Information of Business Rule monitor (BRM)

Hi,
I am new to oracle apps and I need some information.
Could you please tell me in which table is the information related to ITEMTYPE=JTFBRM and ITEMKEY is stored in EBS ?
Also, is it possible to track/check if the BRM ran successfully from backend ?

Hi,
They are stored in Workflow tables. Basically, you'll need to query the following tables:
WF_ITEMS
WF_ITEM_ACTIVITY_STATUSES
WF_ITEM_ACTIVITY_STATUSES_H
WF_ITEM_ATTRIBUTE_VALUES
You can also use the Status Monitor in System Admin/WF Admin responsibilities to monitor the progress of the workflow processes.

Bashar

• Information on Business Process Monitoring

Hello experts,
I want to know if there is a way to monitor spool jobs in business process monitoring or other tool? I assume that I can monitor background jobs with BPMon but I don't find where I can monitor the content of the spool generated by the job?
I read also that job management can monitor jobs, but for the task "monitoring", it refers to BPMon.
Can you please tell me if I can do it? because I read in some doc that it is possible but no way to find how.
Thank you in advance for your help.
BR,
Mohamed BOUSSAID

Hello Mohamed,
the job monitoring does not allow the monitoring of a spool file as it is an unstructured TemSe file. If you have important information to monitor you should write it into the job log and classify it via message class, message type and message number. Such structured information can be easily monitored via BPMon.
Monitoring the content of a unstrucutred spool file which can easily get several MB is too performance expensive and hence not supported.

• Error Deploying Business Rules (connection information could not be found)

Hello experts,
When I try to deploy the Business Rules I'm getting the following error:
"Deployment was not successful.
Rule was validated with no errors.
The rule could not be validated against the deployed application as connection information could not be found"
When I create a new Business Rule I can't associate the Business Rule to the form and I think it's because the deploy wasn't successful.
I would apreciate your help about this issue.
Regards,
Rodrigo

Hello,
We already tried to make some changes in order of dimensions but the problem persists.
We didn't change the order of dimensions, so I think itsn't due to that.
In the Production environment with the same application we don't have any error ... so ideas about this issue are lacking!

• Sharing information between Hyperion Business Rules

I am trying to share information between two Hyperion Business rules in EAS console.
Suppose for example , I calculated a value and stored in local variable in one Business Rule.
I would like to have this information in another business rule.
Any idea about the possiblities.?
I tried to use Global Variables in EAS but the Global variables are fixed and cannot be changed.
Thanks ,
Rajan

Can you make a HBR local variable the target of a value? Doesn't that local variable have to resolve to a member in an Essbase database sooner or later if it's going to receive a data value from a formula?
Or did you create a local variable as Real and then used that as the target? Maybe that would do it? (Obviously I've never done this.)
Could you create a temporary place in the database to stick it and then delete it?
Something like:
1) Local variable = some kind of formula/calc
2) No Account->No Product->No Scenario->whatever = Local Variable value. The point is an unused member that will let you set a value without overwriting permanent numbers. That shouldn't be too hard to find in a Planning app.
3) In HBR #2, go after that member combination and number from #2, stick it into a local variable, and set that location in #2 to #Missing.
Kind of painful, but it shouldn't really be that tough. You will need to make sure you create the block in #2.

• Need Information on Sourcing cockpit and Business rule framework

Hi Experts,
I am having 2 general qustions :
1. ) What is sourcing Cokpit and what are the things that we can done from sourcing cockpit. Please explain in detail.
example : what i knw abt sourcing is...... It means from where we are going to source our material means vendor.
My idea is to know everything abt sourcing cockpit.
2. ) In SRM 7.0 what is the Busniess rule framework concept and if i need to configure a BRF approval process with respect to Shopping cart and a Purchase order in Extended classic scenario then how do i need to move ahead.
Thanks
Sunny

Hi,
Q no 1:
Sourcing Cockpit is an area from where you can source the requirements..There are two ways by which sourcing can be done.
1. The Purchase requisiton created from ECC 6.0 can be pushed to SRM for Sourcing . Either direct material with Part no or
Service requirement without part number
2. The shopping cart created in SRM can be converted to sourcing.
once the requirments are flown from ECC 6.0 and SRM . in the SRM server in sourcing node--click Carry our sourcing.
you can get all the requirements.
From this you can convert it to Purchase order, contract,Auction. Bid invitation.
Q. no 2 :Business Rule Framework.(BRF)
This is related to Workflow .From SRM 7.0 this workflow is called Process controlled workflow. Only by simple rules the
Workflow for Approval process for P.O ,Contract,Bid invitation can be done.
If you are SAP ABAP person they you can confugure this .Normally ABAP person will do this.. Please go to S ID and get the
details there for Business rule framework
Just check in this forum in Search you can get more details and notes
go to Google.com and enter business rule framework you get more material
check this link

• How to track what your Calc Script/Business Rule is doing?

Hi,
I wanted to know the methods or the best way to keep a track of what your Calculation Script of Business Rule is doing once you execute it.
Or suppose it fails for some reason and the reason is not a syntax error (that it usually would show up in EAS while validating)how can you know what's going wrong?
Please let me know !
~ Adella

All the CDFs are available at - https://www.samplecode.oracle.com/tracker/tracking/linkid/prpl1004/action/ExecuteQuery?query=essbase1
There are also the Echo CDFs in the String collection -
@JechoBoth - Echoes back all arguments passed to the function. To pass an array of arguments use @List(comma delimited list).
@JechoString - Echoes back all arguments passed to the function. To pass an array of arguments use @List(comma delimited list).
@JechoDouble - Echoes back all arguments passed to the function. To pass an array of arguments use @List(comma delimited list).
Saying that they usually need to be a calc block so if you are expecting to find where a calc is up to in an aggregation it is not going to tell you much.
Also you have to watch out if you are calculating a large number of blocks then you can end up outputing more information that you would ever need.
If you look in the essbase application log you can actually get an idea of which part of the script the calc is executing and times without the need for CDFs.
Also if a script fails then the app log is the place to go and check.
You can also look at the standard calc commands in essbase

OK I bit the bullet and contacted support on this one.
There is a known issue with MDS 2012 and business rules with a combination of "must be unique" attributes. If you do not list the attributes in the same order that they were created you will get the generic error I cited. At first they told me it must be
in the same order the attributes are in and that worked on one entity but not the other. The difference was that in the second entity I previously rearranged the attributes in question. Once I changed the order in the business rule to reflect the *original*
order it worked like a champ.
Hopefully this helps save someone some time and money.

• Business rule takes time to open

Hi,
Business rule takes much time when trying to open it.
I'm new to essbase. Can any one tell in which log i can get the information like why it takes much time like that.
Thanks
Kumar

we are facing this issue for particular user. In the same system, we tried with two different users. for 1st user that BR is opened in a minute, but the same BR took around 20mins to open for 2nd user
OS - Window XP
EAS version - 9.3.1
Example
A is 1st user --> XX business rule took 1min to open
B is 2nd user --> XX business rule took 20mins to open
Here both the users are having same access on the BR and the applications

Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select Change Settings for Keychain "login". In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences ▹ First Aid
If the box marked Keep login keychain unlocked is not checked, check it.
Select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain. Quit Keychain Access.

• Using ARIS process models as the foundation for Business Process Monitoring

Hello,
Do anyone know if you can use IDS Scheer ARIS process models and the integration between IDS Scheer ARIS and SAP Solution Manager as the starting point for end-to-end Business Process Monitoring (BPM) so that you get the process description/model automatically in Solution Manager BPM and just need to configure the monitoring (more or less that you monitor against the modelled process in ARIS)?
Is there an API for SAP Solution Manager BPM so that non-SAP solutions/systems can be part of the end-to-end process monitoring?
If not, how do you usually integrate non-SAP solutions that are part of an end-to-end process that you want to monitor into SAP Solution Manager BPM, or do you not use Solution Manager BPM for this?
What is the roadmap for SAP around SAP Solution Manager BPM when it comes to non-SAP systems/applications/solutions and the new SAP NetWeaver BPM functionality?
Regards,
Markus Johansson

Hello Markus,
I just paste my answer form the other forum entry Re: Business process management strategy in SAP?
in a nutshell BPM Netweaver is focussing on so called edge-processes (usually
SOA-based and often workflow related). These edge-processes a thought to enhance exisitng core business processes and should provide the fast competitive edge versus competitors. Examples would be also xApps. For this Netweaver provides process modelling tools, where you can get exectuable code through the integration between CE and PI. The monitoring part for these processes is mainly targeting business end-users and business manager.
Business Process Monitoring with Solution Manager focusses on core business processes which are realized with the "conventional", "old" SAP Architecture, e.g. Order-to-Cash or Procure-to-Pay. You get a combination of technical monitors (average response times of transactions, background job runtimes, monitors for IDOC or qRFC processing) and application related monitors (you get more than 200 pre-configured application monitors out-of-the-box like number of overdue customer orders or outbound deliveries or number of deliveries with goods issue posted but no invoice). The target group here is the support organization of the customer, from Basis-Support over application support on IT side to process owner on business department side.
Overview presentations can be found under
https://service.sap.com/bpm --> Media Library --> Customer Information -->
"Business Process Monitoring - Part 1 & 2".
Or look under https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/nw-processmonitoring
In the end BPM Netweaver and BPMon SolMan are complementary for different purposes and different target groups.
Best Regards

• BPC NW - Error in Business Rule for Account transformation rule table

hi
I have given the Account transformation Rule to move Amount from Account A to Account B and then I have given the following script logic in the default script
**RUN_PROGRAM CALC_ACCOUNT*
*CATEGORY = Category*
*CURRENCY = RptCurrency*
*TID_RA = %TIME_SET%*
*CALC=A*
*OTHER = ENTITY=C1000*
**ENDRUN_PROGRAM*
But when I try to load data through Input schedule in Account A and expect amount to transfer to Account B, I m getting an error
Book Name:Book4
Application : PLANNING*
Status : Failed*
Submitted Count : 1*
Accepted Count : 1*
Rejected Count : 0*
- Error Message -*
Error running default logic (Business rules are not available)
- Rejected record list -*
Error converting records: The root element is missing.
Can someone please advice me what to do ....

hi Marcel,
Lot of thanks for your answer.
But I have used your logic after removing GROUPS as I dont have GROUPS dimension in my application.
*RUN_PROGRAM CALC_ACCOUNT
CATEGORY = %CATEGORY_SET%
TID_RA = %TIME_SET%
CALC=FX
OTHER = [ENTITY=%ENTITY_SET%]
*ENDRUN_PROGRAM
This is the error I m getting
Book Name:Book3
Application : PLANNING
Status : Failed
Submitted Count : 1
Accepted Count : 1
Rejected Count : 0
- Error Message -
Error running default logic (Business rules are not available)
- Rejected record list -
Error converting records: The root element is missing.
Can you please advice
a) Does it mean some issue with my client installation as I dont see these LGF files. I even dont see the data folder in which lgf files are supposed to be present
b) Where to find information for this interface CALC_ACCOUNT? How did you decide to use 'FX' and how do you know which dimensions to use. Like I dont have GROUPS.
Please give me your comments.
regards
Gaurav

• Business Rule Error

Hi,
I am trying to launch the Business Rule using the Command Launcher utility. It was working fine a few days back, but today when I am trying to execute it, its giving me the following error:

Yes it creates a connection and populates information into EAS/HBR db table (HBRPluginData), not sure if it is exactly the same with the command line launcher though I thought it may be.
Its always been a pain that you have to log into planning first before business rules work correctly through EAS, probably never get fixed now as the push is towards calc manager now.
Cheers

• Queries on Business Process Monitoring (BPM) & Interface Monitoring

Dear all,
I have got a few queries on the subject and would greatly appreciate any valuable inputs.
Before I proceed, want to clarify that I have downloaded all overtly available documents (PDFs, SIMs) from the following URLs:
http://service.sap.com/rkt-solman
http://service.sap.com/solutionmanager Media Library
http://service.sap.com/bpm Media Library
I may not have read them all though since I come from a Functional angle.
Kindly reply to whatever query you can please. Not all of them are sequential.
Queries:
(1) How are Interfaces with External Systems (beyond the firewall of the enterprise) monitored ?
(2) Is it really worth listing all such External Systems as Logical Components in their own right ? I guess this makes sense if at a Process Step level, one wants to list a 'specific' Logical Component involved instead of 'generic' term like External System. However, it would benefit only if Interface Monitoring is feasible; isn't it ?
(3) There are Interfaces which are built between SAP and External System and serve various Business Processes under various Business Scenarios. In such circumstances, it is not easy to list which Process 'owns' the Interface. Therefore, under a normal Implementation Project structure (SOLAR02), choosing a particular Process Step, getting into 'Development' Tab and listing the Interface Program name may not be feasible, since there is no particular place where it belongs.
Is it therefore a good idea to create namesake Scenario for capturing all interfaces and list a library of all interfaces and store documents right there ? If so, will these namesake processes be of any use in BPM at a later date ?
(4) If my primary objective is to accomplish Interface Monitoring and not Business Process Monitoring per se, is it a good idea to create a new Solution Landscape, and manually create Business Processes that are suited to list Interfaces than to assign Template or Implementation Project to the Solution Landscape, and inherit those Processes ?
(5) What is it that a SAP Competence (Support) Centre will find as a 'major' gain in activating BPM to monitor Interfaces alone - is there something that SolMan's BPM based Interface Monitoring gives more than what PI level reporting may provide them with ?
(6) In Interfaces with Non-SAP Systems (some of them are old/ proprietary legacy systems with Credit Card companies; some of them are like 'Active Directory' servers), is it possible to define Metrics for BPM that such systems will contribute to SolMan, for reporting purposes ? Or, is it too much to hope for
Thanks again, for your patience and advance thanks for your kind responses.

Hi,
Welcome to BPM
You have asked too many questions in a single Post, Please read rules of engagement before posting
You can monitor the following without any trouble.
● ALE/EDI
● qRFC
1) Its obvious, if your firewall blocks all your request to external enterprise, it is not possible to monitor.
3) These interfaces are not the one related to development tab in SOLAR02, you have to map them from BPM.
4) Yes, you don't have to depend on any project for your processes, you can add it in your Solution Landscape.
5) Post a Separate Thread!!!
6) Post a Separate Thread!!!
Hope this gives a better idea.
Feel free to revert back.
