Which it will store at "C:\software\apache-tomcat\temp\test.js" on the server
That won't help the client.
You need to have the js file generated somewhere the web client can get at it, or make it a dynamic request (kinda like a servlet) to stream it direct to the client without saving it to disk first.
how often does this "test.js" file change? Is it for every user? Once for an application?

  • Unable to deploy a war file: could path length in a war file be an issue on WIN2K?

    Hi all,
    I am unable to auto deploy a web app as a war file but has no problem to auto deploy it as an exploded directory that I drop under the
    $PortalHome/config/mydomain/applications directory of the WebLogic Server installation.
    Portal Server runs under W2K.
    I noticed that the generated war file located under $PortalHome/config/mydomain/applications.wlnotdelete contains files which path is 10 level deep and may be over

    Could this be a problem?

    What is the complete command line to deploy the war to a managed server, not Admin Server ?
    Our thinking is to deploy an exploded war directory but copy the descriptor files first.
    What do you think ?

  • Anybody got version-DL working with war files

    Since deploying a war overwrites the previous version, I guess you need to include the old and updated jars inside the war. Anyway, I still get errors trying to do the jardiff (Could not locate requested version).
    If someone could post a version.xml, .jnlp file and the output of a war file when a version update is to be downloaded, that would be great. I haven't tried it, but I suspect that will work. I'm using Tomcat 5.0.
    Thanks,

    I got this working. The problem was the webpad demo was coded for pre-1.5.0 jnlpdownload servlet (I guess that is why it is called beta...). I changed the code to use the 1.5 jnlpdownloadservlet and used that jnlp-servlet.jar and it worked. The errors are mysterious because you get Jardiff failed without any explanation. If you mess up the versioning (which I did to at one point) at least the servlet throws a big stacktrace and an error code/message.
    If anyone has this problem and needs a prototype, I can be reached at [email protected]

  • Unable to deploy a simple servlet using WAR file on Oracle9iAS v9.0.3

    Hi All,
    I am facing problem while deploying a simple servlet using WAR file on Oracle 9i App Server.
    I have installed Oracle9iAS J2EE and Web Cache v9.0.3 on Windows 2000 server.
    It includes:
         - Oracle HTTP Server
         - Oracle9iAS Containers for J2EE
         - Oracle9iAS Web Cache
         - Oracle Enterprise Manager
    The release of installed Oracle9iAS is Release 2 (9.0.3)
    I referred following link to Deploy Applications Using WAR file:
         http://otn.oracle.com/products/ias/daily/sept12.html
    As mentioned in this documentation I have followed following steps to deploy WAR file:
    1] I have created a war file by name SimpleServlet.war. In SimpleServlet.war, there is a servlet by name Simple which prints time at which servlet was accessed.
    2] I have modified <ora9ias_home>\j2ee\home\config\application.xml and added following web module entry:
         <web-module id="SimpleServlet" path="../../home/applications/SimpleServlet.war" />
    3] To make this module accessible from over the web, I have modified file
         <ora9ias_home>\j2ee\home\config\default-web-site.xml and added following entry:
         <web-app application="SimpleServlet" name="SimpleServlet" root="/SimpleServlet"/>
    4] I saved both the files and started Oracle HTTP Server and accessed page as below:
              http://<server>:7777/SimpleServlet/Simple
    where Simple is servlet in SimpleServlet.war file.
    In the browser, The page cannot be found is shown to user. I have verified that SimpleServlet.war is extracted to SimpleServlet folder under <ora9ias_home>\j2ee\home\applications folder. I found that Simple.class is stored under WEB-INF/classes folder and web.xml contains correct entry for url pattern for servlet Simple.
    What else could be the problem? Am I placing the war file in wrong place or modifying application.xml or default-web-site.xml in a wrong directory?
    This is very urgent. Please help me with your valuable comments on this.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Deploying war files on iplanet web server 6.0

    Hello All,
    I tried to deploy an war file on iplanet web server 6.0 using both command line wdeploy and iplanet webserver browser based admin tool. Both the times it did say successfully deployed. I checked the WEB-INF files and it does contain all class files..But the problem is when I try to post a form to one of the class files the error log says as if it cannot find the class file.(I tried the sample app HelloWorld supplied by vendor)

    any help in this regards is appreciated

    Hello,
    I got few steps to deploy the WAR file, if you followed the same steps and got the error then ignore this else try with this steps.
    a) Set your environment variable IWS_SERVER_HOME to your server_root directory.
    b) Add the server_root/bin/https/httpsadmin/bin directory to your classpath.
    c) Configure your virtual server for web applications.
    From the Server Manager page, select the VirtualServerClass tab, select a Class, and click the Manage button.
    Select a Virtual Server and go to the Java Web Apps Settings page for that virtual server. Make sure that the virtual server has Web Apps State turned On, and web-apps.xml is the name of Web Apps File.
    To extract the sample WAR file HelloWorld.war in server_root/plugins/servlets/examples/web-apps/HelloWorld, use the wdeploy command as follows:
    wdeploy deploy -u /hello -i server.iplanet.com -v testvs -d
    /iws60/https-server.mydomain.com/testvs/web-apps/hello
    /iws60/plugins/servlets/examples/web-apps/HelloWorld/HelloWorld.war
    The syntax for the command is as follows:
    wdeploy deploy -u uri_path -i instance -v vs_id [-d directory] war_file
    uri_path Specify the URI prefix (a path to access the web application from the browser).
    instance Specify the server instance name. (Note: Do not include "https" in the front.)
    vs_id Specify the Virtual Server name as it appears on the Manage Virtual Servers page.
    directory Specify a directory to extract WAR files. If this directory doesn't exist already, it will be created for you now.
    war_file Specify the name of the WAR file.
    If the WAR file is extracted successfully, the message "web application deploy successful" appears at the command line.
    For verification, go to the /iws60/https-server.iplanet.com/testvs/web-apps/hello directory. It should have the following contents:
    colors
    index.jsp
    META-INF
    WEB-INF/
    web.xml
    /classes/
    HelloWorldServlet.class
    HelloWorldServlet.java
    SnoopServlet.class
    SnoopServlet.java
    In the server_instance/config directory, the web-apps.xml file should have the following entry:
    <vs>
    <web-app uri="/hello"
    dir="/iws60/https-server.iplanet.com/testvs/web-apps/hello"/>
    </vs>
    Restart the server instance from the command line or go to the admin GUI and apply configuration changes to the server instance.
    Now when you access the webserver instance in your browser, the Error log of that server instance will record successful initialization of the web application environment(web-apps.xml) for the virtual server(vs name). You can access the web application from a browser as follows:
    http://server.Mydomain.com:80/hello/index.jsp
    or:
    http://server.Mydomain.com/hello/
    The syntax is as follows:
    http://vs_urlhost[:vs_port]/uri_path/[index_page]
    Thanks

  • How to update a war file safely

    Hi,
    I have a war file that has some files in it. I would like to update the war file to replace an existing web.xml file and add a new file in a different directory.
    I know that i can simply unzip the file and make the changes then zip it back again.
    I would like to do this using Ant but i was wondering if it is possible to do the update with only the updated files. I think the way ANT would work is it would check every file on the new directory and replace it if it is newer. The problem i have is i dont have copies of the existing files in the war file. I only have the files i want to replace in the war file. If i try it, will i end up with a new war file with just the new files and everything else deleted or will it just update the new file?

    Hi,
    Thank you for your response.
    A zip file is not really what i was querying about. I am working with a war file (Which is deployable on the application server) which is what i was asking about and probably why i didnt look at the zip task when i looked at the manual.
    I am using the war task to create the war file. When i looked at the manual (and googled it) i did find that i could use the update=true property on the war task to update the war file. Maybe i should have rephrased my question in another way. What i wanted to ask was if i use the update=true property will it:
    1. Update the war file with the new files and leave everything thing else unchanged.
    2. Replace the war file with a new one with just the new files.
    3. What happens if the new file i want to include has an older timestamp?
    As i mentioned earlier, i also know that i can rename the war file with .zip extension, unzip the war file using winzip, make the necessary changes and zip it back and rename it to a .war file. I dont really want to do this as it doesnt feel like its the right way to do it.
    Apologies if my initial post was not clear enough.

  • Deploying a war file in weblogic7.0.1

    Iam using lomboz as a plugin for web development . when i deploy from eclipse it creates a war file and drops it in to the weblogic application directory .but weblogic takes a lot of time to deploy , it keeps showing the following message
    <Dec 13, 2004 2:45:38 PM IST> <Notice> <Application Poller> <149404> <Activate application _appsdrver - Running>
    Is there any way we can reduce the deployment time .
    Most of the time it shows OutOfMemory and that is it . i need to restart the server . Can any one help me to correct this in weblogic 7.0.1 server

    Babu,
    There are a lot of dependencies involved. app severes before 10g are not generic j2ee server. what kind of files are you putting in ur war file?

  • Xml into war file

    How I can read an xml file with SAX or DOM into a war file?. I have WLS 6.1 SP4
    with WLI2.1 SP2.
    I can read a xml file, but when I create a war file, the aplication does not find
    the xml file. When it tries to find it, it looks on the path but not on the war
    which contains the xml file needed.
    This is the instruction given:
    String uri = "Menu.xml";
    DocumentBuilderFactory factory =DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
    DocumentBuilder builder = factory.newDocumentBuilder();
    Document doc = builder.parse( uri );
    And the error message displayed is:
    File "file:///c:/bea/wli21/Memu.xml" not found
    Coments please!!
    Edy

    The error is calss org.xml.sa.SAXParseException: File "localhost:7001/Menu.xml"
    not found
    I change localhost by the correct IP.
    Tks.

    What error message are you getting now?
    Can you produce the trace?
    Try using File or InputStream while Parsing.
    That will help you to narrow down the error.

  • How to Redeploy application in OC4J using war file

    Hi
    Am new in area of 9ias and OC4J.
    I have deployed and application in OC4J of 9ias 902. using enterprise manager web interface.
    now i have change the contents of current jsp and added more jsp files.
    do i have to recreate war file and redeploy it in oc4j? or just copy the new version of current jsp and copy new jsp in application forlder.
    in case of redeploying , exterprise manager web interface asks for .ear file.
    can anyone give some hint to me... it will great help
    thanks
    samir

    Yes you have to rebuild the WAR file. You can deploy WAR from EMWebsite by using the deploy WAR link. If you are in development and your WAR/EAR file is constantly changing you can use standalone OC4J.
