Initial BI 4 CMS install

I'm confused how to start my initial BOE 4.1 SP4 install.
This is a brand new install.
I have two empty databases on a a MS SQLserver (one for CMS, one for Audit).
These are Windows 2008 R2 servers.
I will be having a cluster where:
Server1 Web Tier
Server2 CMS and FRS related services
Server3 Second CMS and FRS related services
Server4 Crystal related job server services
Server5 Second Crystal related job server services
Server6 WebI related job server services
My question is how do I get my initial CMS database created?
I can't just do a Web Tier install on Server1 because it will be looking for an existing CMS.
I don't want to do a full install on Server2 because I won't be running the Web Tier components from there.
Do I perform a full install on Server1 and then disable the non-Web Tier components afterward?
It's been a while since I've done a brand new install with the intention of clustering.
Thanks.

Hi,
To simplify things:
The server numbering that has been done might be the reason of confusion.
Move Server1 to Server6 order, and bump up the rest so that CMS tier 1 is Server1!
1. A CMS repository is created when a CMS installation is performed.
- Therefore, install your CMS tiers first.
- Ensure the FRS is configured.
- You should be able to login to CMC, Launchpad, etc (if you also plan to install a Tomcat on atleast 1 of these).
This is your CORE installation.
You can now install the rest of the tiers atop this.
2. Install the processing tiers.
- This can be done in a parallel fashion.
- These installations (custom, no CMS) require atleast 1 CMS installed to a repository.
- You can use the primary CMS in the cluster during installation to register them to the CMS database.
3. Install the Web Tier (these are pretty much independent as the CMS db plays no role here).
- This should be the basic approach.
- Testing at each phase will allow you to ensure that part of the installation is working fine.
- Then move on to the next phase.
- If you have any additional customization such as SSO, 3rd party authentication, web app customizing, etc. This should be done once the platform is successfully tested.
Hope this simplifies the skeleton plan for the installation.

  • How can I configure a mysql-database for new cms install?

I just install a mac os x server on os x 10.8.4, but can't create a database to install a cms, how can I do this ? How cann I access the database from admin window or else ?

Consider acquiring some external hosting as part of your efforts, then?  Various folks offer this hosting, and that gets you out of maintaining (most of) MySQL and Drupal, and more time to spend on your web site and whatever else you're working on.
As for your questions, please follow the installation instructions for installing MySQL, then follow the instructions for installing Drupal.  The OS X Server setup is basically the same as any other Unix system, too; what you're doing on Ubuntu is more or less the same as what you're doing on other Linux and Unix systems, and on OS X and OS X Server.  (This is also at the core of why most of these add-on widgets expect you to set up your PATH, too.)
The Drupal database connections are managed under the sites directory, a subdirectory located within the Drupal directory tree.  You'll find subdirectories for the specific Drupal sites you've configured there, with a settings.php file for each.  There's also a general sites directory with modules and themes that can be applied generically.  The settings.php file itself can be edited with nano, vim or emacs via the command line, or with one of a very few ASCII-capable GUI editors.  If you don't know what I'm referring to here, use nano editor.
Yes, you can install phpmyadmin on OS X.  I wouldn't, though.  Sequel Pro has a much more familiar interface for folks that use OS X, and you don't have to protect that tool quite like you have to protect and maintain phpmyadmin against attack.  Do not allow remote access to phpmyadmin, as ill-secured sites are a popular target for remote attacks.
The Drupal web forums are a pretty good resource for Drupal-related questions, too.

  • Modifying Initial IAS Setup After Install - Install Issue

Our developers are using local instances of the Oracle AS product. However, during the install the product does not bind to anything other than an IP. However, because of our network they never get same IP twice. This issue will not be resolved. What do we modify so that the machine will always be able to start the 2 required services without issue?

Perhaps Metalink Note:209927.1 can help out...

  • PC fails to load windows on initial boot up since install of Firefox 4.0.1

When I first turn on my PC it only boots as far as the Window's XP logo screen. Then before it can complete loading the screen goes black. I have to manually shut down the PC. On the second or third attempt it completes it's boot process. Once the operating system is up it runs fine. However, if I leave the PC inactive for several hours, I can't get back to the "Start" screen.

Try to redo the default browser and make another browser like IE the default browser and then let Firefox do it again.

  • SQL Server Error when tryingt to install the CMS DB on SQL Server 2005 x64

I am trying to install BOEXI R3 on w2k3 64-bit OS in a SQL Server 2005 x64 database, I am currently at the installation step where i Specify an exisiting CMS database. I created a System DSN and tested it, and it was successful. So when I got to the screen where I select my datasource I had to check use trusted connection because the datasource would not show up when Use DSN created by WOW64 option was checked. From there I could select the database I created. Oh yeah, I also made the application server local system account part of my DB admins group so it has full access to the database yet when I click next to connect I get a CMS Database Error: STU000226. here is what I have in my log:

How do I get past this?

The workaround was, I installed the SQL Server Client tools and created a System DataSource  and then had to create a user DataSource  (it is a quirk in the installer I guess) to get past this point in the installation. Now I have an even bigger problem. Everything but the CMS installed and the installer hung at the "Configuring the CMS" part. The installation finished but when I tried to log into the Central managment console I got this error:
Error: Server GSD-RRPT-RDC:6400 not found or server may be down (FWM 01003) null
I looked at the forums for the cause of this error and came to the conclusion that BOEXI does not support an installation on SQL Server 2005 when using Integrated Authentication to the SQL Server. See the engineers here disabled SQL Authentication for the SQL Server and  will not allow it.
Is this true? Or is there a workaround to install the CMS using Integrated Authentication in the DataSource ?
    Thanks.

  • Can't install OS 8.6 on iMac "DV" (400) Slot Loading?

I have an iMac "DV" (400) Slot Loading that I am trying to install the original system on (8.6, if I'm not mistaken). It has 128 mbs of RAM, a 10 gb HD, and currently no system installed on the hard drive. I have updated the firmware to 4.1.9.
The problem is that the iMac won't boot from the install CD for me to do the installation. The iMac used to have OS 9 installed on it, and when I tried to run the installer with the computer booted from 9, it told me it couldn't run on this machine. I believe I have the correct installation CD. I have also tried a couple of other installation CDs, and neither 8.5 or 8.6 will boot this computer.
Is there a way I can get 8.6 installed on this machine with the 8.6 CD, or is it just not possible for me to install 8.6 any more?

    Hi Jon
Load the install CD into the Mac then power off (with the CD still inserted), on rebooting but before the chime, hold down letter C on the keyboard, that will boot from the install CD to let you do a system install.
You did not note whether you had other programs/files on the iMac that you want to keep, but if not, I would suggest that you do a complete "clean install" by re-formating/initializing the HD, then install the OS.
I would also suggest that you partition the HD into 3 (or more) partitions, 1 for the main system, 1 (or more) for your other programs/files and 1 for a "back up system", the logic being the main system is your default "boot-up" while the "back-up" system is what you boot to do maintenance/de-frag etc on the main system with a utility such as Norton's Utilities or similar.
I would also suggest that you have a copy of Norton's (or similar) on both systems, that way you can "chop and change" systems to do the maintenance. Proper maintenance/de-fraging cannot be done to the "boot-up" system that you boot from.
Hope this is of some help.

  • Client Install Issue - SCCM 2012 R2 - Manual Deploy Installed ok

Hello, I have sccm 2012 configured with 2,000 machine approx. It is been used mainly as a Software Deployment tool for now. On checking a recent IE10 upgrade, I noticed that there is a number of machines that do not have the client installed (and thus did
not upgrade IE). I picked 1 machine, searched in SCCM - had no client. I checked all relevant settings:
Boundary for Client in question - ok
Local Client Settings (ip,dns,no firewall, ping sccm ok and vice versa etc).
Once i right clicked to deploy the client, it installed no problem. I checked the ccmsetup log file and the only info it had was from the time that the client was manually deployed (I will attach the log below anyway). I am really puzzled as to why the client
did not install and if this is the issue why IE is not upgrading (it is hard to pinpoint as there are 250 sites approx). The automatic install task works no problem on other machines once the machine goes online.
Any help, would be great. Here is the log (I am fairly new to SCCM btw):

  • Is this why I and so many others can't install Photoshop CS6 update 13.0.1.2 (Win)?

I'm well into my third evening trying to figure this one out. Here's what hasn't worked:
    1) downloading and running standalone update patch (not easy to find)
    2) replacing missing language files. I did this by installing Creative Suite CS6 to another computer and then copying missing language files (bloat) to my PS CS6 folder.
    3) trying to reinstall Photoshop from my DVD - nope, it's an all or nothing proposition - would have needed to return everything to initial release state - no Repair available
    4) following various 'expert' threads that for the most part are shots in the dark or from-some-script replies by outsourced support people, many of whom can't spell
    5) researching ambiguous advice... do I reinstall, uninstall/reinstall, or run CS6 cleanup utility before uninstall/reinstall - what would be collateral damage for trying any of these.
OK, I knew I was fighting badly written installer problems. I remember very well the many evenings I wasted trying to get CS4 Creative Suite installed. In fact it was I who figured out what was broken and passed along the solution to a Senior Tech rep at Adobe.
Anyway, here's what I found at the end of a very long failed installation log file:

Check out the 1st, 2nd and 4th lines. Why does the brain dead installer think my CS6 is a subscription. It was purchased as a permanent license and remained so until this CC abomination began to enforce totally wrong assumptions. I have subscribed to CC for the new features, not to cripple licenses I already paid for.
I found these contradictory lines in the middle of this file:
    05/15/13 02:16:01:157 | [INFO] |  | UPDATER | CORE |  |  |  | 53920 | CFU(Webfeed): Patch is meant only for subscription licenses, but client doesn't have a valid subscription license.

Could it be that my having installed CS6 to the D:\ drive is the culprit? I didn't have that option with CC
This cryptic mess seems to be the concatenation of several logs with Adobe's assorted rationales for failure to work. I wonder if anyone is left in the free support pool who understands these cryptic logs. If there's anyone does, here it is in its entirety:

hello there.  You have probably already fixed whatever it was that was interfering, and I admit I didn't read all of the info that followed your post, but I have run into a few files that seem to be suspicious that could be part of the problem.  I was getting all sorts of weird issues from my new cloud subscriptions, and I eventually began to wonder if I had been infected with some sort of malware or virus.  I still don't know, but I came across a weird file path that contained MANY strange files.  One of them was Adobe Application Manager (Updater).exe, and I THINK, I am not sure, that this could be a file that is causing problems (as well as some of the other within that path address.  On my computer it is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE\PDApp\ (for the file mentioned above it is C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE\PDApp\UWA.  I have this program that I use called PEStudio that allows me to view the contents of executables without actually running or opening them.  I have found this to be a very useful, and free, tool for researching malicious files.  When I opened the file I mentioned, there was a treasure trove of suspicious "strings" as well as others.  It actually identifies some of the strings as "blacklisted" so that you can view those strings first.  It also runs blacklists on other parts of the files so it has proved to be very useful (even if you aren't a techie per se).
Anyway, I hope this helps if you are still having trouble.

  • Can't install iPhone 2.0 Software Update for iPod touch

I am trying to download the iPhone 2.0 Software Update for iPod touch from http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/whatsnew.html so I can download apps for my new iPod touch. (Although it is pretty bogus that I should have to pay $10 for an upgrade on a brand new device so that I have the privilege to buy apps). I have iTunes 7.7 already installed.
When I click on the link https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/touchLandingPage , I do not get a download, and iTunes does not open. Nothing happens if I open iTunes before trying this link either.
Instead, I get a brief page which says "One Momemt Please". Connecting to the iTunes Store. Loading... If iTunes doen't open, click the iTunes application in your Doc or Windows Task Bar" , then my browser is redirected to http://www.apple.com/itunes/affiliates/download/?itmsUrl=itmss%3A%2F%2Fphobos.ap ple.com%2FWebObjects%2FMZFinance.woa%2Fwa%2FtouchLandingPage%3Fign-mscache%3D1 which tells me to download iTunes... but I already have iTunes installed.
I installed (then uninstalled, reinstalled) the latest iTunes (7.7.0.43) and the problem persists. iTunes works fine for all other uses.
I have the problem with both Firefox (3.0) and Internet Explorer (6)
How can I download and install The iPhone 2.0 Software Update for iPod touch directly from iTunes? I cannot find it when I search for it. It is not listed in the App store.
(P.S. The web support form does not work when I tried to fill out a problem report for "Connection" issues. Although I filled in all form fields, it would not send the report, telling me I did not fill in a field.)

The upgrade now appears directly in iTunes, so I do not need to access it from the web page. I see many others are encountering problems installing the upgrade, so I'll see how it goes...
There is no answer to the initial problem that iTunes install does not configure the browsers to handle the itmss:// protocol.
I still think Apple should not charge for this for a brand new iPod purchased just this week.

  • Photoshop elements version 1.0 install on Windows 7 64bit

I have a very old CD of APE version 1.0 from 1998. Now it does not install on my new notebook. After running AUTOPLAY and pushing the button install nothing happens.
    Who can advice what todo??

The JDK isn't installed to a shared drive, just weblogic is.
Apparently we cannot use the scaleout instructions provided in that link because we're in 64bit
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/bi.1111/e10539/c4_installing.htm#CEGEAJFC
Use the Software Only Install type to install Oracle Business Intelligence on an AIX operating system or with a 64-bit JVM, such as on a supported 64-bit operating system. For supported operating systems, refer to section 3.1 "System Requirements and Certification" of Platform Release Notes on Oracle Technology Network (http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation).
You must install Oracle WebLogic Server separately before initiating a Software Only Install or install Oracle Business Intelligence into an existing Middleware home that contains Oracle WebLogic Server. For more information on installing Oracle WebLogic Server, see Oracle Fusion Middleware Installation Guide for Oracle WebLogic Server.
To scale out your installation using the Software Only Install type on a shared network drive and with a shared Fusion Middleware home, you must specify the same domain home for all computers in your cluster. This can be accomplished by setting the same value in the Domain Home field in the Scale BI System Details screen of the Configuration Assistant. Using the same domain home for all computers in a scaled-out system with a shared Middleware home is required to start one or more managed servers within a domain through Node Manager.

  • OBIEE 11.1.1.5 Install on Windows 7 64bit Clustered

    Hello,
I am attempting to setup an Highly Available OBIEE install. I have a Windows Server 2003 R2 server with SAN storage for the network share using DFS in Active Directory.
As per http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E21764_01/bi.1111/e10539/c2_scenarios.htm#CHDHFGEI I am following this method:
"Install Oracle WebLogic Server and then perform a Software Only Install of Oracle Business Intelligence on two or more computers, as needed. Afterward, configure your system, such as by using the Configuration Assistant."
As per http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E21764_01/doc.1111/e14142/guimode.htm#i1082009 I downloaded the 64bit jar for weblogic and installed to the shared drive using a 64bit jvm. Though I had to use "-Dspace.detection=false" in order to avoid an error with the installer saying I had no space on my shared drive.
Now I am unclear as to how to proceed with the Software Only Install on multiple computers. What should the Oracle Middleware Home be for each of my servers - shared drive or local?

The JDK isn't installed to a shared drive, just weblogic is.

  • I installed IOS 7 and now it won't accept my password. How do i fix it?

I finally got around to installing IOS 7 and now my phone won't accept the 4 digit passcode. I didn't think about disabling that feature before the upgrade. Never had a problem before. And yes, I'm sure I'm using the right code. I use it many times per day! I tried plugging into my computer and itunes but since it isn't unlcocked it won't recognize it. Likewise with iCloud. I tried find my phone and it comes up offline. This is a last ditch effort. I can't even phone a friend! Any workaround?

The security is tighter in iOS7,
When you install it for the first time it asks you a few questions to configure these new settings, and I'm wondering that you may be confusing the new authorization scheme for your old password.
When first running iOS7 after the upgrade it will ask you for (not your iPhone password) but your iCloud/Apple ID password.
Read the questions carefully and make sure that you're not confusing the two as prompted. You may not be, but this is my initial thoughts, as the install does not change any existing passwords but does link the hardware to iCloud to further prevent theft.

  • I need help re-installing my OS on a new hard drive. Having MAJOR issues with this simple task.

I have a MacBook Pro 15" (mid 2009) I recently needed to get a new hard drive for it, the old one stopped working. It came with OS X Snow Leopard already installed from Apple, and it also came with the install disks. I have booted up using the install disks and put OS X Snow Leopard back on the computer.
I tried booting with a USB install disk of OS X Lion (10.7) but had no luck on multiple occasions. It would only get through the initial step of the install and then say it couldn't download additional components needed for OS X
So finally, I decided to try a full erase and reformat of my brand new hard drive (less than a week old) and stated with the basic software that came with the computer. Installing that worked fine, until I tried to do a software update through the built in program. My computer refused to download 10.6.8 from the apple servers, so I had to find it on a 3rd party website. Once I found it and downloaded it, I finally got it installed. There were 12 more updates after I did 10.6.8 and none of them worked when I tried downloading and installing as a group. I had to do each one individually, the last one being a security update.
Up to this point, the Mac App Store didn't work (even after the 10.6.8 update), I couldn't download any of my previous purchases. I needed to download lion, to see if having it on the Mac hard drive itself would help with the install, but I couldn't do that until after the security update.
Other than that, the Mac worked normally except for during each start up, the apple logo would flash along with the forbidden sign and the folder with a question mark on it. It flashed for a few seconds randomly, then would boot up normally or say that my computer would need to be restarted.i figured this issue would be fixed after I successfully installed lion.
FINALLY I got the App Store to download lion, and began the install process. Halfway through the install, it failed and when I tried to restart the computer, it continuously flashes through those three symbols at startup. I can't get it to do anything else. I'm so ****** off I'm ready to just sell it for parts.
    My questions are:
          1. Can I install OS X Lion OR OS X Mountain Lion clean from the start after a full format of the hard drive?
          2. How do I go about installing clean and get my computer to stop flashing those symbols during start up?
*I have performed the Apple Hardware extended test and all systems are reporting normal function*

Okay, so, fast forward from July to now -
    - I've visited my closest Apple store's genius bar twice now. (Over an hour and a half away.)
    - My computer spent at least 8 hours behind their closed doors in the workshop
    - Several complete erases of the harddrive have taken place
    - Most of the Apple geniuses I dealt with were nice and very knowledgeable, but they were and still aren't 100% sure exactly what is wrong with my computer.
    The good news is:
    - They were able to at least get it running again, with a clean install from their servers of OS X Lion 10.7.5
    - They believe that my problems stem from either 1 of 2 things:
            - Faulty Hard Drive (even though it is brand new)
             - The wrong build of software being installed.
Now, while the wrong build does seem like it could be the problem, it doesn't make sense in the aspect that all of the initial problems began when the first hard drive failed. The same problems continued when I changed out the failed hard drive with the brand spanking new one, and only slightly improved when I was able to successfully install the OS that came with the original disks for my computer. I'm not convinced this thing is back to normal, but hopefully I can make it last through getting a shiny new retina Macbook Pro in the coming future. Thank you so much to everyone who read and replied to this post!

  • Initial Load Performance Decrease

    Hi colleagues,
We noticed a huge decrease initial load performance after installing an
    application in the PDA.
Our first test we downloaded one data object with nearly 6.6Mb that
corresponds to 30.000 registries with eight fields each. Initial Load
to PDA took only 2 minutes.
We performed a second test with same PDA after a reinstallation and
new device ID. The difference here is that we installed an MI
application related to same data object. Same amount of data was sent
to the PDA. It took 3 hours to download it.
In third test we change the application in order not to have the
related data object assigned to it. In this case, download took 2
    minutes again.
In other words, if we have an application with the data object
assigned, it results in a huge decrease in initial load.
In both cases we use direct connection to our LAN.
    Here goes our PDA specs:
    - Windows Mobile 6 Classic
    - Processor: Marvell PXA310 de 624MHz
    - 64MB RAM, 256MB flash ROM (190MB available to user)
    Any similar experiences?
    Thanks.

I am confused on downloading a data object with no application.
I thought you can only download data if it is associated to a Mobile Component, I guess you just assign the DMSCV manually?
In any case, I have only experienced scenario two when we were downloading application with mobile component with no packaging of messages.  we had maybe a few thousand records to download and process and it would take an hour or more.
When we enabled packaging, it would take 15-30 minutes.
Then I went to Create Setup Package because it was just simpler to install the application and data together with no corruption or failure of DMSCV not going operational and not sending data etc... plus it was a faster download using either FTP or ActiveSync to transfer the install files.
