Client Install Issue - SCCM 2012 R2 - Manual Deploy Installed ok

Hello, I have sccm 2012 configured with 2,000 machine approx. It is been used mainly as a Software Deployment tool for now. On checking a recent IE10 upgrade, I noticed that there is a number of machines that do not have the client installed (and thus did
not upgrade IE). I picked 1 machine, searched in SCCM - had no client. I checked all relevant settings:
Boundary for Client in question - ok
Local Client Settings (ip,dns,no firewall, ping sccm ok and vice versa etc).
Once i right clicked to deploy the client, it installed no problem. I checked the ccmsetup log file and the only info it had was from the time that the client was manually deployed (I will attach the log below anyway). I am really puzzled as to why the client
did not install and if this is the issue why IE is not upgrading (it is hard to pinpoint as there are 250 sites approx). The automatic install task works no problem on other machines once the machine goes online.
Any help, would be great. Here is the log (I am fairly new to SCCM btw):

    Hi,
how to find using SCCM SQL query,  application deployed on win 7 machines with SCCM 2012 server or user/technician installed manually. Please let me know.

Thanks, is it not possible via any script also?
Like Torsten said, how can you tell the difference between CM12 installed applications and locally installed? Once you can answer that, then you can write report.

  • SCCM 2012 Software Updates not installing (bothh Windows patches & 3rd party updates)

Using SCCM 2012 R2, I am having a problem getting Windows updates to install.  Applications published to people work, and basic software installations published to machines for a straight install work.  However, both Windows patches and Adobe patches
fail to install on clients. I have imported the Adobe catalog into SCUP, and publish through WSUS. I can see the Adobe patches and Windows patches in SCCM, and can publish them. However, in deployment status out of 4 machines in my test group the Windows patches
installed on 1 and the other 3 are still in Unknown status with category of "Client check passed/Active". However, none of them are installing the patch - they don't even seem to try.  All of those are Windows 7 PCs, incidentally. On Adobe patches,
one PC fails and the other 3 machines still sit in Unknown status.  Certificates are distributed,
Any ideas what might cause the deployment to not push some targets, even when it's past the deadline?
    Thanks,
    Andy Maslin

An unknown status means that the clients are not reporting back to ConfigMgr correctly. This is often due to the WUA not pointing at the correct WSUS instance. You can verify this by examining the WUAHandler.log on one of those clients and it will clearly
indicate an issue with this which in turn is often due to a group policy overriding the ConfigMgr behavior.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 unable to install Distribution Point on Windows 7

We have a SCCM 2012 R2 CU 2, single site. We would like to deploy the distribution point at 1 of the branch but hit with issues.
We tried various workaround. Reinstall IIS, manually install IIS.
We had repair WMI, and test WBEMTEST to the WMI and proof it able to connect, given security permission to everyone. Problem still persist.

  • Live meeting v806362.215 won't install with sccm 2012

I'm trying to install Live Meeting 2007 client v806362.215 under SCCM 2012 application model using the .MSI.  "I get a message that says the installer was interrupted before Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2007 could be installed.  You need
to restart the installer to try again." (see attached)
researching the message indicates that there was an issue with the elevated permissions (system account) that the install was trying to use.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • SCCM 2012 SP1 - OS Deployment - hash could not be matched for the downloded content

I've got a newly deployed SCCM 2012 SP1 running on Windows Server 2012. The W2K12 runs as vm on ESX 5.1. I'm having very odd issues with OS deployment. The TS keeps failing when processing SCCM client installation - it downloads the package but then it fails
straight away with the 80091007 - hash values couldn't be matched error - some extract from smsts.log attached below. It's very consistent, it happens every time - it downloads and applies the image fine straight after that it bombs out.
What is very interesting is that it works perfectly fine when I deploy vms (on the same or different host) - the issue seems to be be only affecting physical machines (laptops desktops). This might suggest some network issues (vSwitch with Cisco switches) but
the config on the switch is very simple and this shouldn't be the case.
I had a few virtualised SCCM 2007 installations (ESX 5 and 4) and it always worked with no problems.
I tried to recreate the package (changing source directory), turn binary differential replication on and off, copy the content of the package to the dist point or not copy. Push client installation (or other package deployments) work fine
When I tried to deploy with no download - sometimes it works but most of the time I'd get the files/folder corrupt error (can't remember the No)
This is starting to drive me crazy - There are some significant changes in the way SCCM 2012 is validating package integrity (like Content Lib folder) but the consistency of this problem is just very odd.
    Anyone has any clues?
    thanks

  • SCCM 2012 R2 - Updates not installing

    Hi all,
I have a SCCM 2012 R2 setup at a customer which has problems with distributing updates to the Windows 7 computers in the environment. The update group (with updates that are 100% sure required) is deployed to some test computers but the updates don't get
installed. It is also configured to be able to install the updates without looking at any maintenance windows.  I see in the reporting that the updates are required, so in my opinion they should get installed.
I've checked the registry and the Windows Updates registry keys are pointing towards the right server (my SCCM primary site server). I've created a new software update group with fewer updates, same problem.
What I find in the UpdatesDeployment.log on one of the test machines is rather strange:

  • How to manage Forefront Endpoint Prorection Security Client 2010 with SCCM 2012

    Hi
I've sucessfully installed System Center Configuration Manager 2012
and now I 'd like to push/deploy Forefront Endpoint Protection Client 2010 on client machines.I also know that Microsoft embedded Forefront Endpoint Protection in SCCM 2012 so that you can manage FEP from single SCCM 2012 console. Now
when I try to push FEP client on client machines using Default Client Settings
then I've found that all Endpoint Protection settings are greyed out !
Do I need to install Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 or 2012 Server (which is beta) with SCCM 2012, in order to deploy FEP client or is there a workaround or solution to resolve this ?
    Thanks
    Sohail

    Hi,
Endpoint Protection 2012 is builtin in SCCM 2012, you simply add the Site Role called Endpoint Protection either on your CAS if you have one of those or on your Primary site Server. FEP is no longer a standalone installer and it is a released product and
    no longer Beta.
Then the Endpoint Protection Client Settings will no longer be greyed out and you can deploy the System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection client.

  • Improvements for Client Remediation in SCCM 2012 R2

    Hello,
Is there any information available about Client Remediation improvements in SCCM 2012 R2 over previous versions?

If by previous version you mean ConfigMgr 2007, then yes, they added a health feature that runs as a scheduled task.
Remember though that nearly all agent health issues in ConfigMgr are not ConfigMgr's doing, they are the result of WMI. So really, it's about the OS you are using. If you are on XP (God help you) you are pretty much always going to have WMI issues for a
variety of reasons (including stupid user tricks). If you are on Win 7, then you're better off but you should also deploy KB2775511. Win 8, to my knowledge, is pretty solid as far as WMI goes.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 - Application Deployment - on startup

Hi, I would like to deploy Office 2010 Pro Plus and Lync 2013. Both packages have already been created and tested. I would like to set the install to occur on machine startup. Right now, if i add the machine to the AD Group set for the Lync and Office installs,
it installs randomly during the day on a test machine.
As I am new to SCCM, how can i set the install to occur on machine startup. It doesnt make sense to install Office during the day while a person is using it! I will be able to pinpoint which machines require Office 2010 installed before I install Lync 2013.
If you need anymore info from me, as the above may not be clear, please let me know
    Thanks
    SCCM 2012 R2/Windows 7 Enterprise/Office 2010 Pro Plus/Lync 2013

    Hi,
If you create the Office package as a package/program then you can set it to run on Computer startup, applications cannot be deployed that way.
However, using at computer startup often gives very low number on actual installs becuase if the user logs in directly when the computer startup the installation will not run.
I normally use PSAppdeploymen toolkit and prompt the user to close running office applications prior to the upgrade, then the user can postpone the installation as well and much much more.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 MDT 2013 Install Features after OS Install

I have a question in regards to installing Features on Windows Servers Post OS Install/OSD.
I have MDT 2013 integrated with SCCM 2012 R2. I have created a MDT TS doing the following:
Microsoft Deployment Custom Task Sequence (All other ones were for OSD)
I removed all the steps in the TS except for the "Use Toolkit Package"
Added Several MDT Sequence for Install Roles and Features, Selected SNMP for Server 2008, 2008 R2, 2008 R2 Core, 2012, 2012 R2.
Removed the boot image since it is not needed.
    Deployed to my Test Collection.
I see the TS Running on the test servers but when I check Server Manager the SNMP is still not installed even though software center shows installed on the TS.
Am I missing something here? Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks!!

Disregard my previous post. I was tinkering with the Compliance Settings and corrected my ignorance.
    Here were my steps:
    Create Configuration Item
General: Put the name, Set Type to Window, filter set to "Server"
Supported Platforms: All servers 2008 and newer
    Settings: Name,
    Discovery Script -PowerShell
    $FeatureName = "SNMP-Service"
    If (Get-WindowsFeature | Where {$_.State -eq "Enabled" -and $_.FeatureName -eq $FeatureName})
        $Compliance = "Compliant"
    Else {
        $Compliance = "NonCompliant"
    Return $Compliance
    Remediation Script - PowerShell
    $FeatureName = "SNMP-Service"
    Import-Module ServerManager
    Install-WindowsFeature -Name $FeatureName -IncludeAllSubFeature
Compliance Rule: Name, Rule Type = Value, Must Comply Equals Compliant, Checked Run remediation script when not compliant, set Reports to Information
Created Config Baseline, Assigned Config Item for SNMP Service and then deployed to my Servers.

  • Installing new SCCM 2012 infrastructure over an existing SCCM 2012 Infrastructure

    Greetings,
I currently have a standalone SCCM 2012 environment running in production.  This implementation isn't in a hierarchy and doesn't support Macs (non-PKI/HTTPS infrastructure), but is managing 1500 PC clients beautifully.
However, we have some sites out-of-state that need to be in their own Primary Site, as well as Macs across both sites need managing as well.
I have made a new environment entirely on 2012 infrastructure (2012 SCCM, 2012 Server, and 2012 SQL).  This includes a CAS at the top, a PRI for my current site, and SQL for both (all on different hardware, new names, etc.).  I've installed a PKI
infrastructure, and it's currently working fine managing the three servers it contains.
I need to start migrating all of the clients and services to the 'new' SCCM implementation, but pushing the SCCM client installs to over the old SCCM doesn't seem to change any settings.  Nor does changing site settings in the control panel of a client.
Anyone know how to configure new site settings without re-installing the SCCM clients on the 'old' infrastructure?
    Thanks~

Have you ever used group policy for site assignment? This caught me out when upgrading to a new site code. If it has ever been used, it brands the registry and no amount of tinkering in the configuration manager console or client installation methods could
    fix it.
To fix our site, I removed the offending GPO settings and set the 'GPRequestedSiteAssignmentCode', 'GPSiteAssignmentRetryDuration(Hours)' and 'GPSiteAssignmentRetryInterval(Min)' items under 'HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SMS\Mobile Client' to delete via GPP.
Details and symptoms I found at http://blog.coretech.dk/heh/new-agents-will-not-re-assign-to-configmgr-2012-site/.
    Jilhad,
Looks like most of the machines I was testing were indeed installed via GP before I was able to install via the console.
Deleting those registry keys allowed me to push the install over the old environment using 'Install Client' from the 'Devices' console, specifying to re-install client.
Now, I just have to figure out a script to remove those keys via SCCM
***Most of you were wondering why I was installing a CAS environment, it's really because this site doesn't conform all that well to our policies, and they will ultimately be administering their own environment.  It seemed to me that it would be easier
for me to delegate control/permissions/data using a hierarchy.  It was a tough decision, ***
Thank you all for your help!

  • Monitor model (Desktop Monitor) was not loaded in the client resource explorer | SCCM 2012

    Hi Everyone,
We have SCCM 2012 installed and configured. More than 2000+ computers have been installed SCCM client and manageable by SCCM server.
The inventory (Desktop Monitor) was not loaded in the client resource explorer (For some clients it got inventoried). Is there are possibilities that the Max file size might get exceeded the actual limit for the hardware inventory
which has to be increased in the registry?
    Please provide us a solution.
    Thanks in advance,
    Iniyan G

See dataldr.log on the site server. It would show .mif files that exceeded the file size. InventoryAgent.logon the client might also help.

  • SCCM 2012 SP1 fails to install OSD of Captured Image

I installed Windows Server 2012, Visual Studio Pro 2008, 2010, 2012 and SQL Server 2012 onto a machine. Configured the settings on Windows Server 2012 and SQL 2012 to how the Developers requested to be configured. Ran the Capture Media from SCCM 2012 SP1,
saved to the designated network share. Capture was successful.
I create a TS to deploy the image to the other Dev Servers but it reboots to say no valid operating system found. I checked Monitoring for the Deployment I see the Task sequence but has the following error: Device - Unknown, MessageID - 11170, Description
    - The task sequence manager could not successfully complete execution of the task sequence.
I see in the Apply Operation System from a captured image shows 1-1, 2-2, or 3-3. Does it matter which one I select and if so what does the numbers mean?
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!!

    Hi Blacksuit,
Those numbers of the captured image stand for the indexes that are part of your WIM.  And yes, it does matter which one you select.  In the ConfigMgr console, go to your Software Library > Operating Systems > Operating System Images and select
the image you imported into ConfigMgr.  Then at the bottom, click the Details tab to display your indexes.  The index that contains your OS will have an OS Version and a description.  The other indexes will be data images and not contain any
information in the Details tab.  You'll need to choose the index (number) that contains the OS for the Apply OS step.  To apply the data image indexes, use the Apply Data Image task sequence step and specify the partitions to apply the images
too before the Apply OS step.
    Good luck!
    -Matt
