Ink cartridges expiration

I just opened these cartridges and installed them and they worked fine until the printer finally checked the expiration date.  Now I have full ink cartridges I can't use.  The ink was so wet that I had to dry the pages before I could crop them.  Please helpa!  These are expensive and I dont live close to a office supply.  I need to print more now!!!!!!!

Hi, what printer model do you have?

  • Ink Cartridge expiration

I have several HP 57 cartridges that are sealed in original packaging, but not the box.  How do I find the expiration date with these sets of numbers....SGA2 110200 090817 1912?  and if they are expired, are they still useable?

The "expiration" date on #57 cartridges is the end of warranty date, it does not mean the cartridges will not work or be rejected.  You can check the date as shown in the document here.
Depending on how the cartridges have been stored they may have print quality issues if the cartridges are very old.

  • How do I override expired black ink cartridge error on d145

My All in One d145 printer started to show a black ink supply expired error.  I replaced the old black ink cartridge with a new one but it too is expired.  It was new and still in plastic so the ink should still be good.  When I get the error the message window says to hit enter and continue printing but then it just sits there (and doesn't print).  I have to cancel the print job to get back to the time and date window.  How can I override the expired ink supply error.
I have tried to reset the computer date but this doesn't work (seems like a lousy workaround anyway).  Neither does resetting the printer date (in fax settings).
I've read something about resetting the internal clock battery in the printer but am not sure if this will work on a d145 or how to do it.
I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO GO OUT AND BUY A NEW INK CARTRIDGE - the one I have now was new and in protective plastic.
HELP me to make it work.  And Thanks

This is the only place in the entire HP world that I have found any mention of expiry dates, the tables are what I have been looking for in relation to a deskjet 3050 and cartridge 301 which I am considering buying. Where can I access this information for the 3050/301 combination?
The ink expiration is only an issue for printers with separate ink supplies and printheads.  There is no expiration with the Deskjet 3050 or the 301 cartridge.   There is an "end of warranty" for these supplies as described here, but that is not an expiration.  The cartridges have a shelf life, for longest life in storage keep the package oriented as it would be hanging on a store display and keep away from heat sources during storage.  I have used similar cartridges years beyond their end of warranty without issues.

  • Officejet 4620 Brand new HP Black ink cartridge and it won't print black at all

Greetings, my printer recently ran out of ink. So I purchased a set of cartridges from Staples. I installed them and ran the Clean Printhead function. I now have great color and NO BLACK. I ran the clean printhead function numerous times. Its so frustrating to watch the evolution of printers over the last 2 decades go from reliable to unreliable all for the purpose of financial gains. I've had printers since the 80's, I used printers when they came with ribbon cartridges, which hardly failed, though they would indeed dry out. At least when they did dry out you would be able to put a new one in and continue. Now they have engineered replaceable printheads (because they were made knowing they will fail), ink cartridges that are not interchangeable (knowing that once you've had it with one printer model, you'll most likely switch to another brand or model) which uses a DIFFERENT model ink cartridge. All for finacial gain. Between my office and home, I've been through 4 printers in the last 2 years. I was a loyal Lexmark fan, untill my old one died and I purchased a new one, first thing I noticed was the changeable printhead, and I said to myself, uh oh, thats going to fail, and so said, so done, within 3 months of using the printer, Lexmark sent me 2 printheads and 2 sets of replacement inks free of charge. I still have a set of ink and a printhead because the LCD screen went blank, lol. Had to toss it. Ended up switching to HP which I believe is made in the same factory as Lexmarks after much comparison of models. Now I have the newest HP at my office and its been great thus far and SUPERB on ink usage, THUSFAR. I'm almost afraid to find out what my future has in store. I know I ran on alot off topic, BUT HP, YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES. I've now wasted $60 on a new set of cartridges and will most likely need a new printer since my warranty is expired. SMH. Bad Business!!!!

Is your printer still in warranty? You can check with HP's warranty tool here.  Are you located in the US?

  • HP 7280 all-in-one says ink cartridges are empty and will not print from PC, but it copies fine.

Replaced 2 ink cartridges in hp 7280 but still says both cartridges are empty and will not print from PC, but it will copy fine.  When I try to print I get a error box that says "Ink cartridges empty - replace black and yellow ink cartridges to continue."  They are brand new - just bought them - expiration date Sep 2015.  Have tried rebooting and disconnecting and reconnecting everything.  Same error, but it still will do color copies fine - all cartridges are working.  Help?!

    Hi tfmartin,
I understand you have a Photosmart C7280 that you are unable to print to from your computer. I'm sorry to hear about this, but I will certainly do my best to assist you in resolving this issue.
Before I can offer any suggestions I do need to know which version of Windows or Mac that you're using and how the printer is connected (wireless or USB). Once I have that information I should be able to help you better. In the meantime, if you're using Windows, please download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor to see if it can assist with the issue at hand
Hope to hear back from you soon! Have a great day

  • My HP2575 give's "Ink Cartridge Problem - Remove and check cartridge on right"-error

    Hello,
I have a HP photosmart 2575 all-in-one. For just a couple of month's I use my black 339 cartridge and suddenly it give the error "Ink Cartridge Problem - Remove and check cartridge on right", with means the black cartridge. I always use original HP cartridges and have never filled them by myself or other people. Because the expire date is just a couple of weeks late, HP won't support me.  For now I put a new cartridge in the printer, with works fine. How can I solve this problem with my cartridge? It has enough ink for many prints to make, so I don't like to throw that away. I hope you can help me with tis matter.
    Thanks a lot.

  • Replace Empty Ink Cartridge message flashes after the cartridge has been replaced

Printer is C61P50 All in One.
Has been printing black only, but this morning it said it could not continue unless the empty Magenta cartridge was replaced.   I bought a new one, installed it, and still get the same message.
Occasionally I get another about the light blue cartridge ink being expired.   That I can clear by hitting OK, but then I am back to being hung up on the supposedly empty magenta which I have already replaced with a brand new one.

  • Unopened Ink Cartridges Past Date Printed on Package

While cleaning out my office I found a couple of unopened  blister packs of HP #14 ink cartridges for my old Office Jet.  The date printed on the cartridges is April 2005 for the pack of Tri-Color (product C5010DN) and Feb 2007 for the Black (product C5011DN).
Will they work as new if installed in a compatible printer, or will 'override' have to be used?

What printer model do you have?  This page discusses which printers are affected by ink expiration.  I would expect the ink that is five years beyond the "install by" date would likely have some issues even if the printer would accept it as it has likely thickened over the years.

  • HP ink cartridges

I just exchanged my HP 3700 printer for another HP printer. They don't take the same ink cartridges. I have total of 8 that I need to exchange for cartridges that will work with new printer. Who do I sent them to? My case # is 807-0506642, they said you would take care of exchange or refund. Please advise. VL120

Hi, All of them should have expiry dates printed. Nearly all printers won't accept expired cartridges anyway. Regards.

  • Non hp ink cartridges

My ink cartridges for my hp photosmart 6520 lasted a very short time so replaced them with non HP cartridges which were compatible. I get the well reported warnings that I am invalidated my warranty but the main issue is that my iPad will not print to the HP printer as it states that there is no ink. all the cartridges are full and direct printing works fine. I have downloaded the hp printing app but something seems to be stopping the iPad sending the print job to the printer.
could it be that as the cartridges are non Hp it thinks there is no ink and therefore does not send print job.
    any help much appreciated

Hi!, DaveB1: The original's cartdridges have a impressed circuit, what store many information, over the printer. If you extract from printer and replace with other non-original, you cann't see the remanent ink and out of warranty. Each cartdrige have date of expired warranty. You must see, if change with other original, this date, in the external case. All cartdridge are 564XL, with the date, of warranty. Please, see ... www.youtube.com/watch?v=9AVba_km2Oc

    Hello schrec,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I see you have some questions regarding Instant Ink, I would like to do my best to answer them for you. You will get separate notifications for each cartridge.
Once you install the first Instant Ink cartridges, the account is now active. There fore, it is best to install both inks into the printer. To store your opened cartridges, this guide should proved the best means of doing so.

  • Dates on HP Ink Cartridges

Hi, i have recently found a box of ink cartridges with the date 2006 on them.  Are they ok to use still or should i throw them away?

Depends on the printer you're using. If you got a printer which uses cartridges with integrated printheads, then it's worth giving it a try. If you have a printer where the ink tanks and printheads are separate, and it's better to not try those cartridges. The date on the box denotes and 'Install By' date, which is usually 6 months before the expiration of the cartridge warranty.

  • HP Deskjet 1510 Tri-color Ink Cartridge Error

I just bought a HP Deskjet 1510 back in August and I loaded the HP original ink cartridges that come with the purchase. For the first 5 print jobs it was working well, but somehow after a while my laptop and the printer itself just kept warning that there's low ink level in the cartridges (especially the tri-color one). I haven't even got to use the tri-color cartridge much as I've been printing in grayscale ever since I've used this printer.
I've tried taking the cartridge out and putting it back in again; sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I thought it might be a contact issue so I cleaned those parts too but it didn't change anything.
It's getting extremely frustrating as I'll have to do this for god knows how many times for every single page I print or copy. This happens to the black cartridge too but 90% of the time it's the tri-color cartridge.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

Hello @ut32w , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I hope you had a great holiday!
I understand from reading your post that you are running into cartridge errors.  I'd like to help!
I would first suggest removing the ink cartridges, and performing a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also recommend running through the steps listed in the document below:
