Insert date query

Hi,
I dont know whether this is the correct forum to post this query. (If not then kindly direct me to correct one..Thanks)
I have a table containing 3 date columns. 1 of the column contains date and time stamp generated by my application. Now, what I need is, I want to insert the date and time in the 2nd column , which will be +8hrs of 1st column. for eg. 1st column value is ( 5-feb-2012 13:30:00) .. and I want to insert (5feb-2012 21:30:00) in the second column.
Similarly for the 3rd column the value to be inserted is +24hrs.
All the exampls I came across talk about sysdate +, which would not work in this case as most of the date and time stamps are from past.
Kindly suggest how can I do it??

thanxAnd that SQL statement is another reason to use PreparedStatement. I assume bname and sname are input from some form? Well, if that's the case, simply inserting them into SQL by simple String concatenation is just begging for all sorts of problems. What if there is an apostrophe in the entry? Broken Statement. Worse, it's a wide open invitation to an SQL Injection attack.

The row is successfully inserted as witnessed by the results of row counting. However, I cannot extract data from the table. First, I tried using SqlPlus* which hangs up and quits after a while. I then tried to use SQL Developer, but haven't got any result. Here follow some examples of queries and their results in SQL Developer:
Query 1
select * from category
Result : the whole row is returned
Query 2
select xmlquery('$p/category/description' passing object_value as "p" returning content) from category
Result: "SYS.XMLTYPE"
now I tried to fully respect the nested structure of description element in order to extract the text portion of <bold> using this query
Query 3

Result: null
and also tried to extract the text portion of element <text> using this query
Query 4
select xmlquery('$p/category/description/text/text()' passing object_value as "p" returning content) from category_a
Result: "SYS.XMLTYPE".
On the other hand, I noticed, from the result of query 1, that the opening tags of elements keyword and bold are encoded as the less than operator "<". This explains why query 3 returns NULL. However, query 4 should display the text content of <text>, which is not the case.
My questions are about
1. How to properly insert the XML data while preserving the tags (especially the opening tag).
2. How to display the data (the text portion of the main Element or of the nested elements).
The problem about question 1 is that it is quite unfeasible to write a unique insert statement because the structure of <description> is recursive. In other words, if the structure of <description> was not recursive, it would be possible to embed the elements using the xmlelement function during the insertion.
In fact, I need to insert the content of <description> from a source table (called category_a) into a target table (+category_b+) automatically .
I filled category_a using the Saxloader utility from an flat XML file that I have generated from a benchmark. The content of <description> is different from one row to another but it is always valid with regards to the XML Schema. The data is properly inserted as witnessed by the "select * from category_a" instruction (500 row inserted). Besides, the opening tags of the nested elements under <description> are preserved (no "<"). Then I wrote a PL/SQL procedure in which a cursor extracts the category id and category name into varchar2 variables and description into an XMLtype variable from category_a. When I try to insert the values into a category_b, I get the follwing error:
LSX-00213: only 0 occurrences of particle "text", minimum is 1which tells that the <text> element is absent (actually it is present in the source table).
So, my third question is why are not the tags recognized during the insertion?

indded, I was using an old version of Sqlplus* (8.0.60.0.0) because I had a previous installation (oracle 10g XE). Instead, I used the Sqlplus* shipped with the 11g2database (version 11.2.0.1.0). All the queries that I wrote work fine and display the data correctly.
I also used the XMLSERIALIZE function and can now display the description content in SQL Developer.

I think that If exist is not a standar SQL command (I know it exists I think in Oracle and SQL server), MS access doesn't support it, so I think the best way to do it is first make a Select and then either an Update or an insert, sorry...

Query for inserting data into table and incrementing the PK.. pls help

I have one table dd_prohibited_country. prohibit_country_key is the primary key column.
I have to insert data into dd_prohibited_country based on records already present.
The scenario I should follow is:
For Level_id 'EA' and prohibited_level_id 'EA' I should retreive the
max(prohibit_country_key) and starting from the maximum number again I have to insert them
into dd_prohibited_country. While inserting I have to increment the prohibit_country_key and
shall replace the values of level_id and prohibited_level_id.
(If 'EA' occurs, I have to replace with 'EUR')
For Instance,
If there are 15 records in dd_prohibited_country with Level_id 'EA' and prohibited_level_id 'EA', then
I have to insert these 15 records starting with prohibit_country_key 16 (Afetr 15 I should start inserting with number 16)

Refresh LOV after inserting data in correspondent table

Hi all,
I am using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.2 and ADFBC.
I have a page with a table (tableA) with some fields. One of them has a LOV associated to another table(tableB). I have a button (button1) that shows a popup(popup1) and opens a new task flow with a fragment to insert data in the tableB.
After inserting/modifying rows in tableB and after pressing commit (property: end-transaction) or rollback buttons (property: end-transaction and restore save point), LOV does not refresh.
I have tried to set the property partial triggers of the LOV to button1 or popup1 and it does not work.
How can I solve it?

How about VO for table B ? Did you refresh that ? I didn't use the same VO for table & LOV.
so in "List data Source" -- VO -- I am using "SQL statement" and statement includes fields from Table B and Table A.
VO for LDS using "Rows populated by a SQL query with read-only access". I didn't use "Updateable Access through Entity Objects".
Sample of VO of LDS:

Inserting data to a . SDF database (SQL Server Compact Edition connection)

I'm working on a project that worked fine while connecting to SQL Server 2008. I used a connection string like this:

Now, I've replaced all database connections in my project to work with SQL Server Compact Edition, and my connection string is something like this:
Provider=Microsoft.SQLSERVER.CE.OLEDB.3.5;Data Source=myDir\myDataBase.sdf;
After changing the type of connection, I'm getting an error on "DB Tools Insert Data.vi". This is what I get:
Error -2147217872 occurred at NI_Database_API.lvlib:Cmd Execute.vi->NI_Database_API.lvlib: DB Tools Insert Data.vi->Main.vi
Possible reason(s):ADO Error: 0x80040E30 Exception occured in Microsoft SQL Server Compact OLE DB Provider: The given type name was unrecognized. [,,,,,] in NI_Database_API.lvlib:Rec Create - Command.vi->NI_Database_API.lvlib:Cmd Execute.vi->NI_Database_API.lvlib: DB Tools Insert Data.vi->Main.vi

I worked around this problem by using directly a SQL query instead of this function (you were right, using DBTools Execute Query VI). But now I'm getting problems with other functions, when inserting data into the DB including NULL values.
I make a SQL query like this using DBTools Execute Query VI:
INSERT INTO Table1 (Column1, Column2, Column3, Column4, Column5, Column6) VALUES ('Value1', 'Value2', 'Value3', 'NULL', 'Value5', 'Value6')
and get the following error:
ADO Error: 0x80040E07Exception occured in Microsoft SQL Server Compact OLE DB Provider: A literal value in the command could not be converted to the correct type due to a reason other than data overflow. [,,,,,] in NI_Database_API.lvlib:Conn Execute.vi->INSERT (new) restricción (DBCT).vi->Restricciones a Base de Datos (DBCT).vi->Definir - editar restricciones.vi->Main.vi
The same SQL query worked perfectly when using the SQL Server 2008 connection, so it's not a database structure issue.

How can I insert data into the standard CRM tables ?

Scenario----
I need to download few attributes (fields) from SAP MDM to SAP CRM via SAP XI. I'm using the 'COMT_PRODUCT_MAINTAIN_API' API for it.
The attributes(fields) that are present in the strucutres of API are downloaded into CRM system (by executing the Inbound proxy that is created based on the Message Interface created on XI) by calling the functions present in the API.
And for those fields that are not present in CRM, but need to be downloaded into CRM, I'm creating the Set Type attributes in CRM, which get appended to the API.
My query is:
There are fields in CRM into which I need to insert the values. But they are not listed in the API. So, how can I insert(/download) the values into these standard fields?

error message says: "Conversion failed when converting from a character string to uniqueidentifier."
I have data in table a col1,col2,col3,col4 - col3,col4 has datatype as varchar and i am updating table b columns col1,col2 with table a col3 and col4.

Not any String can be convert to uniqueidentifier.
1. you have to make sure u use a value which is fir to be uniqueidentifier
2. Use convert or cast in the insert query in order to convert the string into uniqueidentifier
insert X ... convert(uniqueidentifier, 'string which fit to be convert to uniqueidentifier')
Please post DDL+DML for more specific help

How to get DDL: Right click on the table in Object Explorer and select script table as CREATE. Post these create table scripts here.

sample data.

Insert data using peoplesoft webservice gives component API error

I am using jdeveloper 11g to consume a peoplesoft webservice using the wsdl file and JAX-Ws approach to build the proxy.
I have been successfull in getting to work the "get", "find" methods for the webservice but while trying to access the create/Update(inserting data) method, it gives me the following exception.

From the exception it is not clear what is missing or where am i going wrong. I have provided all the mandatory values required by the method.
The create method generated needs almost 40 parameters, hence i am intializing all of them and sending it.
Few parameters are INOUT or out mode, depending on that i even created the required holder etc.
I dont have any access to peoplesoft logs, is there a way to debug this further.
Basically i am stuck here as i am not able to decode this exception.
Can anyone tell me where is it failing, is it a some formation error or is it creating a query at db and getting a sql error??
as mentioned earlier, its very difficult to get access to db resources hence its becmong very difficult to debug the error.
Any help will be appreciated.

Error while inserting data in datagrid

Hi,
I am trying to insert data into a datagrid getting results
from a cfc using remoteobject. If I use everything inline then it
works fine.
I have a button when clicked give me the results. if I have
something like this:
<mx:Button label="get Query Remote Object"
click="myTest.getSystem()"/>
then it works fine.
but if I use a namespace like
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="
http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
xmlns:serv="services.*">
<serv:services id="services" />
and try to use
<mx:Button label="get Query Remote Object"
click="services.myTest.getSystem()"/>
then i get an error saying
Access of undefined property myTest in package services.
I have the remoteobject call within services.mxml which is
inside services folder. What do I need to change? It used to work
fine in 1.5.

Not able to insert data in a table...using MS SQL 2000

Hi guys,
Since this morning, for some reasons that I don't know, I can't insert data into my database. This is piece of my code:
Statement statement1 = connection.createStatement();
String sql = "SELECT PeopleID, LastName FROM People" + " WHERE LastName='" + lastName + "'";
ResultSet resultSet = statement1.executeQuery(sql);
and this is the error message I'm having:
Error executing the SQL statement[Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC][SQLServer]Invalid object name 'People'.
Any idea on how to fix that...?? I played around with the database to make sure that I have all the right permissions, still it doesn't work...

How do I check to make sure that it has an object.It doesn't. Period. That's what the error message is saying.
I'm able to query that table People and I get a
result back from it.Then whatever tool you're using to query that table, is connected to a different database (and/or connected as a different user) than the one your code is trying to connect to.

How to insert data in to database table depends on Indicator

Hi All,
I am working on Idoc to JDBC scenario. I am collecting & bundling(Using BPM) all the idocs and inserting the data in to the different database tables. Up to now my scenario is working fine. Now the problem is before inserting the data I have to check one of the Table field. If the field indicator is u201CYESu201D then only I have to insert data otherwise I have to wait up to the indicator field needs to be changed. Once indicator is u201CYESu201D then I have to insert all the collected idocs in to the database tables.
Can you please let me know how can I achieve this?

Hi,
There are two ways you can achieve this.
1. Instead of directly calling SQL statements write a stored procedure on database which will have first select query and then based on its result fire the insert query.For processing any logic like this stored procedure is the best approach. You can call SP from your jdbc receiver channel
2. By using a BPM. In this case you have to first fire a select query in the database and based on the response from database, fire the insert statement from bpm only. basically you will be having 2 send steps to database. One with Select statement and another with insert statement. You need to handle your logic in BPOM in this case.
