Including a rms file into a *.jar file

Hi,
I would like to know if it's possible to include a rms (RecordStore) into a jar file off a Midlet suite. I don't want to create the RecordStore everytime i need to install my application. I tryed to copy rms.db to the instalation dir and it worked but i have tools that allow me to do that. My possible clients don't, and i wish to include the rms in the instalation to jar in order to be transparent to them. Adding file to *.jar doesn't work, because the file remains inside the *.jar and isn't installed in the application dir.
I appreciate some help
Thank u and by the way
MERRY CHRISTMAS

Hi
I'm not aware of any technique for directly loading an RMS via the JAR.
Instead, have you considered using a resource file and initializing the RMS from that? Or initializing from a network connection? You could also use the optional properties in the JAD for key=value pairs.
We have used all 3 techniques - including using the resource file as a default dataset and then relegating the RMS to holding any dataset updates.

    When you use an executable jar the normal class path
    is ignored, but you can put a classpath inside the
    jar. The usual trick is to place the library jar
    files in a directory inside the application directory
    and direct the manifest file to it. The manifest file
    live in the jar inside the META-INF directory and
    it's called manifest.mf
    The two heavilly used entries are Main-class: and
    Class-path: lines. Class-path just has a
    comma-separated list of library paths.
    The jar utility has a special option to load it up.Thanks :) I created a "/lib" directory, placed in the packages in there and redirected the Class-Path: lib/commons-net-1.4.1.jar
    and it works,
    thank you everyone :)

    Main-Class: AppletMain (where AppletMain is my mainclass).. I placed this txt file also in c:\ java\ bin\ jarexample
    i m also set Class-path in manifest file Class-Path: mysql-connector-java-3.1.10-bin.jar
    next i ran jar cmf mainClass.txt example.jar *.class mysql-connector-java-3.1.10-bin
    With this line, I told jar to create a JAR file (option c) with modifications to the manifest file (option m) as specified within mainClass.txt, naming the JAR file (option f) as example.jar and including everything that matches the pattern *Class and mysql connector

    Even this is also not possible because, the code in that package is developed by DWR and i am just adding it to my lib folder and importing the respective classes. In the same manner i need to include the *.js* file in the JSP.It took me about 3 minutes reading through the [DWR Getting Started|http://getahead.org/dwr/getstarted] page to learn that you don't have to do any of that. Perhaps you should read that page?

  • Include directive to include a JSP file from a JAR file

    I have an Eclipse project in which I have placed a JSP file in the package structure with the rest of my code. This is in fact only a code snippet page, not a full blown JSP file.
    I have a second project that is a Dynamic Web Project in Eclipse that incorporates the first project as a JAR in the /WEB-INF/lib directory.
    In this project I have a JSP file and I want to include the JSP file embedded in that JAR file.
    How do I do that?
    I'm thinking the only real solution is to rewrite the snippet portion as a custom tag.

    The JSP fragment page in question is actually a HTML form page. It is a form to be used specifically by a particular servlet. That is why they are "bundled" together in the same project, in the same package structure.
    I have multiple web applications that I want to include that form/servlet, so it gets added to these projects in the /WEB-INF/lib folder as a JAR library. But I don't want to recreate the form over and over again for each application. It would be nice if I could write a JSP page that wraps the fragment using an include directive to bring that fragment into the new page.
    So to do that with any other fragment I would write:
    <%@ include file="/WEB-INF/jsp/SOME_FORM.jsp" %>
    which works great if my fragment page is in the /WEB-INF/jsp subfolder. But if I want to access the JSP fragment as it is bundled in a JAR file, this:
    <%@ include file="/WEB-INF/lib/FORM.jar/SOME_FORM.jsp" %>
    doesn't work so good. It's just all wrong.
    I was wondering how I could just write one include statement to get what I need. There are work-arounds galore, but I thought if I could get this working it would be the simplest solution overall.

  • How  to include the inner classes in a jar file in netbeans ide

    Dear java friends
    how to say to netbeans ide that it has to include the
    inner classes in the jar file.
    (i have one single applet class
    with two inner classes that show up
    in the build/classes file but not in the jar).
    The applet works in the viewer but not

    Second, If your problem is that you can't do this in NetBeans, you need to post to somewhere that provides NetBeans support - like the NetBeans website's mailing list. These forums do not support NetBeans (or any other IDE) - they are Java language forums.

  • Include a JSP file located in a JAR

    how is it possible to include a jsp file which is located in a jar? perhaps someone has already a solution for this hoping
    what I already have found out is that jasper parser supports loading JSP files out of JARs, indeed. but when using a <%@import file="foo.jsp"%> directive, this special method is not called. is there some workaround? should I set some special property?
    thx

    Did you ever figure this one out?

  • Play WAV files into the .jar

    Hello,
    I'm doing small application Java with Netbeans.
    I need is to play .wav file sounds are incorporated into the jar.
    I do not want to use external libraries or external sound files, etc.. I want to go with my .JAR to the office, home, etc ... just need the JAR to hear the sounds.
    I've created a folder "Sounds" in "src" and in that place I have my sounds. (Project / src / sounds). It's a way to incorporate a JAR file, or am I wrong?? Run independently of the sound files.
    At the time of reproducing the sound I do the following:
    Clip sonido = AudioSystem.getClip();
    File f = new File(getClass().getResource(/Sonidos/alarma.wav).toURI());
    sonido.open(AudioSystem.getAudioInputStream(f));
    sonido.start();
    If I run the program with netbeans, I play sounds, but which only transfer my .JAR to another computer, does not play ...
    Any ideas?
    Thank's.

    I don't understand, before I had done as you have written me, but did not work, but now it works.
    Problem solved. Thank's.
    Posting the code here:
    InputStream path = getClass().getResourceAsStream("/Sonidos/alarma.wav");
    try
    sonido = AudioSystem.getClip();
    sonido.open(AudioSystem.getAudioInputStream(path));
    sonido.start();
    }catch(Exception fail)
    System.out.println(fail);

  • Howto include JAAS config file in jar-file?

    Hello!
    I need to get the UserName and Domain from unix/windows workstations my users are working on.
    For this task I use JAAS, however it forces me to create my own login-configuration which looks like this:
    Test
      //com.sun.security.auth.NTLoginModule sufficient debug=true;
      com.sun.security.auth.module.UnixLoginModule sufficient debug=true;
    }; 1.) I have to hard-code the path which is quite ugly, so is it possible to pack this configuration into a jar file and how can I tell JAAS that it can find the configuration INSIDE the jar file?
    2.) To use my own configuration is very ugly. I have to if(java.os).... for every configuration because on Linux of course no NTLoginModule is found and vice versa.
    It also is quite anoying that the proprietary class names are hard-coded. What if I want to run this on apple or ibm jvm?
    Thanks in advance, lg Clemens

    I found a solution: simply pass a URL in the property and jaas will load the config-fle from the url!

  • How to package other jar files into one jar?

    How to package other jar files into one jar? How can i get the class in the inner jar file?

    Generally not a good idea. The Java runtime won't be able to load classes from those "inner" jars, you'd have to write your own classloader to do that. It's not a brilliant idea, generally, anyway, since the point of having lots of jars is to keep your application modular. Bundling them all together like that means you have to re-deploy the whole thing to fix, for instance, one small bug in one small library
    If you really want to do this, there's an Eclipse plugin called FatJar, but I urge you to consider whether you really want to do it first.
