Including JavaScript in Custom Components

What's the recommended way to include large amounts of javascript in a custom component?
I'm working on a calendar component and have the javascript being output in a large writer.write(...), but that writer is outputing about 2,500 lines of javascript.
Instead of doing that could I have the javascript code in a seperate file (stored in my components .jar file) that just gets read and output? What's the best solution?

In case anyone is interested you can do this by adding in HTMLFragments into your grid....
something similiar to.
grid.addComponent(row,col,new HTMLFragment("<script>alert('hello');</script>");

I have an application (HAP_MAIN_DOCUMENT) of component FPM_OIF_COMPONENT which uses a Webdynpro component with the same name (HAP_MAIN_DOCUMENT). This Webdynpro component (HAP_MAIN_DOCUMENT) uses 2 other components (HAP_DOCUMENT_BODY and HAP_DOCUMENT_HEADER).
For my client requirement, i need to create the custom components by copying from standard components as the UI layout changes are quiet huge and not manageable with the enhancements. To accomodate this i have changed the standard configurations by replacing the standard web dynpro components with the custom ones copied. Apart fomr this there are no changes to the standard.
While trying to access the application, i am getting the error as Null object reference. the details of the error is as below. Please advice.

How are you able to configure Custom Web dynpro application to Appraisal document instead of HAP_MAIN_DOCUMENT. could you please share the steps. We have created custom application a copy of HAP_MAIN_DOCUMENT and the other two webdynpro components are also copied.
We dont know how to link this to Appraisal template. BADI HRHAP00_BSP_TMPL is used to change application names for BSP application. How to change application name for Web dynpro ABAP. Please share the stpes which will help us

JavaScript help Including JavaScript in a .js File Referenced by the Page

I need help with JavaScript. I have been doing the Advanced Tutorial, and still don't feel that understand how to make it work.
The example in "Oracle Database Application Express User's Guide" shows this line:

I understand that "my_images" is hypothetical, but where is the real equivalent to this?
Is there a working example/tutorial of Including JavaScript?

in APEX, where do I place the "time.asp" script?

The documentation only gives you a possible example (and I might agree that it’s not the best one). You should put your external JS files (on the server OS file system) wherever it will be most accessible and maintainable for you. The best place, IMHO, is under the /images/javascript/ directory. The reason is very simple. You can use the alias /i/, which defined in your DAD file, to gain a very simple path to the file. In this case, the loading statement will look similar to the following:

I’m assuming you are talking about the on-demand process. This is a regular PL/SQL anonymous block, which will be fired only upon specific request - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10513_01/doc/appdev.310/e10499/bldr.htm#BABEAIIE . This is the mechanism for handling the server side of AJAX.

How to include JavaScript in a list instance's form in Visual Studio

So I know you can use JSLink to include JavaScript files in list definitions in Schema.<g class="gr_ gr_8 gr-alert gr_spell ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" data-gr-id="8" id="8">xml</g> like so:

But how can I do this with a list instance that I'm provisioning that's based on the tasks list definition? Is there somewhere I can include JSLink in the instance's Elements.xml?

If you would have your own custom list definition, you could deploy a custom form for your list instance, and set the JSLink element of the Form. You cannot set it "globally" for the list, only per form.
If your list instance is based on a built-in list instance (like Tasks in your case) you should set the JSLink property from code. If you would like to deploy the list instance and set the JSLink property from a .wsp package, you should lookup the list form
and set this property from a feature receiver. If you already created / deployed the list instance, the simplest method is to set the property via PowerShell. See the code samples for PowerShell and C# in this thread.

Adding custom components on runtime

I have a bunch of custom components all on their own files I want to add on the fly, right now i already included them into my mxml file but set their visibile to false. I don't want that.
I want to be able to add them on the fly say if i click a button one of my custom component shows up?

you can do this example you have a component with some name "myComponent.mxml" you can call its constructer when you want it to appear in your application like for this component you can do
var myComp:myComponent=new myComponent()
then you can simply call your containers addChild method to add it to the displayList of your container and removeChild method when you dont need it anymore.
if you want to add Components when the application has completed its loading then you should probbably save your component as separate module in order to load it in your application when you need it.

Importing custom components

I just downloaded and installed Update 5 and now I cannot import my custom component.
The new update requires the component packaged as a Component Library File with comlib?? extension. I tried to find any docs on the new packaging scheme but couldnt find any. Can anyone on the creator team please supply the info?

Managing included javascripts

Hi
Are there any way to manage the included javascripts in Muse?
We have a custom jquery plugin, which does not work with the jQuery muse automatically wants to include. However, if we comment it out (after exporting to html), and include a normal jquery-min.js file, it works perfectly.
However, when we do that, there comes a popup with some muse-scripts not working.
Including the working one in the top doesn't work, since it gets overrided in the bottom.

Issue with SSIS Custom Components - 64 bit SQL 2012

Our SSIS packages built on SQL 2008 R2 make use of some custom components. These custom components are installed as part of an MSI. The dll's are copied over to the Windows/assemble [GAC Folder] and also to the Program Files(x86)/SQL Server/110/DTS/* folder.
The installation does not copy the dll's to the 64 bit program files folder.
X:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\DTS
These packages are executed via SQL Agent jobs on a 64 bit SQL server and there does not seem be any issue.
Now we are upgrading our servers to SQL 2012 and we have a new installer for the custom components as well. The new custom components use .NET Framework 4.0 and when installed the dll files get copied over to the Ms.NET 32 bit runtime GAC folder and also
to the SQL Server DTS Folder in x86. The upgraded packages work only when we set the runtime mode to 32 bit. The packages successfully executes within the 32 bit dtexec utility, but when we try to run the same package using a 64 bit dtexec utility the
process errors out with a component failed to load message. The package moves data between two SQL Server instances.
The custom components have always been built for 32 bit runtime. I can run a older package through the dtexec utility (from the 64 bit folder in program files) and it does work without any issues. After the upgrade the package will only execute on
a 32 bit utility. can someone help me understand this issue?

i think we got the answer as well, as the .NET framework 3.0 installer copied the files over to the C:\windows assembly the dtexec utility [32 bit/64 bit] was able to load the components.
Now with the new installer the files are copied to specific runtime gac folders as Arthur has mentioned. The 64 bit utility does not find the dlls in the GAC whereas the 32 bit version will find them.

I'm on a mac running 10.6.8, was using Firefox 6.02 when the problem started, i performed a clean install of 7.01, installed the latest Flashplayer, and reinstalled java (the 10.6.5 update file from apple's site).
I seem able to load video at youtube.com, and was able to load web-based irc chatrooms at ircchat.tv. however, at jamplay.com a paid member site, all of the lessons are flash video, and there's a live video feed chat room that is also flash based, and I am not able to view this content. the video content pops up the error message "Error: the xajax Javascript file could not be included. Perhaps the URL is incorrect?

I have contacted the jamplay site team but their recommendations are the steps I have already taken, mentioned above, that did not resolve the issue.

I can't seem to recreate the actual error without being logged in as a member of the site.
The apple support team gave me a one-time free suppport ticket to troubleshoot an ethernet issue I was having. Unfortunately, the databases I removed were not deemed either by apple or me to be noteworthy or necessary to retain (all of them were for software I not longer have or use). I don't know which plist file might have been the one I need now. I did reinstall the java and flash items. The only other item that I think it might be is a set of belkin router software that I uninstalled because i'm not using any belkin hardware anymore.
If someone has any kind of idea I would be most appreciative.

That's a comment in the file. It has no effect at all.

Generating a clientId for Custom Components

I am creating a custom component that will be made up of smaller form elements and maybe even smaller custom components. Does JSF provide the mechanism for generating the clientId for each of these components and thier sub-components.
What I don't want to do is this:
writer.writeAttribute("name", clientId + "_id" + subComponentCounter++);
...

I got that part. But what if your component has sub-components. Do you just name them whatever you want? I know that you could. But what if they are dynamically generated? And what if your sub-components have sub-components.
So for example:

Dynamic include in a custom tag, called from a jsp

Hello, I would like to be able to dynamically include other jsp's from within a custom tag that I create. is this possible?
in a jsp page i would just write <%@ include file="file.jsp" %> and all would be ok... but if i do an out.println( "<%@ include file=\"file.jsp\" %>" ); inside a custom tag bean then it doesn't work. it just prints out the command to the page as plain text.
I do understand why this is happening, but can anyone offer me a way around this problem?

That's actually the same result as you get with a normal include - The method I suggested is a dynamic include similar to the <jsp:include> tag, not the <%@ include %> tag.
When you use a dynamic include, the included page is compiled and 'invoked' as serarately, and the result is what gets included, not the actual source. To get the behaviour you want would require an include directive (the <%@ include %> tag) which I don't think has an equivalence you can use inside a custom tag.
What you can do is pass attributes from the tag class like this:
pageContext.setAttribute(<name>, <object>, pageContext.REQUEST_SCOPE);
and then remove them after the include using pageContext.removeAttribute.
I'm not certain, but this implies that if you declare your variables with a <jsp:usebean> tag with request scope, instead of normal Java variable declarations, you should be able to use them in the page included by the custom tag.

How to include javascript in Edge?

I am new to jQuery and Edge.
I want to add some "Drag" functions to my project and I browsed the forum and found a javascript plugin. So I downloaded the js files and placed them in my project folder (the folder containing .an and .html)
I searched the forum and found a way to include javascript which is adding the following code in compositonReady event
$("<script type='text/javascript' charset='utf-8' src='myjs.js'>").appendTo("#Stage");
and I replaced "myjs.js" with the plugin file name but it seems not working. When I view the html code there is only "MyProject_edgePreload.js" in it. Thanks for guiding me what's wrong here.

Better tools are available: yepnope() and $.getScript().

2) $.getScript() is a jQuery function : $.getScript("js fileName", function(){ your code });
