Inconsistency in best practice implementation guides

Hi gurus.
We are assisting a customer to install a Best Practice solution running Baseline Austrian 2.600 and IM&C 2.600.
My main issue is the requirements for the supportpackages differ.
This inconsistency are valid for all components, but exemplified here by the SAP_BASIS component.
The Baseline 2.600 Austriandemands the following support package :
http://help.sap.com/bp_blv1600/BL_Austria/documentation/BL_Quick_Guide_EN_AT.doc
SAP_BASIS     700     0010     SAPKB70010     SAP Basis Component
The Industry Solution IM&C 2.600 demands the following support package
http://help.sap.com/bp_bblibrary/600/Documentation/E00_BB_InstallGuide_EN_DE.doc
SAP_BASIS     700     0007     SAPKB70007     SAP Basis Component
Both installation guides contain similar statements that support packages must me on correct version, not higher and not lower, otherwise only limitied support can be given.
Anyone that have had any similare experience or anyone that can give me some pointers on what to do?
Regards
Fredrik

    Raju,
The best practices are all scenario based.

  • Best practice implementation. What are the steps for this?.

We had an upgrade from CRM 4 to 7 undertaken by some outfit (name deleted). After the upgrade was complete it would look as though the comapny carried on using the GUI interface rather than the WebUI interface, mainly because that's how CRM 4 worked. Now they would like to use the WebUI interface of CRM 7, as the GUI interface is no longer supported, but are receiving a number of errors when using certain features of teh WebUI. It would look as though a lot of config is missing, especially in the UI Framework area. I can only assume that whichever company performed the upgarde simply skipped this section when upgrading.
I assume that I could download the best practice install/upgrade (?) and then just execute the section regarding the UI Framework, if such a section exists. bearing in mind that there seems to be a lot of config missing in the UI Framework section, would you recommend the course of action that I have mentioned?.
Our WebUI Interaction centre is giving errors when we go in and I have been informed that I need to complete the config for:
Customer Relationship Management->UI Framework->UI Framework Definition->Maintain Runtime Framework Profile
But as I mentioned, there are lots of other sections in the UI Framework area that are empty and hence the suggestion I made above. Hopwever, I would specifically be interested to hear from anyone who can tell me what the entries are in the view table BSPWDV_RF_PROF_C and possibly the table BSPWDV_CTRL_REPL and BSPWDV_DEF_CC.
I know this only completes part of the config, but it might be enough so that the WebUI IC can be viewed.
On another subject, I have just come into this company and if I wanted to see what had been installed how do I go about that. for example, if I wanted to know if there had been an upgrade from 4 to 7 for a particular Industry solution, where do I check this?.
    Jason

I have been through the following steps:
    Entered this URL http://help.sap.com/bp/initial/index.htm
    Clicked on 'Cross-industry Packages'
    Clicked on 'CRM'
    Clicked on 'Englilsh'
Then the following page is displayed:
    http://help.sap.com/bp_crm70/CRM_DE/HTML/index.htm displayed
But now what?. How do I get the Best practice instructions for a CRM implemenation?.

  • Books, Best Practice, CM Guides

    Hi,
Can anybody point me towards a best practice, SCM Book or any other documentation that gives practical advice on how to set up and use SCM from a Config. Managers point of view - not a developers. The supplied documentation seems to be a bit thin on the ground in this respect.
I have experience of using other CM tools so I don't need an intro into general CM concepts - but do need something to help me relate this tool into the development lifecycle and release procedures.
I am also having problems finding documentation on the repository rules.
    Any help appreciated.
    Keith

    Keith,
I have searched high and low for books on this topic without success. As far as I know, none exists, so I took the Oracle University class Using Oracle Repository for Software Configuration Management. This is a great class taught by Laura Garza who is quite knowledgeable on the subject.
Although the class does not cover 9i SCM (it uses 6i instead), I found the concepts readily applicable to the SCM. This is a three day class.

  • Best Practice Implementation in landscape

    Hi,
We had requirement for implementing SAP BP in our landscape on ECC system. Do we require to install Bp's on all three systems (Dev, Qas, Prd). Or the configuration change request movement into QAS and Prod is sufficient with out implementing BP's there.
    Thankyou.
    Regards.

Look into using NWDI as your source code control (DTR) and transport/migration from dev through to production.  This also will handle the deployment to your dev system (check-in/activate).
For unit testing and debugging you should be running a local version (NWDW).  This way once the code is ready to be shared with the team, you check it in (makes it visible to other team members) and activate it (deploys it to development server).
We are currently using a separate server for WD applications rather than running them on the portal server.  However, this does not allow for the WD app to run in the new WD iView.  So it depends on what the WD app needs to do an have access to.  Of course there is always the Federated Portal Network as an option, but that is a whole other topic.
For JCo connections, WD uses a connection name and this connection can be set up to point to different locations depending on which server it is on.  So on the development server the JCo connection can point to the dev back-end and in prod point to the prod back-end.  The JCo connections are not migrated, but setup in each system.
I hope this helps.  There is a lot of documentation available for NWDI to get you started.  See:  http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/01/9c4940d1ba6913e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm

  • Question About CRM Best Practices Configuration Guide...

In the CRM Connectivity (C71) Configuration Guide, Sections 3.1.2.2.2 and 3.1.2.2.3, it mentions two clients, Cient 000 and the Application Client.  What are these two client?  I assumed Client 000 was my CRM client, but that sounds the same as what the application client should be.
    http://help.sap.com/bp_crmv340/CRM_DE/BBLibrary/Documentation/C71_BB_ConfigGuide_EN_US.doc

    Keith,
Client 000 is not the application client.
The client which is used in the middleware(e.g.CRM quality client - R/3 Quality client or CRM Production client-R/3 Production client)is the application client.
You have to do it once in client 000 and in your own created client which is used in the middleware connectivity.

  • Help in C14: E-Commerce Best Practices Configuration Guide!

    Hello,
I am using CRM 5.0 System and following [C14: E-Commerce Configuration guide|http://help.sap.com/bp_crmv340/CRM_DE/BBLibrary/Documentation/C14_BB_ConfigGuide_EN_US.doc] and stuck up at the following points:
    1. As per the step 4.1.4.2 XCM Configuration for User Administration, when i try to login in http://<host>:<port>/isauseradm/admin/xcm/init.do using my user id i get No Authorization error message, even after assigning the SAP_J2EE_ADMIN role to my user id. Do i need any other role to login into this URL? Anyhow, I continued this step by using J2EE_ADMIN user account and created a new configuration scenario called TEST_APP and also created and assigned a new JCo component with my back end CRM details and did a test which was also success.
    2. In step 4.1.4.5 Creating the Super User for the Customer, when i try to access the url http://<host>:<port>/isauseradm/useradmin/init.do?scenario.xcm=TEST_APP the url automatically redirects to https://<host>:<port>/isauseradm/user/secureSwitch.do and i get a browser message saying that The page cannot be displayed. Without this step i cannot move further. I even restarted CRM Server and still the result is the same.
Can anyone please explain why i am getting this "Page cannot be displayed" message instead of what's written in the configuration guide? And why couldn't i login using my user id even after assigning myself SAP_J2EE_ADMIN role?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Vasu

    Hi Vasu,
Please check the assigned authorization objects for the role SAP_J2EE_ADMIN using PFCG transaction. In the standard SAP doesn't add any authorizations to the role, so that you can't really use it to login to XCM applications.

  • Some issue in Best Practice Implementation

    Hi,
When i try to "Register Item for New system" in
System Administration --> System Configuration -->Universal Worklist & Workflow --> Universal WorkList - Administration,
i am getting the following error :
    Errors:
System SAPRETAIL: Mon Mar 09 12:25:43 IST 2009
    (Connector) :com.sap.netweaver.bc.uwl.connect.ConnectorException:Mon Mar 09 12:25:43 IST 2009
(Connector) :com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception:Issuer of SSO ticket is not authorized
Item type retrieval and registration requires a connection to the systems and may take a couple of minutes.  Please be patient.
For each system they are generated as the configuration named 'uwl.webflow.<systemalias>' or 'uwl.alert.<systemalias>'.
After configuration changes on the backend, the system has to be re-registered.
*Here SAPRETAIL is the system alias name.*
    Thanks in Advance

  • Best Practice of using ERM (Role Expert) in Landscape

    Hello,
Can anyone tell me what is the best practice (choice) of using ERM in the SAP landscape?
    1. Creating a role in DEV system using ERM and using SAP standard transport process to transport role to QAS and PRD systems.
    OR
    2. Creating a role in all systems in ladscape (DEV, QAS and PRD).
Please share if you have any best practice implementation scenarios.
    Appreciate for the help.
    Thanks
    Harry.

    Harry,
The best practice is to follow Option 1. You should never directly create a role in Prod system. This is what SAP recommends as well.

  • Favorite / Best Practice / Useful MTE's ??!?!

    Hi Everyone,
I'm setting up monitoring on a multi-system architecture; i've got all of the agents working and reporting to my CEN. I've even got the auto-response email all set up, great!
I've been looking around for any best practice on what MTE's (out of the 100's there!) I should be setting up virtual and rule based nodes for.
So come on everyone...what are your favorite MTE's. Of course I'm looking at Dialog Response Times, and Filesystem %'s -- but any other tips? hints? tricks? Any neat MTE's out there that you love to check.
A best practice / useful guide would be brilliant?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Best Practices for multiple authors using single project?

We are having many issues, particularly with moving, renaming, and multiple check out warnings.  We have a single project with many authors and it seems like RH is not designed to work that way. There is an article in the RH devnet-archive in an article entitled "Sharing RoboHelp Project Among Multiple Authors" that says"
"At first there may be the temptation to let every author work on every file in a project.  This is certainly not a best practice. Regardless of source contraol, it is always best to designate certain authors as owning certain content-related sections, folders, or topics within a project -particulary at the folder level."
This statement, and our experience seems to indicate that RH is not a true CMS as we had envisioned.  What are the best practices for this scenario to avoid stepping on each others toes and having problems with source control.

I have moved this to the source control forum for the gurus there to answer.
Meantime I must admit I read that statement the same way as you first time. However, on rereading I think what the author is saying is not that what you want cannot be done, rather it is best practice to guide authors to work in discrete areas.
I will leave it to the author or another guru to give you a more complete answer.
