Include in PL/SQL

Is it possible to include plain text in a procedure. (like include in asp or php)
I want to include text from a procedure but i don't want the compiler to check for variables names or syntax.
I don't want to retreive this text from a table field.
Thank you for reading this message.

I guess the first question is plain text for what? Comments? I assume you can RTFM if you are trying to insert comments so maybe you what you want is dynamic sql. Here is a link to the Oracle 8i version of dynamic sql. Oracle 7 is slightly different.

    DeepSure; call them from your own procedure. For example:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE globaldb_ghd_rep AS
          PROCEDURE  refresh_and_test (refgrp  IN  VARCHAR2);
          PROCEDURE  update_user_details_test;
        END;
    SHOW ERRORS
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY globaldb_ghd_rep AS
          PROCEDURE  refresh_and_test (refgrp  IN  VARCHAR2)
          IS
          BEGIN
              DBMS_Refresh.refresh(refgrp);
                 update_user_details_test;
          END  refresh_and_test;
          PROCEDURE  update_user_details_test
          IS
          END  update_user_details_test;
    END  globaldb_ghd_rep
    SHOW ERRORSWhen used immediately after the CREATE commands, the SQL*Plus command SHOW ERRORS displays more complete error messages.

    Hi,
    Consider the above scenario,I suggest you to use the SQL Server Compact+ ClickOnce Deployment, A Compact SQL database is a file that can be bundled with your application installation. Below is a link guiding you through the creation process of a SQL Compact
    database.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms173009.aspx
    The following link discusses setting up the necessary dependencies and prerequisites for SQL Server Compact. (Note, you will need to scroll to the section entitled Private File–Based Deployment.)
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa983326(v=VS.100).aspx
    A ClickOnce Deployment can help you publish your application attach compact SQL database into client machine.

  • Unable to save a report that includes a datasource of "Microsoft SQL azure" type

    I have install SSRS in azure using the following instructions (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn449661.aspx) and all seems to work fine, however when I create a report in report builder 2014 (in this case empty) that includes a Microsoft SQL Azure
    datasource type I am unable to save the report and get the following error message (even though when I test connection it succeeds).
    "The report definition was saved, but one or more errors occurred while setting the report properties"
    Reports with standard sql datasources work fine.
    I have also tried creating the report using Visual Studio 2013 and get a similar error message.
    I have tried this using SQL 2012 and SQL 2014 and get the same error.
    Does anybody know how I can create a report with Microsoft SQL Azure datasource type?

    Hi jamesla,
    Based on my research, the issue can be caused by a deleted shared data source still exist under the Data Sources list in Report Builder. For more details about this scenario, we can refer to the following thread:
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/7170dbee-048c-4298-89ba-df4d42924c8e/the-report-definition-was-saved-but-one-or-more-errors-occurred-while-setting-report-properties?forum=sqlreportingservices
    Since the error message without detail information, we can try to render the report to see the detail error message. Besides, we can try to check it in the log file. The SQL Reporting Services log files are found on the reporting services point server, in
    the folder %programfiles%\Microsoft SQL Server\<SQL Server Instance>\Reporting Services\LogFiles.

  • NoClassDefFoundError: com/sap/sql/log/OpenSQLException

    I have developed a Java project. It consists of 2 SQLJ files and then a Java class. When I try to execute the Java program, I get a Java error:
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/sap/sql/log/OpenSQLException
         at com.mbb.crrs.business.report.dao.ReportDAO.<init>(ReportDAO.sqlj:23)
         at com.mbb.crrs.business.report.dao.Test.main(Test.java:24)
    Exception in thread "main"
    I notice a similar problem on message: Re: Which jar to include com.sap.sql.log.OpenSQLException
    Is that something that I need to maintain for it to work? Thank you.

    Hi,
    the problem one year ago was that the SQLException class was not available through remote access. I don't know if that might have been changed meanwhile in the latest release.
    I implemented a simple work around: I caught every SQL-exception in the method where it was thrown, wrapped the exception message and any nested exception in a self written exception and threw this new exception. That worked fine.

  • How to update or populate table in SQL server from PL/SQL

    Hello - I am starting in the fascinating world of PL/SQL. One of the first task I've been assigned is to rewrite a code (basically I was thinking of creating a package with proc included) on PL/SQL that updates and/or populates tables in MS SQL Server. How should I do this? Is it doable? I guess it is. How can I call tables from others databases from PL/SQL? How to establish the conecction? where? It should be included in the package?
    Any help will be appreciated

  • SQL Management Pack Agent Job Unit Monitors

    I am trying to utilize the SQL Agent Job Monitors included with the SQL Management Pack (page 81 of the MP guide), particularly the "Last Run Status" monitor. I have set an Override for "Generate Alerts" to True. The goal
    is to have an email notification sent when any SQL Agent job fails on a specific group of computers. However, I am not familiar enough with what "Last Run Status" is actually monitoring and if it will do what I am looking for. Does this monitor
    check the job status of any agent job on the target group? I tried setting up a job for it to fail, which it does fail, but it does not generate an alert. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

    1) For monitoring SQL server job status, you can refer to the following blog
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/kevinholman/archive/2011/08/05/how-to-monitor-sql-agent-jobs-using-the-sql-management-pack-and-opsmgr.aspx
    2) For troubleshoot: Make sure that your SQL agent job is discovered, you may find the discovered job under Microsoft SQL Server --> SQL Agent --> SQL agent job status. By default, the discovery is disabled and you should enabled the discovery by using
    override.
    Roger
    Thanks. So I enabled Agent Job discovery for the systems that I want. It discovered those objects. Now, I still cannot get the alerting to work. I can see the Health State of the job change to a Warning, indicating "Last Run Status" equals Failed, but
    it is not generating an alert. I set Overrides (Generates Alert = True) on a Group that included one of the job objects, nothing. I also set the same Override directly on the job object and I still do not receive an alert. Any ideas? I
    noticed someone in the comments mentioned in the blog you linked, a similar issue, except with the Job Duration monitor. However, he was able to get alerts to generate by setting the Override directly on the Job object and noted that it is not a
    feasible solution due to the number of jobs he wants to monitor. Again, I tried the same, but still could not get alerts. That solution would not be acceptable for me either because of the number of jobs that I would have to set individual Overrides for.

  • Error Installing SQL Server 2012 Express LocalDB on Windows 8.1 64-bit

    TriSys Business Software

    Hello,
    Did you install .NET Framework 4.0 or enable .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 on Windows 8.1 which is requirement for SQL Server 2012?
    SQL Server installs .NET 4.0 during the feature installation step. But if you are installing the SQL Server Express editions, ensure that an Internet connection is available on the computer. SQL Server Setup downloads and installs the .NET Framework 4
    because it is not included in the SQL Server Express media.
    In you case, please try to download and install
    .NET Framework 4.0 or
    .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and then run the SQL Server setup.exe again.

  • Install "use typical installation options for a stand-alone primary site" All SQL Prerequisites Failed. Checks SQL before SQL is even installed?

    So I select the install option to "Use typical installation options for a stand-alone primary site" which says it includes installation of SQL 2012 SP1 on the local server.
    But then during the prerequisite checks it fails every SQL check.
    Is it just me or a giant catch 22? Am I missing something here? How is this over looked if it is what it looks like? Why even have this simple install option if it can't work?

    Take a look at my R2 install guide. This is for a stand alone primary. As Torsten states you pretty much need SQL installed and configured correctly prior to running the ConfigMgr install - along with  a few other pre-reqs.

  • Content in PL/SQL block

    I am new to PL/SQL. I understand that I can run PL/SQL from sqlplus. But it does not work for me if I put sqlplus command in PL/SQL blocks. For example:
    BEGIN
    IF &1 IS NULL THEN CONNECT username/userpassword
    ELSE CONNECT username/userpassword@&1
    ENDIF;
    END;
    I wonder:
    1) What can be included in PL/SQL block? Can a sqlplus command (like CONNECT) be included in PL/SQL block?
    2) In sqlplus, how to check if the sql script has an command line input parameter,
    like "myscript.sql <input_parameter>"?
    Thank you.

    Just to add a few comments.
    PL/SQL is a formal procedural language. The CONNECT command is not part of this language. So just as PL/SQL cannot understand C/C++ commands, nor can it understand SQL*Plus macro commands.
    The & char is used in SQL*Plus as a substitution variable. SQL*Plus checks the PL/SQL or SQL code block before it sends it to Oracle. SQL*Plus substitutes all & variables first - and changes this code block. Then this changed code block is submitted by SQL*Plus to Oracle for execution.
    You need to grok the basics of client-server here and how the client (SQL*Plus in this case), interacts with the server (Oracle and is PL/SQL engine in this case).
    SQL*Plus does not have a "programming" language - it has a very simplistic macro language. It does not support conditional execution. It does not support loop structures. It is very primitive. And must not be confused with PL/SQL and cannot be mixed with PL/SQL (server-side) code.

  • Help with SQL Date

    Hi
    How can I convert a string in 'YYYYMMDD' format to SQL date (in the format 'YYYYMMDD' and also 'YYYYMMDD HH24:MI:SS) to use in my SQL-query (for Oracle Database)
    Thanks for your help
    Praveen Padala

    Hi
    How can I convert a string in 'YYYYMMDD' format to
    SQL date (in the format 'YYYYMMDD' and also 'YYYYMMDD
    HH24:MI:SS) to use in my SQL-query (for Oracle
    Database)
    Thanks for your help
    Praveen PadalaI've done quite a few dates from Java to an Oracle DB. I like to use the SimpleDateFormat class in the java.text packadge.
    import java.text.*; //Use this import
    //In your class
    SimpleDateFormat myDateFormatter = new SimpleDateFormat("dd-MMM-yyyy", new Locale("en","US"));
    //The .format method returns a string. With this format string it can be included in an SQL command
    myDateFormatter.format(myDate);
    You can also use a SimpleDateFormat object with the format of your other dates to get a Date object that can be given to the SimpleDateFormat object set up to format in Oracle compatable form.
    myDate is an object of type Date.
    Hope this helps!
    Kevin.

  • To convert the "IBM DB2 Store Procs written in C" to Oracle PL-SQL

    Hi, Is it possible to convert the "IBM DB2 Store Procs written in C" to Oracle PL-SQL. If you have any info, PL do let me know. Thanks in advance.
    EG :
    /* SMG Stored Procedures */
