Inserting automatic time field in forms

I know how to add a date field, but I would also like to add a time field.
I have used the following javascript in the page properties of the page containing the date field
var f = this.getField("Today");
f.value = util.printd("mmm/d/yyyy  HH:MM tt", new Date());
And I am able to get the date but the time field does not change from the time when the form was first created.
Any help ???

Not that I can see.
Is the form being reset or cleared?
Do you need to know the time the page was opened or the PDF opened?

  • Automatically displaying date and time in a date/time field on form initialize

    Good day all;
I am trying to have the current date and time automatically be generated in a “date/time” field when the form is opened.
I went through the forum and found an entry from Srini “ xfa.host.messageBox("" + Date());” . Of course this brought up a system message box with the date and time.
I then tried “DateTimeField1.rawValue = (“”+date())… This also gave me a system message box with the date and time…
Please let me know where I am going wrong

Found the answer... And yes... in was in the "help" section... What can I say I was making it a lot more crazy than I needed to.
You can use a date/time field to automatically show the current date by using the Runtime Property option in the Value tab of the Object palette.
When using a current date field, the date updates to reflect the system’s current date each time a user opens the form.
    1.
In the Library palette, click the Standard category and drag a Date/Time Field object onto the form design.
    2.
In the Object palette, click the Value tab and select Calculated - Read Only from the Type list.
    3.
    Select the Runtime Property option.
    4.
View the form in the Preview PDF tab.

  • How to show a time field in a form portlet

    Hi,
I am not familiar with PL/SQL and I was wondering how I could show a time field on a form portlet.
I have a date column in my database that stores the time and date together, but I do not know how to separate them into date and time fields. I also do not know how to concatenate them when a user inserts a new record, or how to query on a date alone.
At present, the user has to type the date and time following this format mask hh:mi am DD/Mon/RR
I also have a problem with one of my hidden id fields. I have set the default to a sequence.nextval (#qtc_app.seq_visitor.nextval) and then hidden it since
it is irrelevant to my users. However, I can no longer use the query function since the sequence is always generating a new value. How would I only generate
a new sequence no. when a user inserts a record??
    Thank you!
    cheers, Kim

    Hi,
Each colunm in the form has a format mask associated with it. For the date column make the format mask like this DD-MON-RR HH.MI. This will show the date along with the hours and minutes.

  • How to create a Date or time field that automatically saves current date or time?

    hello,
i want to know that how to create a Date/Time field that automatically shows current Date/Time when .pdf form is opened.
also want to how to stop user to give input in Date/Time field
currently im putting a Date field but it is accepting user input.
    hoping for quick response
    Thanks in advance!

You can place the below code in the initialize event of the field to display the current date and time.
    Set the language to FormCalc.
You can play around the formats to get the desired format of date and time.
if($.rawValue eq null or $.rawValue eq "") then
    $.rawValue = Concat(Num2Date(Date(), "MM/DD/YYYY")," ", Num2Time(Time(), "h:MM:SS A"));
    endif
You can not restrict the input area in Date time field instead you can validate the input while existing the field.
(OR) set the field to either readOnly or protected mode.
    Thanks

  • How to prevent an automatic fill in of the current date into a Date/Time Field

    hi,
maybe i checked out a strange behaviour of the adobe designer. when i put a "normal" data/time field (with no data pattern, display pattern, etc.) on a form and then change (on the pdf preview tab) to the newly designed date field,i have to stay about 2 minutes on this field not filling it out.
after these minutes the current date is filled in automatically in the date/time field.
what can i do preventing that? any hints?
    thanks in advance.

  • How not to insert a Date/Time field on INSERT

hi all, i have a MSAccess table which has a lot of fields one of which is a date/time field......
when i run the SQL code to insert values into this table i want the date/time field to be left blank.....
i have tried to insert a blank space using '' but it shows the error
SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Data type mismatch in criteria expression.
does anyone know how i can overcome this problem.....?

    that worked thanks a lot,
the values are inserted into the database now but i still get an error

  • How do I add a time field to a dynamic list and form?

I'm trying to create an update form that logs when an action was taken. Among the fields are one for the date and one for the time, but I've not been able to get the time field to display or enter data correctly.
I've set the time format in the ADDT preferences (database date and time format is yyyy-mm-dd and HH:mm:ss and screen format is dd/mm/yyyy and HH:mm). When I create the list or the form using the wizard, there is no option to display the field as a time.
In step 3 of 4 in the Dynamic List Wizard, the 'Display as' options are: text, numeric, double and date. Choosing date for the time field gives me a display as though it was a date (I get '00/00/0000'). I have the same problem with generating a Dynamic Form in that there is no option to display a time, only a date.
Am I able to do this using the wizard, or is there another way that I'm, missing? Thanks for any help.

If those date/time fields are only needed for logging purposes then follow Günter's instructions.
If you need to be able to edit those two fields and have their values displayed properly then there are several steps you should take.
First open the page that uses the Dynamic List behavior and make sure that all date and time fields are configured to display as dates. Then open the page with the dynamic form and click on "Manage Dynamic Form Wizard" in the Developer Toolbox. Configure your date and time fields to submit as dates. Then go to the Server Behaviors panel and double click on "Validate Form". You should now have 3 date/time options available under Validation Format: Date, Datetime, and Time. Configure each field as needed.
This will ensure that date and time fields are saved in the proper format so that when you view their values they will be displayed properly, that is dates will be displayed as dates and times as times.
There are also several additional server formats available that are accessible through the Bindings panel that you might want to experiment with.

  • Insert / Update of a TIME field using Native SQL

    Hi Oracle gurus,

Many thanks in advance. Best regards,

    Hi
There is no TIME datatype in oracle. There is only a TIMESTAMP or DATE type or the field is VARCHAR2 as most date fields in a SAP database are. To help you we would need the real field type. If possible you please do a desc <owner>.<table> in a sqlplus session and give us the field type.
If possible also supply the error you get.

I've not heard of an Oracle TIME datatype; we used to use the timestamp which is stored as part of the date or we set up a separate column to hold the time defined as CHAR.  Still, it is possible that they have created such a thing since I last did SQL.  In which case, there would have to be a function like TO_DATE which you would use to convert your time to its time format.
If you mean TIMESTAMP you can use something like the following to do the data conversion.
    TO_TIMESTAMP(LOCALTIMESTAMP, 'DD-MON-RR HH.MI.SSXFF')

  • Countdown timer in adobe form from a field and pop-up warnings

I have created a form in adobe livecycle and I would like to add a Countdown timer that clicks off when a user enter's a time. I need the countdown timer to be 2 hours from the entered time. The user will have 2 hours to complete the form. I need warning boxes that will pop up at 30 minutes and at 15 minutes. If not completed in the 2 hour time frame from when the time was entered then the form will prompt to close.
I have found where the timer starts from the start or stop button but I would like it to start from when the time field is excited.
I am new to form scripting and any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

Do you mean the JavaScript methods setTimeout(), clearTimeout(), setInterval() and clearInterval() ???
I don't think these methods will work within Adobe LiveCycle forms.

  • Pdf forms auto fill time field

I need to have the time field auto fill with the current time when creating a new form.  I have looked hard but I just keep finding information on the date field.
I appreciate any assistance - using adobe xi

Each area where you can enter data into a PDF form in the normal view or non-Form Editing view is a field object. Each one of these fields has a name to identify that area or object form other form fields. If the names are the same the fields then those specific fields share many of the same values, the most important is the value of the field.
This is an issue that needs to be addressed by the form's creator.

there is no case of auto removal of lookp entries. I am sure some how it is deleted either by Design console or imported Lookup.USR_PROCESS_TRIGGER with old values. Don't worry It won't be deleted automatically.
