Including a String with HTML format

Hello,
Any idea how I can include in a JSP page a String attribute of a bean, so that the format included in the String is being interpreted?
example:
String htmlCode = "<td> textext </td>"
it should display: "textext" (which I will put inside a <tr> </tr>)
something like <tr> <c:out value="${SessionBean.htmlText}"/> </tr>
but c:out is also displaying the TD's...
Thanks!

grazie bsampieri !
that's another question...
Where do I find a good "Manual"?
Regards

    Can you please suggest me whats the best way to acheive this.
    I appreciate all your help

    One problem is that you don't understand escaping. If you re-read what you posted you'll see that what you say you get, and what you say you want, are identical. That's because you didn't escape one of the two properly. So your first step should be to find the section about escaping in Chapter 1 of your XML book and read it carefully. Figure out what you should have done here (yes, the same rules apply).
    However, to attempt to answer what I think your question is: if you have a String which contains markup, and you want to convert that String to XML elements, then you have to feed the String into an XML parser.

  • Desktop.mail  Mailto with HTML formatted email

    I'm trying to make my application send an email with an HTML formatted table in the body. I've got the text to be visible in the email, but it doesn't format according to the tags and the tags are visible. HTML email is turned on in the email client.
    I've been searching all over for a solution. Are there some escape characters I need to use? Has anyone been able to do this or have any ideas?
    String html = "<table>";
            for (int x = 0; x < reportTable.size();x++){
                ReporterObject table = reportTable.get(x);
                html = html+"<tr>" +

                        "<td>"+table.getSchoolName()+"</td>" +
                        "<td>"+table.getTeacherSpoken()+"</td>"+
                        "<td>"+table.getGoal()+"</td>" +
                         "<td>"+table.getAchieved()+"</td>" +
                         "<td>"+table.getPercentAchieved()+"</td>"+
                         "<td>"+table.getApproaches()+"</td>" +
                         "<td>"+table.getAppointments()+"</td>"+
                         "<td>"+table.getGIEA()+"</td>" +
                         "<td>"+table.getReport()+"</td>" +

            html = html + "</table>";
    URI email = new URI("mailto", "mailto:?to=" + emailField.getText() + " &SUBJECT=AL Reports &BODY=" + greeting + html + salutation, null);

    Please see

    Then substitute line
    msg.setText(content);
    /with this one
    msg.setContent( content , "text/html");
    it should do in simplest form.

  • Display issue with HTML formatted text in report builder

    I am using the FCKeditor in my application to allow endusers
    the ability to create formated text on reports. We curently are
    experiencing 2 issues: 1. If you copy and paste from MS Word
    2003/2007 it will not display the text correclty in the report; 2.
    If you use the FCKeditor toolbar to insert bullets or a numeric
    list it will not align the text correctly on the report. We are
    using Coldfusion 8 with Hotfix 1 and Coldfusion Report Builder's
    lastest build release.
    Has one experiences this same issue with HTML fields not
    printing correctly using the Report Builder? What other HTML
    editors besides FCKeditor might we use?
    Thanks,

  • Reading a String with dynamic format.

    Hello,
    I'm learning Java and I'm relatively new to the scene. I decided to make a small free utility with the hope that it will help somebody. The utility is a Game Server (Call of Duty 4) connector that will help Administrators to connect to the server and execute commands without the need of running the game.
    I have made a progress so far by searching these (very useful) forums but I came across a point that I can't by pass.
    The only way to learn "Who Is" from the server is the rcon command "status". Using this command the server returns you the current map and the players playing with all their information. This is the part of the code that I need help at:
    public static void StatusReader(String StatusInput) throws IOException {
                     ArrayList line = new ArrayList();
                        BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new StringReader(StatusInput));
                       String s = null;
                       int l=0;
                  dokimi = StatusInput.split("\n");
             //    for(int j=0;j<9;j++){
              //        int i=0;
              //        dokimi2 = new String[0][0];
              //        dokimi2[0][0] = dokimi[0];
              //        System.out.println(dokimi2[0][0]);
                  System.arraycopy(dokimi, 0, dokimi2, 0, 1);
                for(int i=0;i<(dokimi.length/9);i++){
                        for(int j=0;j<9;j++){
                       dokimi2 = new String[i][j];
                       System.arraycopy(dokimi, 0, dokimi2[i][j], 0, 1);
                       System.out.println(dokimi2[i][j]);
             //     while ((s = br.readLine()) != null)
                  //     line.add(s);
                   //  StatusOutput = new String[line.size()][];
                  //     for (int i = 0; i < StatusOutput.length; i++) {
                  //               s = (String) line.get(i);
                       //          StringTokenizer st = new StringTokenizer(s, "");
                  //               String[] arr = new String[st.countTokens()];
    //                       for (int j = 0; j < arr.length; j++)
      //                                arr[j] = st.nextToken();
            //               StatusOutput[i] = arr;
               //          for (int i = 0; i < StatusOutput.length; i++) {
          //                    for (int j = 0; j < StatusOutput.length; j++)
    //                         System.out.print(StatusOutput[i][j] + " ");
         //                    System.out.println();
    }I've been messing a lot with the code. +_What I want to do is to read this string that the server is sending,split it, and then place it in a 2D Array that I will attach on a table._+ So far I've made the StringTokenizer method to be able to , kind of, sort that String and put it in an array. However I usually get outofbounds errors because not always the lines have the same length. This is an example of the format that the server sends after executing the "status" command:map: mp_crossfire

    Hello DeltaGeek and thanks for your answer.
    I have 2 questions for you since you mentioned what the real problem is. The first question is how can I join 2 cells that will contain the 2 parts of the nickname in case of a space? Can I just check if the cell number x,y contains "^7" and then just copy that cell the x,y-1? Ive tried that but then I also have to move the rest of the columns to y-1 as well. Any idea how to do that?
    I was assuming you'd be processing the split string anyways, and not just tossing it into your 2-d structure. If you want to use .split(), yes. you would need to merge those cells into the original name. System.arrayCopy() would likely be useful for doing most of the heavy lifting.
    Another option you have is to tokenize the string using Scanner. That would let you pull each column out of the string individually. You'll need to populate the array manually (instead of just using what .split() gives you), but allows you to change the token delimiter between pulls.
    As for the junk lines, I can just check if they don't much the tokens number and then just not add them to the array I suppose, am I right or....?That's certainly one option. I don't know what's being given back to you, it may be important.

  • I want to delete a whole line in txt file where i found a string with DATE format.

    #The date have specific format  mm/dd/yyyy
    #I Need to find a line where is date older than one year and then erase it
    $Date = (Get-Date).AddDays(-365)
    write-host "-----------------------"
    $a= '\d{2}\/\d{2}\/\d{4}'
    Select-String -pattern "$a"  -Path C:\test\file.txt -AllMatches |
        ForEach-Object {
            $Info = $_ | #
                Add-Member -MemberType NoteProperty -Name Date -Value $null -PassThru |
                Add-Member -MemberType NoteProperty -Name Captured -Value $null -PassThru
            foreach ($Match in $_.Matches) {
                try {
                    $Date = [DateTime]::ParseExact($Match.Value,"MM\/dd\/yyyy",$null)
                 if($Datum -lt $Date){
                     write-host "$Date is up to date"
                        else{
                            write-host "$Date is old" }  # here should be command which delete the line
            catch {
                    $Date = 'NotValid'

    Or you can use Set-Content like in mjolinor's example, or just pipe to out-file like I suggested, but in both cases you'd need to enclose the get-content in parentheses:
    $Date = (Get-Date).AddDays(-365)
    $a= '\d{2}\/\d{2}\/\d{4}'
    (Get-Content C:\test\file.txt) |
    Where-Object {$_ -notmatch $a -or $(Select-String -pattern "$a" -inputobject $_ -AllMatches |
    Foreach-Object {$good = $true;$(Foreach ($match in $_.matches) {If([datetime]$match.value -lt $date){$good = $False}};$good)})} |
    Set-Content C:\test\file.txt
    Make sure it works as expected then change the filename to file.txt or test it without piping it to file by reviewing it in the console first.  Do you have multiple dates on any lines of your text file?  If not, the other answers are more appropriate.
    I hope this post has helped!

    Hello,
    Thanks for you answer.
    There is a hard problem for this topic.
    how can I get the text value from text field in the html?
    I can got the Document object of the html in implement interface HyperlinkListener.
    Example, I input some chars in the text field<input type="text" name="T1" id="textField">.
    but I can not get the text that I input in the frame.
    Thanks and Best Regards
    here are the codes:
    * Called when a hypertext link is updated.
    * @param e the event responsible for the update
    public void hyperlinkUpdate(HyperlinkEvent e){
         Object src=e.getSource();
         //System.out.println(src);
         HTMLDocument doc=(HTMLDocument)e.getSourceElement().getDocument();//.getDefaultRootElement().getElementCount();
         Element el=doc.getElement("textField");//doc.getDefaultRootElement();
         System.out.println(el.toString());
         if(el!=null){

  • Replacing non-ASCII characters with HTML charcter references

    Hi All,
    In Oracle 10g or greater is there a built-in function that will convert a string with non-ASCII characters like this
    a b č 뮼
    into an ASCII string with HTML character references like this?
    a b & # x 0 1 0 D ; & # x B B B C ;
    (note I had to include spaces between each character in the sample code for message to prevent the forum software from converting my text)
    I tried using
    utl_i18n.escape_reference( val, 'us7ascii' )
    but for some reason it returns
    a b c & # x B B B C ;
    Note how it converted the Western European character "č" to its unaccented counterpart "c", not "& # x 0 1 0 D ;" (is this a bug?).
    I also tried a custom solution using regexp_replace and asciistr (which I can't include here because the forum software chokes on it) but it only returns the correct result for values <=4000 characters long. Unfortunately asciistr doesn't appear to accept CLOB values larger than 4000 characters. It returns an error message like
    (ORA-22835: Buffer too small for CLOB to CHAR or BLOB to RAW conversion (actual: 30251, maximum: 4000) ).
    I'm looking for a solution that works on CLOB data of any size.
    Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide.

    So with that (UTF8) in mind, let's take another look.....
    As shown below, I used a AL32UTF8 database.
    Note: I did not use a unicode capable tool for querying. So I set console mode code page to 1250 just to have č displayed properly (instead of posing as an è).
    Also, as a result of using windows-1250 for client character set, in the val column and in the second select's ncr column (iso8859-1), è (00e8) has been replaced with e through character set conversion going from server back to client.
    Running the same code on a database with a db character set such as we8mswin1252, that doesn't define the č (latin small c with caron) character, would yield results with a c in the ncr column.
    C:\>chcp 1250
    Aktuell teckentabell: 1250
    C:\>set nls_lang=.ee8mswin1250

    Hope this helps to understand whether utl_i8n is usable or not in your case.

  • Field HTML formatted

    Hello,
    I have make a little application that input same note in a table with "HTML Editor Standard" Item. When I read this table in a page with standard report column, I lose the size of font in HTML format. If I use a Item with "Editor HTML" display, I see the correct HTML format but i can change it. If I set read-only attribute I lose HTML format. How can I display a value of table field (with HTML format) without lose HTML text format and lock the user to change it ?
    Thank in advance

    Hi,
    Use Item Style formattedText.

  • Impossible to send a mail with a message in HTML format

    Hi
    I try to send a message in HTML format. Here is the code :
        public void sendMessage(String subject, String message, String to, String cc, String bcc) throws MessagingException  {
             MimeMessage mimeMessage = mailSender.createMimeMessage();
             MimeMessageHelper mimeMessageHelper = new MimeMessageHelper(mimeMessage, true, "UTF-8");
            if(to!=null && !to.equals("")){
                 mimeMessageHelper.setTo(to);
            if(cc!=null && !cc.equals("")){
                 mimeMessageHelper.setCc(cc);
            if(bcc!=null && !bcc.equals("")){
                 mimeMessageHelper.setBcc(bcc);
            mimeMessageHelper.setSubject(subject);
            mimeMessageHelper.setText(message,true);
            mimeMessageHelper.setFrom(from);
            logger.info("host = "+mailSender.getHost());
            logger.info("Port = "+mailSender.getPort());
            //logger.info("UserName = "+mailSender.getUsername());
            //logger.info("Password = "+mailSender.getPassword());
                mailSender.send(mimeMessage);
        }and the message is the following :
    String message = "<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN\" \"http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd\">"+ "<htmlxmlns=\"http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml\"><head><head/><body>"
    +messageSource.getMessage("startpeople.messagetosend.part1", null, Locale.ENGLISH)+ user.getFirstName()+" "+ user.getLastName()+",\n"
    + messageSource.getMessage("startpeople.messagetosend.part2", null, Locale.ENGLISH)+"\n"
    + messageSource.getMessage("startpeople.messagetosend.part3", null, Locale.ENGLISH)+ newPassword+"\n"
    + messageSource.getMessage("startpeople.messagetosend.part4", null, Locale.ENGLISH)+"\n"
    + messageSource.getMessage("startpeople.messagetosend.part5", null, Locale.ENGLISH)+"\n"
    + messageSource.getMessage("startpeople.securim.homepage.internet.address", null, Locale.ENGLISH)+"</body></html>";according to what I found on internet, the method MimeMessageHelper.setText(message,true); specifies that the message is sent in HTML format ( second argument is boolean "true" saying it is a HTML message ).
    But I don't get the message in HTML format. Anyone can help me ? thank you in advance

    MimeMessageHelper appears to be a Spring Framework class; better to ask your
    question in their support forum.
    Of course, you don't need to use MimeMessageHelper to create a simple html message,
    and in your case it doesn't seem to be making things any simpler. See the JavaMail FAQ
    and the demo programs included with JavaMail for simple examples of how to create an
    html message.
