InDesign CS 5 Textfeld-"Problem"

Hallo liebe Community,

  • InDesign CS6 interactive pdf problem

Hi, I've created an interactive pdf using InDesign CS6; document contains text fields and radio buttons. When exported the radio buttons flicker when you hover over them or click to make a selelction. Does anyone know how to prevent this? Many thanks

I have a hunch it could be an Acrobat/Reader limitation.
Set up a part of the form without the radio buttons but just use circles. Export a PDF and open in Acrobat. Use Acrobat's Form Field Recognition to turn the circles into radio buttons (or use Acrobat's form feature to create radio buttons with the same value).
    I doubt it's InDesign that's the problem.

  • InDesign CS3 Swatch Palette Problem

    Hi,
I have an issue in InDesign where the "Pantone Solid Coated" library is covering any other colour book I am trying to work with, including CMYK etc. Also I have to change a colour from Process to Spot and then back to Process again to be able to name it. I havd to re-install the Creative Suite on a different computer to the one I used before, and that's when this started. I am using CS3 Design Standard on an Intel Mac 10.4.11
If anyone has a solution, please do let me know as i have to use the programs more than 8 hours a day!
    See attached screenshot below.
    Thanks!!

    Hi Peter,
I did, but when I put them back I had the same swatch problem again, so will
have to re-save the settings I'm afraid.
    Thanks!
Make copies of the files listed inthe link and store them in a safe place.
Next time you can just copy the backups into the real locations and you won't
    need to rebuild anything.

  • InDesign Export to PDF Problem

I have InDesign CS4, and today I am having a problem with exporting PDF files. I was using Gill Sans font, and when I exported the file, some of the text turned into little whit boxes. I have no idea why this is happening. Any suggestions? It was just working correctly yesterday.

So I tried exporting a new PDF test document with a new font, Helvetica Neue and none of the fonts exported correctly in the PDF. Does anyone have any suggestions or a way I could contact Adobe for customer support?
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Indesign twice and nothing is fixing this problem.

  • InDesign interactive pdf hyperlink problem

Hi, I've set up an InDesign document to have Hyperlinks to other pages which is fine and separate pdf's where the problem lies. They're all in one folder, all a certain shortish length, not overly high in memory, numbering around 35 so far, will work fine for a while then want to connect to the internet with the Windows Internet Explorer warning box saying: Cannot find xxxx%5xxxx%20xxx%20... Make sure the path or Internet address is correct.
I'm working from the company server on a PC in InDesign CS6 CC, exporting as an interactive pdf including hyperlinks. Any ideas please?
    Thank you, Emma

Thanks Sumit but the Hyperlink list does not have %20 in, only when you hover over or get warning.

  • Illustrator vs InDesign vs Rip software problems

I have had this type of conflict for some time now.
    Maybe since CS3.
It has occured in 2 ways...
    But both stemming from InDesign.
If you create a drop shadow in InDesign (I'm not sure what method or the exact details)
Then export the file, PDF or .AI
and re-open it in Illustrator, it still seems fine.
But when you send the file to a RIP software, all shadows are converted to black boxes.
I do not remember the original rip software this has happened on.
But it happened again, late last year at my current job.
    On a different rip software.
The only way around it was to turn the file into 1 big .jpg.
2nd situation is where my question / problem is.
    I have a multi-pieced image designed in Indesign 5.5
    Converted to .pdf
    re-opened in Illustrator CS4.
The background has a repeating vector pattern.
In front is a hexagon shaped, 1 color vector image with white text on top.
In front of that, overlapping by some, is a transparent background image.
    probably a .psd
    Looks perfectly fine.
Until you send it to the RIP software.
The area where the .psd overlaps the vector image drops out completely.
    Like some overprint setting.
Is there some Illustrator overprint setting im missing here?
Or is this yet another InDesign / Rip conflict?

This is called the "yucky discolored box syndrome" and also appears as the "dreaded white box syndrome". http://indesignsecrets.com/eliminating-ydb-yucky-discolored-box-syndrome.php
@Silkrooster: Text should be put on top of all other stuff where it won't be affected by transparency flattening. Unless it shouldn't be deliberately layered by other stuff (like sometimes graphical headlines), of course. But that applies no matter what RIP you are using.

  • Indesign CS6 tool selection problem

I can't select tools within indesign CS6 on my Macbook pro retina, running windows 7 via bootcamp. I have tried deleting preferences which had no effect. Any ideas?

Thank you Peter, that was the problem, everything is working perfectly now.

  • Indesign CS 5.5 problems with accessibility features

I am required to create 508 accessible documents for the government agency I work for. The new features in Indesign allow you to export your document to an accessible pdf using the articles panel, export paragraph styles to tags and object tagging.  My question is this. It all works fine. The tags are great, it passes the accessibility check but you would expect the order panel to match the tags order and it does not. In the training on Adobe tv http://tv.adobe.com/watch/accessibility-adobe/part-2-exporting-and-finalizing-your-pdf/ they never even look at the order panel. I always have to reoder the tags in the order panel. will Adobe be addressing this issue?

I've also posted the same problem in another thread. No matter if I use the Structure Pane or the Articles Pane within InDesign, once I open the file in Acrobat, the reading order still is incorrect. I found this solution (below) from another User, tested it, and it works. I really have an issue with the pdf "passing" the Accessibility test when the file is not Section 508 compliant.
In Indesign, reorder ALL the objects on page using send to back, starting with the last object on page you wish read, continuing until the object you want read first in acrobat is sent to the back last in InDesign. The result is that the Reading order is correct in Acrobat. Obviously, any object additions to a page means re-ordering the whole page. Changing copy doesn't affect this. Also, the order of objects on a page has no relationship to the page structure. It appears that the object reading order is as objects are added to page. Ist added (and furthest back), 1st read, last added (nearest front), last read. Shuffling the objects in the Document Structure pane has no effect on this order (and vice-versa).

  • InDesign CS2 High Quality Problem

When using CS2 inDesign the documents changed to High Quality don't stay that way.  While the file is open, the document will revert to a lesser quality and remain that way even when file is closed, re-opened and high quality is selected again.  I am familar with the file opening in a lesser quality and then changed back to high quality for viewing, this is not the problem.  Thank you

You might be inadvertently hitting the keyboard shortcut to change display settings.
It's usually a system problem otherwise. You could try letting windows manage your Virtual Memory and Paging Files. Take screen shots before you change any settings, in case you need to change it back.

  • InDesign CS4 quotation marks problems in epub

I use InDesign CS4 to create epub files.  Occassionally I will have what I guess you would call a translation error from the InDesign file to the epub file.  Quotation marks and apostrophe marks do not translate at all.  It doesn't happen with every file.  If I combine the bad export file with another file the quotation marks will be just fine.  I have even tried inserting a special character from the Type menu and it does the same thing.
    Example:
How it shows in the InDesign file -
    You’re a fool, Grey.
"Miss Steele. What a pleasant surprise."
How it shows up in the epub file:
    You’re a fool, Grey.
“Miss Steele. What a pleasant surprise.”
Does anyone have any suggestions to keep this from happening?

My suggestion is to upgrade to CS5.5. The epub capabilities are light years ahead of CS4.
That said, where are you seeing the problem? ADE? iPad? Kindle?

  • Challenging inDesign Crash Issue  - attn Problem Solvers!

Hello... been struggling with this for weeks....  And before I begin, I know you should not open and work with InDesign files across a network... AND I have no solution to change our workflow, and the following set up has been working for months without problem.  A lot of this info is about networking, but the questions at the end are about InDesign and how it relates to networks.... so please bear with the long post.... just trying to get the whole thing described up front.... anyway, here it is....
    Network
QNAP NAS 269L drive - Switch - Cisco 325 Router
6 Windows 7 PCs  - Cisco Router (all hardwired)
1 Windows Laptop - Netgear Wireless Access Point - Cisco Router
    Software
InDesign CS4, each freshly installed from the original disks and registered with Adobe.
Photoshop (Ancient) used lightly for batch converting photos and light photo editing.
    Workflow
Most days only 2-3 computers access the drive and use InDesign, but one day per week, we have all six computers copying, editing, pdfing and saving InDesign files at one time.  MOST errors have occurred during this heavy use time, but they have sometime occurred earlier in the week with only 2 or 3 computers working at a time.  All employees access, work with and save the files on the drive and do not make a local copy first.  As mentioned above, this procedure has worked for YEARS and with this particular set up for Months without problem.
    The Errors:
The exact error and extremely varied.... meaning it does not throw the same code every time.  It will normally shut down InDesign when we try to copy, cut or page a page onto another document.  In a weird turn of events, sometimes a document will crash, and then the back up will not open either, as though some basic element has failed.  Other times the backup opens and can be recovered.  Sometimes it shuts down the program and you can still open the file and it will be fine.  A couple times we've been able to isolate a bad jpg (sometimes the error is about a jpg) and once removed the file can be worked with.  Very little about this is consistent... other than it's only with InDesign and mainly during our short period of heavy use in the drive.
What I've done thus far:  Replaced both drives in the Qnap NAS, as the originals were on their 'not recommended list', and upgraded to current firmware.  Reinstalled fresh copies of InDesign CS4 in all computers.  Reinstalled fresh copies of Photoshop in all computers.  Checked cables for loose connections.  Hard reset the Cisco Router while maintaining my settings.  Restarts on everything in the system, of course.  Checked for error logs on my Cisco Router and the Qnap admin.  Nothing showed on the QNap... however.... the Cisco Router does show nearly countless error like this:
    Connection Refused - Policy violation
    IN=eth0 OUT=eth1 SRC=192.168.1.131 DST=89.105.216.135 DMAC=e4:c7:22:ce:01:54 SMAC=00:0e:04:14:56:33 LEN=40 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=127 ID=7895 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=56289 DPT=80 WINDOW=16392 RES=0x00 ACK FIN URGP=0
... which I've researched and seem harmless enough, and have to do with our computers trying to send something to outside computers and that transfer being blocked.  These are almost continuous, and do not correlate to the timing of my InDesign Errors....
SO......   Any ideas on the culprit in the system?  How does InDesign react to a failing Network Drive?  Are these problems what you would expect of a failing drive unit?   Router?   Switch?  Bad Cable?  Or something else?  I know some will say quit working across the network.... but why did it work fine for the last several years and start failing a month ago, with the exact same workload as before?  Any help appreciated!
    Mike

Not many reports of troble related to Bitstream Font Navigator, but it wouldn't hurt to disable it temporarily to see if it makes a difference.
You should also create a new user account as a test and try running ID in that.
I can look at the file tomorrow -- I'm about to quit for tonight. Click my name to go to my profile and you can send me a link using a Private Message.

  • Export ePUB from inDesign CS6 - polish fonts problem

I have to make ePUB with polish fonts.
I create a simple one page document in inDesign CS6 and export it to ePUB. All fonts are embedded.
When I check it in Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) there is problem with polish fonts (ż, ł). ADE doesn't read it correctly. Other readers do it in right way.
Is it a problem with inDesign or ADE?

The ADE provides a preview, and nothing more than that. Actual viewers have other, more, or less capabilities -- some don't support embedded fonts, others do but with limitations, etc.
    ComrelPL wrote:
.. that's why bookstores need ePUB to be compatibile with this ADE.
E-Pub is still in its infancy. There is no general "e-pub" standard that *all* viewers are compatible with, other than the very lowest common denominator (which may very well mean "plain text").

  • InDesign/Creative Suite Installation Problem

I just installed Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 to a new iMac, using the Adobe chat to assist. Both Photoshop and Illustrator open without any problems. But InDesign will not open. I did use the Mac Migration Assistant progrtam to move everything from my old iMac to a new iMac, which in hindsight I"m not sure I should have done. Any ideas on how I can get this resolved?

never migrate adobe products.  they should be properly installed.  http://prodesigntools.com/move-adobe-cs5-between-computers-or-windows-to-mac.html
undo everything you can, clean your computer and then properly install your software per http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

  • Copying text from InDesign to Word: formatting problems

    Hi all,
I have copied a large amount of text from an InDesign CS4 document into Word. I am now having formatting problems. The main problem is that where long words run over two lines, they are not appearing as hyphenated, and I am not able to stop them running over two lines. Inserting the cursor at the start of the second part of such a word and deleting simply deletes the preceding letter on the line above, as if there were no line break.
    Any help much appreciated.
    Jon Cope

Instead of Copy/Paste, try selecting the text and exporting to .rtf (or if you have an active cursor, but no selection, theentire story will be exported). Open the .rtf in Word.
