Include native library with webservice deployement

Hi,
I wrote a webservice which i'm deploying to tomcat server. the methods of this webservice require a native library (.so) to work correctly.
I'm not sure where can i put this .so library so my deployed java webservice will find it when running in tomcat server?
also In netbeans IDE version 6.7 the IDE doesn't find any native library and i can't figure out how to tell netbeans where to find these native libraries.
any help where i should put the .so file within my webservice deployment ?
thanks.

you cannot deploy a native library just like that; when starting up Java has to be able to find this library, meaning it has to be in a known location. Basically the so will have to be in one of the following:
- on the system path
- in the same directory where java is invoked (you cannot be sure of this directory when the server is the one starting java, so forget about this one)
- passed as a command line parameter to the JVM, which will be done in the server startup script (-Djava.library.path=FOLDER_WITH_NATIVE_LIBRARIES)
I would say that needing a native library in a web project is a bad idea (tm).yes i'm too annoyed by the fact a webservice needs a OS library .not logical approach as webservices tends not to rely on underlying OS.
but that's what i was asked to do ! i have no choice.
your answer scares me . does this means in general webservices don't use OS native libraries?
will it be good Idea to move native lib logic to webservice client?
if i write a webservice servlet client ,where should i put the native library in this case (webservice servlet client deployed in tomcat server)?

  • Error in Java Runtime Environment when running JNI native library

    Hi,
    I am kinda new to JNI but understand it [and done some tutorials]. I am trying to implement JavaStyle [ a Java vst host that uses JNI ] and have reached a point where i successfully build the native code to a dll, and almost manage to load the native dll library. I do not get a Unsatisfied Link Error, but instead have the JVM close due an internal error.
    I am completely lost and dont know what to try now, and I would appreciate any help offered.
    I have debugged and the error arrives at the System.load line of code:
      static {
        System.out.print("Pre loadLibrary...");
        System.loadLibrary("JaVaSTyle");
        System.out.println("JavaStyle dll loaded in JVSTLibrary");
      }Detail: I compiled the native library with MS visual studio .NET 2003 using the project settings supplied from the CVS repository.
    I use Netbeans 6.0 for the java side of things. The console output is:

    Something is wrong with the library.
    Staring at java code will not help you figure that out.
    Maybe it isn't intended to be loaded in java but instead it loads java itself?
    If not then write a C/C++ basic app that links that dll in and see if you can at least get it to start.

  • Java code to invoke a native library in a Resource Adapter

    Have any of you done the project on invoking a native library in a Resource Adapter that you could share some experience/tips? Thanks

    Hi Frances,
    I haven't yet done anything in this area, but I should be rather staright forward in following the related manuals:
    Configuring the Use of Resource Adapter Native Libraries
    http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/web.1013/b28956/adminra.htm#CACJAJHC
    The oc4j-connectors.xml File <security-permission> Element
    http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/web.1013/b28957/jcacontinued.htm#CHDHFEDA
    BTW: as far as I can see (haven't read the whole manual) the most important point isn't addressed in this manual: to make the native code available in your Java code, you have to load the native library with a code line like:
    System.loadLibrary("....");
    or
    Runtime.getRuntime().loadLibrary("...");
    This code line is a very critical one, because you can call it only ONCE for a native library during the runtime of a JVM.
    From the Runtime.loadLibrary JavaDoc:
    If this method is called more than once with the same library name, the second and subsequent calls are ignored.
    This statement is also true for calls in different ClassLoaders!
    Best,
    Manfred

    java -Djava.library.path=./ -cp ./jar/JarTest.jar test.Native
    With the same result.
    Any help would be realy appreciated.

    One way would be to create a helper class that:
    1- Verifies that the native library is already located in a specific folder (could be the one specified by the user.home system property).
    If so then go to step -3-.
    2- Extracts the native library from the jar (with the Class.getResourceAsStream() method for instance) to the specific folder.
    3- Loads the native library with the System.load() method which requires a complete path name.
    Regards

  • Problem with loading native library in java version "1.5.0_05"

    My application uses a native coded drawing. With java version 1.4.xx it was working just fine but with java 1.5.xx it gives the following error at the time of loading native library:
    java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /home/abyzov/tmp/friend32-1.6.02/libfriend.so:
    /home/abyzov/tmp/friend32-1.6.02/libfriend.so: undefined symbol: XtWindowToWidget
    I assumed that java loads all necessary X-libraries at start up but it seems to be not true for version 1.5.xx. Does anybody now about this kind of problems? Should I report it as a bug?

    I have this exact same problem. I developed an application all along using 1.4.2_08 to be exact no problems. I was forced to switch to 1.5.0_06, now when I try to run the app I get:
    java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: <path to library>/libcomlib.so: <path to library>/libcomlib.so: undefined symbol: yp_get_default_domain
    I have tried compiling it in both 1.4.2_8 and 1.5.0_06 and it compiles perfectly but when I run with 1.5.0_06 it messes up.
    If you found the problem with this or anyone else has any advice please let me know.

  • Is there a way to use a namespace, such as "Library", and have a program with a different namespace include the Library namespace?

    For many years, I have maintained a library of often used functions for C++.  This has become more challenging with the required namespace for C#.
    Is there a way to use a namespace, such as "Library", and have a program with a different namespace include the Library namespace?
    bhs67

    You could create a class X in a namspace Y in a C# class library project. You can then add a reference to this class library project/assembly from every application in which you intend to use the class X in namespace Y.
    You don't add references to namespace, you add references to assemblies in .NET. You can then use a class in namespace Y of any referenced assembly by adding a using directive at the top of the code file in which you reference the class:
    using Y;

    A similar problem was reported before on this Forum - see
    Re: not able create connection to timesten
    checking the Release Notes I can see 11.2.1.8.0 has been tested against Glassfish 3 but I
    can't see any mention about Glassfish 2 in the v7 or v11 Release Notes (albeit only on a quick
    search).
    In my full install on XP, ttJdbcCS1121.dll is in C:\TimesTen\tt1121_32\bin

  • Problems with loading native library/missing methods:no ttJdbcCS in java.li

    Iam facing one problem while connecting the timesten client to the server The SQL Exception which Iam getting is pasted below:-
    Problems with loading native library/missing methods: no ttJdbcCS in java.library.path
    I am working with MAC OS X 10.7.2 and my timesten client version is 11.2.1.0
    I have also changed the Java Preferences from 64-bit to 32-bit but still whenever i tried to connect with the SQL Developer it gives me the above error.

    I just tried this out. My environment is OS X 10.7.4, Timesten (32-bit) client 11.2.1.9.0, SQL Developer 3.1.07, Oracle Java 1.7.0_04.
    The key things you need to be sure to do (in a terminal window) are:
    1. Be sure to . in the TimesTen environment script <tt_install_dir>/bin/ttenv.sh to set the full TT environment.
    2. Change directory to SQLDeveloper.app/Contents/Resources/sqldeveloper
    3. Run 'sh sqldeveloper.sh -J-d32'
    and all should be fine.
    Note that if you are using Java7 as I am then there is a step 1a. Change the CLASSPATH environment variable to specify ttjdbc6.jar not ttjdbc5.jar. For some reason running the app directly from Finder does not work even if you add -J-d32 into the sqldeveloper launch script. I'm still looking into that.

  • Problems with loading native library missing methods ttJdbc1122.dll

    Problems with loading native library/missing methods: C:\TimesTen\tt1122_64\bin\ttJdbc1122.dll: Can't load AMD 64-bit .dll on a IA 32-bit platform
    Hi,
    I have installed TimesTen 11.2.2 64-bit version on 64-bit windows 7.
    I have TimesTen 7 64-bit as well installed on my machice
    When trying to connect to TimesTen (Direct connection) using jdbc from eclipse, I get the following error "Problems with loading native library/missing methods: C:\TimesTen\tt1122_64\bin\ttJdbc1122.dll: Can't load AMD 64-bit .dll on a IA 32-bit platform".
    The JDK version is 1.6.25 - 64 bit version.
    Please help me resolving this error.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Balamurugan

    Are you using SQL Developer?
    There is or used to be a restriction of only being able to using 32 bit. A suggestion might be to try the 32 bit client.

  • Error ocurred during initialization of VM. Unable to load native library...

    Hi,
    I´m trying to install Oracle 9i on a PC with Suse 9.2.
    when I put the first CD it comes with this error:
    Initializing Java Virtual Machine from /tmp/OraInstall2006-05-04_11-13-11PM/jre/bin/java. Please wait...
    Error occurred during initialization of VM

    I´ve seen that there was a similar issue in 2004 and I´ve trying to do what it says but it didn´t work this time.
    Unable to load native library:
    Could everyone help me to install Oracle??? I´ve been trying it for a few days and doesn´t work.
    Regards,

    I had same problems long time ago. Ok, I try to remember.
    First I read the recommandation. You need a special GLIBC-Library to support the JAVA 1.1.8 runtime environment.
    Some of the Oracle9i tools are compiled with gcc 2.95 compiler.
    You may need ”gcc_old for SLES9” for linking of those tools.
    gcc_old-2.95.3-175.2.i586.rpm is included in SLES 9 SP2 CD1
    For Suse you can obtain a package called orarun. You will get further support for installing, starting and stopping ORACLE. Please look at http://ftp.novell.com/partners/oracle/docs/9205_sles9_install.pdf.
    Good luck.

  • How to run 64-bit native code with Java Web Start

    This question has probably been asked many times, but I couldn't find anything in my searches.
    How can I get Java Web Start on a Solaris client (Solaris 10 in this case, with JRE 1.5) to run a java application that includes a 64-bit native code library? The application downloads fine, including the jar file that has the native shared object, but when the native library is loaded by the java application, I get a "wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64" error.
    I assume that is because Web Start is invoking the 32-bit java VM, which can't load a 64-bit library. I tried configuring Java Web Start to use the 64-bit VM (by setting the path to java to ".../jre/bin/sparcv9/java" in the javaws console) but then I get an error that says "Can't load library: .../jre/lib/sparcv9/libdeploy.so".
    Does Java Web Start support 64-bit native code, and if so, what do I need to do differently?
    Thanks.

    No it can't. On the Sun download page of the JRE it says that 64 Bit systems need to use the 32 Bit JRE to execute Plugins - this might be the same for Web Start apps.

  • Seeking library with industrial HMI drawings

    Hello,
    I am Developing a nice HMI that communicates with PLC;s an d DCS's automation and control systems using visual studio 2008 and NModbus.dll lilbrary. The only thing I am still missing are the libraries for the HMI drawings,
    What I am looking for is for the typical HMI drawings like industrial tanks showing the level of the liquid contained ther, the drawing of a motor in motion or the typical bar indicating temperature or singnaling the value of a pressure signal.
    I know there are some free open source libraries that can be used by visual studio 2008 so I would higly appreciate if somebody suggest me a good open source library with HMI drawings.
    Thanks a lot

  • How to use the d3.js library with Apex Charting

    Hello.
    I am using Apex 4.1.0 with Oracle 11gR2 and Oracle App Server (mod_plsql).
    I'm trying to incorporate the d3.js library (a visulaization framework) in my Apex charts but am not having much success.
    I found this article in which David Mann uses the library within an Apex 4.x application:
    http://ba6.us/d3js_application_express_basic_dynamic_action
    I replicated his exact steps in my own application but without success. I do not see how he was able to get his application to work. Indeed, the tutorial does not even use a dynamic action despite what the article title says.
    Has any one used the d3.js library with their Apex application. If so, would you be willing to share how you went about it?
    Thank you very much.
    Elie

    Hello fac586.
    Thank you very much for responding/helping.
    In the article I referenced I did note David's statement about using a "modern" browser with d3.js (one that recognizes css3 syntax); otherwise, the framework will not respond. And so, I was careful to run my Apex application in IE9.x as well in Firefox 16.x. But all I see is an empty region with a title. No chart. Nothing.
    I suspect my one of my problems here is in getting the chart to refresh every "n" seconds. For this, I think the dynamic action would be used, though I'm not sure how to go about doing so.That's included in the sample code (line 99). Strangely Dynamic Actions don't seem to include a native timer event...however there is a plug-in.
    More problematic, though, is that I am not seeing any chart whatsoever in the region. I would have expected to see some chart data, even if it is not automagically refreshing.
    I've created my example in my EEG workspace on apex.oracle.com:
    Workspace: EEG
    Username: [email protected]
    Password: galaxy (note: all lowercase)
    Please see application 27083 called Elie_Goodies, page 25. This page has an associated tab called, appropriately enough, "d3.js Library". The Safari console showed a couple of JavaScript errors.
    1. The URL used to include the d3 code in the blog article:
    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://mbostock.github.com/d3/d3.js"></script>is returning HTML, not JavaScript. Changing it to that given on the d3js.org site:
    <script src="http://d3js.org/d3.v2.js"></script>includes the correct script.
    2. There was a syntax error in a script in the Run Code region. I think there was some kind of issue arising from copying from the blog article: it looked like line endings hadn't been respected as the code wasn't formatted properly. Pasting it from the blog into Coda's editor and then into the APEX Region Source text area fixed the format, and it then ran first time.
    Thanks for the heads-up. I'll also be looking further into d3.

  • [XMLType]Native Library already loaded

    Hi !
    I work with oracle DB 9.2.0.3 and J2ee server.
    I connect to the db with JDBC driver (oci8 client)
    When I use the method CreateXML method (XDB.jar package) I have this error :
    java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: Native Library D:\oracle\ora92\bin\orageneric9.dll already loaded in another classloader
    I have to shutdown and reopen my J2ee server ...
    Any Idea ?

    If you use the session of the myserver1, then store some value in session to identify that the library is loaded.
    As a first step in myserver2, Check in session whether the value is set.
    If you cannot propagate session information across myserver1 and myserver2, then
    myserver1:
    static
    loadLibrary("YourDLL")
    "Include this here..........."
    This code will be there in some class
    "Include this here..........."
    Just write in ser file that DLL is loaded.
    myserver2:
    static
    checkWhetherAlreadyLoaded();
    loadLibrary("YourDLL");
    Or have the loading of library alone in a class in a static method.
    public class LoadClass
    public static loadLibrary()
    System.loadLibrary("YourDLL");
    In myserver1, just call this.
    In myserver2, before calling this method,
    just call any native method - a test method will do
    public boolean checkLoadedStatus()
    try
    // Call the testing nativemethod.
    catch(UnsatisfiedLinkerError e)
    try
    LoadClass.loadLibrary();
    return true;
    catch(Exception e)
    return false;
    }
