Inconsistent Date Implementation in Apps (Yosemite)

After upgrading to Yosemite 10.10.2 from Mavericks (10.9.latest), I've noticed several inconsistencies in how dates are shown in various apps.
System Prefs Settings:
Short: dd/mm/yy
Medium: d/mon/yyyy
Long: d month yyyy
Full: Day, d month yyyy
Calendar:
When I double-click an event in Month view, the dates show up as d mon yyyy: i.e., 8 May 2015 — CORRECT
When I edit an event, however, the date shows up as mm/dd/yyyy, i.e., 05/08/2015 — INCORRECT
iTunes:
Music: Last played shows as dd/mm/yy — CORRECT
Podcasts: Release date shows as mm/dd/yyyy — INCORRECT
Podcasts: Last played shows as dd/mm/yy — CORRECT
I've checked, rechecked, and triple-checked System Prefs to be sure that dates are set the way I want — they seem to be.
Am I doing something wrong or missing something or is this a quirk (bug) in Yosemite?

Bug.

  • Best path for Core Data implementation

    Hi all,
    First post so pls go easy!
    I'm a seasoned Windows/Web App developer who has recently (3-4m) discovered Mac, Cocoa and Obj-C. I've been buried in Apple docs, Hillegass and Dalrymple books for some time now trying to get to the point where I'm ready to build the Cocoa project that I have in mind, which looks to be well suited to a Core Data based Application driven by SQLite. The data model is reasonably complex with around 10 inter-related entities which must retain data integrity.
    Anyway, onto the question... historically I would have built a class library to encapsulate the use of the data model and accessed that class library when events fired to do what needs to be done. The Cocoa solution appears to support this - presumably though creating my own framework that is then referenced by the Cocoa application. I can see though that there is another path where I skip the encapsulation and build a Core Data based Cocoa app directly.
    At a high level - is there a preference between the two approaches?
    The latter seems well documented/supported but I am synically thinking that is because it is more straightforward and clearly faster, are there other advantages such as performance.
    For background the app when running will follow similar form to Mail.app in terms of multi-view with some data tables and custom views in play.
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi K T - thanks.
    Bottom line I think is that encapsulation is a safety blanket that I probably need to let go of. CD ticks boxes on a theory level, subject to implementation not being too heavy it seems like the logical step. The only consideration was to encapsulate a framework built on the known methods, then move the framework to CD under the covers when ready - that seems a bit gutless though and almost definitely inefficient time wise. I guess that there is little point in encapsulating CD from the outset - feel like it just adds unnecessary work in addition to some degree of performance overhead?
    {quote}Are you looking for flexibility or performance, by the way?{quote}
    Performance - the data model is unlikely to change once bedded in beyond addition of properties etc very infrequently. The app is likely to need to handle many tens of thousands of rows of data (albeit small in terms of data volume per row) for some users, and my conclusion from the documentation was that SQLite is the most appropriate route if committing to CD where data volume and/or relationships are plentiful. Is that a fair assessment?
    {quote}Are you looking to mimic traditional application interfaces or to adopt trends that are currently unfolding?{quote}
    The app I plan to build desperately needs to be brought up to date - possibly even beyond the advanced UI that AppKit seems to offer by default IMO. That said I don't want to overcommit on the extent of the build, but I do want to turn heads without just slapping coverflow or similar in for the sake of it. If you have any references or examples for doable leading edge UI design on OSX they would be gratefully received.
    Thanks again for your help - really appreciate it.

  • Problems with java constructor: "inconsistent data types" in SQL query

    Hi,
    I tried to define a type "point3d" with some member functions, implemented in java, in my database. Therefor I implemented a class Point3dj.java as you can see it below and loaded it with "loadjava -user ... -resolve -verbose Point3dj.java" into the database.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    package spatial.objects;
    import java.sql.*;
    public class Point3dj implements java.sql.SQLData {
    public double x;
    public double y;
    public double z;
    public void readSQL(SQLInput in, String type)
    throws SQLException {
    x = in.readDouble();
    y = in.readDouble();
    z = in.readDouble();
    public void writeSQL(SQLOutput out)
    throws SQLException {
    out.writeDouble(x);
    out.writeDouble(y);
    out.writeDouble(z);
    public String getSQLTypeName() throws SQLException {
    return "Point3dj";
    public Point3dj(double x, double y, double z)
    this.x = x;
    this.y = y;
    this.z = z;
    public static Point3dj create(double x, double y, double z)
    return new Point3dj(x,y,z);
    public double getNumber()
         return Math.sqrt(this.x*this.x + this.y*this.y + this.z*this.z);
    public static double getStaticNumber(double px, double py, double pz)
         return Math.sqrt(px*px+py*py+pz*pz);
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Additionally, I created the corresponding type in SQL by
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE point3dj AS OBJECT EXTERNAL NAME
    'spatial.objects.Point3dj' LANGUAGE JAVA USING SQLDATA (
    x FLOAT EXTERNAL NAME 'x',
    y FLOAT EXTERNAL NAME 'y',
    z FLOAT EXTERNAL NAME 'z',
    MEMBER FUNCTION getNumber RETURN FLOAT
    EXTERNAL NAME 'getNumber() return double',
    STATIC FUNCTION getStaticNumber(xp FLOAT, yp FLOAT, zp FLOAT) RETURN FLOAT
    EXTERNAL NAME 'getStaticNumber(double, double, double) return double')
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    After that I tried some SQL commands:
    create table pointsj of point3dj;
    insert into pointsj values (point3dj(2,1,1));
    SELECT x, a.getnumber() FROM pointsj a;Now, the problem:
    Everything works fine, if I delete the constructor
    public Point3dj(double x, double y, double z)
    this.x = x;
    this.y = y;
    this.z = z;
    in the java class, or if I replace it with a constructor that has no input arguments.
    But with this few code lines in the java file, I get an error when executing the SQL command
    SELECT x, a.getnumber() FROM pointsj a;The Error is:
    "ORA-00932: inconsistent data types: an IN argument at position 1 that is an instance of an Oracle type convertible to an instance of a user defined Java class expected, an Oracle type that could not be converted to a java class received"
    I think, there are some problems with the input argument of the constructor, but why? I don't need the constructor in SQL, but it is used by a routine of another java class, so I can't just delete it.
    Can anybody help me? I would be very glad about that since I already tried a lot and also search in forums and so on, but wasn't successful up to new.
    Thanks!

    Dear Avi,
    This makes sense when it is a short code sample (and i think i've done that across various posts), but sometime this is too long to copy/paste, in these cases, i refer to the freely available code samples, as i did above on this forum; here is the quote.
    Look at examples of VARRAY and Nested TABLES of scalar types in the code samples of my book (chapter 8) http://books.elsevier.com/us//digitalpress/us/subindex.asp?maintarget=companions/defaultindividual.asp&isbn=9781555583293&country=United+States&srccode=&ref=&subcode=&head=&pdf=&basiccode=&txtSearch=&SearchField=&operator=&order=&community=digitalpress
    As you can see, i was not even asking people to buy the book, just telling them where to grab the code samples.
    I appreciate your input on this and as always, your contribution to the forum, Kuassi

  • Inconsistent Data Record

    One of my team members hit an error i.e Inconsistent data record
    We have already developed our model, and deployed in a Feb dataset, now when we come to an updated refreshed dataset i.e March, we hit an error where the data records are not consistent and hence the model cannot score.
    i am assuming that there may be a new attribute in the dataset which previously did not occur and hence is now not catered for in the model.
    Is this diagnosis the case. in such an instance how does ODM deal with it and what are our options as an implementation issue

    This is usually caused by a duplicate attribute for a single case/row.
    This can happen if the same case id is repeated during a build operation, or if you are working with nested data, the same nested attribute name repeats for a given case.
    The first thing to do is to verify that the caseid is unique.

  • While trying to open the order in co03 or co02, It is not opening and showing the error message as "Inconsistent data : order 107434 16.09.2013, duplicate entry o 0020. is showing ?

    Hi,
    While trying to open the order in co03, co02, I am getting the below error message : Inconsistent data : order 107434 16.09.2013, duplicate entry o 0020 is showing. Please guide me the way forward.
    Regards,
    Mastan.

    Hi Mastan
    The report mentioned by Rajen should clear the inconsistent records.
    Please observe that you could have found this by yourself report with a quick note search for this error message or even searching for old threads.
    Even a google search points to the solution.
    You should do your own research before opening such kind of thread.

  • I have ios 7 and lately when im turning off cellular data for some apps when i leave settings and go back in they have turned on back again by themselves. It appears as if i cant turn off cellular data for the apps i want. Any tips?

    I have ios 7 and lately when i go to settings-cellular and try to turn off cellular data for some apps it doesnt work. As i turn off cellular data for one app immideately after i exit settings and re-enter settings cellular data for that same app goes back on again by itself. That happens for most of my apps and is reqlly annoying. Whats more annoying is that when i am not using wifi even though the settings for cellular data for safari or facebook or some other app are turned on (since i cant turn them off as i mentioned) i get the message that cellular data is turned off for this app and i cant use the internet at all on cellular data. I have reset to factory settings and restored from backup and the problem persists. Is there some help or tips you can offer me?

    Did you get anywhere with this? I'm considering wiping it and setting it up as a new device.

    Tap  -  Settings/iTunes & App Store/Apple ID
    In the next window tap view Apple ID and enter password and click okay.
    You are now securly linked to your itunes account - tap Payment information and change the credit card details and then done/done.

  • I have just purchased a new ipad2 to replace my old ipad. How do i sync all the data in my apps I am worried about losing my data?

    I have just purchased a new ipad2 to replace my old ipad. How do i sync all the data in my apps I am worried about losing my data?

    iPad settings and data created and stored by a 3rd party party app along with app settings are included with the iPad's backup along with other data.
    If you are syncing your iPad direct with iTunes on your computer via USB, the iPad's backup is updated as the first step during the iTunes sync process.
    The first time you connect a new iPad or iOS device to iTunes that is used to sync with another iOS device, you are prompted to transfer the backup for the other iOS device to the new device. This is followed by a sync to transfer the same content from your computer that is on the old iPad to the new iPad such as music, movies, tv shows, 3rd party apps, photos, audio and print books, etc.

  • Won't sync calender with mobileme "inconsistent data error message"

    I have tried about everything that I can think of but can't seem to solve this problem.
    I have a new Macbook Pro and have been using mobileme and ical for some time now. I can't get my Macbook Pro to sync with mobileme ical. It does sync with the address book, but when it gets to the ical portion it tries and then reports "can't sync due to inconsistent data on this computer. Correct data and resync calender".
    I have no idea what the "inconsistent data" is. My computer gets its time from apple.com and the time/date is correct. What is the inconsistent data. My calender and schedule is a critical issue. Please help.

    Errors in syncing can happen for all sorts of reasons - loss of network connectivity, for instance - and it might be necessary to reset the synced data from a reliable source. It's not talking about deleting anything - unless you have data on your new computer that you need to retain.
    The document says that if you have this problem on your new machine, you probably need to overwrite that local data with data from MobileMe.
    Personally, I've never lost any data with dotmac or MobileMe, so my experience is it can be relied on. I do, however, keep backups of all my data as well.

    Does anyone know where I can get help on an error message ORABPEL-11947? I looked everywhere but no success.
    Can someone help me on this?
    Thanks in advance,

    You have to integrate apps with BPEL using apps adapter and then from BPEL pass the message to Oracle B2B 11g -
    Oracle B2B 11g <---> Oracle BPEL 11g <--- Oracle Apps Adapter --> Oracle Apps
    As BPEL and B2B both are part of SOA suite 11g hence there is no additional cost and performance remain better.
    Preffered mode of integration would be through XML gateway.
    I could see that 856 outbound EDI map is available from Oracle but not the XML gateway map. If i have to use XML gateway then how i can create the XML gateway map.You may raise your question in apps forum -
    http://forums.oracle.com/forums/category.jspa?categoryID=108
    If you don't get any help there, raise a case with support.

  • HT4623 When updating my iphone i lost all of my apps and the data on the apps. How do I get them back?

    When updating my iphone 4 for the first time I seem tohave lost all of my apps and the data on my apps. One of these apps was a camera and all of my photos are gone!! I had over 1000 pictures mostly of my children. I cant find them anywhere. Please help! How do i get all of my apps back with all of the data that was on them??  Thank you, LEC

    app store - update - purchased - all/not on this phone - select the app you want to download by clicking on the cloud next to it.

  • I recently restored my iPhone 4s from back-up after being reset. An app that I had turned off in back-up did not show up in my recent resoration. I forgot to turn that app back on. Would there be any way I would be able to get the data from that app?

    Hello anita4323.
    I hope this will help you with your problem:
    Back up and restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iCloud or iTunes - Apple Support
    You can restore your backup whenever you want from iTunes or iCloud, depending where you made it.
    Let us know if you succeeded or need any further help.
    I believe you are missing the point. The OP has already restored from back up, but failed to include a specific app in the back up and is trying to recover data for it, which in this case is not possible.

  • Inconsistent date formats between Rich Client and HTML client

    Hey All,
    Just wondering if anyone has come across an issue with inconsistent date formats from a universe based on an MS SSAS 2012 database connection in 4.x?
    The value of the date is returned as a string from the query but the object data type has been changed to a Date object meaning BusinessObjects should convert the string into a date if the format is correct.
    The problem in this is that the date being returned in Rich Client is in dd/MM/yyyy format whereas on the Web Client is in MM/dd/yyyy.
    From the Web Client business objects will return a date, however, it is a mix of MDY and DMY format.
    i.e. 15th of March will be displayed as 15/03/2014
    whereas 12th of March will be displayed as 03/12/2014
    All our application servers are configured for English (Australian) regional settings meaning all dates should be in DMY format.
    The date in the database is stored as a non-ambiguous yyyy-mm-dd format so it appears the variation is occurring somewhere between the database and BusinessObjects for the Web Client based reports only.
    I have also checked the sqlsrv.prm file based format and changed this to DMY but this has also not made a difference.
    The same universe in 3.1 and MS SSAS 2008 works correctly but not this one.

    Hi
    The date in the database is stored as yyyy-mm-dd format.
    As per user request.... Set the date format @ the Business layer level. so it will refelct same as in the WebI.
    Please find the below link. how to use custom Display option.

    I recently purchased an iPod touch for my classroom.  Can I use homesharing to transfer data from an app to my student's computers?

    No since you can only sync with one computer.
    To switch syncing computers:
    Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities
