Incomplete OS 9 install; Can't re-start in OS X

I've got OS 10.4.11 running fine on my iMac G4 800mHz 17" Flat Panel. To use certain software, I've decided to also reinstall OS 9.2.2, as this machine was initially set up with it. I have lost the OS9 DVD that came with this machine, so I tried to use the OS 9.2.2 from Apple's Netboot for OS 9, using Pacifist for the extraction. The install went well enough to let me select OS9 as the Startup Disk in that OS X panel. However, the OS 9 boot failed, and now all I get is the OS 9 boot screen, with the blinking question mark in the small blue folder. I cannot get the machine to boot into OS 10.4.11.
I have removed both the OS 9 System Folder and the Application (Mac OS 9) folder, and zapped the PRAM, but the machine still thinks it should boot in OS 9.
How can I change the startup back to OS 10.4.11? Can I make a bootable OS X system on an external drive, then make the change? Or, as I can access the internal drive in Target Mode, are there some files I can manipulate?

There's more than one way to try -
• Restart or boot, then immediately press the X key, keep it held down until it has started to boot to OSX. This keyboard command instructs the machine to seek a valid OSX to use for booting.
• Restart or boot, immediately press the key combo Command-Option-Shift-Delete (that's the large Delete key two rows above the Return key). This keyboard command instructs the machie to ignore the boot OS preset in PRAM and to boot to the next valid one it can find.
Those commands should work provided you have an Apple brand keyboard, or one which is compatible with the Mac startup keyboard command set.
Once the machine has booted to OSX, use Startup Disk to reset the boot volume choice to OSX on the hard drive.
You can also boot the machine to a valid OSX install CD, then use its Startup Disk to select OSX on the hard drive as the boot OS.

Downloading and installing iTunes will not fix this problem. If the other troubleshooting steps do not work, go to the Control Panel and uninstall iTunes, Apple Mobile Device Services, Quicktime and any other Apple program that might be present. Reboot your computer, then download and install the latest version of iTunes.

Thank you. I am a little bit busy at work, sorry for the delayed reply. I tried to solve the problem, but it still exists. The 3rd of the Adobe disk is damaged someway. I tried to run on my mac at home and it has a failure. So I think we have no other choice that to download the full pack of master collection. I had a discussion with the IT expert and he figured out that company does not exist any more from where they purchased the Adobe Master Collection for Mac and PC. So If you would be kind to help me, what kind of information ID or any kind of document would be needed to identify the purchaser institute (us). I don't think any of us has an account at the Adobe. I will try to figur out. I desperately need to replace Photoshop and InDesign as without them it's really harsh to teach the kids fot the graphic design.

Solaris 10 for X86 Install issue: "Server for display :0 can't be started"

After fixing my "can't set locale" problem I am moving onto the "Server for display :0 can't be started" issue.
Checking /etc/dtc/Xerrors yields:
1) error (PID 380) : Server unexpectedly died
2) error (PID 380) : Server for display :0 can't be started
I\ve tried running kdconfig and setting XSun not XOrg. I am using a 2 channel KVM with a 3 button mouse (the only PS2 mouse I have lying around...) but the config seems to pick it up without any problems.

Installing on Old PC: Starts But Then Can't Find .SFS File

I have an old PC with an AMD Athlon CPU and 448 MB RAM that has Win 2000 on it. I downloaded Arch yesterday (md5sum OK) and tried to install it. It started up OK, but then ended with this on the screen:
large image removed and linked (OP: put link to thumbnail between the url tags)
I tried several other distros, and they all died similarly, looking for some file after having a number of them.
I don't think it's a CD-burning problem, because I do a lot of .iso's on my main machine. Could it be the result of burning the .iso on one machine and reading it on another?

Hard drive failure (why can't I start up with boot disk)?

Running OS 10.4.6. I was getting flashing question mark at startup. Tried starting with Disk Warrior holding down "C" key. Got Apple logo, but then screen frooze with horizontal lines across screen.
Rebooted, held mouse to eject disk. Tried TechTool Pro disk. Would not boot from that either (got circle with slash logo I think).
Finally was able to boot with Tiger install disk.
Ran disk utility from Tiger disk. My internal hard drive showed up in red letters and said "failing"
OK.....I can understand that.....I guess my hard drive crashed (on my 2 year old Powerbook...oh well)
But, why can't I start up with any of my boot disks (Disk Warrior, TechTool) only the Tiger install disk. Also the Panther and Jaguar disks will NOT start it...only the Tiger disk works. One more thing I'm wondering....I connected my external firewire drive that has a boot partition on it that I have started up with in the past....and it won't boot my laptop either.
Any ideas? Thanks for any insight. Guess I'll head to the genius bar tomorrow. At least my extended warranty is still good (I think).

Here is what the outcome was:
I took my Powerbook into Apple Genius bar (still under 3 yr. AppleCare), he determined that my hard drive had crashed. He shipped it for me to be repaired.
It came back with a message attached saying that the source of the problem was my 3rd party RAM, which was a 1 GB module. The note said that the memory had been removed...and that in some cases like this the removed memory will be sent back to the customer and will be in the box somewhere. I checked and it wasn't there. The "Get Info" for my system said I was now running on 512 mb instead of the usual 1.5 GB. The note said that this 3rd party RAM had caused the hard drive to fail, so the hard drive had been replaced.
I ordered a new 1GB RAM module from Apple for $300, didn't want to take a chance on 3rd party again. But....when it arrived, I went to install it....and my 1GB 3rd party module was in the slot....it just wasn't pushed all the way in I guess. I pushed it in firmly, closed up the computer, started it, and the "Info" read 1.5 GB again. I ended up removing the 512mb module and replacing that with the new 1GB one I bought from Apple. So now I have 2GB of memory and and extra 512 that I can't use. It has been running fine ever since (more than 2 months)
Can bad RAM really make a hard drive go bad?
I wonder why they said they had removed the RAM, but it actually had not been removed (at least not completely)

I'm new to Arch. I decided to try it so I installed the i686 core image in Virtualbox 4.0.12
under Ubuntu 11.04, with no issues, following both the official install guide and the beginners' guide.
After performing the complete upgrade step, I created a first user (david) with
the default configuration as shown in the guide, and added it to the wheel group.
As can be seen in the file /var/log/auth.log (http://pastebin.com/bkTLuJrz),
I logged in to the new user account shortly after its creation (13:19:33). This worked fine.
After logging off about two minutes later, and trying to log in once more, I found I was no
longer able to gain access. Every next try ended in an automatic logoff 2 or 3 seconds
after inserting the correct password, as can be seen starting from 13:29:41.
No message appeared in auth.log or on screen, and I have been unable to find any sort
of printed hints with a reason in other log files.
I have had no problems logging in as root, besides what seems a possibly similar situation
as seen at 13:30:36 (I don't remember, it could have been a quit test followed by a quick logoff via ctrl-D).

(they suggest the disk may be full), but that's not my case. Here is the result of "df -h":

I then tried alternatively adding these lines (only one per try) at the end of
the /etc/security/access.conf file.
+ : david : tty2
+ : (wheel) : LOCAL
I tried logging in to tty2 with the first one, naturally. No success in either case.
Then, I created a new user with the same default options as the first one, but I could never log in,
I was again being thrown out just after inserting the password.
I also tried changing the user passwords, and deleting the .bash* files in /home/david.
Putting a short message to show at login using echo in the last line of /home/david/.bashrc
(the default one created by Arch) succeeded in showing it just before the log off.
Entering to fallback mode made no difference, and trying to log in with only one (different)
account at a time doesn't change anything either. Same trying other tty terminals.
Just to be very clear, I haven't installed X nor sound support.
And just in case (although I suspect it's totally irrelevant for this issue), on boot I'm getting a
message saying my network settings are deprecated, and that I have to check rc.conf.
I don't know what else I could try. Any hints?
EDIT: I ran grep -E " 13:[12][0-9]" /var/log/* to see the lines of the logs, in the range of time
when things got weird, in case I could find any hint of time-correlated stuff:

If that works, what happens if you then try cd followed by ls -la ??

su david didn't work, I was sent back to root as if I had only typed the enter key.
However, when I wanted to do the same in an Ubuntu console in order to check something
for a comparison, I discovered something fascinating:
I can no longer log in using *any* console, using gnome-terminal or any tty in Ubuntu!
So I think I'll be back when I get this sorted in the first place, but I will be checking here
just in case someone has some cross-distribution general advice on this issue.

Just found another very helpful post from Ben Mordue with the solution:
* Quit the Creative Cloud Desktop app
* In terminal, type:
rm ~/Library/Application\ Support/Adobe/CoreSync/options.tix
When you relaunch the CC desktop app, and press the Start Syncing button, it should work.

and activate with your serial number.
if you have a problem starting the download, you didn't follow all 7 steps, or your browser does not accept cookies.
the most common problem is caused by failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).
failure to obtain that cookie results in an error page being displayed after clicking a link on prodesigntools.com or initiates the download of an incorrect (eg, current) version.

Photosmart B110a HP software won't install on windows 7 starter

I have a Photosmart B110a 3 year old wireless printer that is working on my home pc running windows 7 professional, but after buying a new notebook running windows 7 starter I can not install the HP software either from the install cd that came with the printer or by downloading the software from the HP website!
I have done a fresh install of windows 7 starter & have switched off antivirus & firewall but I still can't install HP software to install the printer.
(I was told I would have to pay £18 for technical support to get YOUR software to work my notebook, I don't see why I need to pay money for something that is clearly an issue with YOUR software?)
I don't have any problems installing any other software for any other software provider on my notebook either from the discs or by downloading, so the issue is isolated to just YOUR software!
When I try and left click on the setup exe logo when the disk spins up the cd window disappears and nothing happens, no software in installed! Tried copying the contents to my notebook and try to manually install but that does not work either!
Downloading the software from HP website results in the software unzipping/unpacking but then nothing happens, install window disappears! Yes I have switched off & even tried uninstalling my antivirus & firewall without any success! HELP!!!!!!

I unfortunatly bougth Blackberry Q5 last day, and just after buying it the power switch/buttom isnt working. Till now i wasn"t able too restart the device.
And just now with in 18 hours i got new error the camera can't be started.
Is this poor quality and OS being made by the Blackberry which doesnt satisfy the customer for the single day, and i just read one post under which a person having the same camera trouble and reply given to him was to re-install the complete OS WTF, we are here to buy the new smart phone or to keep its software updating due to your poor services and OS / hardware.
Totaly dis-satisfied isn't going to recomend phone to anyone.
I have done the fullish thing to buy Q5 instead of purchasing Android or I-phone available in the market.

Can you not take it back to your seller and get a replacement or switch?
