Inserting MP3 file to play on one page of a website

How do I or what do I need to do in order to have an MP3 file play on just one page of my website when that page is opened? Thanks.

Incidentally, your <!DOCTYPE> declaration specifies xhtml but your code isn't xhtml, which has various strict requirements about lower casing all your tags and attributes, and many other arcane things. I suggest using an HTML doctype instead. The most modern one is the simplest:

Most browsers are pretty forgiving of wrong doctypes, but just in case.

Earlier i was able to download mp3 files by pressing on link for some time and menu popus up "Save link as" but after recent update that option is gone.
That option is desperately needed.

Inserted FLV files not playing in a published project.

The issue: Inserted FLV files display (play) when previewing a project but not in a published project.
My setup: Windows XP and Captivate 5
Questions:
   1) When in Filmstrip view only the movie playback bars show, not an image of the actual movie, is this correct?
   2) When I preview a project for the first time, the FLV files display (play) in Preview mode, HOWEVER, any time I preview the project after that, the movies do not play.
   3) When I publish a project, the inserted FLV files do not display (play), they only show the movie playback bars.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Oh yeah, all the files are in the same directory.

Hi,
Can anyone help with this problem.
I am trying to change a text cast member's color dynamically
based on which audio file is currently playing.
I have 4 Text Cast member buttons named
Play Song 1
Play Song 2
Play Song 3
Play Song 4
I am successfully playing the 4 songs in a queue like this
(ie. If "Play Song 1" sprite text member is pressed then...
sound(1).queue(member "Song1")
sound(1).queue(member "Song2")
sound(1).queue(member "Song3")
sound(1).queue(member "Song4")
sound(1).play
What I would like to do is to have the currently playing song
text color changed to a different value, say Green.
So if "Song2" in the queue starts to play then the text "Play
Song 2" would become Green. When done it would then turn back to
black then "Song3" starts to play and "Play Song 3" text script
button would then turn from black to Green an so on.
These are the codes I've tried in the frame script and none
seem to work...

I thought I had it when I discovered sound(1).member but
sound(1).showProps returns the playing sound.member as

One page of my website ranges left

One page on my website runs down the left habd side in a line, the page functions as it would normally in that the slideshow works when clicked on and the menu work when clicked i seem to have tried everything, redoing the page etc. It happens on the latest version and the older version

It happens in firefox and only when I it says Ads or Advertisement in the menu (I know it sounds implausable but i have done many times) you can see it in the menu i have tried in the example i have created for you this has happened in all the versions of muse

Mp3 files not playing

I am designing a site using DW CS3 on PC and have various mp3 files embedded as follows:
<embed src="../beef_audio/animal_care.mp3" width="270" height="30" autoplay="false"></embed>
When I upload my files to the server and link using the url the files play fine on both Mac and PC.
But when I preview in browser as I build the site, windows media player shows up but the MP3 file doesn't play.
I am hoping to put the site on CD as I need to run it with no internet access next week so I put all files onto a memory stick and tried that out.
All the other files (inc images) are fine but still no luck with the sound files. However when run the file from the memory stick on the Mac,
the browser calls up quicktime and the sound files run ok.
Any advice - much appreciated

It works for me in FF and IE on XP with QuickTime plug-in. The end user's default MP3 player is the one that will launch. If your client doesn't have an MP3 player and plug-ins installed, they won't be able to hear the audio.
If you want to appeal to a wider audience, consider using a Flash MP3 player. Flash players have a wider support on win/mac systems.

How do I transport an MP3 file to play elsewhere

I'm trying to save MP3 files of a national talk show host- Bruce Williams, in a way that I can play these files in the car. Each of these files is 1 hour long and somebody in the forum said that I could only get 1 hour saved on each CD, which is right. He also said something about being able to save these files in a way in which they could be played on an MP3 player. In that case I could get 10 hours. I really no nothing of MP3 and was wondering if somebody could help with this. Is there a device that could play these files in the car, so that several people could hear at one time. Is there a boom box or portable player. Also how do I get files from my Mac to the player? Thanks for your help.

MP3 is not a type of disk, rather it is just a type of file that you would burn to a regular CD (using iTunes or Toast or the Finder). The MP3 files take up less room than regular audio tracks on a CD. But they are burned to a CD in the same way (using your computer's CD burner). As mentionned above you have to make sure you have an MP3 compatible CD player to play them in. Most new portable CD players will do this. Just check the packaging - playing MP3s is an advertised feature.
Edited to add: you could also skip the CD burning route altogether and buy a disk-based MP3 player, such as an iPod. You would then transfer your MP3 files (or other types of music files) to the device using USB. You would then listen to the music through headphones, or through your sterio speakers or your car speakers (accessory cable needed).

External hard drive copying mp3 files to play on tv

ive looked all over the internet but i cant figure out why my tv doesnt recongise the mp3 files on my external hard drive.
i tested it with one album that was mp3 and it worked but, now that i have copied all my mp3 files to the hard drive and tried to look them up on the tv there is nothing in the folders of the albums?
im not sure if its because i had all my music in one folder and transfered it to my mobile phone. then delted the original foler.
i then took the folder back off my mobile and onto my mac then onto my hard drive. wouldnt that be the cause of the problem?
im using a mac and i have formatted my hard drive to ms-dos(fat32)
and my tv manual tell me it plays mp3 files.
any help would be very greatful.

How do you convert an MP3 file to play in iTunes.

I followed the directions in the Technical Support Section and when I highlight the file and click on it, the advanced tab doesn't allow you to highlight the "convert" option since it only appears in light grey. Any suggestions?

Ok. Are you sure that they are .mp3 files? In iTunes, highlight one of the offending files and Get Info. What does it say on the Summary tab next to format? Does it say MPEG-1, Layer 3? If yes, it's an .mp3 file. If not, what does it say. If it really is an mp3 file, opening it with Quicktime. What happens? If it's an mp3 file, it may have corrupted tag information. iTunes is rather sensitive to that. You can try going to the Advanced menu in iTunes and selecting Convert ID3 tags.... I'd choose version 2.4 and see if that helps.

Some .mp3 files not playing in itunes?

I can't seem to play some of the .mp3 files in itunes 10 that I was able to play before the upgrade. For example in the rip I have of The Beatles - Abbey Road 2009 Stereo Remaster, only 3 of the 17 tracks can be imported into the itunes library. When I try to import the missing .mp3 files it won't even add them under the abbey road album. And it won't play either. The missing files play fine in windows media player, quicktime, vlc media player and others. What's going on with this new itunes update? Thanks to anyone that can help out.

I have the same problem here in Belgium/Europe after upgrading to iTunes 10.
About 10gb of 310Gb in total is not readable anymore. I use only mp3 320kbps.
You can still find them back in iTunes, but no playback anymore.
I have deleted them from the list and do a "add to library". Impossible to import this data anymore.
What is strange is that this mp3 data can be used in QuickTime Player.
And..the same data is not readable on a another (Windows 7) pc with iTunes 10, neither on a pc with Vista and iTunes 9.2.
Who can help ??

Any ideas why I would be having this display issue on just one page on my website?

Firstly, the webpage URL that is in question is http://crawford3d.businesscatalyst.com/maya-models.html.
The issue arises only when I publish the site and this is my second attempt to fix the issue. The first page was created with anchors that pointed to 7 embedded videos from youtube. The problem was similar where the page was sliced and the location of the videos where changed. I'm using the same master page for this page that I'm using for the other pages, so I'm thinking it is something to do with just that one page. My attempt at a fix was as follows: I used a composition lightbox to embed the videos so I could just click on the thumbnail to view the videos individually: however, the problem must not be with the method I'm using because I'm getting the same sliced display on the page. As you can see on the page a preview of the videos are also being displayed which is not supposed to happen when using a "lightbox". Please Help!! Thanks

In one of your embedded Youtube videos HTML, you have a number of closing <div> tags, and a closing <body> tag. That will be causing the display issues you are seeing. Might just be a copy/paste issue, but removing those should fix your problem.

i have a public website but want to make one photo page password protected so i can test the images out with select friends (artwork). is this possible or is password for the entire site only?

No. But you can create a second site with those photos, protect it and link to it from your public site.
You can even have the page of the protected site appear in the navbar of your public site this way:
1 - create and publish the protected site
2 - in your public site create a blank page and name it for the protected page.
2 - add an HTML snippet with the following code to the blank page:

When a visitor clicks on the link in the public site they will be immediately redirected to the protected site/page. You can add a similar blank page to the protected site to send visitors back to the public site.
The Contents page of my demo sites (3 of them) are setup that way. I only have to edit one page (in the Contents site) instead of the Contents page of each of the three demo sites. Go to this page in Demo_1 (Embedtests) and click on the Contents link. Watch the URL field as you're taken to the Contents page.

New to DW - One page of my website is double width.

I have just started using Dreamweaver and downloaded one of my websites to work on www.battleofbritainminiflight.co.uk and the Shows page is twice the width of all the other pages. Can anyone tell me why and show me how I can make it the same as all the other pages of the website, I am tearing my hair out, what little I have left.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Missing doc type sends pages into Quirks Mode. To fix this in DW, go to Modify > Page Properties > Title/Encoding. Choose a doc type that's compatible with your code: Probably HTML4 (transitional) since you're still using Tables for layouts.
In addition, you should get rid of all that white space in your code.
Commands > Apply Source Formatting.

How can I insert the file name automatically on all pages?

I would like that on all pages of my keynote presentations the file name is inserted automatically in a footer as eg in EXCEL and Word.

Can't insert mp3 files into Keynote 6.2.2

I have a Keynote '09 presentation that includes audio (mp3s) and video (mp4s). When I opened the presentation in Keynote 6.2.2, it was converted, of course. I got several error messages about mov files not being able to be converted, though I have no mov files in the folder or in the presentation. The audio is gone from the presentation and when I try to insert an mp3 I get a message saying "The movie 'movie name.mp3' couldn't be inserted. The operation could not be completed." No explanation, and the only option is OK. I tried both dragging and dropping the audio, and doing Insert->Choose.
The mp3s play fine outside of Keynote.
Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

Keynote 6.2.2 running under Mavericks 10.9.5 has serious problems with video and audio compatibility. On my older G5 I thought this might have been a RAM issue, but I recently upgraded to a MacBook Pro with 8G RAM. Problems are the same and even worse:
1. If I insert a newly downloaded MP4 file onto a Keynote 6 slide it will play without a problem. If you close the file or perform a save, the MP4 will freeze and refuse to play.
2. Converted .mov file to the new H.264 codec sometimes play once on a Keynote slide, and then freeze, but playing directly through QT is not a problem.
3. Randomly, some converted .mov video files never have a problem when inserted on a Keynote slide while others refuse to be inserted or to play properly--with absolutely no consistent pattern.
This is immensely frustrating and has cause me to revert to KN 5 when I have a presentation with a lot of video clips--just to avoid on-stage embarrassment. And the production design quality of KN 6 is great so having to go back and forth between 5 and 6 is a huge hassle.
Apple needs to fix this pronto for its KN power users. It is a mess.
