Initial Parameter DB_WRITER_PROCESSES Does not Work

Sorry, I can't find my tips after replying.
My DB server version is Oracle 8.1.6.
The paramter dbwr_io_slaves is inactive. In test stage I use test server, most of which parameters are set as default value. So db_block_lru_latches = 1.
MY OS is Win2000 server.
I set the paramete because when I check v$system_event, I found the wait time of event db_file_parallel_write is very long. The time_waited is over 14 minutes and the average_wait is over 1 second.
Thanks and Best Regards,
Su Qian

  • Initial Parameter DB_WRITER_PROCESSES Doesn't work

    I set the initial parameter DB_WRITER_PROCESSES as 5 in init.ora file. But when I restarted the database, I found the parameter show as 1 and only DBW0 existed.
    I don't know the reason, would you please help me?
    Thanks and Best Regards,
    Su Qian

    Did you get a message in the alert log about starting dbwr processes failed?No, I havn't gotten the message.
    Also, having multiple writers on a single cpu system could bring performance down. I think one rule of thumb is to have 4 cpus per writer.Thanks for your message. I will not re-set the parameter.
    First, I'd like to let you know that the environment of my production database are as follows:
    OS: HP-UX
    Database Version: Oracle8 Enterprise Edition Release 8.0.4.2.1 - Production
    The setting of DB Block: 2K
    The main problem I come across is when running application the response speed of DB is very slow.
    The first step I adopted was checking free space. After checking I thought it was sufficient. But when I adopted the second step checking v$system_event, I found the wait time of following events is high.
    EVENT TOTAL_WAITS TOTAL_TIMEOUTS TIME_WAITED AVERAGE_WAIT
    db file parallel write 471 1 128370 272.547771
    log file parallel write 30307 0 51440 1.69729765 (For reference)
    pmon timer 37189 36806 11111071 298.773051
    rdbms ipc message 142737 112253 66295957 464.462312
    rdbms ipc reply 296 0 7167 24.2128378
    smon timer 372 369 11082933 29792.8306
    write complete waits 75 37 5149 68.6533333
    According to the above message, I decided to tune I/O first. Is my thought right?
    If dbwr is rather slow, these events should give som hints: free buffer waits, rdbms ipc reply, log file switch (checkpoint incomplete).Yes, when I had a look at the alert.log I found the error message: checkpoint incomplete. So I created a new log group.Perhaps the problem was too few log groups and not dbwr. If you do not have high free buffer waits dbwr should be ok :)I agree with you. I havn't high free buffer waits, so the main problem could be too few log groups. But I don't understand two points as follows.
    1. Last Friday I had 4 log groups and the size of every group is 2M. when getting the message "Thread 1 cannot allocate new log, sequence 87816 Checkpoint not complete", I created a new log group of 2M. Normally, this operation should improve performance, but when I observed the statistics I found the average wait time of "db file parallel write" became more longer. (Please refer to the following list)
    EVENT TOTAL_WAITS TIME_WAITED AVERAGE_WAIT DATE LOG_GROUPS
    db file parallel write 471 128370 272.547771 2002-08-05 5
    db file parallel write 798 88568 110.987469 2002-08-03 4
    2. I think the shortage of log groups is caused by the archive of log group don't complete before overwirting. From the alert.log file I found the time of log switch is about 20 minutes. From my viewpoint 20 minutes is enough for log archive. Why is the log groups still short?
    In addition, according to the setting of checkpoint parameters I think the checkpoint should occur only at the time of log switch.
    NAME TYPE VALUE
    db_block_checkpoint_batch integer 8
    log_checkpoint_interval integer 1000000
    log_checkpoint_timeout integer 0
    db_block_max_dirty_target integer 4294967294
    db_block_buffers integer 153600 (For reference)
    Do you know the meaning db_block_checkpoint_batch? (I can't find it in the document of 8i, because it is obsoleted.)
    From the alert.log file, I got the following errors.
    1. Fri Aug 2 17:10:36 2002
    Errors in file /lims/oradata/lab1/udump/ora_10976.trc:
    ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [1237], [], [], [], [], []
    (I got the error message occasionally.)
    2. Fri Aug 2 16:57:37 2002
    ORA-1652: unable to extend temp segment by 256 in tablespace TEMP
    (I don't understand it clearly, because the size of temporary tablespace is 400M. I think it is large enough.)
    3. Fri Jul 26 12:00:17 2002
    Thread 1 cannot allocate new log, sequence 87816
    Checkpoint not complete
    Current log# 1 seq# 87815 mem# 0: /u02/oradata/lab1/db/redolab101.log
    Looking forward your reply.

  • Sorting based on a parameter does not work

    Hi All
    I am using BI Publisher Reports with Siebel CRM 8.1.1.6. I have declared a parameter called "inputsort" in the CRM application as well as in the template by using <?param@begin:inputsort?> within the template. I can display the current value of the parameter using <?$inputsort?> without issues.
    However, when I try using this parameter for sorting, it doesn work:
    The report is created for a list of event attendees. When I do this, sorting works:
    <?for-each:EeventsEventCheckAttendee?><?sort:ContactLastName?>
    BUT when I do this, sorting does not work:
    <?for-each:EeventsEventCheckAttendee?><?sort:$inputsort?>
    although the parameter $inputsort does have a value of "ContactLastName".
    What could be the reason??

    never mind, I found the solution myself. For some reason, the correct way is:
    <?for-each:EeventsEventCheckAttendee?><?sort:./*[name(.) = $inputsort]?>
    I don't know why, but it works.

    This is a guess, but I suspect that ords_services.add_parameter() is not required at all.
    Also, your URL /demo_product_info/10/ should not have the trailing slash (according to your template URI).
    For more information, I suggest you look here:
    ords.3.0.0.343.07.58.zip\ords.war\scripts\migrate\core\ords_migrate.plb
    The migration package will show what is usually done for templates that already exist within APEX 4.2. I checked my templates and the ones with URI variables {in-curly-brackets} contain no records in apex_040200.wwv_flow_rt$parameters.

  • Date parameter does not work in SharePoint 2010 report using SQL 2008 Server Reporting Service

    Here is the settings:
    SharePoint 2010 with SQL server 2008 reporting services configured
    When create a report for a SP list using SQL server report builder (3.0) the date parameter does not work.
    The data parameter is set as "date and time" type and field name equals the col name in the SP list
    When run the report, the whatever dates I select, the result is always the same, so the parameters do not take any effect.
    Is any step missing?
    Thanks for any advice !

    Hi ,
    How did you configure you "date and time" type parameter and field name equals the col name in the SP list?
    Have you tested if other type parameter worked?
    Have you tried typing the date format as 20140722 in your date parameter filed before run the report?

  • F4 help on Parameter for ddic domain does not work

    Hello,
    I try:
    Parameters:  pa_waers TYPE WAERS.
    WAERS is a ddic data element for currencies and also a  domain with this name exists. The domain WAERS has a check table TCURC.
    When I press F4 for my field PA_WAERS in the Selection Screen, I assume a value help from the check table TCURC.
    I activated and re-generated my coding (as mentioned in the ABAP-Keyword help for "PARAMETERS") but it still does not work.
    Does anybody has a clue why this does this not work.
    The same thing is for a parameter:
    Parameters ..... type CTU_MODE.
    Domain CTU_MODE has value Fields (A, E, B) but also here on my program no F4 help occurs.
    Thanks in advance
    Stefan Berger

    A value table is assigned to a domain.  It becomes a check table when a foreign key relationship is established for a field in a table.  The field uses the data element and the data element uses the domain.
    For example, if you try:
    PARAMETERS: PA_WAERS TYPE EKKO-WAERS.
    You will get the F4 help you are looking for.  If you use tran SE11 and view EKKO, find field WAERS, use tab Entry Help/check and you will see that table TCURC has been established as a check table.  You can use the foreign key button to see the relationship that has been established between EKKO and TCURC.
    Also, domains cannot be used to type a field.  Your reference to CTU_MODE must be referring to a Data Element.  I tried this in a 4.7 system and the F4 works for me.  What version are you using?

  • Application Parameter does not work on migrating

    We have encountered this various times.
    When we add an application parameter to an existing application, it does not work on migrating.
    We have to make a new service (application) and then attach the parameter to it, then it works.
    What is the reason for this behavior?
    Eg: I added the parameter WDDISABLEUSERPERSONALIZATION and set it to X in development. Works fine there. On migrating to UAT, it does not work. What's amiss?
    Thanks in adv.

    Hi Aishi,
    maybe SAP Note [1332644|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1332644] "WDA Application Parameters are not changed in all clients" might be helpful in your case.

  • WF initiator in another client does not work

    Hi,
    I have created my WF and the first step is a user decision (yes/no). In this I use the &_WF_INITIATOR& as the addresse of the WI. It works fine in the development client but not in another client and I wonder why.
    When I check the protocol, system is telling me that there´s no agent available which is not true. I see in the container USxxxxxx and I also created an object in the container for passing the user name like USxxxxxxx and nothing. It does not work.
    What could the problem be ??
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I double-checked the task and it it general. I also checked the log for the step and there´s no WFINITIATOR nor WIACTUAL_AGENT.
    In the technical details I see that the workflow´s container has the WFINITIATOR with USxxxxxx and in the next step (user decision) there´s no such information nor WIACTUAL_AGENT. Based on this I corrected my WF for passing WFINITIATOR to WIACTUAL_AGENT in the step (using the data flow).
    The above does not work. I see now in the technical details  USxxxxxx for WIACTUAL_AGENT in the step but the protocol still tells me that there´s to agent.
    Any ideas ??

  • Minetest translation does not work on my machine.

    Hey there.
    After trying my luck in the official Minetest forums a week ago and got nothing more than the initial “try this-and-that” thing as response in the German discussion section and no reply at all in the regular discussion section I decided to ask on Reddit on last Saturday afternoon, too. On Reddit my question only got 3 upvotes and no comments.
    Since no-one seems to know what’s going on I decided to post my question here, too.
    It sems like the translation feature in Minetest does not work on my machine for unknown reason.
    The language files are there and according to it’s oputput and the PKGBUILD Minetest was compiled with gettext support. LANG and LC_MESSAGES are properly set (I even tried LC_ALL). Localization works properly in all other applications that support localization.
    Here’s some relevant system information.
    $ uname -rms

    According to the discussion in the German discussion section in the Minetest forums I tried to set language = DE (and variants like de_DE with or without .utf8 in all possible variants) in minetest.conf but it didn’t change anything. Since it seems to work for everyone else (otherwise there might be more replies to my quesions in several places, I guess *g*) I’m pretty sure that’s a local problem on my machine. But since gettext properly works on my machine in all and every application that use it I have no clue at all where to start debugging.
    Hints are highly appreciated Thanks in advance!
    Kind regards,
    Dirk

    Hi there...
    It gives me a URL that begins with http:// Safari does something strange, ie. flashes the page, and then complains about not recognizing photo://
    It seems that it has not figured out that it needs to open iPhoto 6.
    Regardless, the provided link is not viewable when cutting and pasting into safari, neither.
    I am using the latest and greatest 10.4.4, Safari is 2.0.3.

  • Bapi_document_create2 does not work correctly with attached file.

    Hi all.
    I hava a problem with bapi. I programmed below.
            ls_docdata-documenttype = 'BBS'.
            ls_docdata-description  = 'JJW test'.
            ls_file-documenttype = 'BBS'.
            ls_file-ORIGINALTYPE = 1.
            ls_file-storagecategory = 'ZSTW_KPRO'.
            ls_file-wsapplication = 'TXT'.
            ls_file-docfile = entity_filename.
            append ls_file to lt_files.
            CALL FUNCTION 'BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE2'
              EXPORTING
                documentdata       = ls_docdata
                PF_FTP_DEST = 'SAPFTP'
                PF_HTTP_DEST = 'SAPHTTP'
              IMPORTING
                documenttype               =      lv_documenttype
                documentnumber           =     lv_documentnumber
                documentpart                =     lv_documentpart
                documentversion           =     lv_documentversion
                return                           =     ls_return
              tables
                documentfiles     = lt_files.
            call function 'BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT'.
    If I don't attach the file, DIR is created but if attach some files, it does not work. What should I do??
    regards.

    Hi,
    You can use the below to attach the file from BSP to SAP. But it doesnt use the BAPI - 'BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE2'. It works perfectly for me. Let me know if you have any questions.
    Note: This code put the file into SAP Directory "/userapps/master_data/" as well as it upload the file into Transaction WTY since i am using Business object:BUS2222. You may need to modify the Business object if you ahve the one, otherwise you can just put it into SAP DIR.

  • VIEW_ENQUEUE does not work

    Hello;
    I try to lock and unlock a table using fm VIEW_ENQUEUE. Lock mechanism works and i observe an entry in SM12. Within another session i call VIEW_ENQUEUE again with delock parameter but it does not work; the lock is deleted only when the locking sesion is canceled. Is this the normal process or do i make something wrong?
    Thx in advance,

  • Unable to install "Mavericks" as it asks for my 'Admin Password" and it does not work. Have not used it since I got my iMac in 2008. First upgrade to do so. Any solutions please?

    I have a 2008 iMac which had Leopard initially and I have upgraded to each new OS without a hitch. I downloaded "Mavericks" and began the install, it asked me for my "Admin Password" which I have never ever used since I set the Mac up, I have it safely tucked away so entered it, it rejected it each time. Am sort of lost now, as if my "Admin P/W" does not work here can I go from here?
    I have seen many others with this problem but so far most of the solutions seem to be for the "log in" or "User" password not the Admin one.
    I am running Mountain Lion successfully.
    I have my original disks as supplied and also a Snow Leopard install disk.
    I have seen some info about fixing this via Lion Recovery partition which I must have due to using Mt Lion.
    How can I repair this situation.
    Thank you to all those who respond.

    Thanks for your reply.
    I have visited both the sites you listed but it seems to me that the solutions mentioned are to fix the User or log in p/w's.They do not seem to refer to the admin one again.
    I understand about it being just like other user accts but the fixes do not really refer to it only the above two.
    I have no problem booting up my Mac, I do not use a log in p/w so my problem is with the Admin p/w that was set up back in 2008. This is what I need to reset etc.
    I am quite confused over these pw's as to just what is what and I need to make sure I understand all before I get into deeper trouble following these links.
    This Admin p/w that was set up has never been used and is the only p/w I have except for my Apple ID. All previous upgrades only required my user name log in which has no p/w set up.
    I hope you can follow me here butI have read so much on this it is becoming very confusing about whcih p/w's are what.

  • Logout does not work in OIM after enabling OAM SSO

    We have installed a webgate to protect xlWebApp in OIM. Once the SSO is enabled, the logout does not work in the OIM user interface. How to solve this issue?
    Metalink has a solution where we need to add document.location="http://host:port/access/oblix/lang/en-us/logout.html"; in xlWebApp\tiles\tjspLogoffTiles.jsp. This is the logout URL of OAM. Is there any other way so we can have a logout page in the OIM application/server itself?
    Thanks.

    Kevin,
    I did what you suggested and initially it looked like it is working but there is slight issue. When I click Logout, it redirects to the logout screen. After logging out when I try to access xlWebApp it prompts for the login (i am using basic authentication). If I cancel it and again try to access xlWebApp, it lets me in without any prompt. This issue is in IE only but not in Firefox. Not sure what's the issue.
    Btw, to make the logout screen work, I had to unprotect the following with None Authentication:
    - /xlWebApp/pages/logout.html      (logout page)
    - /xlWebApp/images
    - /xlWebApp/css/Xellerate.css
    - /xlWebApp/css/style.css
    Thanks.

  • Solved rEFInd does not work after update

    Hello.
    Today, I updated rEFInd with yaourt.
    After the update, I copied the new files in /boot/efi.
    I rebooted and now rEFInd does not work.
    The only message I got is:
    rEFInd - Initializing
    After 2-3 minutes, the computer reboots and I got the same error message.
    To boot, I had to use the UEFI shell.
    First of all, is there a log file for rEFInd?
    It is not easy at all to debug it when we don't have any error messages.
    After that, I did the procedure to install rEFInd in /boot/efi twice without any success.
    Do you know what to do to solve my problem?
    Thanks for your help.

    Src package: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9710721/refind- … src.tar.gz (will compile only in x86_64 system)
