Please, tell me where can i increase session timeout for bpm workspace (Oracle SOA Suite 11.1.1.4)?

Hopefully you can found the same in 11 also.

I am facing an issue where the BPM Workspace times out after every 5 mins or so.
I read in another post that we need to edit some workspace.properties file - where can I find it.

I got this resolved. Added a different variable for the weblogic.xml timeout and teh web.xml timeout (Btw the digits after the timeout props are not needed if you donot need too many variables).
Also My config root was pointing to the wrong war. I changed it to point to a correct .war (relative location can be used too) & it worked just fine after that !

You need to implement getColumnNames and getColumnDisplayName on your implementation of IBPMUICustomizations. If you only want it for a single user you would either need to hard code that user in there or look to an xml file or something to map users to columns.

Timeout querying LDAP groups from BPM Workspace Administration page

I already configured my server to use Active Directory instead the Weblogic embedded LDAP to users authentication in the BPM Workspace.
When I go to [Weblogic Console / Security Realms / myrealm / Users and Groups / Groups] the console shows correctly all the AD groups after a 20 secs aprox, but when I try to assign some group to a role using the BPM Workspace Administration menu, the app only show users in the search pop up, if I search usign "All" or "Groups" filter I always get this error:

Filter the participant list for reassign (or req info) in BPM Workspace

hi every one.
can anybody lead me if it is possible to filter the participant list for reassign (or req info) in BPM Workspace?
i do not want to participant see all the users and groups that i define in jazn file in WLS console.
in the other word, i want each role to see only special other roles or users.
what is the solution.

Unable to see the application in BPM Workspace for Sales Quote tutorial

I have created the Sales Quote tutorial steps and deployed the process. The Enter Quote Details user task is in the "SalesRep" role and I have assigned a user from WebLogic user store to "SalesRep" role in the BPM Organization artifact.
In order to kick off the process, I logged-in to BPM workspace with the user I have assigned as "SalesRep" role but don't find the Sales Quote application under the "Applications" tab.
I am using 11g PS4(11.1.1.5) and didn't seed the demo users, instead just created the user using WLS console.
Any thoughts why the user is unable to see the application in BPM Workspace?

Check two things:
1. Login to Workspace as weblogic and click the Administration link at the top to verify the role is actually set to a user (just to double check this).
2. Login to EM, click the SalesQuote composite, scroll down and click the EnterQuote human task component, and click the Administration tab.
This shows you if there is a task form URI associated with this human task. If not, the initiate link won't show up in the Applications menu in Workspace.
If not, you can either deploy again from JDeveloper, making sure you have selected the task forms in the deploy wizard and making sure the deployment is successful in the Deployments log window.

Cannot find deployed BPM application in bpm workspace with BPM 11.1.1.7.0

I created a bpm suite 11.1.1.7.0 servers with one admin server and one soa managed server. I deployed a BPMN application to it according to the "Building Your First Process with Oracle BPM 11g" tutorial (a little bit changes according to thread https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2355518). I deployed it successfully by jdeveloper. I can find the UI project and SOA composite in EM, and the human tasks have URI in administration tab. However, when I try to open the BPM worspace and try to find the application that are deployed, the list is empty and got ADFC error in manged server console. How can I fix this problem? In bpm suite 11.1.1.6.0, there is no such problem. Thanks

Hi!,
when that happend to me, I used to do the next steps:
In EM, go to FARM_SOA...>SOA>SOA-INFRA>Default, right clic on your proyect and uninstall it
Log in into your BPM workspace as your administrator> Administration, and erase all roles for that project and save.
Install your project from jdeveloper again.
Log in into your BPM workspace as your administrator> Administration, clic on your project.ProcesOwner Role, and add your user on the members below section
After adding thee user, clic SAVE
Do the same for all the roles of your project
This worked for me, remember to clic the save button after adding a member for the role

I guess you are getting this error in Linux Env and not Windows. Basically SOA/BPM opens lots of files (JARs and WARs) and I guess it do not close them properly. The root cause for your error is something else. Here is the fix. This should work.
Login into the linux machine with the root user privileges. Or ask the person who have root privileges to do this. Basically you have to increase the open file limits to much bigger number like 8192.
To change the open file limits, login as root and edit the /etc/security/limits.conf file. If the following lines are already there, just change the number to 8192. Otherwise add below 2 lines exactly. Means for all the users on this OS, the nofiles is set to 8192, instead of single user.
* hard nofile 8192
* soft nofile 8192
after this, make sure to RESTART the Linux box. Otherwise changes will not get reflected.
Login into unix box from any client and run this command and it should return 8192
ulimit -n
Then start the soa server and you should be all set. Let me know if this fixes your issue (I am hoping it should).

Exploded Directory path for BPM Worklist Applications

If anybody could tell me the location of Exploded Directory where all the existing worklist apps related jsfs are available it would be a great help for me to do some sort of Customization to the out of box Oracle 11g BPM worklist app.

1. Assuming you have a standard SOA/BPM Domain with one AdminServer and one SOA_SERVER1, here is the location where most of the modules are exploded and stored: /yourWeblogicSOAHome/user_projects/domains/yourSOABPMDomain1/servers/soa_server1/tmp. Under this tmp folder, you will see bunch of sub-folders and they have some more sub-folders. It is really tedious if you really want to cusotmize and modify files located at this location. I would strongly NOT recommend this. The files in tmp folders are not gauranteed. Afterall they are temporary file. And most of the times, when I restart my SOA SERVER, I always delete cache, tmp and logs folders. So you will loose all changes and you had to take back up of your changes and restore them.
2. If you really want customizations like increase timeout say for example, you should use weblogic console, deployments, that war/ear and modify and store the changes in custom plan.xml file.
3. If you really want to customize some jsff stuff, figure out which EAR/WAR is having that file. You can use general perception. Then directly go to the actual EAR and extract and get JAR/WAR. Then extract contenst of WAR and then modify jsff etc. Put jsff with same path back in war and put war back in EAR. Most of the soa modules are located at /yourWeblogicHome/Oracle_SOA1/soa/modules. The most important modules that has core files are like bpm-services which are at: /yourWeblogicHome/Oracle_SOA1/soa/modules/oracle.soa.workflow_11.1.1 and actual data controls/ui stuff in bpm-workflow-datacontrol.jar file in the same above module. ALWAYS take back up of original EAR/WAR/JAR before you extract and make changes.
4. Last option is you create your own Custom Worklist app which is not very simple (I would say), unless you want very basic minimum stuff.

Setting timeout for all the web test scripts in the solution

Hello,
I have around 16 web test scripts (using VSTS 2010 ultimate version) in my project (in a solution). By default the timeout set for each request is 60 sec. I need to increase the timeout to 180 sec. Currently, I am clicking on each request and modifying
the timeout parameter from the Properties window.
Is there any common setting for timeout available which would be acting across all the scripts?

We only can set Timeouts for a separate request in Visual Studio Web Test. There is no way to set Timeout for all requests in VS IDE. But you can write you own logic code using
Timeout Property in a web test plugin to set Timeout for all requests in a web test.

BPM Application Link does not appear in BPM Workspace (11.1.1.7)

I spent huge amount of time to reveal why does that happens.
All that follows further is valid for BPM Suite 11.1.1.7.
The scenario.
You developed a simple BPM process with Initiator pattern (maybe by following the "Quote Request" tutorial).
But the application link did not appear in BPM Workspace.
Here i'm skipping any kind of mistakes as "oh, incorrect swimlane", "oh, i did not include the user to the app role" and so on.
At first, you should know about the "feature" - You have to attach task form to the Initiator Human Task to see the App Link.
The simplest way to do that is to AutoGenerate task form (and deploy it, of course).
Else the Appication Link will not appear.
One exception to this rule - If your Task HAS NO PAYLOAD (no parameters) the Task Form is not required (to appearing of the Application Link).
The second find is a bug (is think so).
If you edited the Role that Attached to the swimlane of Initiator Task, you will not see the Application Link.
If you look to organization.xml you will see something like this:

            <ns5:name>StartTask.InitRole1</ns5:name>
            <ns1:processRole id="InitRole" name="InitRole1"/>
        </ns1:applicationRole>
The Application Link will appear ONLY IF THE "applicationRole id", "applicationRole name" and "processRole id" have the same value.
When you edit name of the application role in Organization Editor you change "applicationRole name" and "processRole name" values.
After that "applicationRole id" != "applicationRole name" and the Link does not appear.
How to fix?
Just edit organization.xml (with external editor) - change the "applicationRole name" to the value of "applicationRole id".
That allows to have value of "processRole name" something like "The Initiator Role" - that value appears in the BPMN diagram of process.
Also you can edit organization.xml with Organization Editor and set the Name to the value of "applicationRole id".
In that case the associated swimlane will have the same name as the "applicationRole id".

Flash Player is a browser add-on, not an executable program.
If you need to open a local SWF file you will need the standalone player (Projector) from http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
Note that the download is the player, not an installer, so you will need to make the file association manually.

BPM Process Creation Error While Viewing in BPM Workspaces

Hi,
I am working in creating workflows in BPM according the Organizational need. I just have started to do so. But, While i have create and deploy a simple Process in JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.0, the process is deployed successfully. When, I login into BPM/Workspaces User, Application which, i have developed earlier is shown there but when i open this application, there is nothing to display in Browser Only empty window is open. Can anybody provide useful suggestion to resolve this issue. I will waiting for your response. Thanks.
