  • Setting Up the SOAHello Applicaiton

    The install instruction specify 3 environment variables and I would like confirmation and clarificaiton regarding these please.
    JOH: This is just the root directory where I unzip the jdevstudio11 application?
    JDEV_USER_DIR: This is a new directory that I create on the same drive as my JOH is on?
    JAVA_HOME: Points to the Java SE 5 JDK.
    Regarding JAVA_HOME, if I'm reading the setup correctly then there is a Java SE 5 JDK included in the unzipped jdevstudio directory (ex: C:\Oracle\JDeveloper11g\jdk) and I should point to this JDK since this is the one used to build the jdevstudio?
    If I'm not to point to the jdk directory within the unzipped file path should I download a particular release of Java to point to? Also, the extracting the downloaded Java it places the jdk in the Program Files/Java directory which would appear to violate the no space requirement. Would I then need to copy this to a different directory without spaces?

    See inline here:
    JOH: This is just the root directory where I unzip the jdevstudio11 application?
    [Heidi] Correct. This env variable is only necessary for following the instructions in the document. The software doesn't use it.
    JDEV_USER_DIR: This is a new directory that I create on the same drive as my JOH is on?
    [Heidi] Yes: New. No spaces in path. Same drive as JOH.
    JAVA_HOME: Points to the Java SE 5 JDK.
    [Heidi] Yes. Used if using base version of JDev. We recommend full version for Windows so you do not set it in that case.

    [Heidi] JAVA_HOME should not be set at all when using the full (non-base) version of JDev.
    If I'm not to point to the jdk directory within the unzipped file path should I download a particular release of Java to point to? [Heidi] If you do download Java and install it then yes, move it outside of that path with spaces (this is a temporary problem in TP3 only and will be fixed).

    # cd java-home
    # ln -s bin sh
    # cd jre
    # ln -s bin sh* You may have to fix soft links in your JDK (especially links which point to /usr/java5/jre/bin) if your JDK is not installed on your local machine and you have copied that directory to another machine : for instance <JAVA-HOME>/bin/java should point to ../jre/bin/java rather than /usr/java5/jre/bin

    o Go to [http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/java/jdk/security/50/#sdkpol|http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/java/jdk/security/50/#sdkpol]

    o Unzip unrestrict142.zip file and replace the two jars (US_export_policy.jar and local_policy.jar) in appropriate places in JDK.
    Same steps for JDK 6.

  • JFileChooser not show files and folders

    I had a java program using JFileChooser to open files. It worked fine on my Linux Redhat 7.
    Recently, I upgrade to Linux Fedora 5. I found the FileChooser does not show any directories or files for me to chose from. It's just and empty FileChooser Window. It has a couple options by the "Look In:" combobox, but again there is nothing to chose from in the window where the folders and files should show up.
    I download JFileChooserDemo.java sample program from sun's website, the sample
    program has the same problem. I tried the same program on my window XP, it worked well.
    I believe it's something related to system setting.
    Do anyone know what happened?
    Thanks.

    I suspect that you are using the version of Java that comes with FC5. Try telling your application to use the version of Java you have downloaded from Sun (You did download and install a version from Sun). You can do this in several ways but two obvious ones are
    a) Give the full path to the java version you are using. On my FC5 this is
    /usr/local/jdk/jre/bin/java
    b) Place your jdk bin directory very early in the PATH so that the search finds it first.

  • The Java Launcher and Vista

    I trying to set up the Java Launcher program so I can use it in the windows command line by just entering java. How do I do this?

    This works pretty much the same was as for previous versions of Windows -- place your JDK directory's "bin" subdirectory in your path and all of the Java executables, including the Java launcher, will then be in your path and run without specifying the specific directory they are in each time. See end of [this blog entry|http://marxsoftware.blogspot.com/2008/07/visualvm-included-in-java-se-6-update-7.html] for additional details.

    Due to a change in how Oracle handles the Java SE License Agreement

    ==> ERROR: You need to place the tarball in the right location
    I have downloaded the java tarball and placed it in the correct directory. Still get same errors as above,
    any ideas why?

    Thanks for your offering. I have a bit of house cleaning and rearranging due
    to my knowing I bought the CS4 software and had installed it and thinking
    things would work as before I did not realize that by buying and installing
    another software program Proshow Producer on an external HD and then
    learning from the company that it had to be on C:/ to work properly. That
    forced moving other things around, like CS2, CS3 and  CS4 and leaving CS on
    C:/ then reinstalling Producer as CS works fine for the pictures used in
    Producer and all related files on C: as all my other working photos had to
    move with the software!! With 5 and a half terabits on 6 external HD's I got
    careless and did not properly set things set up as I should have in
    anticipation of my current problem and Adobe's programers, not being mind
    readers programmed things to look on C: when CS2,3, and 4 lived elsewhere.
    It's all a mess but I do have my serial numbers and did discover, thanks to
    your Creative Suite Cleaner Tool offering I found a link to Adobe's original
    CS4 trial files that I was told by Adobe were no longer available due to CS6
    and I can re-download CS4 there and use it since at the moment my CS4 is
    hiding from me. I think a clean re-installation should work before running
    the 'cleaner' with its' gottchas.  I shall send a later follw up when things
    are successfully reloaded. If you think of anything else of value, I would
    certainly appreciate your knowledge!

  • How to install and configure WebLogic 10.3 to use 64-bit JDK?

    Hi,
    Is there a preferred/supported way to configure WebLogic to use the 64-bit JRockit that comes with JRockit Mission Control?
    I can't find any official documentation about how to configure WebLogic to use a 64-bit JDK. From other forum posts I can tell we need to use the 64-bit JRockit that is bundled with JRockit Mission Control (available at [http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/jrockit/index.html]) but then we are kind of stuck - the configure script which let me select a JDK for a domain doesn't seem to let me re-configure an existing domain, and I can't find anything within the admin console that would let me set the JDK to use.
    I was able to rename the existing jrockit_160_05 directory to e.g. jrockit_160_05_original and then rename the jrmc directory to "jrockit_160_05", effectively taking the place of the JDK being used but this seemed like a bad way to do it. I also found via Google this page: [http://java.sodeso.nl/application-servers/bea-weblogic/how-can-i-change-the-jdk-installation-that-weblogic-uses] which basically says to modify the JAVA_HOME environment variable in the start scripts, but this seems like the same thing.
    With the plethora of products and the different ways they are bundled, combined with all the documentation about everything, I thought I would find something but I keep coming up blank. Does anyone have suggestions or pointers?
    Thanks,
    KaJun

    Make sure your environment configuration is supported here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/files/fusion_certification.html
    Then, you need to have the correct 64bit JDK installed. Sounds like you have done that.
    Then download and run the generic platform installer as described here with your 64bit supported JDK:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/doc.1111/e14142/start.htm#i1077535
    Notice how the link you post has the generic installer for all the 64bit JVM rows, but the other installer for the 32bit JVMs on the 64bit OS?

  • Problem with Managed Server pointing to a different JDK

    Hi,
    My Adminserver is pointing to JDK 1.7 which is shown in the startup, but my managed servers are pointing to a different 1.6_43 . We are running into Java version mismatch problem while deploying our application built with jdk 1.7 onto these managed servers . How do i change the version of my managed server ?
    Thanks
    Sam

    Hi Sam,
    You generally only have to change it in two places.
    DOMAIN_HOME/bin/setDomainEnv.sh and MW_HOME/wlserver_12.1/common/bin/commEnv.sh
    See examples below.
    If you are on Linux you can quickly fix it. For example:
    cd /u01/app/oracle/product/fmw
    find . -type f -exec sed -i "s/\/u01\/app\/oracle\/product\/jdk1.6.0_39/\/u01\/app\/oracle\/product\/java_current/g" {} \;
    It is a good idea to make a softlink to your Java installation, then you will not have this problem in the future. If you are on Windows you can use a symlink.
    Linux example:
    ln -s /u01/app/oracle/product/jdk1.7.0_25 /u01/app/oracle/product/java_current
    Windows example:
    mklink /d D:\oracle\product\java_current D:\oracle\product\jrockit-jdk1.6.0_26-R28.1.4-4.0.1
    setDomainEnv.sh
    /u01/app/oracle/domains/eksudv/bin/setDomainEnv.sh
    if [ "${JAVA_VENDOR}" = "Oracle" ] ; then
            JAVA_HOME="${BEA_JAVA_HOME}"
            export JAVA_HOME
    else
            if [ "${JAVA_VENDOR}" = "Sun" ] ; then
                    JAVA_HOME="${SUN_JAVA_HOME}"
                    export JAVA_HOME
            else
                    JAVA_VENDOR="Sun"
                    export JAVA_VENDOR
                    JAVA_HOME="/u01/app/oracle/product/java_current"
                    export JAVA_HOME
            fi
    fi
    commEnv.sh
    /u01/app/oracle/product/fmw/wlserver_12.1/common/bin/commEnv.sh
    # Reset JAVA_HOME, JAVA_VENDOR and PRODUCTION_MODE unless JAVA_HOME
    # and JAVA_VENDOR are pre-defined.
    if [ -z "${JAVA_HOME}" -o -z "${JAVA_VENDOR}" ]; then

    JFrame frame = new JFrame("ScrollDemo2");
    frame.addWindowListener(new WindowAdapter() {
    public void windowClosing(WindowEvent e) {System.exit(0);}
    frame.setContentPane(new ScrollDemo2());
    frame.pack();
    frame.setVisible(true);

    I tried it . It didn't work.
    Thanks for the suggestionI've got it... I know that inside the paitComponet method you can't call setSize() in jdk1.4, but you could in previous versions... that has caused al lot of problems to me...

  • What values to place in signer.properties file for Webutil configuration

    Hi. I'm not sure of what value to place in JDK_HOME in signer.properties for Webutil configuration. My current settings are:
    JDK_HOME=D:\ora9i\jdk
    JINIT_HOME=C:\Archivos de programa\Oracle\JInitiator 1.3.1.13
    #Certificate settings:
    # These are used to generate the initial signing certificate
    # Change them to suite your organisation
    DN_CN=Product Management
    DN_OU=Development Tools
    DN_O=Oracle
    DN_C=US
    JAR_KEY=webutil
    JAR_KEY_PASSWORD=webutil
    Is JDK_HOME the jdk for oracle or SDK for windows machine(how to find?)?. Also how do i repeat the process of makecert and signing of webutil.jar and jacob.jar?. If i try to repeat this process I get the following warnings or error?
    Makecert:
    keytool error: java.lang.Exception: Key pair not generated, alias <webutil> already exists
    Certificate created...

    JDK_HOME is just the location of a Java distribution with Keytool in it - have a look at the signer batch file and you'll see how each variable is used. Also if you run keytool from the command prompt it will show you the commands to delete and existing Key or list the keys that are currently stored.

  • Cannot Install Java JDK on Windows 7 Home Premium

    Hello all, I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post this question. I have an issue trying to install ANY JDK on Windows 7 Home Premium. When I run the install it throws an Error: 1722. I've tried looking around on Google but haven't found much. Has anyone else has this error?

    I tried to install the windows7 64-bit jdk on my windows7 64-bit computer with 2 browsers, chrome and firefox. There was no difference between browsers. Then, I repeatedly installed and uninstalled many, many times, trying to figure out what was wrong.
    After an easy install, I click on the jdk program to try to use it, and I get a pop-up saying something like, you have already installed this, do you want to install it again? That is all I get from the installed jdk program, there is nothing else the program will do, only give me that pop-up.
    I then read and studied all the online info from all the java websites. Their website info does not mention this problem. Then I did all the you tube videos that deal with this problem. After watching a you tube video, I clicked start, and typed in cmd, and then typed javac; the message I am given is that javac is not recognized as a command.
    Then, I tried to contact the java/oracle company many different ways, with chat and email, and got NO response; they are not addressing or responding to this situation in any way.
    Last night, I contacted my computer company, and after speaking with them, they are saying they will go into my computer and make the necessary software changes to the windows 7 so that the java jdk will be properly working. Sounds great, but - they want to charge me a lot of $$MONEY. I got two price quotes, $80 and $89. It is not free, which is frustrating. The java download is free, but I do I have to pay to get it properly installed on my computer? Can anyone provide wise advise? Is there any way I can get it properly installed for free?
    Also, someone mentioned that maybe my Norton Antivirus is preventing the proper jdk install, but I doubt it, since the norton antivirus has never before given me any problem.
    Please help. Thanks!

  • JComboBox event notification when select first entry in pop-up menu JDK 6

    I recently began testing a Java GUI, I originally developed with JDK 1.5.0_11, with JDK 1.6.0_3. I have used the JComboBox in several applications developed using JDK 1.3.x and 1.4.x over the years. In every one of these earlier JDKs the JComboBox widgets all behaved the same. When you select the JComboBox widget, the pop-up menu appears and you can select any of the items from the menu list. Having made the selection with either a mouse click or a key press, an event notification is sent. Typically, an ActionEvent as well as either a mouse click event or a keypressed event may be sent. When testing with 1.6.0_x versions of the JDK and JRE, I can't account for any event notification being sent when selecting the first item at the top of the pop-up menu as the initial selection. If I select some other item on the list and then the first item, it works as it is supposed to work, but only after selecting another item first.
    I've placed the JComboBox in a JDialog and a JPanel. There are NO AWT widgets in any containers of the application. The same behavior seems to exist regardless of what other containing Swing component I place the JComboBox in. I'm running these applications on Windows XP, service pack 2. The system is an AMD 64 bit dual processor with 4Gb of RAM. The essential code follows:
    private JComboBox getJcboAlias()
        /* Note here that I am using a defaultComboModel as I have always done */
       jcboAliases = new JComboBox(urls);
       *jcboAliases.setEditable(false);*                               // Note here that the JComboBox is NOT editable
       jcboAliases.addActionListener(new ActionListener()   // ActionListener only receives a notification if the second or
       {                                                                            // another item in the pop-menu list is selected...but never the
          public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent ae)           // first item in the list
             String s = (String) jcboAliases.getSelectedItem();
             for (int i = 0; i < connections.size(); i++)
                conAlias = (String[]) connections.get(i);
                if (s.equals(conAlias))
    isSelected = true;
    break;
    jlblName.setVisible(true);
    jlblAlias.setVisible(true);
    jlblUID.setVisible(true);
    jlblPWD.setVisible(true);
    jtxtName.setText(conAlias[0]);
    jtxtName.setVisible(true);
    jtxtAddress.setText(conAlias[1]);
    jtxtAddress.setVisible(true);
    jtxtUID.setText(conAlias[2]);
    jtxtUID.setVisible(true);
    jtxtPWD.setVisible(true);
    jtxtPWD.setText("");
    jtxtPWD.requestFocus();
    return jcboAliases;
    }    I'm using a non-editable JComboBox because there is a pop-up menu with this and not with the JList widget.  JComboBox behaves more like the JList MicroSoft counterpart.  Another code snippet follows in which the JComboBox is editable.  The same errant behavior occurs when selecting the first item from the pop-up menu: private JComboBox getJcboPCMember()
    jcboPCMember = new JComboBox(PCViewerCustom.getCurrentMembers());
    jcboPCMember.setBounds(250, 103, 180, 20);
    jcboPCMember.setToolTipText("PATHCHECK(ER) member name - Example: CKPPTHCK");
    jcboPCMember.setSelectedIndex(Integer.valueOf(PCViewerCustom.getCurrentHost(3)));
    jcboPCMember.setEditable(true); // Note here that this JComboBox IS editable
    jcboPCMember.addActionListener(new ActionListener()
    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent ae)
    if (ae.getActionCommand().equals("comboBoxEdited"))
    boolean copy = false;
    for (int i = 0; i < jcboPCMember.getItemCount(); i++)
    if (jcboPCMember.getSelectedItem().equals(jcboPCMember.getItemAt(i)))
    copy = true;
    break;
    if (!copy)
    if (jcboPCMember.getItemCount() > 0)
    if (jcboPCMember.getItemAt(0).equals("No Entries"))
    jcboPCMember.removeItem("");
    jcboPCMember.removeItem("No Entries");
    jcboPCMember.insertItemAt((String) jcboPCMember.getSelectedItem(), 0);
    else
    jcboPCMember.removeItem("");
    jcboPCMember.addItem((String) jcboPCMember.getSelectedItem());
    enableJbtnOK();
    else
    if (jcboPCMember.getSelectedIndex() >= 0)
    PCViewerCustom.setCurrentHost(3, Integer.toString(jcboPCMember.getSelectedIndex()));
    enableJbtnOK();
    else
    JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "Name not selected", "Error", JOptionPane.ERROR_MESSAGE);
    return jcboPCMember;
         I am able to add a new entry to the JComboBox, however, I am still unable to select the first item from the pop-up menu and fire any kind of notification event.  I have not seen this behavior before in any earlier versions of the JDK and it's playing havoc with my ability to deploy the application into a JDK or JRE V6 environment, without adding a bunch of additional code to pre-select the first item on the list, which pretty much defeats the purpose of the JComboBox.  I'll be the first to admit I've done something wrong, but i've built a number of test scenarios now on two systems runing Win XP SP2 and I get the same errant behavior.  I've also added in event listeners for a MouseListerner, a KeyListener and an ItemListener.  Still no event notification on this first item in the list.  Again, however, if I select one of the other items from the pop-up menu list and then select the first item, all is well.  Imagine selling that method of operation to a user....  It occurs to me that this must be a bug in the V6 JComboBox.  I wanted to post this here first, however, in order to determine if this is, in fact, a bug - in other words, am I the only one seeing this, or is this a more widespread issue?  Any assistance in making this determination is greatly appreciated.

  • JavaFX and JDK 1.7.x? (x=latest minor build as of 5/13)

    Good morning.
    I was playing around with building a standalone GUI app last night and wanted to test drive JavaFX 2.0 as the tool to build the UI. After reading through the documentation on the download site, I downloaded the JDK version 1.7.x (64 bit) and tried to create a simple main class based on http://docs.oracle.com/javafx/2/get_started/hello_world.htm--but eclipse could not find javafx.application.Application. I made sure that the JDK 1.7 was my target Java and in my build path then decided to try the 32 bit version. I still could not find javafx.application.Application in my build path. So...I downloaded the latest JavaFX package and installed that, pulling in the correct jars (I forget what they are offhand...it was late and FX is new to me) and I could now find javafx.application.Application. My question is this...did they not bundle FX with the jdk as the documentation claims, or was I missing something when I downloaded the installer (for Windows)?
    Thank you in advance!
    -Chris

    My question is this...did they not bundle FX with the jdk as the documentation claims, or was I missing something when I downloaded the installer (for Windows)?JavaFX is bundled with java 7 (post update 6).
    JavaFX is not on the classpath for java 7.
    JavaFX is on the classpath for java 8.
    For eclipse development, development with e(fx)clipse is recommended http://www.efxclipse.org/ - it is smart enough to find out where JavaFX is in a standard Java 7 installation and place it in the classpath so that you don't get class not found exceptions while developing. It can also create deployment bundles which are able to automatically find and place JavaFX on the classpath so that users of your application don't have this issue either.
