Inserting image in video clip

How do I maintain the original soundtrack of the video clip and insert a photo with transitions on either end of the insertion? I can achieve this procedure with success without the transitions but as soon as I try to add the transitions the audio of the original video clip goes out of synchronization? Is this possible?

Welcome to the discussions.
Most (but not all) transitions uses footage from both clips. For instance, a one second transition uses 1 second footage from clip A and overlaps with one second from clip B, making the movie one second shorter.
So it you make the still two seconds longer than the clip you remove, you can add two one-second transitions and wind up with the audio in sync.

• E71 Gallery Images and Video Clips

Hi there,
last night I discovered that I am now no longer able to view any images or video clips in Gallery. I had taken some photos over the past few days in various conditions to test the camera out. I went back in to review, which I was able to do only days earlier and now it just sort of hangs and no images are displayed. I can exit out, but it wont show even the preinstalled images. The same thing happens with video clips.
Has anyone else came across thie problem and/or have a solution?

Nokia phones are unable to play MP4 files, or any other video file with the exception of Real Video files. The video file MUST be packaged thru Real Player. 1 of 100 MP4 files will play, but typically the phone CANNOT even see that the MP4 file is on your memory card.
The issue is a problem with the firmware on the phone, You can view the MP4 files on all phones and all computers, but not Nokia. Nokia is history, yet they keep building phones that look new and have new features, but they only work with antiquated files formats. Furthermore
the features that actually work are typically crippled by patent infringment issues.
The Nokia suite will not work with windows. Typically Nokia suite will open and freeze. Again a software issue totally ignored by Nokia, because selling a new phone is not contigent on making all the features work. They proudly list the features on the package, but for the most part the features you paid for are not going to work correctly, and most often not at all.
To get a video file to to work on the E71, your best bet is to take the loss, throw the phone in the garbage and by a different brand. If you insist on getting videos to play on the E71 disaster, make sure to run your files thru Real Player and convert to a '.RV' file. The format is ancient, but they will work most of the time. The file size is massive compared to todays standards as well, so buy a massive memory card, but remember the E71 has a tiny limit of 8 gig. You can then use file manager on your computer to transfer the files to your memory card on the phone. DO NOT try to use nokia software with Windows to transfer files, simply put, you will waste hours, and in the long run it will work about 10% of the time at best.
Nokia has been on the brink of bankruptsy for a while, and it will not be long now.

• Problem inserting images over video

Hello,
I have a had a semester of using FCE4, but we did not learn much on inserting images. I can insert the image to show over the video/audio, but I cannot get the background to be black. It shows the photos on top of the video and the video shows as the background. Please help! I have searched the manual and our class textbook for answers, but cannot find any.

You can do it in the Viewer or Canvas.
Switch on Image+Wireframe in the Canvas.
Place the playhead on the still and select it in the Timeline.
You should see an X across the Canvas.
Drag any corner to fill the Canvas.
Set the Canvas to Fit to Window before starting.

• Slowing down or expanding a video clip in iMovie for iPhone 4

Is there a way to expand a short video clip in iMovie for iPhone 4? I can expand a still image, but not a video clip. I would like to take a video clip that lasts 2 seconds and expand it to 15 seconds or longer. The video clip could be slowed down.
I can do this with still images, so I would think I would be able to do this with video clips. For example, when I insert a still image it defaults to 2 seconds with the ken burns effect. I can then expand or shorten the still image to last as long as I want (from 2 seconds to 10 seconds, for example). However, when I insert a short video clip I am not given that option. When I grab the crop button and try to expand the video clip it stops at the end of the clip.
Any suggestions?

Thanks Joe, hopefully Apple adds this feature to iMovie soon.

• Video clips in PDF created from FM12 file won't play in Reader 11 or Acrobat 9

I have inserted several short video clips into a small manual created with FrameMaker 12 (all mp4 format). Book file is saved as a PDF. When I open the PDF in Acrobat 9 or Reader 11 and click on the icon for any of the videos, I see only a black box. When I open the same PDF in Reader 10, the clips all play just fine. What do I need to do to make these videos play in current versions of Reader. NOTE: I have Reader 10, Acrobat 9 Pro Extended, and FrameMaker 12 running on my computer.

I have had this same problem myself with most Open Type fonts. It's very irritating, because it seems like most of the new fonts are being issued exclusively in Open Type.
I have developed a work-around, which you can attempt at your own risk.
Purchase the software FontCreator (I use FontCreator 5.6 Home Edition). It's not very expensive.
Open the problem font in FontCreator, and save it with a different name. In the process of saving it, the font will be converted to a TrueType font. Install the new version of the font. In my experience, you can then successfully use the font in Pagemaker, and convert it to a pdf.
This is not a perfect solution because there will be a *very* slight diminishment in the crispness of the lines of the font -- but this is only visible when the font is magnified to something like 6400% in Acrobat. It is not visible to the naked eye, or at least not to my naked eye.

• Capture Pictures/Images from Video

Hello All,
I am just getting warmed up in these forums here. I wanted to know if you could capture still images from video clips and if they are Kodak clear. I have a couple of family videos that I would like to have pictures taken from and framed. Does anybody know much about this?

<[email protected]> wrote in message
news:[email protected]..
> Thats interesting. I had talked to a representative from Adobe and I was
> told it would be crystal clear of a photograph! That includes after the
> image being deinterlaced...

It will be "clear." However, the clarity of a picture is a function of the
original video and the resolution. Standard definition digital video is 720
x 480 pixels for a total of 345,600 or, roughly, 1/3 of a megabyte. This is
very low resolution compared to what a good digital still camera can
produce, i.e. 4-8 megabytes. A high-definition frame will contain 1,920 x
1,080 pixels, totaling 2,073,600. A 2 megabyte frame will produce a
reasonable 4 x 6 photograph.

• Black between video clips

I'm trying to insert black between video clips and can't seem to find the option to do so. I've tried inserting a text in black with a black background, but it just outlines it. I tried inserting a 10 sec 'fade to black' transition, but you can't insert anything into that 10 seconds. The only thing I can think to do is to film in a dark room or with the lens covered and to import that.... does anybody know what I can do? Please help!!
thanks~

Open the transitions menu (the square icon with 2 triangles to the right of the "T" (type) icon. All menu icons are located just below the right corner of your movie window. The music symbol, camera symbol, etc...
Choose the Fade to Black and drag it between the clips where desired effect should be. You can even double-click the transition once its placed into position and adjust the amount of fade time.
Hope this helps

• Importing video clips into iphoto

hi,
is it possible to import video clips from a digital stills camera into iphoto? haven't had much luck doing it, can anyone help?
thanks
nick

Hi nick,
When iPhoto 5 first came out I really think it was programmed to import the smaller 30 sec video clips that cameras were taking at the time. Since then, digital cameras, at least my Canon S2 can take clips as large as your memory card can hold. The first time I tried to download my images and movie clips with my new camera, iPhoto stalled at the movie clips. I wasn't going to take any chances messing up my iPhoto Library so I started using Image Capture to download all my images and Movie clips. I actually like doing it this way a lot better. My movie clips are downloaded into my Movies folder where I then put them in a dated folder.
My photos are downloaded into my Pictures folder, where I then put them in a dated folder. I import the dated folder into iPhoto. I also keep all dated folders from photo downloads in the Pictures folder till I get enough Movie folders and Photo folders to fill a DVD. I burn them and then delete them from the hard drive.
This way I have the photos in iPhoto and I also have just the photos backed up to DVD.
The Movies I keep on the hard drive in their dated folders until I use all the clips for my iMovie projects for the Year. I then make sure they are all burned to DVD, then I delete those from my hard drive.
Using Image Capture to download images and video clips:
Open up Image Capture which is found in the Applications folder.
When it is opened, go to Image Capture/Preferences
Under the General button choose
Camera: When a camera is connected, open Image Capture.
The next time you connect your camera Image Capture will open.
In the window that opens you will see an Options button. Click on that button to set your options.
To find out more about Image Capture (it can do a lot more) Click on Help in the menu bar when Image Capture is open.
iPhoto: How to Change the "Open Automatically" Preference
If you find you can't change any of Image Captures preferences or can't access any drop down menus or they are greyed out, check to make sure Image Capture is loose in the Applications folder and not within a sub folder.

• Canon Ixus 50 video clips and iPhoto5

I have a Canon Ixus 50 with a 1Gb Sandisk SD card.
If I use it to take video clips, iPhoto will import them up to about 40 seconds in length, but anything longer than this is not imported. Can anyone tell me why, surely the file size is not too big?

• Can I insert separate still images as background to a video clip?

Hi! I'm fairly new to video editing. Can someone tell me if it is possible to edit a video using Final Cur Pro X to include whatever images I want as the background to a person singing in a video clip? If so, how? Thanks!

read the advices for the several options of 'Keying'(luma, color, …) in the Manual:
http://help.apple.com/finalcutpro/mac/10.1/?lang=en#ver40b0069e
btw: green-screen is drop-dead-simple in FCPX, for a school project we're using the worst green screen ever (un-even, shrinkles, bad/no lighting, diff. greens etc) - and it's working like marvel!

• Can anyone help me figure why there is a popping sound when I move from an iphoto still image to a new video clip? The sound has been removed from the video clips and there is another soundtrack underneath it all. Help?

My current project is like many I have created in the past. I have removed the sound from my video clips and laid another soundtrack under the entire project. Now, when I add an iphoto still image to the project, when it goes back into video there is a popping sound. I've never had this happen in the past and have made many projects in the past just like this one. Any way to troubleshoot this issue? Thanks so much for your help.

Thanks for the follow up.
Missing in this equation were the version of Premiere Elements that you were using and the computer operating system on which it was running. But...
The deed is done. But.....Until now and after you went ahead and moved to version 12, we now learn what version of Premiere Elements you were using. We still do not know the computer operating system involved.
You just said Premiere Elements 10. Premiere Elements 10 is hit by a serious known display issue if the computer uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card/graphics card. In this issue, the only remedy is to roll back the driver version to about May 2013. The description of the problem and how to do the roll back are described in one of the Announcements at the top of this forum. What video card/graphics card does your computer use?
On another front, Adobe will be releasing a new version of Premiere Elements any day now. No one but Adobe knows the feature set for the new version. That type of information is announced at the moment of release of the new version.
So the remedy to the problem that you presented in this thread could have been...
1. Rolling back the NVIDIA GeForce driver version to about May 2013 if possible (Windows 8 or 8.1 64 bit, may not be possible)
2. Move to another version of Premiere Elements (which you did)
I offer the above for consideration so that you can review your decisions. We are pleased to learn that Premiere Elements 12/12.1 works for you.
Please do not hesitate to ask questions and ask for clarifications, but remember that the answers are in the details.
Best wishes,

Is there anything i can do in fcp to make this footage more reliable or safer or more stable as i pull remotely from iphoto?

• How to extend audio from a video clip over an adjacent still image

I'm in iMovie 11. My project looks like this: video A, transition, still image B, transition, video C. I want the sound from video C to start playing while still image B is on the screen. I tried following the iMovie 11 help instructions for extending a video clip's audio. I click on video C and open the precision editor. From there I can grab video C and move it back so that it overlaps with the still image, but all that happens is the still image still shows up, without sound, and video clip C starts in the middle. The help instructions seem to indicate that I should be able to drag only the audio and make that overlap the still image, but it's not happening. Either the video and audio move together, or nothing moves.
When I try detatching video C from its audio, I just end up with a big mess because later the audio and video don't synch up.
What am I doing wrong?

I am having the same challenge... any tips here would help me out in a big way. I recorded my boss tdoing a training session and now I would like to have the powerpoint slides change as necessary - but I want the audio to remain. I would love to just get the slides to change rather than back to full before bringing up the next slide. Jim, if you come up with anything, let me know. I have VC2 pro.
