Linking parameters

Hi All,
I have a main report having 5 sub report inside it.This main report is just a container report only.
I kept all sub reports in different report footer sections.
Now I have a transid parameter for all the sub reports coming from query.
But in my main report I don't have transid parameter.So
1) Can I make a report level parameter transid in main report and link to all sub reports
2 )My main report not connected with any data source where as my sub reports connected with one data source.So will there be any problem with this.
I mean my sub report will get the data from database.
Please suggest

Hi Divya,
Yes, you can create a 'Static' TransID prompt in the Main report and link it to the TransID field/Prompt in all the Subreports.
I don't see any issues in doing this and the Subrepor should return data for the entered TransID.
P.S: Just make sure each Subreport has a Record Selection Formula (If they're based on tables or views) E.g:
{TransID} = {?Pm-TransID}
If they're based on Stored Proc or SQL Query, make sure you have a prompt in the source. So you would need to link the TransID prompt from the Main report to this prompt in the Subreport.

  • Link Parameters from Report to Form in Insert Mode

    It seems like it should be possible to use the Report wizard to add a link to a form, select some link parameters using the Edit Link function, and then when one clicks on the link it would open the form in insert mode with the link parameters filled in as defaults. Instead what happens is it tries to open the form in update mode with a row that matches the link parameters, and if it can't find a match it opens in insert mode with no parameters filled in. I want it to always open in insert mode and with the passed parameters filled in.
    I've looked through all the documentation I have access to and have been through all the Portal FAQ's on OTN and can find nothing on this. There were a few questions in the FAQ's that told how to do it in PL/SQL, but I don't know how to get access to which instance of the link was selected by the user through PL/SQL, and it seems like there should be a way to do this from within the report wizard.
    Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
    Best Regards,
    Jim Bladen

    If your report is created using ‘Reports From SQL Query’ then you can modify it using the following to achieve this:
    1. Remove the link from ‘Column Formatting’ section of the report object.
    2. In the SQL of the report , use custom link to the column where you want to provide link using the syntax
    select a.empno,’‘||a.ename||’‘ ename_link,a.deptno
    from scott.emp a
    Order by a.empno
    and the form will always open in ‘INSERT’ mode with passed values filled in.

  • Linking parameters in a subreport

    Hello All,
    How do i link parameters in a sub report.
    I have 2 subreports and I have to link them with cascading dynamic parameters
    For the first sub report I an using 1st level of the parameter and for second report I am using  2 level of the dynamic parameter. Can someone please tell me how to link.
    The steps i know are:
    rt click on subreport>> click change sudreport links.
    After this do i have to link each report with all the 4 parameters or what??
    Any suggestions on this will be very helpful and please respond asap.
    Thanks
    Robinn

    Do you have the cascading prompt in main report? if so when you create a cascading prompt you will get different parameter for each one like this
    suppose if you create a cascading parameter with the name MyParameter and added the values
    country,region,city as cascading. Now when you click on the last column "click here to add parameters" in the edit parameter window it will add 3 parameters like
    {?MyParameter-Country}
    {?MyParameter-Region}
    {?MyParameter-City}
    Now you can link these parameter to your subreport by right clicking on the subreport select "change sub report links" add {?MyParameter-Country} from main report and link it with the country parameter field from the subreport.
    Now for the other subreport add the other two parameters from main report and link them with corresponding parameters in subreport2.
    Hope this helps!

  • Linking parameters.. how?

    I have a situation where three different layers and parameters for location need to all be adjusted in unison i.e. when an image moves location, so must a mask on a different layer and so must the centre point of an effect all to that same location.
    I thought rigs may be able to help with this but am confused. When I add all these to a slider, they are still all separate.
    How do I turn these into a single control for position of all three?
    Once I can do this, I then want to animate this location with a motion path. I think I can do that fine once they are all linked.
    Thanks in advance,
    John

    Thanks. That link behavior seems to work well for moving an image and a mask on a background layer simultaneously.
    However, when I try to do the same for the centre position of an effect, it will only let me link to four corner values which seems just totally bizarre. It will not give me the option of linking the centre to the position of the mask for instance.
    How do I link an effect position parameter to an image position parameter?

  • Hyperlink column with link parameters as region column values

    On my APEX page i have region which has sql query as source and it displays as HTML table the query result to the user.
    I want to display addinonal column with a hyperlink inside, and that hyperlink would have CGI/URL-parameters which contains the other values of the HTML row.
    So, let's say my APEX region queryes columns as "select c1, c2, c3, c4 ..." and displays out values "V1, V2, V3, V4" then i want to have addional output column with such hyperlink:
        a href="f?p=100:7:13467554876288::NO::c1,c2,c3,c4:v1,v2,v3,v4">My link column with CGI-parameters</aHow can i create such hyperlink?
    The overall idea is that the link would forward to a page which loads those values "v1,v2,v3,v4" into form fields and user can proceed from there.

  • PDF HTML links/parameters

    Are there any parameters you can add to the end of a PDF HTML link to make it open in a particular size (such as 80%)?  I guess this assumes that the user is using an Adobe product to open a PDF but i was curious.

    Thanks for the reply.  If I include parameters in a URL and a person has a PDF viewer other than Adobe, do those parameters cause a problem?

  • Linking Parameters to sub report from main report.

    When we link a formula in a main report to a sub report parameter and then use the sub report parameter in a SQL Command to an Oracle database, the Crystal Report works in Crystal Reports 2008 but not in  CRFE 2.0 SP1. Please help how to do this. I'm restoring the sub report links after changing the database connection info as per Ted's advice in another thread. Please note that I can see and print the parameters being passed in the sub report. It's only that I can not use it in the SQL command.

    Hi Thomas,
    Thanks for the idea but the problem is not that simple, as I'm developing a framework for Crystal Reports 2008 for use at work for future projects. It is not developer-friendly for developers who will use the framework to have a pre-processing just to predict the values they will use for the sub-reports and feed it via the main report (we will not be even sure of the number of parameters to allot for the subreport if that was the case) when all they really needed was a single value.
    e.g. Reports on Departments in a Location (parameter) and the Officers in each Location
    Main Report will query for the Departments in a certain location and other information about it
    Sub report will query for the Officers in the department and their Information (linked to main report via department ID)
    All the developer needed to provide was the Location parameter. I can't make it hard for them so that they need to revise their templates because the new JRC can't process this template. The said template worked in JRC in Crystal Reports XI, that's why I'm thinking there should be a way (I might just have made a mistake or two in what I'm doing in the new JRC). Or is there a bug in the new JRC? I'm hoping for our SAP forum guys here (Ted or other people from SAP) to clear this up.
    Thanks a lot.
    Regards,
    Rizza

    Hi Vikram
    Oh gosh, me and my big mouth!
    Patch 5381032 has two references to issues with links. You might want to discuss your scenario with Oracle and ask them if this patch would resolve your issue.
    Another solution would be to upgrade to 10.1.2.2 (available as a patch on MetaLink) which has most of the fixes from all of the patches applied. Again I would advise you speak with Oracle Support as they are the only one who can actually confirm whether this particular issue was fixed in this release.
    Are you by any chance seeing zero numbers display as 00 and are you seeing any graying out of icons? If so, then patch 5345595 (sometimes referred to as 5345528) fixes this and is a good patch to apply if you haven't already done so.
    All of these patches require a password which can only be obtained from Oracle by raising a service request to Support and stating the issues that you have.
    Hope this helps
    Regards
    Michael

  • Link for BLOB column in report?

    Hi all,
    I wonder if it is possible to declare a blob colum (displayed image) as a link.
    What I try to do is to display images in a report and give the user the option to just click on the image an get a popup window where he/she can change or delete the image. As far as I have seen this is not possible with the standard link declaration. You can fill in the link parameters but this has no effect on the generated page.
    Thanks
    Andy

    I eventually found another post: APEX_UTIL.GET_BLOB was not found on this server
    In this post there is the suggestion of putting "dbms_lob.getlength("var")" after the date field in your select. So I changed my query to have it at the end, and now my format mask (DOWNLOAD:table_name:ATTACHED_FILE:FILE_ID::FILE_MIME_TYPE:FILE_NAME:::attachment:Download) works like a charm, in a classic report.

  • Pass parameters to a report instance, or filter an instance of a report

    Hi,
      I am using Web Elements as linked reports with no problems for on demand reports but I need to run an instance of a report and then use a web elements/opendocument link to a subset of that data.
    Basically I have a report on a college that drills down to campus and then course level.  If I have an on demand subreport (via web elements link) to a course, linking course code then it brings up the 20 or so students on that report on the fly - taking < 30 seconds.
    The problem is that I need this at Campus level as well.  If I do it on the fly by linking on Campus instead of course, it times-out due to the large numbers of student records in the detail level.
    If I change the link from the main report to point to the instance of the report I get all records, not just the campus I need (I get all campuses).
    I then put in parameters to just select the required campus within the Instance of the report that is run for all campuses.   The Instance is created with Parameters set to wildcard values, so that the parameters are available to pass values.  I have also tried running the subreport without parameters, but it just displays all records and ignores parameters passed in (unsurprisingly).
    I have had other reports working with linked parameters before, but only to the .rpt report - not to an instance.
    The report works, but again all reports are displayed because when I checked the parameters they are shown as wildcards, as used when creating the instance, NOT the parameters I am trying to pass to the instance.
    If I change the link to go to the Param Instance instead of the last instance (sInstance=Param), then I get an error because the report instance was created with wildcard parameters but the link has campus set, so there is no matching instance as far as Crystal is concerned.
    An approximation of the link used is below:
    http://...opendocument.aspx?sType=rpt&NAII=N&iDocID=1234&sInstance=Last&lsSAcadPeriod=07/08&lsSparamCampus=E
    I cannot simply run an instance of the report for each Campus as there is are additional  layers I have left out of this example for clarity (School, CampusType etc).
    I need a solution that either allows parameters to work with instances of reports, or filter records in instances of reports.
    I hope I have explained this clearly enough - please let me know if not, or if you have any other questions.
    Many thanks in advance for any and all help.
    Geoff Langdon.

    hello arjhay,
    webelements 2.3 will not work seemlessly, unfortunately, with xir3.
    in xir3 the dhtml viewer has changes in it that are more web 2.0.
    things that will not work and are deprecated for webelements & xir3 are the functions in WEViewer. this is due to the toolbar in the new viewer being a widget as opposed to a set of divs. however, opendocument for xir3 will allow one to switch off the toolbar using an opendocument paramter and will also allow one to switch off the new style tab bar.
    the new dhtml viewer also does not encase report fields & functions etc. within a form tag. many webelements controls require a form so the new design for xir3 will be to put a new WEFormStart at the top of each report using webelements. what this does is basically start a form in the viewer and allow the controls to function properly.
    so in summary there are 2 changes for xir3:
    a) each report using webelements must have a WEFormStart function added to the beginning of the report
    b) references to WEViewer must be removed from reports that are used in xir3
    there will be a new 2.4 function suite out in several weeks and this will contain the new WEFormStart as well as other syntax changes to allow reports to work in xir3.

  • Passing parameters in jsp

    Hi friends,
    I am very new to oracle pdk. But unfortunately i was assigned to a small pdk development using jsp.
    How can i send parameters in the Oracle jpdk multipage sample portlet .
    The first.jsp says ,
    <%
    PortletRenderRequest prr = (PortletRenderRequest) request.getAttribute(HttpCommonConstants.PORTLET_RENDER_REQUEST);
    NameValuePair[] linkParams = new NameValuePair[1];
    linkParams[0] = new NameValuePair(HttpPortletRendererUtil.portletParameter(request, "next_page"), "/htdocs/multipage/second.jsp");
    %>
    <center>
    Hello, this is the first page<p>
    <%=UrlUtils.constructHTMLLink(prr, UrlUtils.PAGE_LINK, "second page", "", linkParams, true, true)%>
    </center>
    Now where should i add the parameter which i have to send to the second page named second.jsp.
    In the same way how to receive the parameter values in the second.jsp file, the second.jsp is listed here as below.
    <%
    PortletRenderRequest prr = (PortletRenderRequest) request.getAttribute(HttpCommonConstants.PORTLET_RENDER_REQUEST);
    NameValuePair[] linkParams = new NameValuePair[1];
    linkParams[0] = new NameValuePair(HttpPortletRendererUtil.portletParameter(request, "next_page"), "/htdocs/multipage/first.jsp");
    linkParams[1] ="a=hello";
    %>
    <center>
    Hello, this is the second page<p>
    <%=UrlUtils.constructHTMLLink(prr, UrlUtils.PAGE_LINK,
    "first page", "", linkParams, true, true)%>
    </center>
    Please write to me an example in detail.
    Matter is very urgent.

    I just recently put a set of helper classes on my knowledge exchange site specifically to help with passing parameters via the url.
    http://portalstudio.oracle.com/servlet/page?_pageid=2106&_dad=ops&_schema=OPSTUDIO&_type=site&_fsiteid=233&_fid=433232&_fnavbarid=180376&_fnavbarsiteid=233&_fedit=0&_fmode=2&_fdisplaymode=1&_fcalledfrom=1&_fdisplayurl=
    I called it Portal Tools. It includes usage documentation.
    but, to stick with the code example you provided,
    Technically, you can pass parameters at least three different ways:
    -Using portal's parameter-event processing (portlets interact with portal for parameters)
    -Using qualified parameter names (portlets only see "their" parameters)
    -Using unqualified parameter names (portlets are responsible for unique names, name collisions, etc)
    I would generally shy away from the unqualified parameter method; it was put in to support older versions of portal.
    The example you provided currently uses qualified parameters, so I will answer with that method.
    To add a parameter "a" with a value of "hello",
    change the setup of the link parameters in first.jsp to this:
    NameValuePair[] linkParams = new NameValuePair[2];
    linkParams[0] = new NameValuePair(HttpPortletRendererUtil.portletParameter(request, "next_page"), "/htdocs/multipage/second.jsp");
    linkParams[1] = new NameValuePair(HttpPortletRendererUtil.portletParameter(request, "a"), "hello");
    note that in the definition line, you must allocate space for EXACTLY how many parameters you are using (2 now, rather than 1). Then in the assignment lines, it is using java standard ZERO based indexing, so the new second parameter is at index 1.
    to get (and display) the parameter in the second.jsp page, you would include something such as this:
    Parameter "A" contains a value of <%= prr.getParameter("a") %>.
    note how you just ask the PRR for the parameter with the unqualified name.
    The "next_page" parameter is defined (in the provider.xml) to be used by portal to manage page flow and display. That is why you only have to set the "next_page" parameter.
    I hope this helps.

  • Why linked parameter disappears from report in newer versions?

    We are migrating some applications from Crystal Reports 9 and VB6 to C# and Crystal Reports 13.0. We are using same old .rpt without modifications. Some of them contain sub reports with linked parameters pointing to formula fields, and when we try to print or export the reports they are returning an error like this.
    Error in formula  Record_Selection: '{TRN_FILE.TRN_POST_DT} <= {?Pm-@MonthOf}  ' This field is not known.
    Opening the .rpt file with older version (CR9) and taking a look to Change subreport links presents the ?Pm-@MonthOf parameter but when we use newer version of crystal reports (SAP CR 2013)  to open the same file the linked parameter disappears from sub report links.
    Any idea of why this could be happening? , the only way we have found to make reports work in newer version is adding linked parameters again in design mode, but having a lot of reports with this same problem we want this to be our last option.
    Thanks for your comments.

    Hi Jorge
    You don't mention the database so it is difficult to provide useful info. Couple of things I can suggest:
    Enable the option "Verify on first refresh"
    Download CR 2013 (v. 14.1.x) from here:
    SME Free Trials | SME Software | SAP
    and see if the report will run there.

  • Must command link parameter variable SESSION Scope??

    I add a EJB Session Bean Method to my page which returns an array:
    public Province[] getProvinces();
    When you place the Session Bean to the page, it automatically creates a REQUEST SCOPE VARIABLE called "provinceRemoteGetProvincesResultBean" in the type of Province array. And it automatically creates a Data Table to display the results.
    Up to this point every thing's cool!! I can call the method properly, get the results and display without any problem.
    However when I try to create a COMMAND LINK to one of the columns of the TABLE (e.g. Province has a NAME column) I have a problem:
    <h:commandLink styleClass="commandLink" id="lnkName" action="#{pc_ProvinceManagement.doLnkNameAction}">
    <h:outputText id="otxName" value="#{varprovinceRemoteGetProvincesResultBean.name}" styleClass="outputText">
    </h:outputText>
    <f:param name="provinceId" value="#varprovinceRemoteGetProvincesResultBean.id}"></f:param>
    </h:commandLink>
    The problem is that this "provinceRemoteGetProvincesResultBean" is REQUEST scope and Command Link does not work with REQUEST Scope variables!!!
    I had similar examples before, when I used the command link with a REQUEST SCOPE variable, it didn't work. When I use it with a SESSION Scope variable it works.
    In this particular case, I cannot make the Province[] a SESSION SCOPE variable, because it's not a class!!! Therefore I need to create a new class containing a Province[] and make that class a SESSION SCOPE variable, which makes things quite complicated!!
    IS IT TRUE THAT COMMAND LINK PARAMETERS MUST BE SESSION SCOPE?????

    Line 4: <f:param name="provinceId" value="#varprovinceRemoteGetProvincesResultBean.id}"></f:param>
    value="#varpro... >>> value="#{varpro...

    tested successfully but don't work within Warehouse Builder.
    My environment is simple, both my Oracle 8i and Warehouse
    Builder
    are on the same machine and installed in the same home
    directory.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hi max7539! I recommend that you try setting up a new Wi-Fi connection to your phone on your camera from scratch, then see if the new app does not recognize the camera. After setting this up from scratch, does the Camera Connect app still not see the camera? If this is a time sensitive-matter, additional support options are available at Contact Us.
