Including video player in a web page

Hi,
We are trying to include a vedio player in our web site which should be compatible with MAC & Windows OS (Safari & IE browsers). We tried Real player , VLC player & Quick time but they are not running without codec.
If it is running for mac, it will not run in Windows & vis a vsa.
Can anyone suggest a player we can embed into our website which will be compatible with both OS.
Thanks

    I am attempting to embed a youtube video in a flash web page I created. I have been able to do this in html on static sites and thought I might be able to do the same in flash. Can anyone walk me thru the steps to do this?

    Thank you Rob,

    how do I do this? Do I do this in actionscript (how) or the import

  • List of variables for included video player?

    I wanted to use the included video player from Flash media server but can't find a list of variables and values to pass to the player. Is there a list and could anyone point me in the right direction? I'm specifically looking to pass a stream name for a live stream to the video player.
    Thank you,

    Thanks for the reply Honglei!
    Still I believe you've misunderstood the question. What I seek is documentation on the features of the player and info on it's parameters/variables.
    I've included the FMS startpage object code and here you see a bunch of them. Take the parameters:
    dsControl=manual (quess this is dynamic stream control)
    dsSensitivity=100 (quess this dynamic stream sensitivity)
    DS_Status=true (quess this dynamic stream status)
    streamType=vod
    ....etc
    These are just some of the parameters and I'm looking for an overview and explanation of them all.

  • How can I disable html5 videos from displaying on web pages?

    I use yahoo.com as my "news" page. In the last month or so there are more and more small format videos next to the new article. Used to be just a still pic, but now more "invasive". If I had my way I'd still click on "text only" like the old modem days. I want to READ an article, and I find the video images on their main page, before clicking on a story, to be distracting. Also, I'm on a limited data usage plan so don't appreciate them shoving data down my throat.
    Using Firefox 32.0 and Windows 8.1
    Yesterday I installed the "No Script" extension thinking I could block Just these videos, but doesn't seem to work that way. It blocks most everything including interactions like clicking on a button.
    If I examine the "object" (video) it appears to be an "html5" item. This seems to be something new from what I can google.
    There are a few help screens for html5, but these are "how do I play them" instead of "how can I block them".

    Try to set the media.autoplay.enabled pref to false on the <b>about:config</b> page.
    You can open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location/address bar.
    You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

    You can also see if this extension works (Flash Block is currently broken).

  • Firefox latest update will not print youtube videos on my websites - just has a blank space in place of video when I print web page?

    WinXP - When I preview a web page before printing it - it is blank where my Youtube video should appear - and when I print the web page, Firefox prints a blank space where the video should appear?
    How can I fix this?

    Can't be done due to the aforementioned Bug that was reported on the Gecko Core back in 2002. Never worked in Firefox which was just beginning initial development under the Phoenix moniker, when that Bug was filed.
    '''Content of plugins (flash, java applets) doesn't get rendered for printing or print preview'''
    Have you tried "printing" to PDF??

  • Adding an HTML5 audio player to a web page

    I have a need to add audio player to a few band sites where there is a list of songs, or playlist, and someone can pick a song (or more) and the player will play it.  Since the HTML5 audio tag will work only on one file, the only way I have found to do this is to make a separate page for each sound file and have it use it's own instance of the audio tag.  I have seen many sites that have embedded audio players, but have no idea how they did it.  I do see several 3rd party players on the net that can be used.  Do any of you have any recommendations?
    I am not looking to have music start automatically or on page load.

    Look at Pickle Player.  A commercial player that works in all web devices with MP3 audio or MP4 video and supports playlists.

  • Possible to "grab" a video clip from a web page?

    I am listening to a video clip (spoken by a favorite writer of mine,
    http://anon.salon.speedera.net/anon.salon/mp3s/nin1.mp3 ) and I would like to get it, have it, and put it in my hard drive to listen to with a single click. Is this possible? To "grab" a video clip from the Internet?

    Lorna,
    the trick is not to hold down the shift key and then
    press the rightmost arrow on the QT player, but hold
    down the Ctr key instead.
    .......... Lorna says .............................................
    Hello, Mr. Ouderkirk.......... I FEEL LIKE THE BIGGEST NERD ON THE PLANET. I read your reply and also the reply of NewMacGuru and do not see any of the items to which you both refer. First of all, I actually was able to get the download by following Mike Wong's instructions, but you were very kind to reply and I want to acknowledge you (and I also want to learn what you are trying to teach me!!).
    The thing for me is: I see a blank screen with a video clip icon. There are no down arrows, there is no indication of a QUICKTIME player anywhere. Thus, your and NewMacGuru's instructions to me to click this and that thing is like telling the nomad in the desert, "Find that Coke machine, insert 75¢, and the can will fall out" and the nomad is sitting there on his camel, scratching all the hairs out of his head. (But in a loving way.)
    A menu will appear giving you the option to save the
    movie to the desktop (at least it does that on my
    computer, but I do use QT Pro)
    An alternative for you could be to use Ambrosia
    software's 'Wiretap' which lets you grap any sound
    that your computer produces.
    Have fun.
    Harry
    .......... Lorna says .............................................
    Harry, I like the idea of Ambrosia, but there is the Basic 101 part of my brain that wants me to understand everyone's explanations. Maybe this is a bad thing for me and maybe I should just be glad that there are ways to do things without understanding what one is doing -- like iWeb making a webite without knowing a lick of HTML.
    So.... imagine me seeing a white screen with no arrows, no nothng except that long thin horizontal icon of a video control bar, and you will see my predicament. BUT THANK YOU FOR TRYING, HARRY.

  • Videos stop starting on web pages

    Hello.
    A UK Member here!
    When I play videos on YouTube and other websites like news channels etc. does the flow of the video become bitty (stop/start) and not free flowing please?
    Is it my Graphics card? Does it need updating? If so, to what please?
    If not then what is the problem please?
    My broadband is a good connection of 4MB.
    OSX10.4.11
    Thanks in advance!

    The buss speed on the older PPC power macs is insufficient to stream video. The network card takes a significant amount of resources then adding the data bandwidth for video and there is nothing left. The machine just wasn't made for that much data to flow through it. When the network card needs to off load data to the HD, it requires complete control of the data buss for that time. The video needs the same when it loads data. The two collide and you get a freeze of the video. (one has to win the conflict.) A faster machine is needed. There are vastly many other factors that can cause this problem in even the speedy machines but the PPC mac's of yesterday just can't handle the load. There are things that can be done to minimize the IO buss workload like limiting apps that are running. In the end, you just need a more modern machine for modern usages.
    That is my take on it.

  • Is there a way to have one flash player play all moives on a web page ?

    Hi,
      Is there a way to have one flash player play all movies on a web page ?   For example, you have a list of FLV movies on a page and you click on any them and it will play on the same player on the web page. Or does each movie needs it's own ?
    Thanks in advance..
    Peter

    Yes, for the design I made, the movies are loaded from the server.  Here is the code for the design.  It is done using AS2, and the stage includes two buttons (s1, s2) for playing the individual videos, one button to play them both (playall), one after the other, and the video object (video1_video) that was added via small menu you find at the top of the library panel's frame.
    I cannot say this would work directly for your implementation, but it gives you some things you can look into so that you can figure out how.
    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
    // ignore whatever code is above this... the forum added it, not me
    stop();
    ncount = -1;
    var connection_nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
    connection_nc.connect(null);
    var stream_ns:NetStream = new NetStream(connection_nc);
    stream_ns.setBufferTime(3);
    stream_ns.onStatus = function(infoObject:Object) {
            for (var prop in infoObject) {
                   if(infoObject[prop] == "NetStream.Play.Stop" && ncount == 0){
                       video1_video.attachVideo(stream_ns);
                       stream_ns.play("20051210-w50s.flv");
                       ncount += 1;
    playall.onRelease = function(){
          ncount = 0;
          video1_video.attachVideo(stream_ns);
          stream_ns.play("barsandtone.flv");
    s1.onRelease = function(){
          video1_video.attachVideo(stream_ns);
          stream_ns.play("barsandtone.flv");
    s2.onRelease = function(){
          ncount = -1;
          video1_video.attachVideo(stream_ns);
          stream_ns.play("20051210-w50s.flv");
    I don't deal with video very often, so I have not created an AS3 version of this.

  • Flash video on web page takes long very time to load before it starts playback

    I just created a basic flash file to play a video on my web page and it's taking several minutes to load before it starts playback.
    I'm using progressive downlaod and the file is in *.mov format and is 84MB in size. At first that seemed large to me for web play back, but I thought it could handle it since I thought the way progressive download works is that it would start playing the first frame right away and progressively play other frames as they download. However, this seems to be downloading the whole file first (or a major part of it) before starting any playback at all.
    Is there some kind of setting I'm missing or is my understanding of the download incorrect and the file size is too large?
    Some vitals:
    - I'm using Flash Pro CS5
    - To create my flash file, I used the standard import video wizard and selected the a file that is "on my computer" and "load external video with playback component" and then, I selected one of the standard skins.
    - To deploy the vidoe on my webiste I have three files:
    1) swf file containing the FLV component
    2) the swf file related to skin
    3) the actual video (84MB, mov file)
    - Web page includes/embeds reference to swf file

    Thanks for your response again. Looks like things have changed a bit to complicate this a little more.
    adninjastrator wrote:
    Are you saying that if I wait long enough it will start to play .... from the link you posted?
    What you are implying here is correct. The file won't play no matter how long you wait.  Looks like it's because of the "source" file settings in the Import Wizard may now be incorrrect. This is why it's not playing in the new file.
    When I created my original Flash Video using a MOV file, during the import wizard, when asked "Where is your video file?" I selected the option "Already deployed to a web server...". Here I entered the url to where the video file is located on my production server.
    When I created the new Flash Video using F4V file, during the import wizard, when asked "Where is your video file?" I selected the option "On your computer". Here I selected the file from my local drive.
    Sorry for not pointing out the inconsistency earlier - I didn't think it mattered and plus I couldn't get the F4V file to import from the web server.
    Anyway, I've changed my object tag using the acutal published html that flash generates and have uploaded all source files to same location.
    http://www.upperhand.com/tv/video-intro.html
    To sum up the problem(s) I need help with:
    Issue #1 - When trying to import F4V file using import wizard, I cannot use "Already deployed to a web server..." as an option for the file location. I believe this is creating issue #2
    Issue #2 - For some reason, the F4V file will not load into the SWF file when it's published to my production server.
    It works when viewing locally through browser as c:\inetpub\wwwroot\mywebsite\video-intro.html
    It doesn't work when viewing on development server through browser as http://localhost/mywebsite/video-intro.html
    It doesn't work when viewing on production server through browser as http://www.mywebsite.com/video-intro.html
    Issue #3 - When the above are resolved, I'm not certain if my orignal question/issue will be resolved...  browser tries to downlaod full file before any playback.
