Insert date as dd/mm/yyyy

How can I format a form so that I can insert a date as
dd/mm/yyyy but it will save it in the database as
yyyy-mm-dd?

hahahah thanks!
After asking the question here, I worked for a while in the code and I did something very similar to what you told me, look:
<input name="datainicial_diaria" type="text" value="
    <?php
    $datainicial=$row_seleciona_diarias['datainicial_diaria'];
    $d=explode("-",$datainicial);
    $datainicial=$d[2]."/".$d[1]."/".$d[0];
    echo $datainicial;
    ?>
">
Is that when you do not have much familiarity with the code generated by dreamweaver, easy things can seem complicated! Thank you!
It is not recommended to process data via a form value if the data can simply be processed directly by a query. What I mean to say is that you should be processing your date directly in the processing script instead of sending the value through an input field, which can compromise the data.

    Hi
    How to Insert date in 'DD/MM/YYYY' format in oracle using stored procedure?
    This is my Input data.
    11/25/2007.
    By using below query, it is inserted into database.

    But using stored procedure, the same query is not running.
    It shows error like

    I had used 'nls_date_language = american' also.
    Prcodeure is created but not worked in jsp. The same error is thrown.

  • Inserting dates in mm/dd/yyyy format in excel sheet

    I am reading data from sql server 2005 which returns dates in the yyyy/mm/dd format. Now I have to insert this data into an excel sheet and it is supposed to be in the mm/dd/yyyy format. I tried converting the date formats in java but when I insert the date as a String the program throws
    java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Excel Driver] Data type mismatch in criteria expression.
    If I try to insert it as a java.util.Date or java.sql.Date it also includes the timestamp(which i do not want ) since thats the way MS SQL Server returns it in the result set.
    Someone said using PreparedStatement would help. How?
    Can someone please help me ?

    I have to insert data into excel sheets that already have pre defined macroes that do some calculations and get the data in the format i want. I dont know if this is possible with POI or JExcel. You most definitely not are going to find that in ODBC. The excel odbc driver does very, very little.

    And I also dont have the time to learn these. So please help me if u canSorry - then you should just tell someone that it isn't going to happen.
    Your requirements, excel and macros, is going to take a LOT of time.
    At a minimum, without seeing the exact requirements and macros, myself I wouldn't start with less than three months of time.

  • Insert Date in  mm/dd/yyyy

    This is the value I am inserting in the DB
    to_char(g.ship_date,'DD-MON-YYYY'),
    When I run from my desktop through TOAD Its fine. when run in another environment it gives error "Not a valid month"
    I am just trying to format the date in 'DD-MON-YYYY'

    Use Trim(g.ship_date)Not TRIM - it works with character data and trims leading/trailing/both
    specific characters in the string.
    Trunc() is that:
    SQL> select trunc(sysdate) from dual;
    TRUNC(SYSDATE)
    26-OCT-2005 00:00:00Rgds.

    I have read that ALTER SYSTEM changes will be effective immediately and there is no need to bounce the database.
    right but if parameter is "modifiable" if not then we need to "restart database"
    there three parameter with "alter system .... cmd"
    1. Memory

    SimpleDateFormat sdf = new SimpleDateFormat("MM/dd/yyyy");
    System.out.println("Formatted date is coming as "+sdf.format(dt));
    Date dt1 = sdf.parse(sdf.format(dt);
    System.out.println("parsed date is coming as " +dt1);
    output :
    1 SOP returns 11/07/2007 [current date]
    2 SOP returns Wed Nov 07 00:00:00 GMT+05:30 2007

    If you are using PreparedStatements setDate method, you need a java.sql.Date object, not a Java.util.Date object. You can create an sql.Date object from a util.Date object as follows:
    java.sql.Date sqlDate = new java.sql.Date(dt.getTime());And, if you are not using PreparedStatement and its setDate method, then change now.
    Doing
    Date dt1 = sdf.parse(sdf.format(dt));is meaningless. You format the date to string, then parse the string back to a date? Why? Why not just use the original Date object? And you won't get a sql.Date object that way, either, as the DateFormat classes return a util.Date object.
    Edit: And for more info:
    A Date does not have a format. It is simply a number. The "format" only comes into play when printing the String representation of the Date, and that is not handled by the Date object itself (except when calling toString either explicitly or implicitly).

  • How do I change the format of the date to dd-mm-yyyy?

    At the moment, the entries will not be accepted unless they are in the format of mm-dd-yyyy which will not go down well on what I am trying to do?
    Any advice on how to change the format?
    Thanks

    Hi Keri,
    I can understand your concern & will help you to get this issue resolved.
    Window where you Insert date in Add Header & Footer, you will get the option of 'Page Number and Date Format'. Please click on it.
    Page Number and Date Format window will pop up on your screen, now you can select the date format from the drop-down list & click on OK to confirm the changes. Please refer to the screenshot below.
    Let me know if you still experience any issue.

    <option selected>dd</option>

    <option>2005</option>
    <option>2006</option>
    <option>2007</option>
    </select>
    here the jsp code
    <% date= request.getParameter("date"); %>
    <% month= request.getParameter("month"); %>
    <% year= request.getParameter("year"); %>
    try
    { Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"); }
    catch (ClassNotFoundException exception)
    try
         Connection connection = null;
         out.println("connectiong the database");
    connection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@127.0.0.1:1521:orcsid","scott","tiger");
    out.println("connection getted");
         int rows = 0;
         String query_2 = "insert into mrdetails values(?)";
         String dob = date+month+year;
         prepstat = connection.prepareStatement(query_2);
         prepstat.setTimestamp(4,dob);
         rows = prepstat.executeUpdate();
         out.println("data updated");
    catch (Exception exception3)
    out.println("Exception raised"+exception3.toString());
    }

    To insert date values into a database, you should use java.sql.Date. If it also has a time component, then java.sql.TimeStamp.
    Your use of prepared statements is good.
    You just need to convert the parameters into a date.
    One way to do this is using java.text.SimpleDateFormat.
    int rows = 0;
    String query_2 = "insert into mrdetails values(?)";
    String dob = date+"/" + month+ "/" + year;
    SimpleDateFormat sdf = new SImpleDateFormat("dd/MM/yyyy");
    java.util.Date javaDate = sdf.parse(dob);
    java.sql.Date sqlDate = new java.sql.Date(javaDate .getTime);
    prepstat = connection.prepareStatement(query_2);
    prepstat.setTimestamp(4,sqlDate);
    rows = prepstat.executeUpdate();
    out.println("data updated");Cheers,

  • Help please !!  Need to insert date automatically in form

    I have been trying unsuccessfully for a week to automatically
    capture today's date on a form. I can display a date on screen but
    it will not insert date into mySQL db. All other information is
    inserted as expected.
    Am I just whistling in dark? Is there no way to eliminate
    user input for the order date field?
    I have looked throughout the forums and no luck.
    Anyone have any ideas about how to do?
    Thanks,
    Dale :-)

    You can use a timestamp function within your MySQL table, but
    remember you can only use the timestamp function ONCE in a table.
    Using the timestamp Function:
    Set the field type to TIMESTAMP. You can also set the default
    to CURRENT_TIMESTAMP and the attributes to ON UPDATE
    CURRENT_TIMESTAMP if you want the timestamp to change when the
    record is updated.
    If you want to record times more than the one time you are
    using the timestamp and you are using PHP/MySQL or PHP/MySQL ADODB
    (InterAKT's PhAKT Extension), then try this:
    http://chuckomalley.net/help/insert_date_help.php
    That gets the time into the MySQL Database. Next thing you'll
    want to do is to have it display the time the way you want it. The
    default will display it as yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss and you may not want
    it that way. To display it the way you want it try this:
    http://chuckomalley.net/help/display_formatted_date.php
    For the specific syntax on using this, refer to the online
    MySQL Manual and search for DATE_FORMAT() at
    http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/index.html
    Cheers

  • Insert date format

    Hi
    Iam using jsp and oracle
    I want to insert date in table in format
    MONTHYYYY
    i e JUNE2002
    using prepared statement
    regds

    Hi I used following function to get the date in exact format
    DateFormat formatter = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-mm-dd");
         formatter.setLenient(false);
    try
         java.util.Date aDate = formatter.parse(val);
         return true;
         catch (java.text.ParseException e)     {

  • Insert Date Using Text Field

    Hi,
    i have date item ,Can i insert date from text field in dd/mm/yy format.
    My Column for date is DATE type in table.
    How can i ido this with Text field .
    Thanks

    I think you want to have text field for user to input the date? (instead of date picker item type)
    If you are using custom PL/SQL code, it is fine, because you just use to_date(:Px_DATE_ITEM, 'dd/mm/yyyy'); or whatever format you are expecting, in your insert statement.
    If it is a DML process type, I don't think it's possible - apex probably converts the text from the data picker into a date datatype at run time, but not sure it'd do it when its just a text box.

    I take that back. So long as you have specified the application date format in the globalization attributes, and the format in the text box is the same/valid (otherwise it must be in the format as specified in NLS_DATE_FORMAT), it will insert no trouble in a DML process. http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17556_01/doc/user.40/e15517/bldr.htm#CHDBHCBB
