when we analyse the performance of a particular report or BDC using SE30 , we will get a graph. How to analyze that graph. what the graph indicates. how the graph should appear for a better performance report.
need the answer more clearly.

There are three componetnts of the garph as follows:
1. ABAP RUN-TIME
   This is the time out of the Total execution time for which the program had taken
   to execute ABAP statements of the program (here we can differentiate Time
   spend on Database Trace(e.g. Select Query statement) and on ABAP Trace
   (e.g.Loop at ...and other)).
2. DATABASE RUN-TIME
    This is time spend by the program out of total execution time on Database
    Trace.
3. SYSTEM RUN-TIME
    This is time taken by system for its internal tasks like assigning work process
    etc.
Tips for Better Performance:
We have to write program such that it will spend very less time on the Database, As it is not advisable to lock some DB tables for long time.
We should utilise whole ABAP trace as it is much faster than DB trace.
e.g. Avoid using Select.........Endselect....
Use For all entries in or use internal tables to improve the performance.

As Dennis points out, it smooths the image. Specifically, computer
graphics on a raster device have stair-steps or jaggies. This occurs
because a sloping line is being approximated by setting pixels in a grid
to either the foreground or background color. For this example, lets
assume the BG is black and FG is white. At 45 deg and certain other
nice angles, the lines look relatively smooth, like the diagonals on a
chess board, but at other angles, they are heavily aliased or jaggy.
Anti-aliasing sets the color of the pixels to black, white, or shades of
gray depending on the amount of the pixel that intersects the
mathematical d
efinition of the line. This extra math slows things down,
and the fact that the anti-aliasing is done not by windows, by by an
OpenGL driver in its own memory buffer slows it down further. For
slowly changing plots, they look quite nice. This doesn't make sense
for dense data or quickly changing data.

What is the ETA on the production release? Can we pay to remove the graph watermarks?

I can't figure out the ETA on the production release.
Meanwhile, because of the graph watermarks in Beta 3, we have had
to stop getting feedback from customers! Anyone from Macromedia
please explain what we are supposed to do?

Currently, there is no way to remove the watermarks, and the
product is not yet available for purchase so it isn't possible to
let you purchase a serial number.
We haven't given out a specific date for the release, but
beta 3 was our last public beta release before shipping. Hopefully,
the imminent release will let you re-engage with customers.

What I ment Was that: No more data are being ploted anymore when clearing the graphs

When I clear the graphs or clicking the stop, the data that shall be plotted afterwards are not visible any more. The graphs stays empthy !

What exactly do you mean? I run the VI you posted and after clicking the clear, data is plotted again.

What exactly is the yellow representative of on the 'capacity' bar when i sync/update my iphone on my laptop with my itunes.

I ask because my iphone is full and yet I have such a small amount of playlists in my music and so very few photos compared to my friends, and even when I delete photos it still tells me I'm over capacity and the yellow section of the bar which is decribed as 'other' is taking up half of my memory and I dont know where to go to find out what the 'other' stuff is!!

Exporting document to Excel "Percent" on the graph,shown as decimal values

When I'm converting a WEBI report(pre 3.0 version) into Excel 2003, I have a problem with displaying data values on the graphs which are formatted as "percent". Nomatter what I do, in excel it will always show the same data values on the graph as decimal representations and not percents as shown in WEBI or in PDF.

I tested the issue with different graphs as below:
created report with City and Sales revenue using sample universe efashion.
Turned report to Vertical Percent line graph.
created customer number format as ###[%]% to display sales revenue values as percent (like 10%,20%...).
Saved the report and opened it in PDF and it is showing same like in the report(in percent).
Opened report in Excel 2003 and it is also showing same like in the report.
Tested issue as will as in Excel 2007, no issues.
If you can provide workflow to reproduce the issue, it will be easy us to give workaround or suggestions.

I cant see the graph in discoverer viewer whith was created in the desktop

I need your help!! I have a problem to see a graph in Discoverer viewer. I will detail you the steps that I follow;
It was a difficult calculate report to results by Discoverer so, I create a view in the data base which show 3 field, Periodo(number) which is a union whit other field from other folder, State(varchar), Requirement(number).
From the discoverer desktop y have a crosstab worksheets and a graph, there I can see it without problem, but in the Discoverer viewer I can see the graph.
I tried to set the worksheets options in “show options” to show me the graphs too, but this options didn’t appeared there. Somebody know what I should have to do to see it?
On the other hand I changed the “show null values show” option since null to empty, and when I wanted to save the change this error appeared;
“Oracle BI Discoverer don’t had to found the necessary values to show the events…”

Hi Dora,
The graphs that you create using Discoverer Plus will show nicely in Viewer. Everything you develop in Pluys works in Viewer. They are companion products.
You must realize that Discoverer Plus/Viewer and Desktop are two seperate product sets and they use different techniques for graph creation. There are other differencies between the two that suggests that you need to develop all reports using Discoverer Plus in stead of Discoverer Desktop.
I have experienced workbook created in Plus being destroyed when opened and saved using Desktop. So for a long time I have simply forgotten all about Desktop. If your company is relying on both Viewer and Dersktop I suggest that the time has come to change strategy and technique.

Dynamic Height in Graphs does not work properly when the graph is in an list

Help please,
I have an report in SQL Server 2008 (SP1) Reporting Services which uses Dynamic Height to dynamically increase the size of the graph for the data. For a single dataset this works great!
When I place this graph in a list/tablix (to display this graph on each group) things go bad... Only the first graph on every page is resized, all other graphs on the same page are equal in size of the first!
When I place a pagebreak on the lists property all graphs are drawn fine!! But then I will have a page for every question in my data (which can be a lot!)
What is going on here? Please help.

thanks for your reply, but this does not work. The graphs are now all the same size (the size of the first one that is), and on the same page for that matter...
It looks like the renderer calculates the value of the dynamic height only once on a page in stead of each graph. That's a bug in my opinion.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
The inner workings of the report are like this: The data contains anwers from a survey by question, so i have a unknown count of answers with each question; I placed a list on my report with a groupingproperty on the question asked. On this list i place a horizontal bar-graph which must grow in height when it is too small. The dynamic height should be calculated like this =70 + (CountDistinct(AnswerValue.Value)*10) & "pt".
When i place this calculation in a textbox, every item in the group is calculated correctly. Each graph is drawn, but the graphs are sized only to the size of the first graph on the page. When I place a pagebreak after each list-repeat (so i get each question on a seperate page) each graph is drawn correctly! This results however in more than 100 pages with all used for just a few centimeters (think about trees!).
I'm using SQL 2008 / SSRS2008 with SP1 by the way ( without SP1, the behaviour is the same).
Any more suggestions are appreciated.

My performance is very slow when I run graphs. How do I increase the speed at which I can do other things while the data is being updated and displayed on the graphs?

I am doing an an aquisition and displaying the data on graphs. When I run the program it is slow. I think because I have the number of scans to read associated with my scan rate. It takes the number of seconds I want to display on the chart times the scan rate and feeds that into the number of samples to read at a time from the AI read. The problem is that it stalls until the data points are aquired and displayed so I cannot click or change values on the front panel until the updates occur on the graph. What can I do to be able to help this?

It may also be your graphics card. LabVIEW can max the CPU and you
screen may not be refreshing very fast.

How come two signals of the same frequency show on the graph as having the same?

My assignment for school is to build a 2 channel oscilloscope, with generators too. Initially, I tried using a waveform chart, that actually showed a very "ugly" image. Just for testing, I left the chart there with hidden indicator.
The student teacher suggested I use a graph, which is ok, as far as the shape of the signal. The "time" axis however doesn't really show the time.
Thinking that it might show the samples, I put at the "nr.of samples" the reciprocal of the sampling rate multiplied with 1000,000 and the result was the same. The really strange part is that if I'd put two different frequencies for each channel it showed as is the signals had the same frequency.
And that's not the only problem... The while loop everything is in doesn't look like it's executing more than once. Now, I know the vi is pretty large but is that what makes it behave like that?
I also put cursors (like in the example from Fundamentals> Graphs and Charts > Programatically Control Cursors) that should be in the middle of the graph. Since I didn't use a chart, are the values at "Style" or "Pointer Style" different? (I wanted the cursors to be multi-plot).
Can you help me with any of that?

Hi Patricia !
First of all, I would suggest you to synchronize all actions according to data flow concept : try to link all property nodes with error wires... That way, you MAY notice some warnings/errors. Then you should try to group functionalities into clusters, that way your code would be easier to debug...
Then your While Loop runs as fast as possible (which makes your processor to run at 100% all time long), you should consider using a timing function to slow down the loop.
Then using "Graphs", the X-axis will display the number of samples in the array to plot. If you know the sampling frequency of your signal and the number of samples in the array, you can try use "Xaxis.Multiplier" property node to convert the number of samples into time.
Then for your cursors, you should consider using "Cursos List" property node... It's not really cool to program it (lot of options) but it works very well and allows you to deeply customize your cursors.
I hope this helps... Otherwise, don't hesitate to post another message !

How to make the graph follows the position of the video frame

I want to open the video (. avi) and graph together in one VI.. The videos and graphs can be controlled (forwarded or rewind) in the desired position.. However, the graph should follow where's the position of the video frame.. The graph generated from the data in excel, after reading data, then there is the processing of signals, such as filter, mean, find the peak, etc.. After that the result will appear in the graph..
Until now, I've been able to display video and graph.. I'm trying to use WMP and also IMAQ..
Because I want to show the position of the graph or signal when the video plays, I was making a cursor or a line on a graph that follows the position of the video..
First, I'm trying using WMP.. I can forward and rewind video using WMP, after that I make a cursor on the graph and the position of cursor I put in the position video.. And then when I run the program, the signal that arises from the right, but the cursor in the graph follow the position of the video (the cursor appears on the left) different side with the signal..
I also tried using IMAQ when I tried to use the video controls, so the video can be forward or rewind using the slide, and I made a graph control to follow the video.. But the video isn't playing, it just show only images or frame in the video..
Can we create a graph that can follow the position of the video? (graph can be in forward and rewind just like with video)
I've tried many ways but until now have not been successful.. can someone help me?

This should do pretty much what you want, assuming that a slider is how you are controlling your video position. You are going to have to play around with it a little but it should give you the basic idea.

How do I write a vi that will save graph data and text data (related to the graph) so the next time I want to view the graph data the text data is included in the read vi?

I am new at writing vi's and hope you may be able to help. I would like to create a vi that will graph measurements taken from a daq device. I would like to include text data that a user can choose from (example: machine number, test circuit, load cell type) that will stay with the graph so when the graph is viewed at a later time the text data (explaining parts of the graph) will display with the graph data. I have included a vi I am using to capture and display a force value. Any help would be greatly appreicated.

What you want is a DATALOG file:
When you save a file, use the BUNDLE function to bundle your machine number, test circuit, whatever (include a few spare fields), plus your graph data. Get the graph data from the source, or use a local variable of the graph itself.
Wire the bundle output to the DATALOG TYPE of a NEW FILE function. (I presume you'll use a FILE DIALOG set to SAVE FILE to choose a file path).
Write the same bundle output to the DATA input of a WRITE FILE function.
Use a CLOSE FILE function to (ahem) close the file.
When you want to read a file, use a FILE DIALOG set to EXISTING FILE (or some other means) to specify what file to read. Wire the same cluster type to the DATALOG TYPE of the FILE DIALOG, so that it will only
offer files of the correct type.
When you have a file path chosen, wire the bundle to the DATALOG TYPE input of a FILE OPEN operation.
Use a FILE READ to read a single cluster - the output of FILE READ will be a cluster of the right type.
Use a CLOSE FILE function to....
Out of the FILE READ function, you can UNBUNDLE BY NAME the data and send to the graph and the other fields, or, if you're clever, you can use a cluster on the screen, and not unbundle it. That's harder though, since you probably want the text fields to be controls (inputs) and the graph to be an indicator (output).

I'm trying to set up a DAQ assist just to measure some voltage, how do i get the graph to start from 0 (time) every time I press run

Hi all,
I am trying to set up a simple DAQ assist to measure some voltages (currently a 9 volt battery to aid set up), when choosing to use a waveform chart to log the voltages the graph doesnt start from 0 (time seconds) how do I do this and get it to reset every time I press run or even stop.
What I want to see at the end is a chart for the full lenght of the test showing voltage against time in seconds.

Look at this VI
Here, I clear the chart before running the VI, using a 'history data' property node ( i pass an empty array to clear it)
In effect, each time you run the VI, the chart will begin at 0:00

How do I set cursor.index to anywhere in the graph array?

I am using LV 8.5.1 and feeding an XY graph with an X-Y array of data. Only a section of the array is displayed on the graph. I have a cursor (single-plot).
I would like to set Cursor.Index property node of the cursor associated with the plot to the maximum index value of the graphed array regardless of the XScale range. I don't seem to be able to do it. I cannot set it beyond a certain number. When I rescale the graph I have a new maximum number. Is this what should happen?
To get around this, I am momentarily setting the XScale.ScaleFit property to 1, which then allows me to set Cursor.Index to maximum (I then immediately reduce my scale range appropriately). I am having to do this before every occurrence of setting the Cursor.Index in case the new setting exceeds the currently allowed maximum value. Just seems a bit clunky.

This is no longer a problem. My data is too big to feasibly be fed into a graph so am having to chop it up and use my own index pointer.
