Info about configuring queuespace?s size in Tuxedo 6.5

Hi
I am looking for infomation about how I can calculate the size of a Tuxedo/Q
queuespace. What are the parameters that I have to analyze in order to make a
good "setting"?
Merci

Well,
What about:
SUM(i = 0; i = n){QUEUE(i) size}
where
QUEUE(i) size
is the size of a particular queue in your queue space.
Now I hear you say: "But what's then a good size for a queue?" (a GOOD question)
That depends on:
- the number of messages enqueued per unit of time
- the average size of the messages
- the amount of spare capacity you want to have (how long before the queue gets
filled up completely if no messages are being read from it)
The bottom line is: you have to think about it and maybe ask users what would
be acceptable for them. If a Service Level Agreement requires that messages can
be stored for 2 days then you'd better make sure that you can handle it.
Example:
- 100,000 messages/day
- average message size 2 kb
- must be able to handle 12 hours of messaging before queue is completely filled
up
Then the queue size is 100,000 * 12/24 * 2kb = 100,000 kb = 100 Mb.
Add another 30% engineering margin and you will need 130 Mb for this queue.
Admitted: this is a very rough calculation.
Remarks:
- disk space is relatively cheap
- the size of the individual queues determines the size of the queue space you'll
need
- you don't want to administer the queues on a daily basis if they appear too
small (time and again if you're a real Scrooge)
- really big queue spaces may take some time to be initialised by TUXEDO, but
that's only at creation time
Bottom line: use your common sense.

    SoCal thanks for the attention,
sorry for having wrote the question directly in the subject, but first i wrote it by text edit then copied it, but in the wrong place too.....
coming to my question, timeline settings are:
as it is a commercial promo that must be projected in a multiplex cinema, the 2K format is needed.
I've heard about transcoding services, and they are very expensive.
so i'm looking if there is a way to do everything by fcp.
the project will be delivered as SD DVD for archive pourposes and as a single file for the projection or eventually transconding.
p.s.: sorry for my english, i'm from italy: had my last english lesson 35 years ago!

  • Need info about max HDD size available for Satellite Pro M30-813

    Hello,
The following question is mainly to be addressed to authorized Toshiba support personnel. What exactly is the limitation of a maximum size of an internal HDD that I could use with my Satellite Pro M30-813?
Recently, I have bought and installed seagate 160 GB SATA drive, onto which I have successfully installed WXP Pro and have been running it for quite a while with no problems. Recently, I have been copying large amount of data from an external hard drive to my new internal disk, and as the files were being copied as I noticed having about 50 GB free space left, I had experienced windows "delayed write failed" and a massive partition failure with no possibility to recover data. The system would no longer boot and the whole MBR was damaged. As the result, I have lost all data on my new disk.
Although, I realize that Toshiba is not responsible for additional hardware that I use with my laptop and that is not officially supported by Toshiba, I am certain that as an end user of a Toshiba product I have the right to know about a max HDD size limitation information for my notebook model. Therefore, I request Toshiba technical support representative to give me a straight official answer to my question.
    Thank you in advance,
    Andrejs

    Hi Andrew
    > The following question is mainly to be addressed to authorized Toshiba support personnel
I think you are in the wrong area if you are looking for an answer from an authorized Toshiba support.
This is a Toshiba user-to-user forum! You will meet here Toshiba notebook owner and enthusiasts who share knowledge and tries solve problems but nobody from Tosh :(
I could provide my experience with the M30 Satellite and the HDD upgrade possibilities.
In my knowledge the Sat M30 supports a 40GB, 60GB and 80GB HDD for sure.
In my opinion you could use the 100GB HDD but bigger HDDs will not run and functions correctly.
So switch to a lower HDD size and enjoy the notebook!
Ive goggled a little bit and found compatible HDD and the part numbers
    HITACHI GBC000Z810 -> 80GB
    HITACHI GBC00014810 -> 80GB
    TOSHIBA HDD2188B -> 80GB
    HITACHI G8C0000Z610 -> 60GB
    HITACHI G8BC00013610 -> 60GB
    TOSHIBA HDD2183 -> 60GB
    TOSHIBA HDD2184 -> 60GB
I hope this could help you a little bit!

  • Need info about RH Server 6 and reports

I'm interisted in RH Server 6 but I'm unable to locate much

    Access database.

    Hey, Mike!
I found a few things for you. I'm in a hurry, so I'll list
    them quickly.
For the Trial, go to the Adobe downloads page
    http://www.adobe.com/downloads/
Then select RoboHelp Server 6 from the dropdown list. You
will be asked to register (free) if you haven't already. When you
arrive at the download page make sure you note the Trial Serial #
To make it easier for you, its:
    1336-1033-2628-5062-0993-4570
You can also find a RoboHelp Server 6 Getting Started Guide
    here
    http://www.adobe.com/support/robohelp/downloads/getting_started_rh6_server.pdf
You were asking about IIS. Yes. As Colum says, this comes
with virtually any version of Windows Server (or Windows XP
Professional). However, you must install and configure it. I am not
an IT or web administrator so it took me a while to learn, but
amazingly I got it to work if you're patient and follow the steps.
(I'm speaking of both IIS and Robohelp Server) Clearly IIS
configuration is not a trivial thing and it is assumed that an
author would have help and cooperation from the IT or Web Admin
    folks.
As for customizing reports. At present, the existing reports
are the only ones offered. Since these reports are generated from a
database (Access, SQL Server or Oracle) I would think (haven't done
it myself) that someone familiar with database adminstration could
open the DB (after a backup that is) and be more creative with
    generating customized reports.
You are right that the "Question" does in fact mean any
search term or phrase that an end user puts in the search field.
This is the string that is stored and reported as a question. In
discussing this with the Adobe team at STC last month, they agreed
that this was definitely a holdover from the legacy software and is
due for a change sometime in the future.
To answer your other question, text entered in the Index
field is not stored in the database, only the search term field.
Since taking on the old legacy product from eHelp and
Macromedia, Adobe is focusing most of its attention on beefing up
the client authoring app for the next version (Adobe RoboHelp 7).
My assumption is that they are keen on improving the RoboHelp
Server as well. I have passed along many feature requests along the
lines you seem to suggest and hopefully the server will evolve
    along with the client app.
Even with its limitations, my clients tell me RoboHelp Server
provides very useful feedback to help them improve their knowledge
base content to make it more helpful and responsive to users needs.
They also like the searchability of PDF, Word, PPT and Excel as
well...something which plain WebHelp without the RoboHelp Server
    does not do.
I probably didn't get to everything, but hope this helps.

  • More Info about ProRes

Hi, I am still trying to learn enough about this topic to feel good about it, so for any of you who've helped me on on this I appreciate it, and I'm still working on it, so bear with me...
So, the time has come to do some capturing. I have some Beta SP tapes that I'm going to capture. I've been asked to capture them ProRes 422, which is the codec we're editing in. I'm trying to find out more just because I want to make sure this is the most efficient way to do this.
The white paper says HD files that compare in size to uncompressed SD. I realize this is a reference to how ProRes treats HD material, so what is its effect on SD? Are there pros and cons to capturing the Beta stuff in Apple ProRes vs. capturing uncompressed SD? My biggest questions are:
1: Between these three things (ProRes 422, ProRes 422 HQ, and Uncompressed 10 bit SD) what are my end file sizes going to be? Is there a storage benefit to any of these, and if so what's the best option?
    2. Is there a better choice? I've heard a lot of people tell me that ProRes is unnecessary for SD stuff, but again, I don't know enough to say otherwise and I've been asked to do it this way, but I've also been asked to find out the advantages to one versus the other here first before we actually rent a deck and start capturing.
    3. Just in general, since I'm obviously floundering on getting a good grasp on the use of ProRes for my particular project, anyone who maybe knows of a good place for me to read up/listen up on ProRes and its uses, especially in regards to SD, I'd greatly appreciate any advice.
Sorry to keep asking what seems like the same question worded differently, but this time I'm trying to produce a clear comparison so the big guy can make a decision. Thanks a lot!
    Austin

There's a few aspects to this - and such several "correct" answers.
First, what exactly will you be doing? Are you just editing or will there be vfx/color grading etc? If it is the latter, and you're in SD, I'd personally go with uncompressed 10-bit. The files will be large, but it will be worth it if you do a lot of processing.
ProRes files will be much smaller, and still look very good, but may not hold up as well to heavy processing.
Not sure what you mean with #2... what other codec(s) are you looking at. Saying it is "unnecessary for SD" is an interesting comment - depends on what you want to do with the footage.

  • Expanding iTunes fields to handle more info about each CD (Mac & PC)

The LP and CD covers often hold a lot of important info about the album, music and artist, producer, history. With the use of physical album covers on the decline as we use iTunes/mp3s more and more, a lot of liner notes and credits are no longer with our music. iTunes doesn't even have a field for Producer or engineer! But what about cover art or room for the players on the records, etc. (can you tell I used to work at record companies?
I think iTunes needs to be redesigned to take the place of a CD jewel box so we can get much if not all of the info on the digital album. Even a tab for additional artwork as some CDs have not just front cover art but also back cover or what about the box set where there's the boxset art but each CD has it's own CD cover art. Currently I just use the art from the CDs but then lose the art from the outer box, which I would like to be able to include in the future.
The current Comments fields is WAY too small I'm thinking you could as a tab that would be fore the entire record like the size of lyrics so you could put all the players, liner notes, quotes, etc. in an unstructured way and be able to see most of the data without having to scroll so much.

You can associate a PDF with an album and put as much or as little information in it as you want. Some album downloads come with digital booklets which may, but often don't, replicate all the information from the original packaging.
You can also embed additional artwork images in a files tag. Files with multiple images develop two triangles at the top of the artwork box to let you switch between the available images.
While I agree the artificial limit of 255 characters for Comments in iTunes is annoying if you put any such information into the Lyrics field there is the bonus that it can actually be viewed from your devices.

  • Need some info about Equium A60

    Hi,
I am looking to upgrade RAM on my laptop which is a Equium A60 (PSA67E-001004NO). I need to know what speed my motherboard supports... I posted a question some time back and got the impression that my laptop can take 533mhz but I enquired other places and got the idea that my laptop supports 333mhz. I need to know the correct value my motherboard supports. Whether its 333mhz or up over..
One thing more I need to know is there any way one can check for the configuration that laptop has, because there is nothing about this Equium on the net or Toshiba site...
I remember to see a page on which all hardware and preinstalled software details of Equium A60 PSA67E-001004NO were on the net but I fail to remember where I saw it..
Can someone help in any way?

    Hi
Your notebook has 256MB internal memory and just one slot is available for memory expansion. I have found info that your unit can handle with 1280MB max.
    The compatible memory modules are:
    PC2700 256MB (PA3311U-1M25)
    PC2700 512MB (PA3312U-1M51)
    PC2700 1024MB (PA3313U-1M1G)
If you want check part numbers on Google and you will find out all info about those modules. I have no time now to check it for you.

    Hi,
Info about japanese iPlanet directory Server.
Gateway is localized for English, Japanese, French, Spanish, and German. You can configure the gateway to support additional locales.
Language files are stored in /usr/iplanet/servers/dsgw/html/lang and /usr/iplanet/servers/dsgw/config/lang, where lang is defined in RFC1766.
For example, language files for Japanese are stored in /usr/iplanet/servers/dsgw/html/ja and /usr/iplanet/servers/dsgw/config/ja[true]).
Support for the character sets necessary to render a particular locale (language) must be available in the browser's configuration.

It does not care what the Interconnect is.. or how it works.. or how it is configured. It deals with the Interconnect via the o/s kernel's IP stack API (i.e. sockets).
If you want to look at the Interconnect layer itself, you need to do it from the o/s layer. Like using ethtool to configure or query the Interconnect interfaces. And using the s/w tools provided by the Interconnect layer. For example, Infiniband provides a range of ib commands at o/s level to query and configure IPoIB (IP over Infiniband).

  • Where to find info about JNDI and Glassfish 3.1.2?

    Hello,
i am searching already long time to find information on how to find e.g. an EntityManagerFactory using JNDI and an Glassfish server.
Can anybody point me to some useable documentation? The GF admin and developer and deployment guide as well as the reference
does not provide a lot of information. They write about general JNDI topics, how to configure data sources, that JNDI can be used to
lookup resources and the like, on other places people write about, hey, lookup the EntityManagerFactory for your persistence unit
(persistence.xml), but i am not able to find what JNDI names i can lookup and where and how i can find out what JNDI names are
available in my server at all.
    Thanks for any hint,

    Hello
Maybe it sounds stupid now but what kind of info do you need exactly?
When you need BIOS update you can visit BIOS download page - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_bios.jsp
For drivers Toshiba drivers download page - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
When you need Users manuals document you can download it from - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_manuals.jsp
General info about this machine you can find on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/unitdetails/
    Thats all you can find.
I have old P200 and it is the same machine as your A200 just bigger with 17 display. In BIOS under advanced BIOS options there is SATA controller mode option and two options: AHCI and Compatibility mode.
It should be used with AHCI mode and then you will have full HDD performance. Many people use compatibility mode to install old WXP without loading SATA driver.
Can you please tell us what kind of info do you need and what do you want to do with this machine.
I really hope we can help you somehow.

i'm trying to add my airport express to my network. The airport utility shows a message that its gathering info about my network then suddenly an unexpected error message appears. Why is that?

Until Bob Timmons gets back to you, first decide what you would like the Express to do. I understand you want it for AirPlay remote speakers, which you can certainly do.
I am assuming that you are not using an Apple AirPort router; if that's not the case stop here and let me know.
If your existing router is not an Apple AirPort Base Station, the Express:
can "join" an existing wireless network as a client, for the sole purpose of streaming music. If that's what you want to do, do not connect it to your router with an Ethernet cable.
can "extend" an existing wired network to serve as an additional wireless access point, which can also stream music. If that's what you want to do, connect its WAN port to an available LAN port on your router using an Ethernet cable.
Then, "hard reset" the Express according to the instructions below, and configure it. The prompts should be self-explanatory. If you run into trouble, describe which of the above two configurations you decided upon, and the point at which you're getting the "unexpected problem".
To "hard reset" an AirPort Base Station: make sure it's powered up, then gently press and hold its tiny reset button. Don't apply any more force than required to feel a tactile click.  Keep it depressed for five to ten seconds, long enough for its LED to flash amber rapidly. Release the reset button. Then, the LED will glow amber steadily for about a minute. Then, it will flash amber, slowly, about once every second or two, waiting for you to configure it with AirPort Utility.

    Yes
    Off Peak hours
Apart from this export, what database backup procedure you have in place? Full Backups/Incremental all in place
You said, you take export regularly as part of procedure. Is this a strange behavior today or did you observe this previously as well??I have been observing since i joined this company. It was 14GB and Dump was around 7 ..now the DB is 20GB and dump is around 10GB
I was just thinkking for a TB database how much the export would be...:)
