday1, $dateyear));
    I've also tried the following things to check functionality with no success:
    $upperdate = '2011-02-28';
    $dateday1 = '28';
    BETWEEN...AND... behaves the same as... >=  AND <=
    Thanks for the help in advance!

    Finally worked it out,
    I ended up putting single parentheses around '$lowerdate' and '$upperdate' and it works now.
    It still seems strange, because it worked when I used no parentheses with the variable in:
    WHERE visitdate >= $lowerdate AND visitdate <= '2011-02-28'
    Also, I had tried the parentheses a few other times without success, so maybe there was something else awry that I fixed inadvertantly while messing around.

  • No tree displayed with WHERE clause (data issue?)

    I tried this on the apex.oracle.com workspace after it didnt run in our setup, and I ran into the same issue.
    I cant get the tree to display when I add a WHERE clause to the query.
    I know this isnt a problem with the WHERE clause, and has something to do with the data.
    If I just delete the data I dont want from the table (data_type <> 'S'), it WORKS, even with the WHERE clause.
    I have checked running the SQL, and the root element is returned.
    When I look at the HTML source of the page, I can see the js object created, though it seems to be constructed incorrectly.
    select case when connect_by_isleaf = 1 then 0
    when level = 1 then 1
    else -1
    end as status,
    level,
    "DATA_TEXT" as title,
    null as icon,
    "ID" as value,
    null as tooltip,
    null as link
    from "#OWNER#"."T_ROOT_CAUSE_TEMPLATE"
    where (data_type='S' or id=346)
    start with id=346
    connect by prior "ID" = "PARENT"
    order siblings by "DATA_SEQUENCE"

    Just in case if you didn't know it, you can use WITH factoring clause when creating a tree. It makes it possible to create as many "tables" as you need, while the final hierarchical query (that is responsible for the way the tree looks like) is a simple one. This (+WITH+) approach is convenient as you can avoid repeating inline views and/or subqueries.
    For example, your query might have looked like this:
    with s_type as
      (select * from t_template
       where data_type = 'S'
          or id = 346
    select
      case when connect_by_isleaf = 1 then 0
           when level = 1 then 1
           else -1
      end as status,
      level,
      data_text as title,
      null as icon,
      id as value,
      null as tooltip,
      null as link
    from
      s_type
    start with id=346
    connect by prior id = parent
    order siblings by data_sequence

  • Less than or eual to Date issue in dynamic where clause

    Dear All,
    I have a requirement to search the leave balance information, here date as a parameter. When ever we pass the date as a parameter it should be display all the leave balance information till the parameter date.
    Steps I have followed to achieve this requirement
    • Created the VO and query as follows
    SELECT trunc(paa.creation_date) creation_date, paa.date_start, paa.date_end,
    SYSDATE duty_resumption_date, paa.absence_days leave_deducted,
    paa.absence_days leave_added, 'Leave Deucted' detail,
    paa.absence_days balance_remaining,
    fu.user_id
    FROM per_absence_attendances paa, per_all_people_f papf, fnd_user fu
    WHERE 1 = 1
    AND papf.person_id = paa.person_id
    AND papf.person_id = fu.employee_id
    AND fu.user_id=fnd_profile.value('USER_ID')
    And trunc(paa.creation_date) <= TO_DATE((to_char(trunc(to_date(:1)),'DD-MON-YYYY') ),'DD-MON-YYYY')
    •     Created the Advance Search Region
    •     In the controller of the region, I have captured the go button logic and setting the dynamic where clause as below
    public void processFormRequest(OAPageContext pageContext, OAWebBean webBean)
    super.processFormRequest(pageContext, webBean);
    OAApplicationModuleImpl am= (OAApplicationModuleImpl)pageContext.getApplicationModule(webBean);
    OAQueryBean oaquerybean = (OAQueryBean)webBean.findIndexedChildRecursive("QueryRN");
    if (pageContext.getParameter(oaquerybean.getGoButtonName()) != null)
    OAViewObject oaviewobject = (OAViewObject)am.findViewObject("XXLeaveBalanceVO");
    String creationDate = pageContext.getParameter("CreationDate");
    oaviewobject.setWhereClauseParam(0,creationDate);
    oaviewobject.executeQuery();
    •     But this where condition is working equal condition to the parameter but it is not working less than condition.
    •     When I am running the VO query in Toad it is working the less than condition.
    Please help me out to resolve this issue.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Sai

    Dear Kumar,
    I have changed my vo query as you suggested, now the equal condition also not working and I am getting the following error message

  • Can you help me with the WHERE clause? Any issue with this code block?

    Hi,
    I am looking for blogs or any document on how to implement a Lookup during data loads in BW.
    The problem is that all those that I find on this site are mostly about u201CLookup in XIu201D
    I have read bits and hints on different postings on this site and this is the best I could do for the scenario shown below:
    I need to add the Chars: Char1, Char2, Char3 to CubeX
    so that I can display the data for these 3 Chars in a report.
    Char1 and Char2 are filled in ODS12 and Char3 is filled in Cube3.
    Can you help me write a routine so that while loading data to CubeX, it will read Char1, Char2, Char3 from ODS12 and Cube3; and make them available in CubeX?
    This is my attempt so far:   continue:
    u201C----
    select /bic/Char1 from /bic/ODS12
    select /bic/Char2 from /bic/ODS12
    select /bic/Char3 from /bic/Cube3
    into result
    WHERE u2026u2026u2026u2026u2026u2026u2026u2026u2026u2026u2026u2026u2026u2026u2026u2026
    and objvers = 'A' .
    end select.
    u201C----
    1. What should be my WHERE clause?
    2. In the select statement, by studying samples on this where should there be an u201CMu201D in front of the ODS? e.g. select /bic/Char1 from /bic/MODS12
    If so, what is the significance and the other options?
    3. Should this code be in the Start routing of CubeX? Or any other possible location? Also, in the start routine does it matter where within the start routine this code needs to be placed?
    4. Can you please fix this code and add any lines I may be missing?
    Is what I am looking to do refer to as u201Cdoing a lookupu201D?
    Thanks

  • Issue with dynamically setting where clause in OAF

    Hi All,
    I have a View object having the query below:

        AND a.ATTRIBUTE2=NVL(:4,a.ATTRIBUTE2)
      and b.wip_entity_name=NVL(:6,b.wip_entity_name)
    I need to pass dynamically a condition to my where clause that i can handle it by defining two bind parameters in the vo query and can pass it but the problem is the bind variable contains a string like 1311,13112,14445 that i need to pass for a field such as B.line_id in the first query and b.wip_entity_id in the second query so when i am trying by passing the string as one value it is working fine but for value separetd by comma it is giving prob.
    so i tried by passing dynamic where clause but it is everytime executing for first clause only how i can pass dynamically both the queries.
    vo.setWhereClause("LINE_ID in "+wherclause);

  • The issue with using the multiple columns sub-query in WHERE clause

    Hi All,
    my database version is 10.2.
    the problem i am trying to deal with is that when I use multiple column sub-query in the WHERE clause of the SELECT statement, the actual row number returned from the sub-query is different from the whole statement.
    And what I found is that, whenever there is NULL in any of those columns returned from the SUB-QUERY, the outer query will just return NULL for that whole row.
    Here is an example:
    select empno, ename, job, mgr, hiredate, sal, deptno from EMP
    intersect
    select empno, ename, job,  mgr, hiredate, sal, deptno from t;
    7782     CLARK     MANAGER     7839     09-JUN-81     2450     10
    7839     KING     PRESIDENT  NULL  17-NOV-81     5000     10
    7934     MILLER     CLERK     7782     23-JAN-82     1300     10
    select * from EMP where (EMPNO, ENAME, job, MGR, HIREDATE, SAL, DEPTNO) in (
    select empno, ename, job, mgr, hiredate, sal, deptno from EMP
    intersect
    select empno, ename, job,  mgr, hiredate, sal, deptno from t);
    7782     CLARK     MANAGER     7839     09-JUN-81     2450          10
    7934     MILLER     CLERK     7782     23-JAN-82     1300          10     If I specifically deal with the NULL situations for the columns which might return NULL, I can get the result right.
    select * from EMP where (EMPNO, ENAME, job, NVL(MGR,-1), HIREDATE, SAL, DEPTNO) in (
    select empno, ename, job, nvl(mgr,-1), hiredate, sal, deptno from EMP
    intersect
    select empno, ename, job,  nvl(mgr,-1), hiredate, sal, deptno from t);
    7782     CLARK     MANAGER     7839     09-JUN-81     2450          10
    7839     KING     PRESIDENT  null   17-NOV-81     5000          10
    7934     MILLER     CLERK     7782     23-JAN-82     1300          10     the problem is that, I feel this is a very lame way of handling it.
    So, I wonder or am asking if there is any better or standard way to do it?
    any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    As you discovered, INTERSECT treats NULL as a value, but IN does not.
    What you did with NVL is one way to handle the situation. If there was a chance that any of the columns could be NULL, then you might prefer something like this:
    select      *
    from      EMP
    where      ( EMPNO      || '~' ||
           ENAME      || '~' ||
           job           || '~' ||
           MGR           || '~' ||
           TO_CHAR (HIREDATE, 'DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS')
                    || '~' ||
           SAL           || '~' ||
           DEPTNO
         ) in (
              select  EMPNO      || '~' ||
                     ENAME      || '~' ||
                   job     || '~' ||
                   MGR     || '~' ||
                   TO_CHAR (HIREDATE, 'DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS')
                        || '~' ||
                   SAL      || '~' ||
                   DEPTNO
              from     emp
             intersect
              select  EMPNO      || '~' ||
                     ENAME      || '~' ||
                   job     || '~' ||
                   MGR     || '~' ||
                   TO_CHAR (HIREDATE, 'DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS')
                        || '~' ||
                   SAL      || '~' ||
                   DEPTNO
              from      t
             );This assumes that you can identify some string (I used '~') that never occurs in the strings in these tables.
    This is implicitly converting the NUMBERs. That's usually not a good thing to do. but explicitly converting them would make this even more tedious.
    You should explicitly convert any DATEs to strings, however. Depending on your default format, and your data, you might get away with implicit conversions even for DATEs, but don't bet on it.
    If you had to do this often, you might consider writing a user-defined function:
    delimited_string (empno, ename, job, mgr, hiredate, sal, deptno) would return a string like
    '7839~KING~PRESIDENT~~17-NOV-1981~5000~10'
    This will make the coding easier, but beware: it will make the execution slower.

    Carefully examine the query, expecially the INSTR line. Get the values in both the column and the bind variable and make sure they are what you think they are.
    The example on the other post might have failed because you were equality comparing the column value to '28' when it might have been a csv with commas unless you changed it (something worth trying).
    On 4th look I may (or may not) have something. PAGE_ID_1 is a VARCHAR2, while the 28 you compared it to was a number. Its a long shot, but maybe SQL is trying to convert the csv field to a number, failing to raise an error message where you can find it, and failing for that reason. Try using '28' on the equality test.

  • Index usage in depending on where clause changes.

    Hello Friends,
    I need your help for one issue.
    I have one query , which is using two table Say T1 and T2, where C1 is common column using which both are joined.
    C1 is primary key in T1, but no index available in T2 for C1. T1C2 is the column which we want to select.
    (Note that Either of table can be a Master table)
    Now see the query:
    Select T1C2
    From T1, T2
    where T2.C1 = T1.C1
    Here where clause may have other conditions and From clause may have others tables as per requirements.
    I want to know that, if, I change the query like following to let my query use the available index of T1.C1.
    Select T1C2
    from T1, T2
    where T1.C1 = T2.C1
    Then, Will the query use the available index of T1. and Will i get better performance. Even a little improvement in performance may help me a lot as this kind of query is being used within a where loop (so it is going to be executed multiple times).
    Please advise on this..

    Dipali..
