Insert TimeStamp into Db2 using a date String

I need help with inserting a timestamp into DB2.
I get timestamp in the format of a string from a flatfile. e.g "19981012122345"
I need to store this as a timestamp in DB2.
im using the Preparedstatement.
How do i convert this String into a Timestamp?
im trying to insert that as a string and it doesnt work.
This is holding up my work... any ideas, sample code appreciated.
Thanks
Sri

Thanks citcru.
I followed the same pattern as you showed.
I needed timezone too. so i modified the code as below... hope someone else may need this. I refered in the forums for this example.
int Year = Integer.parseInt(Time.substring(0,4));
int Month = Integer.parseInt(Time.substring(4,6));
int Day = Integer.parseInt(Time.substring(6,8));
int Hour = Integer.parseInt(Time.substring(8,10));
int Minutes = Integer.parseInt(Time.substring(10,12));
int Seconds = Integer.parseInt(Time.substring(12));Calendar calendar = Calendar.getInstance(TimeZone.getTimeZone("CST"));
calendar.set(Year,(Month-1),Day,Hour,Minutes,Seconds);
Timestamp tstamp = new Timestamp(calendar.getTime().getTime());
Thanks again citrcu for the reply, this helped me a lot.

  • BPEL process to Insert XML into DB using pl/sql stored proc

    Hi,
    We have created a BPEL process in which we are taking input request and store it into Oracle Database using PL/SQL proc.
    We have been unsuccessful in doing so because the data stored in table has root element missing.
    Has any body done this (insert xml into DB using pl/sql stored proc) successfully ?
    We can so this successfully if we do not use stored procedure and store data directly in table.
    Regards

    I have done this, stored it as a CLOB.
    Also I received the payload as an opaque schema, so I had to convert the message from binary into string.
    This way the root element doesn't get removed.
    cheers

  • Insert timestamp into a Date field.

    Hi anyone knows if I insert a timestamp into a date field, will it sort according to the date field if I use an sql statement to sort the data?

    Your question is quite unclear, it sounds like you have two questions:
    1. Can I insert a timestamp into a date field (in the database?)?
    2. Can I sort my sql statement using the date field?
    Is this what you are asking? If not, please clarify.

  • Inserting Timestamp into a SQL database

    I am having a problem inserting a timestamp into a Sql Database. I keep getting this error or a different on when i format the timestamp differently. In the following code the timestamp is not formated at all.
    java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Line 1: Incorrect syntax near '13'
    this is the sql statement that is executed
    insert into timesheet(IDNUM,TimeIn,TimeOut,HoursWorked) values (123 , 2005-07-15 13:20:06.062 , 2005-07-15 13:20:06.062 ,0)
    the code is as follows:
         <%
         try
                SimpleDateFormat test = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-MM-dd hh:mm:ss");
                Timestamp stamp = new Timestamp(System.currentTimeMillis());
                java.util.Date date = new java.util.Date();
                String sql = "insert into timesheet(IDNUM,TimeIn,TimeOut,HoursWorked) values (" + session.getAttribute("IDNum") + " , " + stamp + " , " + stamp + " ,0)";
                Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
                Connection cnxn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:odbc:EmployeeSystem");
                Statement stmt = cnxn.createStatement();
                 stmt.execute(sql);
                response.sendRedirect("employee.jsp");
         catch(Exception dberr)
             SimpleDateFormat test = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyyMMddhhmm");
             Timestamp stamp = new Timestamp(System.currentTimeMillis());
             out.println(dberr);
             out.println("insert into timesheet(IDNUM,TimeIn,TimeOut,HoursWorked) values (" + session.getAttribute("IDNum") + " , " + stamp + " , " + stamp + " ,0)");
         %>please help.
    The reason that i need the timestamps in there is that i am creating a time clock program for my school that they can put on a intranet so thier hourly employees can use instead of the current manual system they use.

    even better would be to use prepared statements and set the fields via Timestamp objects.
    String sql = "insert into timesheet(IDNUM ,TimeIn ,TimeOut ,HoursWorked ) values (?,?,?,?)";
    Statement stmt = cnxn.prepareStatement(sql);
    int idNum = (Integer)session.getAttribute("IDNum").intValue();
    Timestamp stamp = new Timestamp(System.currentTimeMillis());
    stmt.setInt(1, idNum);
    stmt.setTimeStamp(2, stamp);
    stmt.setTimeStamp(3, stamp);
    stmt.setInt(4, 0);
    stmt.execute();It makes your code much more portable, as you don't have to worry about the database having a TO_DATE function with that syntax.

  • Premier Elements 12, Inserting Photos into timeline, using transitions, inserting music

    I have just recently switched from Premier Elements 8 to 12, after discovering that "expert" looked allot more like what I was used to I have been able to start a new project. However, I don't consider myself to be an "expert".
    That said I have a few questions:
    I used to be able to insert photos and rearrange them in the "sceneline", I do not see that feature in Premier 12 so am using the "timeline" that is there. However I cannot insert photos or move them around easily, I get my clips reducing in size. How can I insert new photos or move them?
    Transitions seemed to have been reduced greatly in the availabilty of them, have they "gone out of favor", I had put a transition inbetween all of my clips in my previous projects with 8. Allot of them were merely the "wipe" feature. What is recommended with 12?
    I have not gotten to adding music to this project however have noticed that there are allot of different styles available. However I want to be able to add my own music, can you give me tips on "how to do that", would I just go to the "add media" and get them off my computer and than add it to the audio line?
    Thank you ahead of time.

    I am not sure why these photos should be reducing in size. It should be the same thing as in your older version, that is, as you hold down the Alt key of the computer main keyboard, with your mouse cursor drag you new file into place in the Timeline. Some people like to use the Ctrl key instead of the Alt key. I prefer the Alt key.
    I prefer the Expert workspace rather than the Quick in version 12, but you can still move the images in the Quick Filmstrip spaces with a click and drag, left or right as appropriate. So, I am not sure what you ran into in the Quick workspace in that regard.

    There are lots of Transitions under theTransition Tab when you are in Expert workspace, much less in the Quick workspace. This is what you should be seeing in version 12/Expert workspace/Transitions
    This is what you had in version 8.0/8.0.1 under Wipes in Timeline view.

    Same as before. Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets (if Expert workspace). The Quick workspace does not have that "intermediate" Project Assets. So, it is Add Media/Files and Folders/ and direct to a scene space in the Filmstrip. If you  have iTunes music, it may have to be converted to .mp3 or .wav (again same as before).
    However, if you are a SmartSound soundtrack user, the SmartSound feature is gone in version 12 which has it counterpart, under Audio Tab, of Music Scores and Sound Effects which end up on the Timeline as .wav files. If you have the old SmartSound soundtracks, they need to be converted to .wav and then the Premiere Elements 12 Add Media/

  • Insert Node into XML using XPATH

    Hi,
    I'm having problems inserting a node into a XML. After getting some attributes from the CRC result i'd like to store them in a temp xml variable.
    After that the parent node of the attributes should be inserterd in a goal XML with a repeating node structure.
    Whats the right way to set a node to a certain position in the goal XML?
    Now the only thing i'm getting is erros about transaction:
    Caused by: javax.resource.ResourceException: Transaction is not active: tx=TransactionImple < ac, BasicAction: a307d1e:fd15:4d35c503:1351f50 status: ActionStatus.ABORT_ONLY >

        at org.jboss.resource.connectionmanager.BaseConnectionManager2.allocateConnection(BaseConnec tionManager2.java:396)
    Etc..
    Thx!

    You can always append new nodes which has a unique tag name (this won't get overwritten).
    Which means, each time when you add a node, it should have tag name which has not already present within the same parent node.
    Later you can replace the tag name with the actual name by using XSL transformations.
    I've tried this in one of my project and worked fine.

  • Inserting Timestamp INTO messages.

    I know how to view the timestamp on Messages on the iPhone. I know I can swipe and see that.
    I want to have a timestamp INCLUDED in my messages - so that people receiving messages from me see the time stamp of when I wrote the message, not when they received it.
    One friend (not an iPhone user) swears I send text messages at 4am, because that's when his phone decides to grab them from the ether. I need to have the actual messages timestamped with the time I'm writing them!

    No, there isn't.
    take a screen shot of the messages from from your phone and send to him.

  • Using Crystal 2008 to insert records into a table

    Hi,
    We have a unique need to use Crystal to insert records into a table. We have managed to test a report that can write into a temporary table.  This is done by using sql command object  and uses  the following code :
    INSERT INTO TEMP_TABLE  (ORDERID)
    VALUES ({?orderid})   (-- where orderid a parameter).
    This test report asks for an order id and then inserts the record perfectly fine.
    Now moving on to the real report - This report basically prints orders in batches and we want to insert order id into a temporary table to ensure we don't print orders that were already printed. To do this we created a sub report "insert orders" that has the above insert command. The main report passes the orderid to subreport and the idea is that the subreport would insert each time an order is passed. So if main report printed 50 orders ids, the then it would do 50 inserts individually into the temp table.
    This however is NOT working. The report runs fine but there is no insert.  Our hunch is that  Crystal is not committing after every order id is passed from the main report.  Not sure if we can set the AUTO COMMIT ON  as a default somewhere?
    Wondering if any one has attempted this or has any insights?
    Regards,
    Mohit.
    Environment is - Crystal 2008 and Oracle 11GR2, we are using Oracle drivers (and not odbc)

    Hmmm... I don't use Oracle but the syntax looks good...
    You've already tested it and I assume that you are using the same driver in the production report as you used in the test, so that shouldn't be an issue...
    how are you pulling the data? Is the final SELECT statement that pulls the report data in the same command as the INSERT script, or is the INSERT script in it's own command?
    The reason I ask... If you are trying to pass a multi-valued parameter to a command, it won't work. If you have the insert command as it's own command while the data is being pulled with linked tables or a separate command, it is possible that the report itself will execute as expected w/o passing a value to the insert script.
    If it's all in 1 command (as it should be), a bad parameter would fail in the final SELECT causing an error.
    Also... are rows null or empty string values being added to table when the report executes? This would be an indication that the command is being executed but isn't getting the parameter value.
