Including webutil objects with api

Is possible including webutil objects (objects from object library and webutil.pll ) with forms API. Exists examples for this?

The answer is yes - it's pretty simple to carry out the tasks you need to do. Attaching the PLL and the Object Group are simple (see the JDAPI samples in the forms Demos for this) and for the conversion of the Code calls - e.g. OLE2 to CLIENT_OLE2 you can actually use the migration assistant to make the string changes in the PL/SQL code for you. It has a code replacfement feature configured through it's properties file which you can add to to do this.

Create generic object with API

Hi,
i have created a document category and saved it to cFolders configuration directory. I can create this document category with a web ui but i have to do it with API from my program. I have found only function CFX_API_DOC_CREATE to create a folder content. Can I use this function to create my document category? When yes - how can I set the document category during create? Or should i use another function?

Generic object can be created with function module CFX_API_DOC_CREATE. The category id have to set up with the parameter I_TYPE_ID.

How to create the Frame object with API in 6i?

do i create an item using d2fitmcr_Create, and then set the type or style to frame? or is it a graphics item that i have to create using a different function? ive tried various combinations with no luck.
ive looked at the frame object in the GUI, and cant figure out how to duplicate it using the API (the frame object is the thin line box with a label used to groups items visually on a form)

Frame is a type of graphic d2fgracr_Create() (d2fgra.h) then set the type as required using d2fgras_graphics_typ():

Inserting Entry into Custom Object with API

Hello,
I have a custom object made and access to both BULK and REST APIs.
I was wondering how I could take the information I have (It's only 4 fields) and inserting this information as a new record into my data object.
I have the ID for my data object I just can't seem to find the API call I'm looking for.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Adding new records to a Custom Object is best done using the Bulk API. You need to define a Custom Object import and use it to sync your records into Eloqua.

DI API - accessing objects with Read only permissions

Scenario: I have setup a user in B1 with "Read Only permissions" on the Business Partner. When I log into the DI API as this user and try instantiating the BP object, I get a message "Loged on user does not have permissions".
Why am I getting this? Shouldnt I be able to instantiate the object and read the property values. i understand that I cannot Add or Update because of read only permissions.
Is there a way we can retreive values for users using the DI API or should the best option be to write a SQL statement.

Requiring the user to have full authorization to instantiate an object is a serious limitation for the DI API. It makes it virtually useless. After all it is supposed to be OOP and all the trimmings isnt it? It also takes a lot of control away from the user.

I have confirmation from B1 product definition, the DI API access for objects with Read only permissions will not be included in the 2007A version. It will be considered for the following version after 2007A.
There is a chapter called "Authorization Checks" in the SDK Help file specifying:
"SAP Business One performs authorization checks for the business objects and the infrastructure and meta data objects. If a user does not have full authorization to access the objects in SAP Business One, the user will not have permission to access the data belonging to the business objects using the DI API."

Added webutil object group with JDAPI - adjust the webutil block sequence ?

Hi all,
I'm using the JDAPI to subclass in the webutil object group into Forms in an application. Annoyingly, the webutil block becomes the first block on the Form - which means on some Forms it displays on startup. Is there anyway (programmatically using JDAPI) that I can move the block the end of the block list after I've subclassed in the object group ?

Reorders an object with respect to its siblings in the collection it belongs to. This is similar to using drag and drop in Form Builder to move a block in a list. This method represents a way to do the same thing programmatically. For example, if you want a block appear immediately before Block5 in a list, you pass the object representing Block5 as the nextObject argument.
Pass null to this method to move the object to the end of the list. If the specified object and the next_object do not share the same owner, or do not have the same type, the method throws an exception.
You cannot use this method to move objects between parents. For example, it cannot be used to move an Item from one Block to another. If you want to move an object from one parent to another you will have to do something like:

Serializing objects with the NIO API

I try to use the new IO API to implement a non-blocking multi-threaded server that communicates with client applications by exchanging serialized objects. I started from the code in the JavaWorld article at http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-09-2001/jw-0907-merlin.html .
With the new features of J2SDK 1.4.0, you don't have to create a separate thread per connected client. That is a big improvement.
But when I read an object with ObjectInputStream, I get a java.nio.channels.IllegalBlockingModeException.
Has anybody successfully implemented such a server since the release of the new io API?

The ObjectStream code is basically incompatible with non blockin I/O since you must block on the stream until a whole Object is available. You could roll something like this yourself, by reading bytes until there are enough available to build the next object and then getting that Object from the buffer and shipping it to your client thread. All of this is far more trouble than just using the Stream oriented I/O.
NIO and mutilple threads are a nightmare, the whole idea of non-blocking I/O is to avoid needing multiple threads. If you do use multiple threads you will need queues between them. See the Taming the NIO Circus topic for lots of discussion of NIO and its problems. The system seems more stable in JDK 1.5, but most people haven't even started using 1.4 for production yet.
Personally I avoid ObjectStreams. They are only useful between Java applications, if I want that I just use RMI and let Java do ALL the hard work. When I write a Socket based app, its probably because the other end is a mainframe of a C program. For that reason I send data as bytes, packaged up in packets, and encode as XML or ASN.1 so the other end can interpret it.

Crystal Reports 2008 - can't see Salesforce objects with 2 parent objects

I am running CR 2008 SP 1 and accessing Salesforce to create reports. I just discovered that 2008 does not make available any Salesforce objects that have more than one parent. This is only an issue if you define multiple relationships in Salesforce as Parent/Child. Lookup relationships are not an issue.
I am using CR XI for another client and it can see these objects without problem. Is this a design issue or is it a bug with CR 2008?
Hs anyone else encountered this issue? Thoughts on ways to access these object short of redesigning my Salesforce data?
BTW, I and using 2008 SP1 because SP2 does not work when accessing Salesforce.

It turns out that the ability to access Salesforce objects with multiple parents was included in release 11 of the Salesforce API. CR 2008 SP1 used release 9 of the API. CR SP2 uses release 13 of the API. Once they get SP2 fixed for the Salesforce interface, this issue will go away.

Odd, have you disabled caching and indirection? (NoIdentityMap, dontUseIndirection, or alwaysRefresh/disableCacheHits). If so, then this could be the issue.
Otherwise please include the sample code you use to perform this, and verify that you do not have any unusual code in your set/get methods or in descriptor events. Also turn TopLink logging on and include a sample. Also ensure that you do not modify your objects until after registering them in the unit of work, and only modify the unit of work clones.

How to copy objects from Pages (5.5.1) and paste it into Photoshop as a vector smart object with high resolution?

I recently have bought a new Macbook Pro (Version 10.10.1) with the OS X Yosemite. The computer comes with the new Pages (version 5.5.1).
Here is the problem: I like to create artwork using the shapes on Pages. Previously, on my old mac, I used Pages 4.3 to create objects, which I would copy then paste to Photoshop and it would become a vector smart object. However, in the new Pages (version 5.5.1), when I copy objects, they would appear on Photoshop as instead, a layer and it would not be in full resolution.
Also, I know there is nothing wrong with the Pages file itself because I have converted the document to PDF form and it is high resolution when inserted into Photoshop that way.
Does anyone know how I can copy individual objects from Pages (5.5.1) and paste it into Photoshop as a vector smart object with high resolution as I have done before?

Oh, well if you don't actually need vector objects then it looks like this is possible. As I said earlier, Pages is putting a PNG on the clipboard. I tested it and it does paste into Photoshop as a transparent layer, because I can see the transparent background of the pasted PNG graphic if I either turn off all layers behind it in Photoshop, or if I start a new Photoshop document to paste into but make sure I choose Transparent for the Background Contents in the New Document dialog.

Script throwing error" Object required: 'API'

We need help in one issue. We have following script which is running fine when we ran it from script editor, but when use this as expression in import format is throwing error

IF I can not use API object in import script, how can I process multiple column with one script. We need to derive three-four column based on one input column and we don't want to write separate import script for each column. How and where we can write this script?
Are we missing any step? Any help will be highly appreciated. Looks I asked long question :)

OK. In requirment we have three-four column based on these column we need to derive few other column. We want to do spilitting and validation in Import itself. This is mainly a Validation requirment.
There is one column which may have 12,13,14,17 or any other number of character in it. first three will represent one dimension but exact value be a mapped result based on these three digits.
There are many validation based on the number on charaters and most importantly we don't want to process other column is validation get failed at any stage.
Do we have anything like Import Action? Probably we want to change that script. Or if we can write something like integration script. We need every column to be processed in one shot.
I don't think it is self explantry. Can we have your email please?

Create lock object with fun command

Hallo,
Is it possible to create a lock object with the fun command? I tried to use:
FUN ( ENQUEUE _<lockobject> , <interface> ).
When I fill the importing parameters, execute the script and afterwards refresh the interace than the import parameters are empty. Is there a way to create a lock object with the fun command or at least with inline abap?

Hi Wolfgang,
in general your way of including the FUN command was correct.
The loss of import parameter values must have been caused by some other reason, not related to the invoke of enqueue. Maybe try it again.
If, for any reason, using FUN is not possible, it's always an alternative to use ABAP. .... ENDABAP. with correct ABAP coding inbetween (e.g. CALL FUNCTION ...).
Nevertheless regarding enqueue you need to consider, that the lock you set by running eCATT test scripts in this way, will last (only) as long as the session in which the function was called is active. Means, it lasts as long as you do not close the SECATT transaction (/n or similar) and not use commands like RESCON in your test script. Check your locks with transaction sm12.
Be aware, that interfering with an applications lock handling and strategy might also harm running transactions or the data processed by this transactions. Usually there is no need to call the enqueue modules from a test.

Set the ACL with API by non-admin user

We are enhancing the file upload functionalities with setting the readers of the documents. The upload user is not admin user but he can have the full control or permission owner of the folder, but we found he can't still setting the ACL of the documents he created in the folder. While if he has the admin role, he can setting the ACL successfully.
Can the permission owner be inherited? Or any other way to achieve this? Urgent! Any helpful anwser will be reward, many tks!!!!

Did you check the logfile for exception, also post them.
Is the current user permission owner of the folder/file?
If not he cannot assign permissions/ACL.

Inheriting permission owner:
If you save permissions on folder/file, the system stops inheriting permissions for the object in question.

BC4J Objects with PKs based on two columns using multiple sequences

I have implemented a BC4J object that is based on a DB table that has two columns as the primary key. For example Table A's primary key is Group and ID and there is a DB sequence for each Group.
I use the BC4J object using servlets and JSPs and I have been able to implement an Update form.
I now want to implement a Create (New) form. I've read forum postings and info on the help regarding using the SequenceImpl class to override the EntityImpl object's create method as shown below:

I would like to put this code in the Entity Object where it belongs. I guess my problem is simply how to create a new row in the View Object with a passed parameter which is the value of Group.

How is the EO suppose to receive the group id? Is it from the view row? If so, the VO can pass that group id to the EO through the attribute list and calling the
public Row createAndInitRow(AttributeList nvp);
API.
Example code would be:

// GroupID is the attr name of the Group ID
nvp.setAttribute("GroupID", <some-value>);
Row row = myVO.createAndInitRow(nvp);
If you do that the create(AttributeList attributeList) method of the EO will receive the GroupID value coming from the VO.
Then, you can use that for your sequence.
