Insert 2rows in an excisting excel file

Hi everybody,
Sorry if a similar question was asked but I haven't found it.
My problem is that we got a file where there are some information . And at all end of the month we will run a java application that will give us 2times 10 values that we will save in that excel file. But I can't found an example where I can open the existing file and add this values to the end of the excel-sheet. End of the excel sheet means search the last entry and add it after that.
I have an example for the moment that will copy the existing file to a new excel file with a different filename but i wanted to make it on the same file.

java/excel questions dont usually get answered here.
java doesnt come with a library to interoperate with ms office.
you can google for "apache poi". perhaps they have a forum.
if you want a good chuckle look into why the poi library refers
to excel files as hssf. ;)

Hi
You can use the[b] jakarta POI api in order to read/write Excel file from java. Pure Java, no drivers nedeed.
I tested and ok.

Insert statement not work for Excel file

Hi,
In my JDBC application, I have a "INSERT ..." statement to add a new recode to a Excel file. When I run this application, the statement is executed successfully(no Exception), however the excel file doesnot change at all.
I am still able to run "SELECT ..." from the excel file, I am really confused.
Anybody could help me on this?

How do you see that the Excel file hasn't changed?
Do a select on the new record?
Open / Reopen with Excel?
Look at the file size?
What if you close your connection? Is a change apparent then?

i am wondering that what is the best way to insert massive data into an existing excel file, more performance perspective.
the file is read from BDS , and we want to insert data into it .
the way i can think of is
1. OLE AUTOMATION
   i think performance will be a big problem
2. Office integration
    i am not sure it's facing the same performance issue ?
3 . XXL_SIMPLE_API/FULL_API
    I am not sure whether they can insert data into an existing excel file?

If you want to APPEND data( add data to an existing excel file) from SAP, then use GUI_DOWNLOAD fm with APPEND = 'X' paramter.

If you don't want to get into EXCEL class & its propert node, then simplest way is to RECORD the macro of inserting symbolin EXCEL.
The copy the generated VB code & use it in LABVIEW by using EXCEL MACRO VIs.

Open an Excel file to read and load it into Oracle - Oracle COM Automation

Hello All,
Please I need your help for this problem:
I need to load Excel sheet data (read the data) and load it into Oracle database (insert into a table), the excel file created and has data before, and saved with xls format. and I need to do that using the Oracle® COM Automation (ordcom package). The examples I found open and create a new workbook and deletes the old saved data, so I need to open (edit) the sheet just for reading.
I appreciate ans sample code to help me do that, Please help me out. This is very urgent.

For reading from Excel, there are some easy ways like Oracle Heterogenious Services. If you want to use COM then:

I'm trying to take a query object and insert the data into an Excel file. I've tried the CFCONTENT/CFHEADER route, and I get the error message about the file not being the same type as the extension.
Is there a better way to get data into an Excel file?

Allow me to edit this so that it actually makes sense.
What I just described was with the CFOUTPUT, not CFTEXTAREA CFSPREADSHEET.
Now that I've switched to CFTEXTAREA CFSPREADSHEET with the new type, it does not matter if I open or save the file, it is blank, 0 bytes. If I save it to desktop and open it, I still get the error message that the file is not the same as the extension claims. The data is there, CFTEXTAREA CFSPREADSHEET just isn't putting any into the file.
It's been a long day.

From your description, it sounds like you are trying to attach a Word or Excel document to a project, or to insert the Word or Excel document into the project. If that is the case, you actually need to attach the Word or Excel document to a task in
the project. There are several ways to do this, but in either case you first need to open the project to which you want to attach the Word or Excel document. You can then use one of several methods, which are:
Click the View tab to display the View ribbon. In the Data section of the View ribbon, click the Tables pick list button and select the More Tables option. In the More Tables dialog, select the Hyperlink table and then click the Apply button.
For any task in the project, enter the hyperlink to the Word or Excel document in the Hyperlink column for that task.
Double-click a task and then click the Notes tab. On the Notes page of the Task Information dialog, click the Insert Object button. In the Insert Object dialog, select the Create from File option and then use the Browse button to navigate to
the folder containing the Word or Excel document. In the Browse dialog, select the Word or Excel document and click the Insert button. In the Insert Object dialog, select the Display As Icon checkbox. You can also select the Link checkbox if you
want to create a shortcut to the document rather than embedding the document in your Project file. Click the OK button when finished.

Inserting pictures in excel file

Hi,
I want to create an excel file and insert some data and images in the file
thru LabVIEW. There is no problem in writing data but I am not able to insert
the pictures into the file. I got the following code for inserting picture in
excel thru the VB editor but I am not able to find the corressponding
property/method to implement it in LabVIEW. Can anyone help me?

You need to work with the invoke node range (from the worksheet) and the propery shapes of Excel to insert a picture. Here is a little screenshot of how I did it.

Looping multiple excel files at a time in ssis and create a new column to insert the files names

i have one requirement.
I got around 200 excel files with date as file name like 120101.xls, 120102.xls (YYMMDD).
I am able to loop all the files and insert data but i am unable to load the files names using ssis.
Please can any one help to fix this using script task or any other code..

Your ForEach Loop task must be returning the entire file path, I suppose.
1. Get the file name from your file path.
New variable: FileName
Expression : RIGHT(@[User::FilePath],FINDSTRING(REVERSE(@[User::FilePath]),"\\",1)-1)
2. Inside Data flow, after Excel source use Dervied Column and use above @FileName
3. At your OLEDB destinition, use MyFileName.

You don't need us to give you an example, as the example already comes with LV. Go to Help>>Find Examples and search for "excel". You will find an example called "write table to XL". You should note that the example doesn't do that exactly, because it writes a 2D array from 2 to N.
You can modify the example by using only one for loop (instead of nested loops) with a 1D array or by going into the Set Cell Value and modifying it to accept a second cell value for the Cell2 terminal and wiring in a 1D array instead of the single string. If you do modify it, be sure to save it under a different name, so you don't overwrite the original.
To learn more about LabVIEW, I suggest you try searching this site and google for LabVIEW tutorials. Here and here are a couple you can start with. You can also contact your local NI office and join one of their courses.
In addition, I suggest you read the LabVIEW style guide and the LabVIEW user manual (Help>>Search the LabVIEW Bookshelf).

Hi,
xlsx is not supported with BusinessObjects due to that you are not able to find xlsx extension files.
workaround is to save the excel file with xls extension.
