Insert a graphic into a fillable pdf

I used WordPerfect X7 to create a fillable PDF timesheet for my son to email to his employer. The sheet requires a signature on each line and the number of days he works each week is flexible. I have created  a jpg file containing his signature. Is there a way to set up the fillable PDF to add the graphic to each line as it is needed?

What application are they using to fill in the form? If Reader then they can use the Place Signature tool.

  • When I try to convert an existing Word intake form into a fillable PDF, I get an unexpected error.

When I try to convert an existing Word intake form into a fillable PDF, I get an unexpected error message and it will not convert.  I am using Adobe XI Pro.  Any thoughts on why this is occuring.  I would like to avoid creating an entire new form from scratch.  If this doesn't work, I will not be purchasing the full version of the software as none of my Word files seem to be converting.

I used the document which I downloaded from Adobe called "Convert and existing form into a fillable PDF form with Adobe Acrobat XI".
At tope right , Tools pane
Open the Forms panel, Click Create
Select Existing Document and click Next
    Choose Word file
Error: "An unexpected error occurred. PDF Maker was unable to produce the Adobe PDF."
I have tried several of my forms and none of them work.  There is no word attachment option to show you an example.
    Thanks

  • Can an image be uploaded into a fillable pdf?

In creating a fillable pdf document is there a way to allow an image to be uploaded onto the document?

OK, there is a method that you can use to import an image into a form with Reader 11, but it has to first be converted to PDF, which is relatively easy to do these days. It involves using a simple JavaScript as discussed here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4943623
That's really just the minimum and you would typically add additional code to detect what PDF viewer is being used and warn the user if it's not sufficent.
Here's another thread with more discussion: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/743823
The alternative is to create an XFA form in LiveCycle Deisgner, which allows an image field that can be used to import a JPEG, PNG, TIFF, or GIF. It will work with previous versions of Reader. LiveCycle Designer came with the Windows version of Acrobat Pro prior to Acrobat 11, but is a separate product now.

  • Insert XML Data Into An Existing PDF Form

I am working on an application, written with XHTML and JavaScript, and running on AIR, so it is a desktop application.
Users enter data into an XHTML form and upon submission I create an XML file of the data using JavaScript.
At any later time users will be able to open the XML file from the application. I will use JavaScript, again, to read the XML and fill in an XHTML form. But at this point I will provide a button for users to generate a PDF with the data. I would then like to insert the XML data into the appropriate fields of the existing PDF form. I would like to continue to do this from within the AIR application using JavaScript.
    Is this possible?
What version of Acrobat would I need as the developer? Professional or Standard or Other or None?
What version of Acrobat would the end users need? Professional or Standard or Other or None?
Can this all be done using only JavaScript and the Acrobat SDK? Does using AIR offer any help (all Adobe products)?
When the end user clicks the generate PDF button would Acrobat have to open? Can this be done without the user seeing Acrobat open? Either way is ok, I would just like the user to see an alert saying that the file has be generated and point them to its location on the local machine. But again, this is not a requirement.
    Thanks in advance.
Not asking for source code here, just if its possible. :)
    I'll figure out the how.

    You have two choices
    1) You can use JavaScript in your AIR application to communicate with the JavaScript in the PDF to fill in the form directly. This can all be done inside of your AIR app. This is certainly the best route to go and there is (IIRC) a sample in the AIR SDK.
    2) You can create an XFDF file from your XML data and then have Acrobat/Reader open the XFDF file to fill in the data.
Both methods will work with Acrobat and Reader - HOWEVER, Reader users won't be able to save the PDF unless it has been Reader Enabled.

  • Inserting excel doc into word or pdf doc

I'm putting together a business proposal. I'm writing it in word and will then save it as a pdf so that I can email it and not lose changes.
I have two excel documents that fall in the middle of the master document.
Any suggestions on how to make these excel docs a part of the master pdf document so that readers can look at the content seemlessly? I want to be able to include them in my table of contents and have them be found in the correct order instead of emailing separate attachments that the reader would have to put together.
I've tried turning the excel doc into a pdf and inserting that, but the excel doc has multiple pages and needs to be oriented in a landscape way (vs. the rest of the doc which is portrait). Also, when I insert the excel doc as an object (following the help from Microsoft office) I can't properly rotate or size the object.
I hope others have had the same challenge and have a quick solution.
    Thanks for the help!

I was trying to find the appropriate place and these had the closest subjects I could find. Can you tell me where I SHOULD be posting this?
Usually the best place to start is the web site of the company that makes the software. Most will have forums like Microsoft's newgroups.
There are also forums not tied to any specific company such as MacRumors forums.

  • Insert Word document with chart/table into fillable PDF?

My customer is using a PDF fillable form I created, which has a single text box to use for letters, etc. She has a Word document that contains a table/chart that she wants to insert into the fillable PDF, but when she brings it into the PDF the table/chart disappears.  How can she get that part of her Word document to insert properly?

    Hi,

  • Acrobat X Pro makes text disappear from a page when I insert that page into another PDF

I printed a single page Microsoft Project schedule to PDF using Acrobat X Pro.  All good.  I then inserted that one page into another PDF document using Tools/Insert Pages/Insert from File.  Much of the text in the inserted page goes missing after inserting that page into the other PDF document.  How do I prevent this disappearing text problem?

Does the inserted page have a lot of markup? I do not think the markup will insert.

  • Inserting pages into a single pdf

Got a new computer w/ Vista (boo!). Now I am unable to insert additional pages into a basic pdf.
    Example:
I scan 4 one-page documents onto my computer, which I want to merge into one.
In the XP version of my Acrobat Reader, I could open "page 1" (or whatever you want to call it), then just scroll down to "insert" from the main menu & browse for the additional pages, as long as I had saved them as PDF's. Done.
How do I do it now? I don't see "insert" anywhere. Thanks, Rick

The free Reader has never been capable of inserting or deleting pages; it does very little more than what its name implies: read PDF files. If you could previously insert pages in PDF files, you must have had some version of Acrobat.

  • Batch insert running numbered PDFs as background into corresponding numbered PDFs

My objective: What I want to do is actually simple. I want to replace the pages in a PDF ("the original pdf") with pages from another PDF ("the new pdf") but retain the crop margins of the original pages. Both the new and original PDF has the same number of pages (about 600 pages). The crop margins differ from page to page.
I can't do so directly as replacing a page replaces the crop margins of the original page with the crop margins of the new page. Neither is there an option to export and import crop margins.
The workaround I am using is do insert the new page into the original page as a background (with the "scale relative to target page" option unchecked), and deleting the page (it has not been OCRed, so it is just an image) object, revealing the underlying inserted page. This works, but only for 1 page, because I can only select, in the insert background dialog box, one page out of the new PDF to insert as background into the original PDF.
What I want to do instead is to insert as background corresponding pages of the new PDF into the pages of the original PDF, i.e. p 1 to p1, p2 to p2.
To try to get around this, I extracted all the pages in the new and original PDF as separate files. My idea is to create an action that will batch insert, the single paged PDFs in one folder as background into the corresponding single paged PDFs in another folder, i.e. insert 1.pdf in Folder A as background for 1.pdf in Folder B, 2.pdf in Folder A as background for 2.pdf in Folder B and on.
This is where I am stuck. How can I define an action to do that? Or can this be done by script? I have no experience with scripts.
    Help!
    Many thanks,
    Jay

Change the Save command to "Save to local folder" (by clicking the arrow icon next to it), and then select where you want to save the edited files.

  • Can't see info typed into fillable pdf: See Below

I created pdf forms using adobe forms central.
)    I have the pdf I created using FormsCentral on my desktop
)    I do a file save as pdf, so I can change the name of the document while still saving my blank original pdf document.
)    I write into my fillable saved as pdf doc and then email it to a coworker. The file size at this point is around 67 KB
)    This coworker opens up file and does a save as so they can rename it and save it to their desktop.
)    This coworker than adds information to the document by tying into the fillable pdf doc.
)    They email the document back to me
)    When I receive the document it is now 1 MB, Also I can only see what I wrote into the doc before I emailed it to her. However if I print the document everything she typed in shows up on the printed document. Or If I click in each field that you can type in the words or numbers she typed in show up but only in the field I’m clicking my mouse in
)    My question is would you say this is a user issue or an issue with the form itself, perhaps a bug.

Hey George, I emailed you the pdf docs. One using Windows Reader and One using Adobe Reader. It does appear that the fillable pdf docs do not work very well with windows reader. Windows Reader makes the file size much bigger and doesn't let people who don't use windows view info put into the file unless you print the doc or click in each space to view whats written. It does appear that the drop down menus and check boxes work in both adobe reader and windows reader.

  • Cannot Import Graphics Into Project

I am experiencing some very odd behavior in RoboHelp 9 project. When I attempt to import/insert a graphic into a topic, I receive the message:
    Unable to rename file, "image.gif".
    The file contains illegal characters.
First of all, I am NOT trying to rename the graphic. Secondly, the file name image.gif does not contain illegal characters. This happens for any graphic I attempt to import/insert into the project. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

    Hi there
If you click File > Rename Project (don't worry, we aren't really going to rename the project) what do you see at the bottom of the dialog where it shows the path?
Just click Cancel to dismiss the dialog.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Fillable PDF with graphics instead of text?

Is there a way to create a fillable PDF where you import a graphic instead of just typing text in?
I have a form that will be used by and organization with multiple chapters.  They would like the Fillable PDF made so that each chapter can just drop in their own chapter logo into the form and print.  Is there a way to do this without me having to create a different PDF for each chapter with their own logo in it?
    thanks

There is if it doesn't have to work with Reader. This was discussed in a recent topic here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4082243#4082243
A form created with LiveCycle Designer will allow Reader to populate an image field with images of certain formats, but the button approach is far more flexible, apart from the Reader issue.

  • How do you insert another PDF document into an existing PDF page

Here's some background.  I used to use Acrobat 5 (I know it's really old but it worked great for my needs, but it's time to upgrade).  Say I have an existing 1 page PDF document (an Invoice for example).  Sometimes in Excel I create additional supporting details/calculations/etc that I must place onto the Invoice.  In the past I would print my Excel document to PDF using PDF Broadgun (great tool!) - and I'd like to keep doing this.  Then I would go into Acrobat 5, open up my 1 page Invoice PDF document, then I'd use the Form tool, insert Icon, and select my "supporting" PDF document right onto the 1st page.  Then, as needed, I could resize it and place it anywhere on the existing Invoice/PDF 1 page document that I started with, and the resolution was great (i.e. no "grainy" appearances, etc).
I've now upgraded to Acrobat XI Pro (well, technically I'm trialing to make sure it'll will meet my needs - so far so good, until I ran into this).  I have tried copying the Excel data directly into my PDF Invoice document, but it often times makes the object super large (way off the page left to right) and then I have to resize it (substantially reducing the size) in order to make it fit the page.  This resizing the causes the text to appear "grainy".
So pretend that my original Invoice/PDF 1 page document took up the top 1/2 of the page.  Then in Excel I create some backup which is say 5-10 lines of calculations.  How can I get the Excel backup as an Image into my original 1 page document (and on 1 page)?  The only work around that I've found so far is to insert it as the last past, then highlight the new stuff from Excel, cut and copy it onto page 1 (these seems like several extra steps in my eyes, but it does work).
I also want to avoid using screen snip-it, snagit, and various other tools for the following reasons:
    1.  I don't want to remove the grid lines within Excel (i.e. when you print from Excel the grid lines do not print by default)
    2.  I use PDF Broadgun to generate a PDF (i.e. electronic print) and then the data/document looks just like I'd want it to look if I had physically printed it
Any thoughts?  Many thanks in advance for the help too.
Other Details:  Windows 7 Pro, company/business use

I don't see what the problem is with printing to PDF using the Adobe PDF printer as you did with the other tool. Then open your new Excel PDF and do the same process as before (assuming it worked for you). Just go to the Tools>Interactive and add a button field (I assume this is what you did before) and put the file there. At least give it a try as I think that is what you said you used to do.
