Input text in scrolling area

I am working on a site in Flash and the content is within a
scrolling area. On one of the pages I am making a form using input
text but when I publish the file you are not able to type anything
in the input boxes. Does anyone have any idea why this could be
happening? You can preview the file online at

and the form is on the Contact Us page. Sorry if I posted this in
the wrong area, but I think it may be a problem with
ActionScript.

Generated text captions say "scroller area"

When I record a simulation in training mode, it inserts the captions, highlights and click boxes whenever I click something, but in most cases is unable to read the labels and every caption says "Click the scroller area" instead of the name of the link or button.
So I am wondering what Captivate uses to determine the labels for those captions. I'm recording a web application, so if there is something I can tell our developers to add (such as alt text or title tags) I'd love to know that. Or is it something in my settings?

How Captivate detects thenames of objects being captured is often a bit mysterious and seems to differ with each application or website.
Windows-based apps seem to follow some kind of standard that Captivate understands reasonably well. But once you start capturing other more exotic types of software, and web apps in particular, then all bets are off.
There is a file in the Captivate install directory with RDL file ending that contains the definitions for various types of objects and this file stipulates what Captivate will say about them in the caption text. You can change this RDL file to suit your own requirements. It's really just a text file. But always keep an unedited backup copy in case you screw up.

Input Text Clear Button

Hello,
On an Input Text, under Options, it lists "Clear Button". What is this, and how do I use it? The default selections are true and false, but they don't seem to change anything.

Odd. It behaves like you said, but only in Single Line Mode, not Password or Multi-Line. Is it like that for you as well?

How to get input text values from adf table - Urgent

Hi Friends,
This is my requirement. I designed customized master - detail - detail page. I customized the page in below format.
1. Master Data Field (Input text,etc) .
2. Detail in table format ( Rows are mapped to child table) and i given two buttons for to create row and delete row. I designed the table based on the example provided in forum for to create customized table. The input text component is mapped to the rows.
Now i want to retrieve all the data's entered in the rows. The table is mapped to child table. When i read the values from the table its showing null.
If any one faced this problem and fixed it, please send me the solution.

Did you look into the valueChangeEvent?
It has oldValue and newValue attributes.

The names of your variables, "name_txt", for instance, should
NOT have quotes around them. Use:

Getting Error when adding a Message Input Text field

How to allow input text field to accept more than one "specific" answer.

I am working for something and trying to create a type-box-based quiz for one of my classes, where an input text field can change it's border color if 2 or more words from an accepted word list is inputed.
For example, Say a list has possible answers: R,G, B, Y for the question "Name 2 colors".
I want to create an input text box where the border of the box will change color if any 2 letters (in the above list) are entered into it.
I've tried setting up a variable NumberSuccesses and setting it so that the number increases by 1 for each letter entered e.g.
if (Ex.text == "R");
NumSuc = NumSuc +1; // the var NumSuc has already been defined earlier in the code
If (Ex.text ''G")
NumSuc = NumSuc + 1

but that didn't work.. and I tried doing it with another function which I use for multiple input boxes like if there were boxes A, B, C. I could set up a general function where if the correct answers were entered into A, B, an C respectively, only then will say, a checkmark show up using a
EnableCheckmark (); type function. Not sure how to do it if it's the same text input box though. Also just tried adding it into the same function re.

How to maintain focus in input text box?

I am a complete newbie with Flash MX, ActionScript, and
everything in between. So here's my situation.
I want to make it so the user has to type in a password to
move forward with the Flash presentation. When he presses OK, it
takes him to further into the presentation (i.e. Frame 20).
On my login screen, I have a couple of layers that are
animated. Thus, I need these animations to keep looping. So what
did I do? At the end of the animation, I put in code to
GotoAndPlay(1).
Now here's the problem... When someone's trying to type in
the password, when it loops (Gotoandplay), the input box loses
focus. To remedy this situation, for frame 1, I put in the code:
Selection.setFocus("txtPassword").
What happens? Everytime it sets focus, everything gets
highlighted in the input text field.
As you can imagine, it is a headache for anyone who is trying
to type in the password because every few seconds, the whole thing
gets highlighted and he accidently types over it.
Any suggestions?

1. copy the frames of your looping animation.
2. create a new movieclip and paste those copied frames onto
this movieclip's timeline
3. from your library drag a copy of the above movieclip to
frame 1 of your main timeline and attach a stop() to that frame.
4. place your login textfield and ok button on frame 1 of
your main timeline.
5. when ok is pressed (and login) passes some condition
direct your main timeline to frame 20.

Using input text that's in a MC

Hi all -
Tearing my hair out on this, and it seems like it shouldn't be that difficult.
I've got an input text box (opAnswerTxt) that I've added to a movie clip (questAns) using AS3:
questAns.addChild(opAnswerTxt);
That's fine -- I'm able to type text into the text field. Now I need to trace this text. (Ultimately, I will want to capture the text in a variable and then reuse the text in a dynamic text field, but just tracing to make sure I can get the text first.)
I added a button (opSaveBtn) - also to the MC - and added an event listener to the button:
questAns.addChild(opSaveBtn);
opSaveBtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, saveOpInput);
but can't seem to trace the input text. Here's what I'm using:

trace (opAnswerTxt.text);
My output is the original default text I have in the text box, rather than the text I just typed in.
When I add the input text box to the stage, rather than to the MC, it works fine.
Note: I've tried targeting the instance -- see the following -- but I get an error.

Also tried trace (MovieClip(root).questAns.opAnswerTxt.text) and that didn't work either.
Can anyone help?

Thanks for your quick response. You may be right on this. The MC (and child text box and button) are all within a loop that's parsing an external XML file.
Basically, I'm trying to create a "form". The questions are in the external XML file (so they can be updated by the customer later). I've got a loop that's parsing the XML file and creating an MC for each question element it finds. Each MC has a question text field (dynamic - populated from the XML), an answer text field (the input text field), and a save button. Here's the code:

The two things I need to solve are:
1. I want to be able to "save" the input text in each of the input fields, so if the user navigates away from this frame, the text they input last time isn't lost. Ideally, I'd like all of the input text fields to display whatever text they entered last time -- but they should still be an input field so they can edit the text if they want.
2. I want to be able to print (or save to a text file) ALL of the question and answer text fields. I believe I need to create a separate print job MC for this?

ADF Mobile: How to change the font size of an Input Text field in .amx view

Is there a way to change the font size of the input data (not the label) in a text field? Changing the font size in the Style Font/Text settings doesn't seem to do anything for the label or the value in the input text field. Is this a bug or is there a way to get this to work?

Hi Anna,
depending on the UI element there are a range of ways. (and I'm sure people will post plenty of answers to tell you how).
However, if generically the fonts in you portal/wd applications are too small, you should consider changing your theme so as to have larger texts. Otherwise you will either need to customise all your applications, or you will get quite a lot of inconsistency of presentation between your various WDA applications.
Do a search on "themes for Web Dynpro ABAP" and you'll find loads of resources.

Problem with action script 3 make input text box and button....

Hi every one I am trying to make a family book using "Air for Android" with a simple search engin in the book
air for android only work with AS3,
the search function is to type a person's name and hit submit then go to a specific frame.
have a problem making below code to work in AS3 and hopefully one of you guys can lead me in the right direction to fix the issue.
Currently, I have an input text box and a button. When you type specific words into the input box and then hit the button it sends you to a specific frame.
(it work find in AS2 but not in AS3,)
Here is my current code that is placed on the main timeline, first frame:

you should use the default option in the switch statement
that way yourname contains something not in one of the case statements it will go to the default bit and execute teh code there

Adobe Reader 9 highlights text when scrolling in terminal server

Running a terminal server with WIndow 2003. Have Adobe 9 Reader installed. When a pdf is opened, it will look correct. However, when one uses the scroll bar on the right to see more of the document, text can be highlighted and change colors constantly when scrolling.
Test it outside of terminal server and it works fine. This issue did not happen with other versions of Reader. I have attached two samples one clean and one highlighted.

Okay. Here is what I found. These settings are changed\saved under the User settings in the registry. Here is the key the changes are made to:
HKCU\Software\Adobe\Adobe Reader\9.0\Originals
When "NONE" is selected from Adobe Reader - Edit - Preferences - Page Display - Rendering, three DWORD values are added to the above mentioned registry key. These are:
Value Name - Value Data
*bAntialiasText - 0
benableDDR - 0
iAntialiasThreshold - 12*
I have added these lines to a login script that adds the necessary DWORD values to default the "Rendering" to NONE.

Instance name and Var for Input Text fields

I have several Input Text fields, as a form, linked to a PHP
script for which I require Var's for each field.
But I also need Instance names for each field, so I can fix
the tabIndex.
Yet, everytime I test my movie, the text fields have their
Paths (_level0.fName) written in them.
They are normally blank, and I've tried putting in some text
of my own, but the Var name is still displayed in the text fields.
Is there any way I can stop that from happening, and keep
both the Instance names and Var's in-place.
As far as I know, I need both the Instance name (for the
tabIndex) and the Var (for the PHP script) or is there a way that
the tabIndex and PHP script will work with either of the two?

Can you use a different name for ‘instance name’
and ‘var’? That seems to solve the problem but I
don’t know if that helps you in your situation.

Hiding first record from database in input text fields.

I have 2 pages, a main page and a popup page. The main page has attributes from a VO in the form of input texts (I just dragged individual attributes) and a link that brings up the popup page. On the popup page I have an ADF Search Form and a Read-Only Table with selection. A user is able to search for records in the database then select the result and submit that row back to the main page which populates the input texts. When you first load the main page, the input texts that are linked to the VO iterator are already populated with the first row in the database. Is there a way to hide these values (but not the entire text fields) until after the user has searched from the popup?

thanks much for the replies. Luc, I tried adding that Refreshcondition to the iterator in the pagedef and the result was when I ran the page, the textboxes and record would be gone but the label remained (close but I still need the empty box to show). Also, after running a search in the dialog box and submitting the result back to the main page, the values would still not show up, it just looked the same as when I first run the page.
Did I put the RefreshCondition in the wrong place, or is it something else?
