In ECC application server getting hang becase of RFC's calls

When ever BOP jobs running on SCM system it is doing no of rfc calls from ECC system, almost all the workprocess is occupying  and it is causing application server to be hang. We have created RFC logon Groups (RZ12) parallel_generators, the we assign these groups in SMQS, SMQR. Even though we are still facing the same issue.
Can you explain how logon groups use SMQS, SMQR and Could you please suggest how we can restrict the RFC calls?
Thanks
Mani

Hi Mani,
I try to explain to you as simple as I can.
1) In your source system (APO/SCM), BOP batch program generate tRFCs/qRFCs and store them into outbound queue.
2) In your source system (APO/SCM), qRFC outbound scheduler send  the data to target system (ECC) through RFC group (rfc resource management parameters works here), and maximum number of connection per destination (SMQS) can be defined to limited the connection to target system
3) These RFC connections logons to target system (ECC) through the RFC definition which you can use LB, i.e. logon group (SMLG).
4) Same number of work processes (as number of activated connecions) will be activated (running), these processes write the data into inbound queue of your target ECC system.
5) target system (ECC) inbound queue scheduler, pick up the data (trfc/qrfc) in the queue, and send to work process of RFC group(RZ12), these work processes execute the inbound processing application.
6) inbound processing appliation might generate outbound tRFC/qRFC, trigger above processing  again (target and source system exchanged)
i would recommend you increase parameter rdisp/rfc_min_wait_dia_wp in your ECC system for now, and also decrease the "Max.Conn." of the ECC destination in your APO/SCM sytem for immdiate remedy.
You need review your system resource ad configuration, business scenarios etc in detail and then optimize your qRFC and RFC resource configuration.
You should be able to find a lots of oss note by searching use key words "RFC" and  "resource"
Good luck!

  • Applications are getting hanged up in Safari browsers

    Hi,
    Ours is an AJAX based application which is working in almost all the browsers and their respective versions. Of late we have been observing that our application is getting hanged up in the Safari browsers, specially in the latest versions of it. The content that we are displaying mainly contains simple HTML attributes along with respective events set for them.
    However once the AJAX call is completed and after displaying the page in the browser, none of the user's events is recognized by the browser for eg: the radio buttons' clicks, drop down selections and the corresponding Javascript functionality is not working, which further leading to flow breakage in our application.
    Could you please throw some light on when we come across these kind of issues and how best we can resolve them?

    is any increment in the speed of rendering the page in Safari browsers during the latest versions launch?
    Yes. Safari 5 introduced DNS Prefetching: Safari looks up the addresses of links on webpages and can load those pages faster.
    In Safari 5 this could sometimes overwhelm the router and stall the page opening.
    This was fixed in Safari 5.0.2.

  • Report server getting hanged frequently

    Hi
    Our Reports service on our Flexcube application server is always going down and this has been a case for a long time. We get errors like Unable to connect to the reports server when we try to print reports. We at times get the error Unable to connect to the reports when the reports server under OPMN is shown as ALIVE. we also have a case where the users will be able to generate reports but the status of the reportsserver will be shown as DOWN or NONE. when the reports server is down and we try to start it. at times the reports server wont start with error Exceed Max Connections Allowed OR Process (pid=21326)

    Currently we are shutting it down and then restarting it, whenever it hangs, as a work around.
    Please take this as a priority and suggest

    I could figure out the problem. For Oracle AS, we need to include the folloiwng in web.xml file. Now every thing is working fine for me.

    Recently we have seen very strange problems ...

    Suddenly Tomcat which runs our application becomes dead slow. Total number of db connections goes around 30-40. kill -3 thread dump reveals dump similar to following:

    I have seen this issue has been faced by other members too http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=343023&start=15&tstart=0
    But I couldn't able to fine any resolution on this problem. If you have any suggestion it will help a lot to resolve it.
    regards,

    If that is the problem then one obvious solution would be to not spend so much time scrolling through a result set that the pool decides a timeout is in order.

  • Where does Application Server get its time information from?

    Hello All,
    My OS (AIX 5.2) has the correct time info. for e.g. right now, it's 09:40:24 EDT 2007
    My application server console however displays GMT time on the home page. I've tried restarting the console to no avail. Has anyone run into this?
    Thanks.

    A SCCP device will send a TimeDateReq packet to CCM and the CCM will respond with a DefineTimeDate packet which includes the current date/time and the phone can use the new time to keep in sync with CCM (ie. compensate for any drift since its previous DefineTimeDate request).
    Sample snippet from CCM trace.

  • Getting Return values from RFC function call with visual basic

    Hi,
    I am creating a sample app to connect to a SAP system which call its RFC functions created with ABAP. It was known that the function will return more than 1 return values.
       SAP Function name ==> "ZFMTP_RFC_GET_RESULT"
            Export parameters (to SAP):
                    - Student Name [char 10]         ==> "STUNAME"
                    - Student ID         [char 20]        ==> "STUID"
           Return values (From SAP):
                    - Results [char 10]        ==> "RESULT"
                    - Remarks [char 200]        ==> "REMARKS"
    i have managed to get sample codes for connecting and call a RFC function with vb but they only get a return value. How do i retrieve multiple return values like the above function "RESULT" and "REMARKS"?
    Here's my vb code to accessing the function
            Dim R3 As Object
            Dim FBFunc As Object
            Dim returnFunc As Boolean
            Dim connected As Boolean
            R3 = CreateObject("SAP.Functions")
            R3.Connection.Client = "000"
            R3.Connection.User = "BCUSER"
            R3.Connection.Password = "minisap"
            R3.Connection.Language = "DE"
            R3.Connection.System = "dtsystem"
            R3.Connection.Applicationserver = "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx"
            connected = R3.Connection.Logon(0, True)
            If connected <> True Then
                MsgBox("Unable to connect to SAP")
            End If
            FBFunc = R3.add("ZFMTP_RFC_GET_RESULT")
            FBFunc.exports("STUNAME") = "Jonny"
            FBFunc.exports("STUID") = "12345"
            returnFunc = FBFunc.Call() <<== How do i get the return value? or RESULT and REMARKS of the RFC Function?
    thanks alot.

    Hi Gregor,
    Thanks for the link....i am having some doubts with the codes, hope you can clarify them for me if you know the codes..
    Below is the code snippet.
    Set impReturn = CHPASS_FN.Imports("RETURN")  <<=== is RETURN the standard keyword to get a                                                                                return object?
      expPassword.Value = currpass
      expNewPass.Value = newpass
      expFillRet.Value = "1"
    ''' Call change password function
      If CHPASS_FN.Call = True Then
        outFile.Write (", Called Function")
        Message = impReturn("MESSAGE") <<==== So if i have 3 return values..i just replace with the return                                                               value variable names?
        outFile.WriteLine " : " & Message
      Else
        outFile.Write (", Call to function failed")
      End If

  • Business Intellingence Application Server installation hangs !!!

    hello i am trying to install the Oracle Business intelligence 10g Server( the BI components of the AS 10g ) on a Windows XP machine.I know its not supported but no where they say you should not install it, they only say not recommended .
    I successfully installed one instance on one machine, but while installing on a second one the Oracle Universal installer just froze at "java security configuration assistant", looking in the log file i found
    " Start output from spawned process:
    Oracle JAAS [Mon Feb 05 10:37:14 EET 2007]: invoking command:C:\BIToolsHome\ASPlus\dcm\bin\dcmctl.bat resyncInstance "
    With nothing , no errors no output nothing !!
    and it stayed like that for almost an hour and when i tried to stop this component's configuration also no action occured until i decided to stop the installation becasue i had no choice, i couldnt go forward i couldnt go back and i couldnt cancel either , so i forcively terminated the installation . And when i tried to uninstall , also nothing happened the installer just froze again !
    i am trying now to manually complete the configuration using the other machine's log file.
    I have googled for this and seen many occurences of the problem but no specific answer, if anybody could help me i'll be grateful.
    Thanks

    Hello again
    this is crazy, i have tried to uninstall the instance following the instructions you gave me Keith but i couldn't , the uninstal process also froze !! can you believe that !
    it stopped right at the "Deinstall Products" step of Universal installer with a message saying that i have to run "<ORALCE_HOME>\perl\5.6.1\bin\MSWin32-x86\perl.exe <ORALCE_HOME>\bin\deconfig.pl" before proceeding with the uninstallation in order to properly deconfigure the instance,and that after having this completed,i can continue.
    When i ran the command i got (C:\BIToolsHome\ASPlus is my ORACLE_HOME)
    C:/BIToolsHome/ASPlus/jdk/bin/java -classpath C:/BIToolsHome/ASPlus/jlib/DeconfigWrapper.jar;C:/BIToolsHome/ASPlus/jlib/ldapjclnt10.jar;C:/BIToolsHome/ASPlus/jlib/ojmisc.jar;C:/BIToolsHome/ASPlus/opmn

    Home/ASPlus -osso false
    OIDhost not found in ias.properties
    equired parameter OIDhost was not found in ias.properties. This means that this Oracle Home is not registered with Oracle Internet Directory. To deinstall this Oracle Home, you do not have to run this tool. Instead, you can just run Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) and select the "Deinstall" option.
    so far so good, i returned to the OUI and sat their for an hour and nothing happened , it kept displaying the Remove window with the progressing bar stopped at "Synchronizing inventory" (actually the bar never moved it's always at 0)
    and that's it !!
    can you beat that ?!
    and Michael believe me i will never install this software again

    Hi,
    Have you make any change to your system before this problem occures? How about disable Kaspersky temporarilly for test?
    On the other hand, please check Event Log if it identify this problem.
    If problem persists, you can try to perform a Clean Boot to check whether this problem caused by 3rd program or
    service start with system. Refer to the link below for more details.

    It is very common that most of the customers face performance problems during monthend due to high number of batch jobs taking all system resources.
    You may need to look at the available resources and plan for enhancement if required. Schedule batch jobs to off-peak hours and use dedicated servers for batch processing if ur batch job load is high.

  • Application Server - Does it realy work?

    We recently purchased IAS version 9.0.2. We have it running on a dual Xeon 2 Ghz machine with 4gb of Ram, and a very fast raid with WIN 2k SP4. (A pretty beefy server). We have both the infrastructure and Mid Tier on the same box. We have it running as a test environment with only 3 people hitting it (Please keep in mind ONLY 3 people)
    1 - We had to apply 3 patches just to make it function properly.
    2 - The Application server constantly hangs.
    3 - Within portal if you want to hit an external database, you have to create synonyms for every thing you wish to use on the external database (Views, Tables, Etc.)
    My points are:
    1) Does Oracle Beta Test at all!?
    2) Build a Self-Service Portal in Days, Not Months (Quoted from the OTN web site) - VERY Un-realistic!
    3) $40,000 for this software in its current state is INEXCUSABLY!
    If ANYONE at all has had 100% success/satisfaction running IAS Enterprise on a win 2k platform. PLEASE let me know. I Hope that I'm not the only one going through these problems!

    We currently have it running in Win2k on Dual P3 1.4GHz with 2GB of Ram with the Infrastructure and Mid-Tier on the same box. We started having problems with the Report Server hanging but still able to use the Portal, this was happening every 2-3 days. We modified the init.ora file to up the number of processes from the default to 300.
    Since doing this the machine has been up and running reports for a month. :)
    This has also speeded EM up by 20% not sure why but i am glad that it did.
    I only wish Oracle support could have recommended this to me in response to my TAR instead of me having to mess about.
    From the sound of the spec of your box you should get better performance than i get and mine is definitely acceptable.

  • Oracle application server 10.1.3.1.0 install - JAVA error

    Hi Everyone,
    I am trying to Install Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.1.0 on 32 bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.8 (Tikanga)
    When running the Installer, I use the -ignoreSysPrereqs option because 10.1.3.1.0 is only supported with Linux Server 4, I believe. But I know people have installed it on Linux 5.7 and 5.8
    anyways, Oracle application server gets installed and asks me to run root.sh. I run root.sh and then hit the OK button to proceed,
    At this point, it tries to run the configuration assistant and fails right away with the following error:
    Starting to execute configuration assistants
    Launched configuration assistant 'Oracle Application Server Configuration Assistant'
    Tool type is: Optional.
    The command being spawned is: '/u01/app/oracle/product/10.1.3.1/jdk/bin/java -cp /u01/app/oracle/product/10.1.3.1/j2ee/home/applications/ascontrol/ascontrol/WEB-INF/lib/ascontrol.jar:/u01/app/oracle/product/10.1.3.1/j2ee/home/applications/ascontrol/ascontrol/WEB-INF/lib/log4j-core.jar:/u01/app/oracle/product/10.1.3.1/jlib/oraclepki.jar:/u01/app/oracle/product/10.1.3.1/jlib/ojmisc.jar: oracle.sysman.ias.studio.installer.ASControlConfigAssistant -sso false -j2eeinstance home -username oc4jadmin -password Protected value, not to be logged -oraclehome /u01/app/oracle/product/10.1.3.1'
    Start output from spawned process:

    End output from spawned process.
    Configuration assistant "Oracle Application Server Configuration Assistant" failed
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/sysman/ias/studio/installer/ASControlConfigAssistant
    Any ideas? am i missing a library or environment variable?
    Thanks

    I have now set the following environment variables
    ORACLE_BASE
    ORACLE_HOME
    TNS_ADMIN
    PATH
    JAVA HOME
    and now when I try to run opmnctl startall, I get:
    opmnctl: starting opmn and all managed processes...

    -- default linked-in boot block used
    main: NLS initialization failed!!
