Insert Pages in New PDF

I have created a new empty PDF as follows:
     If objAVDocNew.Open(strCombinedPDFName, "") = False Then
MsgBox "Could not open " & strCombinedPDFName
        Return
    End If
    Set objPDDocNew = objAVDocNew.GetPDDoc
    If objPDDocNew.Create() = False Then
MsgBox "Did not create Combined PDF file.", vbCritical + vbOKOnly, "File Not Created"
ShowMessage ("Did not combine and email PDFs.")
        Exit Function
    End If
When I attempt to insert pages from another PDF, the insert fails.
     If objPDDocNew.InsertPages(0, objPDDoc, 0, lngPages, 0) = False Then
        MsgBox "Pages did not insert"
    End If
However, when I execute the above statement on a PDF that already has pages in it, not a blank PDF, then the insert works.
What do I need to do so I can insert pages into a newly created PDF?

OK, I've changed my code as follows and it still doesn't insert pages:
     Set objPDDocNew = CreateObject("AcroExch.PDDoc")
     If objPDDocNew.Create() = False Then
MsgBox "Did not create Combined PDF file.", vbCritical + vbOKOnly, "File Not Created"
ShowMessage ("Did not combine and email PDFs.")
        Exit Function
    End If
     Set objPDDoc = CreateObject("AcroExch.PDDoc")
    If objPDDoc.Open(strFileName) = False Then
MsgBox "Could not open " & strFileName
        Return
    End If
    lngPages = objPDDoc.GetNumPages
    'Add pages to new file
    If objPDDocNew.InsertPages(0, objPDDoc, 1, lngPages, 0) = False Then
        MsgBox "Pages did not insert"
    End If
What am I missing?  Thanks!

  • Lion Preview can't delete or insert pages to a PDF document

I have the following problem: I open a PDF file in preview. I delete some pages as I used to in snow leopard. Then I save it. The document's page count changes to the correct number in the window title bar. However, if I open the saved version after closing the current window I see that nothing is saved at all! The same thing happens when I try to insert pages to a PDF document. Looks like everything is fine, but when I close and reopen the document no changes are saved. The weird thing is file is modified, i.e. preview saves something but not my changes. It just re-saves the original document.

NUMACER's answer worked for me as well guys ! Didn't need to save a version, it just keeps it like that. I tried saving a version which saved on the same file instead of creating a new one (i know that since I saw the "Last modified" thing being updated at the same time) !
    Thanks Numacer

  • I have Adobe Pro 9 and I can't insert pages into a PDF created by Adobe Pro 8

I've looked at the other discussions about not being able to insert pages into a PDF, and tried all the suggestions, but to no avail. I think the problem is that the original PDF was created in Adobe 8, and I have Adobe 9. When I open the PDF in Adobe Pro 9, the security screen says that editing is not allowed, and the screen is greyed out so that I can't change the settings. When I open the same PDF in Adobe Pro 8, the security screen says "No Security".
I also checked the "Documents" screen in Edit -> Preferences, and changing the "View Documents in PDF/A" to Never doesn't help.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

That would be a question for Adobe support. Firefox does advise users when their Acrobat plugin is out of date, but the actual update is done by Adobe.

  • How do I insert pages from one PDF into the current PDF in Acrobat X?

I just upgraded from Acrobat 8 to Acrobat X.
How do I insert pages from one PDF into the current PDF in Acrobat X pro?  I was able to do this from the Edit menu in Acrobat 8 pro.  Appreciate instructions.  Thanks.

    Hi chemadberk,
In my Acrobat 8 Pro, Insert Pages is under the Document menu but anyway...
In Acrobat X, click on the Tools pane(upper right side) then navigate to Pages- the Insert Pages commands are located there.
    Hope this helps,

  • How can I re-insert pages into a PDF?

Hi- it will become obvious that I am new to Illustrator (Creative Cloud 2014 on a Mac, for what it's worth).  I am editing a brochure and when I opened the PDF with Illustrator I was asked to select a particular page on which to work.  Now that I have done that it saved as a separate page- how can I insert it back into the brochure format?  As it stands now I have the old brochure in its entirety, and an edited, single page separately.
    Thank you in advance.

If you have Acrobat Pro, you can replace the previous page with the new page and then, resave the new .pdf.  It is a simple swap.

  • Help with inserting pages into a PDF form

    Hi everyone,
I used LiveCycle Designer ES for the first time to make a fillable PDF form.  The form works splendidly, but the users wish to insert PDF pages to the end of the form before submitting (using Acrobat).
I can't figure out how to allow this to happen.
I open the form I made in Acrobat 9.0 and the Insert Pages tab is greyed out.
I went back to LC and set form options to "Allow all changs except extract" and this seems to have done nothing.
When I look at the security settings in Adobe and click on Permissions Details, I see two different things.  In Docmuent Security, the security method is set as Password Security and if I open Show Details It says changing the Document is allowed.
But in the Document Restrictions Summary, changing the Document is set at Not allowed.
Probably a newbie question, but I am stumped.
    Thanks,
    Becky

    Hey there,
If you've created a dynamic form, then the PDF document is no loger an acroform, it's an XFA form. I might be wrong, but I'm fairly certain that XFA forms can't have their pages extracted or have pages added via Acrobat.
If that is the case (I'm fairly certain it is) then you have a few options:
    1) Redesign the form in Acrobat, losing the dynamic functionality.
    2) Create the form in Livecycle, and include the hidden subform that is shown on submit or button press (this would require you to know what the users want added, it would also require that the thing they're adding is always the same)
    3) Install a virtual printer, get them to fill out the dynamic form, then 'print' the via the dynamic printer.
Personally, I'd go with option 3. A virtual printer is a program that prints the current document to a file, instead of an actual printer. 'Cute PDF Writer' is a virtual printer that is able to 'print' any document to a new pdf document. The new form will not be dynamic, and the fields are made read-only (hense why they should fill it out before printing it), but you will be able to insert pages.
If you would like feel free to send me a message with any questions regarding cutepdf writer.
    - Scott
P.S. CutePDF Writer also has the advantage of being free, well-supported, and just plain awesome. =P I would suggest getting it, even if you don't need it to resolve this issue. I use it all the time.

  • How to change year once in progress of calender? or insert pages into new calender

so after a lot of hard work on a calender to give out for christmas i realized i had selected it for the 2011 year....
can i change the year of the calender now? and how? if not anyone know how to instert a finished page into a new calender?!?!?
    please help me!!

If you're using PSE9, you've run into the infamous "Calendar Year Bug".  You need to select a year one greater than what you really want -- choose "2013" to get a "2012" calendar.
There's no way to change the year and dates of a calendar.  You'll have to start over.

  • Printing selected pages to new PDF

I have done this before, but not sure what has changed? I have "Adobe PDF" configured as a printer and Acrobat 9 Pro Ver 9.3.4 installed on my computer. I used to be able to print individual page selections or ranges to the "Acrobat PDF" printer and get an extracted PDF file with my selection. Now I get a .PS file with some text in it. What am I doing wrong? Is there a better way, other than Snag-It? Can I do this with Acrobat Reader?

As I have told many people "I am only blind in two eyes, the rest are OK".
I think I see the problem now:
    %%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
This PostScript file was created from an encrypted PDF file.
Redistilling encrypted PDF is not permitted.
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
Although these are company files, for legal reasons, they get encryped when placed on the company site. They can be sent to a printer, but not to the Adobe PDF printer. I already have steps to provide open PDF files for internal use. I think that may be my fix.
    Thank you for your input.

  • Inserting pages into a multiple pdf documents in a few steps.

    Dear All,
Is there a way to insert pages from what pdf into another in a few simple steps? I know how to manually insert a page into a document  (have to pdfs open and drag and drop) but if you have 500 pdf documents you need to insert into 500 pdfs, it becomes a tedious process. I was wondering if there is anyway to do that in one step? I know you can password protect multiple docs in one step so I am sure acrobat has this functionality but I just don't know about it. Thank you in advance for your help!

Since there's only one one-page generic document to be added after each PDF file, I think you can just use the basic features of the Action Wizard without using JavaScript. I just did a quick test.

  • Inserting pages before pg 1, document then opens to old page 1 (XI Pro)

    Dear Support Team,
I am baffled.  I use Adobe Acrobat XI Pro 11.0.2.  Here is the scenario that is driving me crazy:
I open a multi-page pdf document (titled Report).
I then view the thumbnails of that document.
I find another pdf document (titled Charts) and drag it unopened from my desktop and place it before the thumbnail of the first page of my opened document (Reports).
All seems well, all pages of the Charts pdf were inserted before the first page of the Reports pdf and are showing correctly in thumbnail view.
However, if I close the pdf and reopen it, it will automatically open to the old first page (what used to be the first page of Reports), let's say page 5.
So, I have to go to the file properties and change the "open to page 5" and make it say "open to page 1"
This happens every time I insert a pdf document or even just a pdf page from another document before page 1 in my open document.
It's like Acrobat keeps making the document open to the old page 1 no matter how many pages I insert before the old page 1.
I just want to insert pages and have it open to the new page 1 without having to go to the file properties menu every time.
    Can anyone help me?

    Hello,
Thanks for your time.  My acrobat preferences were already set to disable the restore last view settings, so that didn't work.
I've done a bunch of testing since you responded and have discovered that this issue only happens when I insert pages into a pdf document created by our office scanner (Konica Minolta bizhub C452).  When I scan a document, it creates a pdf.  If I then take that pdf and try to insert another document or page before page 1, the document properties immediately change to "open to page 5" or whatever the original page 1 used to be.
I'm not sure what's going on here.  I tried copying the scanned pdf to a different location/drive, and still no luck.  This is a bummer because we work with scanned documents so often and frequently need to insert and rearrange pages.  For now, whenever I insert pages before page 1, I promptly go to the document properties and change the "open to page" to page 1.  Very annoying.

  • Unable to Insert  Pages

    I have Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard v 8.1.2
    I am using Windows XP
Using my older version of Adobe I was able to insert pages with no problem. With my recent upgrade I am no longer able to do this. For example: I make a purchase. I convert the email confirmation of the order to PDF. Then I convert the PayPal confirmation to PDF. I want to file the two together for a complete receipt. Both are converted using my existing Adobe software.
When I attempt to *Insert Pages*, instead of the page, I get a box with a message, as follows:
"Multiple files are bound together in this PDF Package. Adobe recommends using Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat version 8 or later to work with documents contained within a PDF Package. By updating to the latest version, you'll enjoy the following benefits: (blah blah blah). Dont have the latest version of Adobe Reader? Click here to download the latest version of Adobe Reader If you already have Adobe Reader 8, click a file in this PDF Package to view it."
There is no PDF package. It does not combine the two files. I clicked on Help .. Check for Updates .. and it tells me that I do not need any updates.
Can you help me with this problem? Thanks so much. :-)

I've found the best way to insert pages in a PDF is to show the "Pages" pane on each PDF you have open and drag the page from one to the other via the pane window.
Have you tried that instead of via the menu?

  • How do I add and delete pages to a pdf document?

How do I add and delete pages to a pdf document?

    Hi Paul,
Adobe Acrobat has the features to add/delete/extract/crop/insert pages to your PDF files and are much more features.
Adobe Reader has  a very limited features for editing to PDF files.
Now you can subscribe to Acrobat Plus and see more information at https://www.acrobat.com/acrobatplus/en/home.html
Or you can download Acrobat XI Pro for trial version from www.adobe.com.
    thank you.

    Hi seand,
You can use Acrobat to insert pages into a PDF file. If you don't have Acrobat, feel free to give it a try. You can download a free 30-day trial from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html.

  • How do I insert a page into multiple .PDF files?

Hi everyone, I have several hundred PDF files every month, and I need to insert a page at the end of each document.
The files and insert are in PDF format. What is the easiest way to do this?
    I am using Acrocrbat 10.
    Thank You

If you have Acrobat X Pro, and the PDFs aren't secured, it's easy to do it with an Action.
File > Action Wizard > Create New Action
Set "Start with" to "Ask" so you can choose a folder each month
From the panels on the left, choose Pages > Insert Pages
Click the Options icon, choose the file containing the page you want to insert, then set it to After / Last Page
Set the Save To options to suit what you want.
Now you can run the Action against an entire folder of PDFs.
