Indesign Script Opening Flex App / Tab Handling

Hi,
I am working on a  FlashBuilder 4 application that is opened from, and interacts with, an  Indesign CS4 .jsx script. I have added a TitleWindow that  provides for login processing (there is a backend database) to the Flex application. The login  window is opened from the method that is registered as the  initialization method for the Flex application. The flow works nicely.  The application, with its presentation of a TabNavigator holding the  core panels, visually appears then the login TitleWindow opens modally.  The id / password is entered, then the web service is called that  handles verifying login. The event handlers that receive the callback  from this then populate the controls on the application if the user is  verified.
The problem I am having is with tabbing on the  TitleWindow. No matter what I do (tabEnabled / tabIndex settings, etc.) within Flex,  the TitleWindow will not receive tab presses and react to them. Tabbing  seems to cycle through the Indesign application in the background.
From a  ScriptUI perspective the Flex application is opened as a Window (I've  tried Palette with similar results. I need it to be non-modal). Not only does the first tabbable  field not get focus, even when explicitly coded to do so, if you try to  tab off of it, which doesn't work, then click on the  second field on the TitleWindow to force focus, the first keystroke you type into the text field is ignored.
If  I test the application from FlashBuilder directly, without being invoked  as a ScriptUI Window / FlashPlayer, the first field gets focus, tabbing  works, etc.
Can anyone tell me how to make the login window behave such that I can set focus on field 1 and have it respond to tab  presses to cycle to the second field? Is there something I should do in the FlashBuilder application's invocation within the .jsx?
Here are the operative lines from the script:
var res =
"window {        \
    fp: FlashPlayer { preferredSize: [1100,650], minimumSize:[800,450], maximumSize:[1200, 850] },    \
var importFlashWindow = new Window (res,"Import Stories", undefined, {resizeable:true, independent:true});
importFlashWindow.onShow = function(){
    var movieToPlay = new File (mySWFFile);
    try {
        //This function must be declared before the swf file is loaded as the flex panel calls it
        //from its init method.
        this.fp.getBaseUrl = getBaseUrl;
        this.fp.loadMovie(mySWFFile);
        //etc.
I have posted the same basic question in the Flex / FlashBuilder forum with no response. I'm hoping someone here might know what I need to do to get the FlashBuilder application to receive the tab presses instead of the Indesign application behind it.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
David

Hi All
I'm doing somthing similar.
I have many textArea in my SWF file and I can't copy and paste text in it using shortcuts.
If I paste contents using the Indesign menu commend, all works fine.
Someone can help me?

  • I copied this from your 5.0 download information: "All of the App Tabs you have set when you close Firefox will open as App Tabs when you start Firefox again." When I opened my computer today all my apptabs from yesterday had disappeared. Why?

    Your download page for 5.0 stated: All of the App Tabs you have set when you close Firefox will open as App Tabs when you start Firefox again.
    I liked the convenience of using App Tabs and was disappointed to find that the ones I had set up yesterday were gone today. Am I doing something wrong?

    Works fine for me, I can simulate your problem by improperly closing Firefox.
    The correct way would be to close the windows you don't want and then to exit Firefox through the File ("'''Alt+F'''") menu then use '''Exit''' or '''Qui'''t depending on your system.
    But '''I can simulate your problem''' by closing the good window with "X" in the upper right-corner first (the one with the app-tabs) and then close the other window by any means.
    You restart Firefox and open a window, since you closed without app-tabs there are none so you just see a window with your home page.
    Firefox has some things added to Firefox 4 and therefore in Firefox 5.
    # "'''Alt+S'''" (Hi'''s'''tory menu)
    # "'''Restore Previous Session'''" (that's the window without the app-tabs, but you have to this first)
    # "'''Restore Recently Closed Windows'''" -- can choose which window to reopen based on name and the mouse-over tells how many tabs. or you just use "'''Restore All Windows'''" without the guessing.
    ''I know you are on a Mac, and this affects Windows user more than anybody else, but it does affect other systems besides Windows, occasionally, perhaps more often now with the plugins container.''
    The following may not completely eliminate having to terminate Firefox through the Windows Control Panel but it will come very close.
    '''Plug-in and tasks started by Firefox may continue after attempting
    to close Firefox''' The "X" in the upper right-hand corner closes the
    Window (same as Ctrl+Shift+W) but even if it is the last Firefox window,
    it does not necessarily close Firefox .
    The only '''proper way to exit Firefox''' is to use '''Exit''' through the
    File menu, not the "X" in the upper right corner of last Firefox window.
    In the Firefox 4 and 5 that would be Alt+F then X

    Use the '''Windows Task Manger''' to remove all running firefox.exe in the "'''Processes'''" tab of the Windows Task Manager, then restart Firefox.
    If Firefox will still not start, remove the parent.lock file from the profile which is created each time Firefox is started to prevent other Firefox tasks from running, see<br>

    :Use to close and restart Firefox after enabling or disabling an extension, switching to a new theme, or modifying configuration files, then you don't have to worry about delay or have to look in the Task Manager to see if Firefox is closed yet.
    Both extensions use the same keyboard shortcut "'''Ctrl+Alt+R'''" or a file menu option.

  • Can I set my home pages to open as App Tabs?

    I always have a set of my favorite, every day sites as App Tabs, which are also my home pages. I usually let Firefox just restore my previous session, but sometimes I just need a clean restart - just my App Tabs/home pages. But clicking Home opens these tabs as regular tabs. Can I set them to open as App Tabs instead?

    No, you can't do that easily. If you click the Home page button then you always get normal tabs.

  • All of the App Tabs you have set when you close Firefox will open as App Tabs when you start Firefox again. This is not working, windows XP system. Bug or fix?

    Just installed v5 of Firefox over v4.1 to XP system, 2Gb memory. Reinstalled 2Java updates, Silverlight and adobe reader as recommended in post firefox installation window. Rebooted and tried to make the new AppTabs work to no avail.
    I"m not sure what else you need. The new AppTabs are not working. When Firefox is closed, AppTabs do not reappear when it is reopened later. They were installed by right-click on open tab as instructed on your upgrade website. Tabs were for yMail, gMail, and iGoogle. I have not tried to pin any other apps or sites. Is there anything I can do to make this work, or is this a bug? Thanks for the assist. mikeS

    Are you clearing your recent history when you close Firefox?
    Firefox stores App Tabs and tab group details in the same file that stores details of browsing sessions. Make sure that you have not set Firefox to delete browsing history. For details of the setting to check see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Clear+Recent+History

  • All of the App Tabs I have set when I quite Firefox did not open as App Tabs when you start Firefox again, why?

    All the App Tabs disappeared when I opened Firefox after quitting. I understand that the App Tabs that I had set remains there if I close the browser and not quit. So does that mean that I have to create App Tabs every time I restart FireFox?

    Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Browsing History" if Firefox is closed because that prevails and prevents Firefox from opening tabs from the previous session.
    If you use CCleaner then make sure that Session is unchecked in the settings for the Firefox application.

  • I want to have tabs open as app tabs on startup

    I have a couple of tabs that I always use, so I pin them as app tabs. The problem is that I want to save them as my home page, but as app tabs, not regular tabs. If I open the tabs I want for my home page and press "use current pages" as home page, they open as regular tabs. Is there any way to manually specify which tabs should be app tabs and which should be regular tabs in preferences?

    Yeah, I noticed that the tabs are restored as app tabs, but doesn't that mean that there should be a way to have them as your home page as well? Showing your windows and tabs from last time isn't really the same thing. Should I file a feature request or something?

    Hello Rhaixxa,
    Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
    It sounds like after the iTunes update, your application quits unexpectedly when you click the Apps tab in iTunes.
    I think it would be a good idea to recreate your iTunes library.

  • My app tabs fail to open when i reopen the browser. why?

    After installing 4.0 yesterday I started experimenting with new features, including the app tabs. I closed some of the app tabs, though not all, and then as an experiment closed & reopened the browser.
    Your specs say that:
    All of the App Tabs you have set when you close Firefox will open as App Tabs when you start Firefox again.
    This did happen for me. Neither the app tabs I had open when I closed the browser nor the ones I had closed were saved. It seems that maybe this feature is not behaving as expected? There appears to be no persistence with the app tabs.

    Your System Details List shows the NoSquint extension, so you can check the zoom settings in that extension.
