Independent layer sets for each artboard

Currently the layer structure is the same over all artboards in a document. I would like to start a new artboard with layers independent of the existing ones. A layer set will depend on the kind of artwork you create on a particular artboard, and is meaningless when you start a new artboard. So I would suggest to start each artboard with its single default layer, and add new layers only for the artboard I'm currently working on.
Extra credit for the option to copy a layer structure from one artboard to another, though I'm not sure I'd use that much.

Great idea/suggestion. It seems so logical and straightforward I am bewildered that this feature is not yet included in Illustrator.

Hi,
I've just recently started learning Illustrator and have used photoshop for a long time. I have been getting on OK and yesterday had a file open with about 4 different artboards (was making wedding invitations) and went to start a 5th one and decided to add a new layer to this artboard and it then struck me that all the artboards had exactly the same layer! Now as a photoshop user this bamboozled me and the photoshop part of me gets annoyed, because I would like every artboard to have a different set of layers so that they are always separate. Can anyone tell me if I'm just not grasping how illustrator does things or is there a way to set up illustrator to have a new set of layers for every artboard? Is it just a case that I have to create a new layer for each artboard manually?
Sorry if this is a basic question, but I've searched for this answer but couldn't find it.

Oh and just in case, I'm using CS5 on an iMac.

You need to "turn off" the photoshop part of you when working in Illustrator. Two entirely different worlds, and rightly so.

If that's what you want, there are other programs in Illustrator's category which provide that. Corel Draw X3 is one example. In real use, though, page-specific layers is not the panacea you may think. It has resulted in much tedium and confusion and consternation in the Draw community.
If you insist on working that way, there's no reason you can't set up your file with top-level Layers coresponding to each Artborad. But you'll probably soon find it more cumbersome and tedious than actually practical.
Forget trying to think of Illustrator Layers and Photoshop Layers as similar things. They are not. Two entirely different constructs. That's a good thing. They should not be made to "work alike." If anything, Photoshop just needs to change the name from "Layers" to "Films" or "Overlays" or something like that, to help stop this widespread misconception among newcommers.

Repeat for each artboard problem

I have a script that make makes guides around the edge of the artboard. It works fine when you only have one artboard but has issues when there are more. Can anyone see what's wrong here?

you have hard coded "0", it needs to be changed to variables, otherwise it will point to the same x or y coordinates

Is there a DJ app for the Ipad that will read the "start" and "stop time" setting for each individual song, as they are set in the song Options screen in Itunes?

Is there a DJ app for the Ipad that will read the "start" and "stop time" setting for each individual song, as they are set in the song Options screen in Itunes? The Ipod Touch, by itself does not allow cross-fading, therefore when the stop time is edited short, the song jusst truncates then goes to the next song. I tried the DJay ap and while it would crossfade, it would NOT read the song settings for the stop marker. So now I want to try and Ipad and see if there is an app that will READ the Itune stop settings within the song. I do NOT want an app that will allow me to DO the stop marker. I want an app that will READ the stop marker from the song as it is set in Itunes.

Itunes provides the option for setting the Start and Stop times of each music track. However, the start and stop times do not synchronize to the iPhone. I don't understand why this option is even available as it doesn't work when listening to music on the phone. I have not found another application that will support the start and stop time markets. I have searched quite a bit for this but can't find anything. I hope we can find something.

When working with multiple artboards, are there separate layers panels for each artboard?

Just started working with multiple artboards in ai but have read nothing about the layers panel, whether you use one layers panel for all the artboards or if the layers panel is duplicated so there is one for each artboard.

I don't really understand your problem, but I've had headaches with managing a GUI before (as many programmers have, I'm sure).
My best advice, if the scheme your using to build and manage a GUI is too confusing for you, the programmer, to easily understand/manage, change the scheme. Even if this means recoding a good deal of your program (though, hopefully, you've kept the GUI as seperate from your functional code as possible) it should be worth it.
Perhaps a clearer explination of your problem would help better illustrate your problem?

I just bought a second Skype number and by the looks of it the only option is to forward them both to the same number. No way to set a different number for each?
No obvious way to contact Skype.

Interesting; I just answered the same question for another community member yesterday ... anyway, yes; you are correct. As both Skype Numbers are affiliated with the same account, call forwarding is for the incoming calls to the account. Another way to look at it is a Skype Number, or however many numbers someone purchases to add to their Skype account up to the maximum of ten (10) Skype Number subscriptions, provides more ways to access that particular Skype account.
The work-around is to create additional Skype accounts when you are in a situation as you describe where you need multiple Skype Numbers, but each needs to be forwarded to a different "other" number.
Good observation which I will forward to those to whom I report. More information needs to be published on this.

Independent delivery numbers for each Inventory Organization.

We have an EBS instance with multiorg. We have 3 companies, and each company has its set of books, operating unit and inventory organization.
Actually, the EBS is seeting up in a way that is giving a unique delivery number (for all operating units --> for all inventory organizations) from a unique sequence, when the user is making the picking release.
Actually, the spanish authorities has established that each company must have a unique sequence for the delivery number when we make the picking release.
My question is if is it possible to setup the EBS in a way where each company
have its own sequence for the delivery number, in order to have a separate
sequence number, not overlapped between them.

you can try creating a document category for table WSH_NEW_DELIVERIES, and then assign individual document sequence for each operating unit. See if this works.

Scripting a layer style for each layer to make a depth pass from focus stacking information.

I'm trying to generate a depth pass from rack focus. Basically where I've gotten to right now is importing the rack focus footage each frame from as an individual layer. Then running Auto Blend Layers and letting photoshop do it's magic to mask out each layer's out of focus information. This basically gives me a bunch of layers that tell me exactly where the camera's focus was at each frame in the shot. What I need to do now is Add a color overlay (maybe in the form of a layer style) that starts at 100% black and goes to 100% white stepping through each layer.
Right now I have this, which is so very far away.

The only focus stacking I have done is with macro photography. Below is a script that adds the layer effects but the results with my macro samples did not turn out looking good. Maybe you will have better luck with the type of photography you are doing.

Separate notification volume setting for each account

How to separately set volume for each and every account email, text, bbm, whats app, etc. This feature would be a welcome relief so that I can customise if I want certain account to be more louder than the other. Also being able to separately set volume or at least mute a particular group in what's app.

You should not be able to see each other's stuff.
Do you store things directly inside the Home folder or have you made folders directly inside the home folder? Because of the necessary permissions on the home folder to allow others to see the public folder and Sites folder, everyone can see inside the home folder. In those cases, spotlight would index those items.
If you want to keep using the folders and files where they sit, you can change the permissions on the folders using the Terminal:chmod 0700 and then drag the folder to the Terminal window. You can drag multiple folders. Files would need 0600 for the permissions.
Don't change the home folder permissions and don't use the Finder's "Apply to Enclosed." You will just cause a multitude of other problems.
If this is not the case, then we need to check the permissions on your home folder and it's subfolders. Run this command and copy/paste the results here.ls -leO ~/If you want to hide your username for whatever reason, feel free to change it before posting.

This isn't the common usage of the graph, and in fact each point on a
plot has the same color.
You might be able to do what you want, by adding a new plot for each
point. You can also modify one of the picture control graphing examples
to take in two arrays and it could change the color as it draws the plot.

Is there a way to automatically change tabs with different times set for each tab?

I found a few add-ons that will automatically change tabs based on a configurable time. But all the tabs use the same time setting. What I need is the ability to have tabs displayed for different amounts of time. Ex, Tab 1 for 30 seconds, Tab 2 for 10 seconds, Tab 3 and 4 for 5 seconds. Ideally, I will have the ability to modify these settings as the amount of tabs and the content will change a couple times a week.
Currently I'm using Tab Slideshow with each tab displayed for 15 seconds. But it sounds like Tab Rotate and Auto Toggle Tabs essentially do the same. If there is already a solution that would be great but if not is there someone available for hire to help modify one of the existing add-ons? Thank you in advance for your time.

How can we get Apple to do a better job on iCal? Now we can't even specify snooze times. Please give us the flexibility we need--minute, hour, day, week, month, year alerts that we can set for each event we add to our calendar.

I'm liking Mountain Lion a lot so far, except for the new iCal performance. iCal has never been as good as the MS Office calendar, not even as good looking much less flexible and, for me at least, a lot less intuitive. And that points to another big problem Apple's increasing totalitarianism has created: I would change back to the MS Office calendar in a micro-second if it weren't for the fact that Apple has never created a way for us to coordinate our iPhones with the Office calendar. My life with Apple goes back to the birth of the Mac and it at once gives me chuckles and fits of righteous indignation that for decades Apple criticized (and sued) Microsoft for its attempts to channel users of its products to other MS products by making 'third party' products not work well with MS software. There's a lot of truth to the idea that Apple is becoming a bully in its steady insistence on giving us fewer and fewer ways of putting together software and hardware sets that we think are the best for us. Whatever happened to Apple's free spirit!?!?!?!?
I can do all the whinging above because Apple has always built exceptional products and because even now its service performance is fifty times as good as any other company I do business with. If you doubt that, just try to get any kind of support from Microsoft.

How do i create an animation with one frame for each layer?

I have 76 sequential images that i've loaded as layers using bridge, then aligned using photoshop.
I would now like to create a 76 frame animation with one animation frame for each layer
(the layers are in sequential order).
is there an easy way to do this
or do i have to create 76 frames (can duplicate multiple to speed it up)
then set layer visibility for each frame?

Hello. Store the logo somewhere accessible, either in a library at the PWA site collection or on the project site, make a note of the URL to the site then navigate to the project site and depending on what logo you want to update you can click Site Actions
> Site Settings > title and description then update the image URL there. Alternatively, on the homepage of the project site add an image web part then reference the new logo using the URL. Paul
