In Firefox 5, when I open a new tab, Firefox doesn't switch to it immediately (unlike previous versions). How can I restore this setting?

When opening a new tab Firefox stays on the old tab and doesn't switch to the new one. I couldn't fing where to fix this (in the tools)

Just found out that FoxTab 1.4.2b is causing this problem. Solution? Disable it.

  • I have started using Roboform Lite 2.0.0, after Roboform it takes to much time to open Firefox and when i open a new tab, until the tab is fully loaded, Firefox is not responding. Please help.

    After installing Roboform 2.0.0;
    Starting Firefox started to take too much time.
    When i open a new tab, until the tab is fully loaded and Roboform realizes which website it is, Firefox does not respond.
    When i tell Roboform to fill the username and password fields in a tab, until Roboform submits Firefox does not respond.
    I mean, as if Roboform is not working background and Firefox cannot work multithread because of it. When i navigate from one tab to another, Roboform is also checking the tab and meanwhile Firefox is waiting for Roboform to finish its work.
    Please help me about this problem.

  • How do I get the 9 most popular sites I visit to pop up when I open a new tab (Firefox 5.0 deleted this for me)?

    I just recently downloaded Firefox 5.0 and it appears that they have changed or deleted one of my favorite features. It used to be that when I opened a new tab it would displayed like 9 of my most visited sites. Is this still possible with Firefox 5.0 or is it permanently deleted? If it is possible, how do I alter the settings to get this feature back? Thank you.

    As far as I know, this has never been a feature of Firefox's core. Do you have an addon such as New Tab JumpStart or New Tab King that gave you this feature in Firefox 4? It's possible that whatever addon gave you this feature before hasn't been updated to work with Firefox 5. If you don't want to wait for that addon to update, you could try either of the addons I mentioned above.
    Here's NTJS: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/new-tab-jumpstart/
    And NTK: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/new-tab-king/

  • Updated Firefox, now when I open a new tab, there is two seperate google search bars; how do I get rid of the unnecessary search bar?

    I updated Firefox, and after I restarted it, when I opened a new tab, I found that I now had two Google search bars: one next to where you type web addresses, and one right above my pinned sites (or my frequently visited sites). I'm just trying to:
    1. Figure out why it is necessary to have two of the pretty much identically useful search bars when I really only need one (or can physically type Google in)
    and
    2. How do I get rid of the unnecessary second Google search bar above my frequently visited and therefore pinned sites.
    If you have any ideas of how to remove this annoying addition, I would appreciate it.

    I am guessing that you installed an extension, related to "new tab", which added the first search bar. Firefox 31 in includes a search bar for the "new tab" page; so now you have two.
    Take a look at that extension (Options or Preferences) to see how to disable ones of those 2 search bars. Or see if an update has been released for that extension, specifically for Firefox 31, with an option to disable the search bar.

  • When I open a new tab, firefox automatically opens an undesired site. How do I turn this off?

    Sir,
    When, I open a new tab, an undesired web site is getting opened automatically. I wish to change this setting.
    I wish to open a blank page, when I open a new tab.
    Kindly help me.

    A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).
    If that isn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior.
    *https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
    You can middle-click or hold down Ctrl and left-click the Home button on the Navigation toolbar to open the Home page in a new tab.
    You can look at this extension to set which page to open in a new tab:
    *NewTabURL : https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/newtaburl/

  • How do I keep my browsing window the same size everytime I start Firefox and when I open in new tab

    I can't see the the words unless I hit control and plus to view bigger. I used to be able to have the bigger size every time I opened Fire Fox and would not change when I open in new tab, now I click control and plus to make bigger, I click open in new tab and it's small again, every time I open Fire Fox everything is small letters so I have to control and plus all the time.

    The size, in pixels, is staying the same. Most of the time, this is the way you should think of image size. Working in inches is only meaningful when you are about to print.
    In your example, if the piece you have added is too small, select it and use Transform to make it bigger. This is upsampling, so quality may be compromised.

  • When I open a new tab, it DOESN'T show my top sites.

    So, when I opened a new tab, it used to go to the "top sites" page, but now it's going to this site: search.conduit.com/?gd=&ctid=CT3324415&octid=EB_ORIGINAL_CTID&ISID=M77E53D47-0CB9-4A9A-AC0A-8EBB5A0AC2DE&SearchSource=69&CUI=&SSPV=&Lay=1&UM=2&UP=SPB8ACF8E9-DA2F-45D0-B790-530FBBDECD53
    How do I get it to go to the "top sites" page again like it used to. I don't know what's causing it to go to this other site. Thanks.

    For future reference, there's a hidden setting for the new tab here:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''newtab''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click the '''browser.newtab.url''' preference and enter your preferred page:
    * ''Page thumbnails (default)'' => about:newtab
    * ''Blank tab'' => about:blank
    * ''Built-in Firefox home page'' => about:home
    * ''Any other page'' => full URL to the page
    Press Ctrl+t to open a new tab and verify that it worked. Fixed?

  • I am running Firefox 4 - when I open a new tab, my recent history shows - how can I get this to work in Firefox 6?

    When opening a new tab, by clicking the + sign, in FF4, recent history and frequented web pages appear. I cannot get this to repeat in later versions of FF - 5 or 6. I like this feature - can I utilize it in FF6? I am running Vista Home Premium 6.06002 SP2 on a Gateway (emachines) T5246 Athlon 64 4200+ 2.2mHz dual core with 2 GB RAM.

    The Ask Toolbar is causing that in the Firefox 3.6.13+ versions. Uninstall that extension.
    There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:
    * Check the Windows Control panel for the Ask Toolbar - http://about.ask.com/apn/toolbar/docs/default/faq/en/ff/index.html#na4
    * Also check your list of extensions, you may be able to uninstall it from there - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons

  • When I downloaded new version of firefox, the feature where when I open a new tab a page loads that contains mini-windows containing my most visited sites. where is this feature now!?

    So with the new version of firefox I lost the feature where, whenever I opened a new tab, instead of a blank tab page, a page would appear that contained mini-windows containing pics of all my most often used websites. I could then simply click on one of maybe six windows to go directly to my most used sites. What happened to this? I really, really, really miss this feature. How can I get it back?

    The Google Toolbar and other extensions for Firefox include a list of compatible Firefox versions. Currently, the Google Toolbar only goes up to Firefox 4. However, people have tested and it actually works on Firefox 5, so there are two workarounds:
    (1) Edit a file to revise the range of compatible versions
    (2) Install an add-on that lets you ignore the range of compatible versions
    This thread has info on both approaches: [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/837142 google toolbar does not work with firefox 5.0. why not! | Firefox Support Forum | Firefox Help].

  • When I open a new tab is doesn't open to my set homepage as it would if opening firefox from start. It instead opens to a "default" page with pogo powered by yahoo, I want to change to google. How do I do this?

    Opening firefox from begining, I have been able to set it to always open to google as it was in my old firefox default settings. If I remember correctly when you opened a tab, it would automatically open to the homepage. I'm not expierencing this with the new version. It is automatically going to the default page rather than the set homepage. (I just have learned to prefer the google search over the yahoo search over the years and am resistant to changing over, sorry)

  • When I make a new Calendar event the phone loads, and then the event disappears! How can I fix this?

    On my iPhone 4 8GB unlocked (iOS 6), whenever I try to make a new event in Apples Calendar app, when I am done making the event, the phone shows a small loading circle in the top bar and when that loading circle stops the event disappears. I checked my iCloud Calendar in case it stored it there or something but no that was empty. And making an event in the iCloud Calendar app does not make it sync the event to my iPhone 4 either so I basically cannot make any events at the moment. Help!
    EDIT:
    I just went into the iCloud settings and saw that the Calendar iCloud sync was turned on. So I turned it off, waited, turned it back on again and now I see the events again, and I can make them without them dissapearing immediately. Stupid bug.

  • How do I get rid of Yahoo when I open a new tab?

    My home page is set to Firefox but when I open a new tab, the tab is not Firefox with all my most visited sites! it's Yahoo.

    Here are some potential diagnoses and remedies when you run into problems with that setting:
    ''If Firefox won't let you edit this setting in about:config:'' you may have something called SearchProtect on your system. This needs to be removed from the Windows Control Panel.
    ''If Firefox lets you save your change but ignores it:'' one of your extensions may be overriding it. You can review, disable, and/or remove extensions on the add-ons page. Either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
    In the left column, click Extensions. Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right and disable (or remove) anything unknown.
    ''If the change works during your session, but at the next startup is back to the unwanted page:'' you might have a user.js file in your personal Firefox settings folder (your Firefox profile folder). This article describes how to track down and remove the file: [[How to fix preferences that won't save]]. Also, Advanced SystemCare can cause this.
    Any luck?
