Indesign CC + Intuos 5: Pen shortcut with hand grabber tool no longer working

Hi guys,
I have recently upgraded from CS6 to CC and there is a problem with my Intuos 5 pen shortcuts.
In my Intuos 5 preferences, I have assigned the 'pan / scroll' function to the button on the side of the Wacom pen. This is for all applications (so I hold the button down and can scroll up / down on any application). With Indesign CS6, this automatically translated into the hand grabber tool i.e. the button on the Wacom pen had the same function as the spacebar on the keyboard. I hold it down to activate the hand grabber tool, and release to let go of the hand grabber. Perfect, and very useful.
With Indesign CC however, this no longer works. Instead of activating the hand grabber tool, my Wacom pen button now performs a very slow and glitchy scroll (similar to using a mouse wheel). My cursor remains as the little black arrow (rather than turning into a hand) and the whole program slows down - sometimes it takes a good minute or so to finish scrolling down just a page or two. It's obviously not ideal, and seeing as this is probably my most used shortcut it is hindering my work flow quite considerably. Add to that the fact that the spacebar shortcut is undefinable in the keyboard shortcuts menu - so I cannot manually assign the spacebar shortcut to the Wacom pen button - I'm not sure what to do.
Is this a bug in CC? Is there a fix? Was it ever even intentional for CS6 to automatically replace wacom's 'pan / scroll' shortcut into the hand grabber tool? Anyone else experiencing similar problems?

You have mentioned two issues above.
The first is of the selection issue. I acknowledge that this issue is present in InDesign CC and is one that the InDesign team is investigating. It is already mentioned above that this issue is one that the ID team has been able to reproduce.
The other issue is
Another example of a CC-Bug: whenever you open InDesign, the menu-palettes (e.g. that for color-selection, text, paragraph...) are closed. So why the hell is that? If I want to change something I have to reopen the referring palette. There is no reason for this delay of the working process.
This is the issue for which i was trying to gain more information as to why you are facing this issue. I dont think this one line of information is enough to figure out why you are facing the problem. I tried this on my machine with the given information and it seems to work, upon restart of InDesign the palettes that were earlier open remain opened.
This is NOT a known issue and is one that i would like to gain more info about and it is with respect to this issue that i mentioned that you try cleaning the prefs and caches.

Problem with Hand move tool in CS2 ...

Hi,
I hope one of you here knows what to do about this as it's less conducive to my normal work-flow...
I have a Photoshop CS2 which I used to use on Windows XP and here it worked as supposed to. When I hit the spacebar the "hand move tool" appeared and I could move the images I was working with by left clicking my mouse and then move the image.
Now I've re-installed Photoshop on a new computer with Windows 7 (SP1) and now the "hand move tool" doesn't work anymore. The cursor shifts from the current cursor symbol to a hand but I can't move anything with it.
Given that it's worked before on Win XP I guess it's a compatibility issue of some kind - one of you knows what can be done?

You mention that your iPod nano is no longer recognized by iTunes after an update. Reinstalling iTunes is a good troubleshooting step, and if the device still doesn't appear in iTunes, try the following steps next:
Turn off your computer and your iOS device or iPod, then turn them on again.
Check to make sure that you've installed all required updates for your computer.
Verify that the 30-pin to USB cable or Lightning Connector to USB cable is free of debris and not damaged. If another cable is available, test with that cable instead.
USB cables that are bundled with third-party products or accessories might work only to charge those products and might not transmit data. Also, if you're using a third-party case or extended battery pack, try removing the case and connecting the Apple-supplied USB cable directly to your device.

How does one use keyboard shortcuts when the Text Tool is selected? For example, how do I switch to the Selection Tool when the Text Tool is active? I cannot press "V", as it simply types the letter "v" instead of switching to the Selection Tool.

My 'run with administrative privileges' script no longer works - help

Hey all. I have an applescript that shuts down the computer that I made a while back. I pulled it out today to use it and it no longer works. Here's part of the code I'm having trouble with:

"sudo shutdown -h now" password "myadminpassword" with administrator privileges
On old machines this worked great, I would just put the admin password where myadminpassword is and it would work perfectly. Now though, I run it on my machine and I get the prompt to enter my admin username and password before it will shutdown.
Now this is going on a remote install so I need it to work. Any ideas? The machine is running snow leopard, but it seems to still work on an old leopard macbook pro.

Well, for one, do not use sudo in do shell script.
The whole 'with administrator privileges' part takes care of elevating your privileges. sudo has no place in do shell script.
Don't know if that's your issue, but it's the first thing I'd fix.
If that doesn't help, are you running the script as your admin user?
Nowhere in your script are you defining the username to run the command as, therefore it will attempt to run as the current user who may not be the same as your admin user, nor have the same password. You might need to include the username:
do shell script "shutdown -h now" user name "admin" password "myadminpassword" with administrator privileges

Sharing photos to iCloud with Aper 3.6 no longer works

Hello:
It appears that the option to share photos to iCloud from within Aperture no longer works (option is there but is greyed out). I think this occurred sometime during the recent update cycles to Yosemite and IOS but I haven't used it for some time so I'm not sure. All I'm doing is selecting my photo and hitting share->iCloud which has worked well in the past. I can see a fair amount of chatter about this and/or similar issues but I haven't been able to discern if anyone has come up with a solution.
Any help / comments appreciated

You've probably been thinking of iCloud Photo Library (Beta) , see: iCloud Photo Library beta FAQ - Apple Support . That is a real killer .
iTunes Photo Sync will no longer upload photos to iOS 8 devices - iTunes will just show a prompt, that photos can now be uploaded using iCloud.
My Photo Steam will no longer upload to iOS devices from the Macs. That is, what many users have reported, but I do not know any Apple Support document that confirms it.
On iOS 8 devices is the Camera Roll no longer visible.
The only ways I know to upload from the Mac to iOS devices with iCloud Photo Library (Beta) active, is Mail, Dropbox, or https://www.icloud.com/#photos.

My spacebar/hand panning tool has stopped working Ai CS5

I'm working on a university lab computer that has CS5 on it. I don't think I pressed any random hand commands to disable the spacebar panning tool, but it has stopped working and it's getting really annoying. Anyone else ever have similar problems and how did you fix it??

I have this problem across the suite -- in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Strangely, the problem turned out to be some kind of conflict with the Chrome browser. When I quite Chrome, the spacebar starts working properly again.
I've seen people saying that the same thing has happened with Firefox, so it might be a more general bug with the system accessing the web while Adobe apps are running. It seems to happen in particular when I am using Gmail or any site that uses a lot of AJAX (Twitter seems to trigger it as well) and is constantly refreshing in the background, but that may just be a coincidence.

I agree with Sean in avoiding 'updateStage' and updating much of your syntax.
I started writing some exampels of syntax and loop improvments and ended up going through almost your entire script..Here goes
on mouseDown
    set me = the castNum of sprite (the clickOn)
could be replaced with

You can remove all the 'set' words, like the above and:

There are 2 if.. then conditions in the repeat while the stillDown loop that look wrong:

Taking the approach of having multiple events in 1 script and having variables shared in each, it would be best to make thise variables property variables, declaring them as such at teh top of the script.
Then for the 'clean up and close out' code, yu could put that into an on MouseUp event.
In Lingo 1 is TRUE, 0 is FALSE. Since, you're using 0 when setting the visible property, I'd say use 1 instead of TRUE.

if the computer your music library is synct with is broken how do y transfer your music on your iphone to a new itunes on a new computer

1. Disable automatic syncing on connection: iTunes Prefs > Devices > Disable....
2. Connect phone.
3. Right-click the device tab on left border of iTunes window and select "Transfer Purchases." This will transfer all iTunes store purchased music, media and apps to the iTunes library on the computer.
It won't transfer non-iTunes store music/media (i.e. CD's you ripped yourself) and these will get deleted from the phone when you sync. There are 3rd party apps for your computer which may be able to backup non-iTunes media on your phone. Google.

Airplay with Sony RDp-AX900 no longer working

Running off a Standard MAc 21".. 2011 model ... just upgraded the box to Mavericks
Trying to use spotify or Itunes and just want output to go the the external Sony airplay speaker..
Works fine to Apple TV sitting next to it - it sees the Sony but when you select it it just pops back to the Internal Speaker Option ... Thoughts? All working before the Upgrade...
Ended up connecting via BT to the Sony but thats just a fudge really...

Yes I did all the easy stuff first. I even re-installed Mavericks incase a special file was missing. I've totally reset my AirPort Express several times. It's what's transmitting my WiFi and it's super close to my iMac.
It's deffinitely a problem with my iMac seeing as it's not working with both my AirPort Express and Apple TV, also can't access Shared movies on my iPad via Home Sharing so yeah... definitely my iMac. All those other things communicate to eachother just fine.

I have a 3GS, it was jailbroken for me, but not only that, it was running on Ipad software. I was told the reason was at the time there werent any hacks for the 3GS software due to the 4 being out and the ipad as well. phone ran well no issues.
the problem:
finally have a computer, a iMac to be exact... Ive been syncing without problems. Today, I updated my iPhone. I was told not to. but forgot since I had the phone "worked on" last year, and really wasnt thinking.
the phone was restored to factory settings, I can get as far as the wi-fi set up. But I can not activate the cellular part of the phone. On iTunes, its saying there isnt a sim card installed. I took it out and reinstalled. still nothing. please help. thank you

Javascript with window.location.href no longer working in Content Editor in Sharepoint 2010 where users have IE8

I have recently found that when using a Sharepoint 2010 Content Editor web part to house some Javascript that the window.location.href (or window.location) is not working when the end users have IE8 installed on their PC's. We have confirmed
that the window.location.href is working if the users are on IE7 or Google Chrome with the same Javascript. In addition, we added alert() to the javascript to ensure that it was infact running, which the alerts appeared on the screen with no issues.
The result that I am receiving in IE8 is that when the window.location.href is set to the url that the user should be directed to, it simply refreshes the current page and leaves the user where they originally were.
I have seen the posts to have my site setup as a Trusted Site, but this is not an option for our company as they defined all internal Sharepoint sites as trusted already. Besides this, having all users go into their Internet Options is not really a
solution but a means to annoy your users.
What I am looking for is a permanent solution that I can make within my javascript that will work for both IE7 and IE8 users within a Sharepoint 2010 environment. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

According to your post, my understanding is that the window.location.href not worked in IE 8.
I think the issue
is likely due to the value of your variables. If they contain special or invalid characters, those needs to be passed through
encodeURIComponent before being assigned to window.location.href.

Problem with keyboard - several keys no longer working

In the last few days my Macbook running OX X 10.5.6 stopped allowing me to switch applications via Cmd-tab (now jumps to the toolbar highlighting the first button) and switching between windows within the same application - Cmd-` does nothing now.
Also, none of the F key responds to the associated tasks.
I've checked the following
* Rebooted machine - reseated the keyboard USB into different USB port
* Screen Shared from my Macbook and tried same key combo (making sure keyboard not at fault) - same response
* Keyboard & Mouse -> Keyboard - "Use All F1, F2 etc keys as standard function keys" is un-ticked
* Keyboard & Mouse -> Keyboard Shortcuts - Clicked on "Restore Defaults"
* Universal Access -> Keyboard - Sticky Keys OFF, "Enable access for assistive devices" is un-ticked
Still the problem remains. Any help will be gratefully received.

Thanks a lot for helping. I did a software update and plugged the keyboard in a different USB port. After restarting, everything was working again! Not sure which of the actions fixed the problem, but I'm relieved.
