In need of a jsp book :)

I'm planning on converting a asp website to jsp and I need to figure out the following:
1: servlet that gives out connection objects from a pool and manages "lost" connections to a mysql db
2: a bean that has getConnection and closeConnection that is used on every jsp page.
3: servlet/bean that can check size/dimesions/filetype on a remote url image
4: Figure out what users are logged in at every given moment. result: x users are on, these are user1, user2, user3. automatic removal when session runs out. probably need a servlet for this.
Its been 3 years since I've touched java so i hope you guys can recomend a jsp book that can answer these questions for me and help me get started with this project?

Yeah youre right, I should have specified that.
I got these books:
deitel java how to program 3rd edition
deitel advanced java 2 platform how to program
the last ook has a servlet and jsp section ut I suspect that java has evolved since then so thats why I'm asking if you have any other suggestions that offer more than 2 chapters. Its really basic the stuff i have :)

What's the JSP Book to start learning JSP?

I urgently need to learn JSP and i've been searching but i need an advice on which book i should get.
I want to learn as fast as possible, but i really want to learn good JSP... so i give more importance on the content than just learning basics in 3 days.
One more thing, i know how to program in ASP, JavaScript and basic Java.

I have already gone through "Head First JSP and servlets"...but it is more dedicated towards SCWCD...
so this time i wish to take sugessions before picking up a book...

Best Practical JSP Book for PHP developer

Hi Friends,
I am new to JSP and want learn basics of JSP so that I can do simple web page works.
I am a PHP developer with one and half years of experience.
Can anybody tell me what is the best JSP book for beginners or any web link with lots of simple jsp example?

Before you learn JSP, you need to learn Java. I heard 'Head First in Java' is a good book. Install Eclipse IDE (its free) and work through some of the book's examples in it (as you read the book from cover to cover). Then Install Tomcat (its free) and the tomcat plugin for Eclipse (its free). Then read a book on JSP (cover to cover). I like the book 'JSP in action'. It covers both JSP and servlets. Then, create a hello world JSP in Eclipse, then a hello world servlet in Eclipse.

Suggest some jsp books.

i'm an experienced web developper using either perl or classic asp. I want to ramp up to jsp.
It's not likely i'll ever build non web java applications

I, too, have experience with web programming (ASP) and previous experience with COBOL (don't laugh).
Though I'd love to do it, I just don't have the time to learn Java FIRST. I did a Google search on JSP and found a few references to books that took the approach of teaching JSP and then having you learn Java as a result, but then when I tracked down the books on Amazon, they were either very old or not recommended because of errors in the samples.
I will learn Java eventually, but right now I need to learn JSP/containers/servlets and so on FIRST, apply it to a web problem, and from there deepen my understanding of Java.
Anyone have any suggestions?

I have for the past three and a half hours have been trying to redeem my itunes gift card. It is for $25.00 and I need to purchase a book. My card is unreadable....The first letters and numbers are fine but the middle....looks like four numbers/letters combination is missing and then the last four digits are fine. I have typed in what looks just like the letters and it says invalid everytime. So I went to express and did what they said and still it says invalid. I don't want to throw 25.00 dollars down the drain. Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem?

The Intuit rep said they don't "support" QuickbooksPremier on a "virtual machine." Do you know what I risk by using it, anyway? thanks for the advice about Boot Camp vs Parallels, BTW!
I use QuickBooks Pro for Mac, so I haven't had need to try any of the Windows versions in a VM. But I can't think why it wouldn't work. From within the VM, QuickBooks Premier would believe it is operating on PC hardware within Windows.
I would guess they mean that the multiple user support wouldn't work from within the VM. But I would think that would also work. Windows can see the Internet from within the VM, which means it can see your network. So if Windows can see the network, then QB Premier should be able to, too.
I know you can get Parallels as a demo, and maybe you could get QB Premier as trial software. So if you already have a retail copy of Windows to load into a VM, it would only cost you time to test what's possible.

you might want to check your battery. my MacBook was freezing up a lot too. and just this morning wouldn't even start. tho it was plugged in. fooled around with the plug, still no go.
Checked battery. fully charged.
took it out, and it wouldn't go back in, then noticed there's a slight bulge on the inside.
This is definitely not good.
So plugged it in without the battery. started up fine. and has not frozen yet. while looking for battery replacements on eBay. for hours now. lots of really inexpensive replacemnt ones.
if that is your problem, check seller's reliability first.

I need to print a book as a booklet.

I need to print a book as a booklet. but the annoying default feature of adobe allows me to print only in the order (page 1 and 8 in the same side of sheet and so on, so that when i bind it it'll come in order.) now what if i don't wanna bind it and i wish to just have it as it is, i.e) page 1 and 2 on the same side of sheet, page 3 and 4 in the back side of same sheet and so on?
