several days ago i have similar problem....
the solution was to define all necessary (missing) entries in the tables (in the following order):
SDO_DATUMS
SDO_COORD_OPS
SDO_COORD_OP_PARAM_VALS
SDO_COORD_REF_SYS
SDO_CS_SRS
the entries in the SDO_CS_SRS table can be automaticly updated if all other data are properly defined:
call SDO_CS.UPDATE_WKTS_FOR_EPSG_CRS(xxx);
refer to Oracle Spatial User Guide (chapter 6.8) how to insert data in all mentioned tables.
my sugestion is:
- find SRS that has similar definition like SRC you need (SRID from SDO_COORD_REF_SYS table).
- read what is written in the SDO_COORD_REF_SYS
- find all related entries in other tables
- following predefine patern from predefined oracle srid add new entries with the new values for your crs parameters
... maybe you don't have to define new datum parameters but i think the workflow is clear.
i have tried this aproach and for me everything works well. i'm using oracle 10g R2 and i have to add new projected coordinate system based on transverse mercator.

• ORA- 01461 : Can Bind a long value only for insert into a column error

I was trying to create a new job using dbms_job.isubmit
begin
sys.dbms_job.isubmit(job => 1111,
what => '',
next_date => to_date('21-10-2011 03:00:00', 'dd-mm-yyyy hh24:mi:ss'),
interval => 'TRUNC(SYSDATE+1)+3/24');
commit;
end;
However, I am getting the error 'ORA- 01461 : Can Bind a long value only for insert into a column error'.
I tried a lot but cant get rid of.
Any help gurus ?

You have an error in the code:
1. you don't provide a value for 'what' - you have to tell Oracle what it should execute when it submits the job.
And remember - with ISUBMIT the next_date parameter has datatype VARCHAR2 - SUBMIT uses datatype DATE. So make sure you provide a VARCHAR2 value and do not rely on implicit conversion.

• About insert into MDSYS.SDO_GEOM_METADATA_TABLE

Hi all,
I'm newbie with Oracle Spatial.
I would like to know what values can I define to columns SDO_LB and SDO_UB
for the dim element for SRID 8292 when I insert into table
MDSYS.SDO_GEOM_METADATA_TABLE.
I found the following example:
INSERT INTO MDSYS.SDO_GEOM_METADATA_TABLE
SDO_OWNER, SDO_TABLE_NAME, SDO_COLUMN_NAME,
SDO_DIMINFO,
SDO_SRID)
VALUES('PROJUSER', 'LOCAL', 'CD_LOCAL',
MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ARRAY(MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('X', 500000, 600000, 0.05),
MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('Y', 7000000, 7020000, 0.05)),
8292);But I don't know if this insert is correct and the spatial index
is valid for SRID 8292.
Thank you very much!!!
[]´s

Hi,
8292 is a Geographic system, so this is the correct entry for metadata:
insert into user_sdo_geom_metadata values ( ...,
SDO_DIM_ARRAY(SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('X', -180, 180, .05),
SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('Y', -90, 90, .05)), 8292);
And you should never insert directly into the MDSYS.SDO_GEOM_METADATA_TABLE table.
You should always insert into USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA view.

• 10GR2: Creating a new MDSYS.CS_SRS entry????

Previously I created my new SRID by simply inserting into mdsys.cs_srs. Now however I get the following error

ORA-04088: error during execution of trigger 'MDSYS.CS_SRS_TRIGGER'
I've seen on the forumn that from 10GR2 you can no longer do this. What I couldn't find was how you now do it? BTW This SRID was in my 10.1.0.4 database before upgrading but didn't get carried forward in the upgrade.

• ORA-00604 error when trying to insert into a XMLTYPE stored as BINARY

Hi. Here's the scenario.
Here's my Oracle version:
Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.7.0 - 64bit Production
With the Partitioning, OLAP, Data Mining and Real Application Testing options
The database is encoded as AL32UTF8.
First I create the table...
create table binary_table (the_field XMLTYPE) XMLTYPE COLUMN the_field STORE AS BINARY XML;
Now I try and do an insert like this...
insert into binary_table values (xmltype('<?xml version="1.0" encoding="AL32UTF8"?>' || chr(10) || '<a>b</a>' || chr(10)));
and I get this error:
SQLState: 60000
ErrorCode: 604
Position: 122
Error: ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
If I create the table with a CLOB storage option for the XMLTYPE, the insert works fine. If I repeat these steps in another database instance, same Oracle version, that's encoded as WE8ISO8859P1, it also works fine. It behaves the same in several clients. I also tried it with several different values for NLS_LANG and that didn't help.
I do want to say that this database instance has just been set up especially for me so I can do some R&D on AL32UTF8 and XMLTYPE to see if it fits our needs. So it might be a problem with the database instance.
Thanks for taking a look at this.

Hi,
Use this
Load data
append Into TABLE HS_HRMIG_EMP_PER_20MAR07 fields terminated by "," optionally enclosed by '"'
TRAILING NULLCOLS.
Here optional enclosed by is for doubles quotes which should needs to place in single quotes.
like '"'.
try with this.

Gavin,
What is your VC2_40 and NAME_T type definition? Your insert used these as varchar2, which is a built-in type not a user-defined type. If you explicitly define these to be varchar2's, the insert statement works fine.

Can't you use "alter index <shema.spatial_index_name> rebuild ONLINE" ? Thanks. I could switch to "rebuild ONLINE" and see if that helps. Are there any potential adverse effects going forward, e.g. significantly longer rebuild than not using the ONLINE keyword, etc? Also wondering if spatial index operations (index type = DOMAIN) obey all the typical things you'd expect with "regular" indexes, e.g. B-TREE, etc.

Simple,
Some error in your query right. Unable to understand Quotation stuff.
Well understand it properly else error will follow forever :)
Without String, Straight Away Values
stmt1.executeUpdate("insert into Login_Details values('Example','Exmaple')");This is the query with Login_Id Pass_Word String containing the value
stmt1.executeUpdate("insert into Login_Details values('"+Login_Id+"','"+Pass_Word+"')");Then storing sql as string and pass it in executeUpdate(sql)
String sql="insert into Login_Details values ('example','example') "String + Values in String
String sql="insert into Login_Details values ('"+example+"','"+example+"') "Just first it . Hope this reply solve ur SQL EXCEPTIONG

Folks,

This occurs when an insert is done via a database link into a table that has a LONG data type for one of the columns, and the string contains some carriage returns and or line feeds.
I have checked by removing the db link, and inserting into a local table with identical column data types, where there is no error.
So this might be another db link bug?
So I need to remove the carriage returns and/or line feeds
in my pl/sql block in the page process. I have tried
l_text := REPLACE(l_text, CHR(10), ' ');
l_text := REPLACE(l_text, CHR(13), NULL);
but still getting the ORA-06502. Would really appreciate some advice here, please.

Scott,
Time to 'fess up':
My fault sorry, the error was coming from another page process where I had allowed insufficient string length for one of the variables, and my error message did not identify the page process clearly.
This leads me to make a request for future releases, could the system error messages state which page process caused the problem?
One other thing I notice, and this might be a feature not a fault, the page processes are numbered: "Page Process: 3 of 5". However process 3 is not the 3rd one to be processed, and probably refers to the order in which they are created. Should the number reflect the process order?
Cheers
KIM

• ORA-01403: no data found error hile inserting into a table

Hi,
I am populating a PL/SQL table(Array) with the data. From that array inserting into a Actual table. Before inserting am checking array count. Array count is greater than 0. But I am getting "ORA-01403: no data found" exception. I am not getting why this error is displaying.
Please someone help me. Below is the code.
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE XXDL_TEST_INSERT
IS
BEGIN
IF  t_array.count> 0 THEN
FND_FILE.PUT_LINE (FND_FILE.LOG, t_array.count);
FOR i IN t_array.FIRST..t_array.LAST

WHEN OTHERS THEN
FND_FILE.PUT_LINE (FND_FILE.LOG,SQLERRM);
END;Thanks

It looks like your Array is sparsely populated:
