Login with a network account in offline, possible?

Hello,
I have a question, since I had before snow leopard server. So the questions now belongs to the Lion Server, the dedicated server. And this is not a issue, but few questions to you and need to plan to setup to the dedicated server if there is a or few way to do!
Before I could login in with a network account from Snow Leopard server from my MacBook PRO. I think there is still possible to do it. But now today I just wonder is there a possible to login in with a network account in offline too, also no internet require? And what is the name for that? True, I don't know a lot of VPN and never used this, can you explain bit about it? But I know when I logged in, I used a Open Directory account and this was "virtual screen", no need to open the screen sharing program or whatever. It just was from the Login Window, also when you are turn on the computer. Do you know what name and know how to could use a network account in offline on my mac?
I just want to give you an example:
If I am sitting in a flight to Vancouver from London, then there I have no internet access in flight trip, so I just login the network account and this had before "cache". Of course need to login in internet first to get all informations and files in computer, so these are stored in my computer. Then I am working with a presentation during the trip. When I am arrived in Vancouver, then I am connecting to a internet, so the computer, also the network account will update to the server with these new files etc or of these what I did in during the flight trip.

Essentially it's a means of providing a secure connection from remote networks such as your home or possibly a hotel to a specific location - such as your office or place of work - which allows you to access Servers and/or Services as if you were at that location itself.

Depending on where you are and the size of the files this may be a doutftul/painful experience and possibly not worth undertaking? However only you would really know? IMO it would make more sense to sync these files once you were back on the Server's network. It's possible you may benefit by signing up for MobileMe or iCloud?

The problem is for illustrator, adobe reader and adobe pro. For all of them, when I run it with a locl account, it works, but when I run its from the same workstation but with a network account:
- illustartor freez
- adobe reader craches and retsat and craches...
- Adobe Acrobat pro freez.
Only photoshop works.
Do you have an idea how can I make it working with a network account but only from the same workstation?

Not able to login with window AD account

Hi,
I did all the necessary configuration for windows AD in cmc,
Here are the steps,
I did the following configuration to set up the WINDOWS AD,
1.Configured the service account for use with the AD plug in.
a)Created the service principal name (SPN) for service account
b)Set delegation for the service account.
2.configured the BI Plateform for use with the service account
a)Add SPN to the CMC.
b)Set the SIA to run as the service account
c) verified that service account and windows AD login account is
working checked that no error message appeared and could see white screen
I tried login with my AD account credential in to CMC but shows error showing "not authorized to login"
can any1 please help

No, but you can authorize her machine to play songs from your account, you'll just import them manually, they won't 'sync'

Slow login with Domain Mobile Account in 10.9.1

I've tried searching, although I may have missed something. I saw that this was possibly resolved in 10.7, but I'm having the issue with 10.9.1...so...but, if this has been solved and I did miss it when searching, please be gentle. =)
Got a new MBP for work and it's joined to the domain and set up with a mobile account. When I log in from home, I select my account so that FileVault can decrypt the drive, and after the inital spinning wheel, it sits for about 60 seconds before telling me:
"There was a problem connecting to the server "[server name]".
The server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again."
Thoughts? Questions that I can try to answer?

Can not login to a network account.

I dont typically support macs, but I have a client with an odd issue that I can not solve.
He has a Macbook Pro with OSX 10.6.
He logs in using his network account, authenticating against an OSX 10.5 server.
When he tries to to login, it appears as if he has a bad password.
His account is able to login just fine on other Macbooks in the company. (So I'm assuming his network account and password are fine)
Other users are able to log into HIS Macbook just fine, inclusing new accounts that have never before logged into this Macbook. (So I assume his macbook is communicating just fine with the OSX server)
When I go into the accounts list in the Macbook, his account is not there. It's missing.
If I try to create an account with his name, I'm told the account already exists.
We ran diskutility to repair the permissions on the drive, but this did not fix the issue.
Any ideas?
On the windows support side I would simply rebuild the users profile.. I'm not sure what the equivilent is on the mac side.

I'm having a similar problem. Could you let me know how to eliminate the mobile account using the command line?

Local login capability for network accounts?

Hi all,
I'm setting up a local network at an office servicing about 20 different client machines (mostly just MacBooks). The goal of this is to accomplish some basic administrative taks, such as checking the status of/enforcing disk encryption, password strength policies, caching software updates, etc.
Currently everyone is logging onto their machines locally and ideally we could have them merged into network accounts through a box that we have running OS X Server. I've got that set up and working with test accounts, but given that our users sometimes are working off-site or from home, I need a solution that could allow people access to their accounts when the server is unavailable (any time they are not on our local network). Is this possible? Are there any other workarounds that aren't too awkward?

There are three main types of user account.
Local only - defined on the local machines with files being stored on the local machine
Network only - defined on a server with files being stored on a server
Mobile account aka. Portable Home Directories - defined on a server but when user first logs in to a Mac configured for this type of account their account is copied to the Mac along with their home directory, and thereafter password changes are synchronised between the server and Mac
Most often Mobile accounts are used with laptops but this is not compulsory.
You will need to use ProfileManager to manage the Macs and be able to configure a group of Macs to use Mobile Accounts. This is under Mac only - Mobility, and you want to then configure "Create Mobile Account when user logs in to Network Account".
Note: With older OS versions you could set this up with Workgroup Manager and Managed Preferences but Mavericks needs you to do this via ProfileManager. ProfileManager is however backwards compatible with Lion and Mountain Lion versions.

Cannot login with Active Directory Account

I am testing SnowLeopard (10.6.1) for deployment in my labs for the Spring 2010 semester. We use local home directories. This is a brand new fresh install of SL, on a freshly formatted Hard Drive.
When bound to Active Directory I can get any AD account that I've tested (5 different accounts) to authenticate except one, which happens to be my own personal AD account.
The secure.log shows these entries when I attempt to login:
Oct 9 14:18:29 mac-0017f20fc40 SecurityAgent[209]: User info context values set for ctarbox
Oct 9 14:18:29 mac-0017f20fc40 authorizationhost[208]: Failed to authenticate user <ctarbox> (tDirStatus: -14090).
Considering that I could log in with other accounts, and after resetting my AD password then still not being able to authenticate, I came to the conclusion that I had a corrupt OU in Active Directory.
I contacted one of our AD admins and had him delete both of my AD accounts: ctarbox and ctarbox1 then recreate both accounts. I still cannot login to AD with my ctarbox account.
I can still login to my current lab machines anywhere on campus running 10.5.8 with ctarbox.
I am baffled by this. I have been authenticating to Active Directory since 10.1 and have never seen anything like this.
Any idea, anyone?

I have found the solution to my problem. I have accounts in two different domains in our AD tree. I'll called these domains Domain A and Domain B.
Domain A is the primary domain for authentication to our public computing labs.
Domain B is a secondary domain for authentication to shared resources for faculty/staff.
Both accounts have the same user ID, but different passwords. In my Directory Utility>Advanced>Administrative window I have the option "Allow authentication from any domain in the forest' checked.
With this option checked Directory Utility in 10.6.1 will allow me to authenticate Domain B, but not Domain A.
With this option checked in Directory Utility in 10.5.8 just the opposite is taking place, I can authenticate to Domain A, but not Domain B.
It seems that somewhere in the upgrade to 10.6.1 the search policy for Active Directory has changed. My workaround is to uncheck this option and specifically choose Domain A in the search policy.

Apple tv 2 problem: I can not login with my ID account!!!!!

apple tv does not login with my ID! Do you have a solution? Since a few weeks I can not login in with my password...
I tried everything:
- re-starting apple tv.
- login on macbook with my apple ID with new password

Signal Strengh on WiFi was great (its a new Apple Time Capsule and has to be reset often). Checked the internet connectivity on other machines too (incase that was inop). I checked the network first as that is typically a impediment to all other things working prior to my previous comment. I logged in to iTunes and MobleMe to see that my password was correct and working. hmmm.
I reset the Apple TV next and again changed my iTunes password on my laptop, then ran a network test (which needs a itunes password to work). Network check was successful and I am logged back in.
Now it says...."Netflix is currently unavailable. Try again later".
geez.

How do I share a computer account with a network account?

So I've had my Macbook for about two years now, and up until now the only account I've had is the one I initially set up for myself. This year for school I had to set up my computer so that I could log into it via a network account. This required me to rename the computer, install an approved school antivirus (kinda unnecessary on a Mac, but whatever), and then set up a new account on my computer, which when connected to the college network, I would be able to log in to. So my problem is that even though I set up that new account as an administrator account, I cannot access any of the files on my original account. So when, for example, I want to run Parallels because the college's printer drivers are not Mac compatible and I want to be able to run the Virtual Machine I already have set up on my other account so that I can install them... It doesn't have access to that virtual machine. I can't find my original Window's OS disk, so I would much rather just port over the Virtual Machine I already have than to buy it again. Does anyone know how to access my original account from a network account?

Login with Multiple User Accounts From One Machine

We have users with multiple accounts (Admin and Standard) in our organization and we want them to be able to launch RemoteApps from RDWeb using both accounts at the same time (from a single workstation). For example we would want their standard account
to launch the RemoteApp HEAT and their admin account to launch the RemoteApp Exchange Management Console. Is this possible?

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not talking about concurrent sessions for a single user - I'm talking about multiple user accounts being used from an individual machine at the same time. The situation would be as follows:
I log on to the computer with my normal user account (lets call it NZiehnert)
I launch an application from the RemoteApp and Desktop Connections shortcut in my start menu, which launches the application as NZiehnert
I launch the RDWeb access portal and log on using a different account (lets call it NZiehnert.admin)
I attempt to launch the same application from step 2 (or another application that runs from the same server) and instead of launching as NZiehnert.admin the application runs as NZiehnert
Basically, we have administrative tools that we wish to put into our remote environment, but we also have tools that are used by the same users normal accounts. So we need a way for those users to be able to access the applications as a different user
- at one point I was able to generate this dialog, but I'm not sure how to recreate it:

I have tried to login to Skype and the following error returns:
"Sorry, we didn't recognize you sign-in details. Please check etc. etc."
My account does exist as I have asked my friends if they can see it. Why has this happened? I have searched the Skype so-called knowledge base and cannot find an answer. Does Skype disable accounts if inactive for any period of time?

How do I reset the password of an old login with an email account that no longer exists?

Years ago, I bought songs in the iTunes store with an old email account that no longer exists. I type my answers to the security questions, but the answers aren't working for some reason. So neither of the normal ways to reset a password. Is there a way to be able to figure out or change the password so that I can listen to this music once again?

If you do get access you can then change the primary email address on it e.g. via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes ot via http://appleid.apple.com

Says I need to login with the Administrator account even though I am

Ok, I'm trying to install the printer driver for my new printer, its an HP Photosmart C3100. When I run the installer it prompts me to enter my password (The details tab says that it is specifically requesting system.privilege.admin), but when I do it says the following:
"The software to be installed requires Administrator or higher level access privileges."
The thing is that the account that I login as and the password I use are for the Administrator account.
I've tried everything I can think of to solve this. I've made new administrator accounts and it won't accept them, I've run disk utilities and another application to repair my computer's permissions, nothing seems to work.
Anyone have any idea how to solve this short of fully reinstalling OS X.

Open the netinfo manager (/Applications/Utilities/Netinfo Manager)
click on groups in the window that pops up and then admin.
Make sure that your admin account is a value under the users property.
If not, you may not be able to change it if you are having authentication problems...
in that case you might want to quit the application and open the terminal and type (without the quotes) "sudo open -a /Applications/Utilities/NetInfo\ Manager.app/"
That should prompt you for the admin password, hopefully it will work from the terminal. If not you might have to start from the install cd and reset the password from there.
