Inserting two records at the same time.

Hi all,
I have to check for concurrency in my application. My problem is that i cant use locks to implement it. Instead i need some logic which has to be handled at the back end that is oracle 10g so that when two records are inserted into the table, only one that came in earlier gets inserted.
I need some logic to do so...Dose any one have some ideas.

Use a Sequence as a surrogate (primary) key.
What do you mean by "only one that cam in earlier gets inserted" ?
What if there are 3 sessions attempting an insert ?
Session "A" came before Session "B" and you reject Session "B".
But, hey wait ! Session "B" came before Session "C" , so now you
have to accept Session "B" and reject Session "C".
How do you determine the "earlier" ? Do you use Date dataype or
a Timestamp datatype ?

Insert multiple records at the same time to table

My page has,
1. MessageStyledBean showing a foreign key(say FID) that is passed from previous page.
2. Advanced table, showing 2 poplist in each of its column, named poplist1 and poplist2.
3. I have a primary key which should be populated in sequence, i am not displaying it anywhere inthe page(is this right and fine).
4. I have 'Add another row' button in my advanced table.
5. I have apply submit button at the bottom of my page.
So for the same FID at the same time, a user can add multiple rows of poplist1 and poplist2 values using Add another row. Once the user clicks Apply, say after he assigns 2 rows to the same FID in the same page at same time, 2 rows with same FID, different primary ID(in seq), with selected poplist values should be added in the database table.
I have no clue of how to do this. Pls sombody help me out in doing this.

1. In EOImpl, you can override create(AttributeList nameValuePair) method and set the primary key and FID value.
This will be called for each row creation.
you can do
getOADBTransaction() .getSequenceValue(String pSequenceName)
to get teh sequence in EO.

Can we use both INSERT and UPDATE at the same time in JDBC Receiver

Hi All,
I would like to know is it possible to use both INSERT and UPDATE at the same time in one interface because I have a requirement in which I have to perform both the task.
user send the file which contains both new and old record and I need to save those in MS SQL database.
If the record exist then use UPDATE otherwise use INSERT.
I looked on sdn but didn't find any blog which perform both the things at the same time.
Interface Requirement
FILE -
> PI -
> JDBC(INSERT & UPDATE)
I am thinking to use JDBC Lookup but not sure if it good to use for bulk record.
Can somebody please suggest me something or send me the link of any blog or anything to solve this problem.

          If I have understood properly the scenario properly,you are not performing insert and update together. As you posted
"If the record exist then use UPDATE otherwise use INSERT."
Thus you are performing either an insert or an update which depends on outcome of a search if the records already exist in database or not. Obviously to search the tables you need " select * from ... where ...." query. If your query returns some results you proceed with update since this means there are some old records already in database. If your query returns no rows you proceed with "insert into tablename....." since there are no old records present in database.
Now perhaps the best method to do the searching, taking a decision to insert or update, and finally insert or update operation is to be done by a stored procedure in MS SQL database. A stored procedure is a subroutine available to applications accessing a relational database system. Here the application is PI server.   If you need further help on how to write and call stored procedure in MS SQL you can look into these links

    Still you might face some problems while your scenario runs. Lets consider this scenario, after the stored procedure searches the database it found no rows. Thus you proceed with an insert operation. If your database table is being accessed by multiple applications (or users) other than yours then it is very well possible that after the search operation completed with a null result, an insert/update operation has been performed by some other application with the same primary key. Now when you are trying to insert another row with same primary key you get an error message like "duplicate entry not possible for same primary key value". Thus you need to be careful in this respect. MS SQL has a feature called "exclusive locks ". Look into these links for more details on the subject

    There must be other methods to avoid this problem. But the point is you need to be sure that all access to database for insert/update operations are isolated.

How to make this two things at the same time ?

Hello
When my mouse is on a area, I need :
- to show a object (a rectangle inserted with the toolbar)
- to show a caption
I think it's not possible to do this two things at the same time when I use the rollover functions (Rollover caption or Rollover Image).
I would like to use a button, but the button works only if I click it, and not when I just pass my mouse on it.
Someone have an Idea?
I can't use Javascript.

Rick is correct. You can use the Rollover Slidelet's rollover area to trigger an Advanced Action. You'll need to create this Advanced Action with two clauses. One to SHOW the caption, and the other to SHOW the rectangle.
Your alternative to the rollover slidelet is to use an Event Handler widget attached to the object that the mouse should roll over.
The Event Handler will detect when the mouse is over the object and trigger its own Success criteria. You can then use the widget's ON Success event to trigger the Advanced Action as mentioned above.

16 channels of audio recording at the same time with a MAC BOOK?

Hi,
I want to know how many channels of audio I can record at the same-time with a MAC BOOK (2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 1GB memory 120GB hard drive, Double-layer SuperDrive), firewire audio device and Logic Pro 8?
You see I am aiming to record a live gig and I want to come into a firewire recording interface with 16 channels of audio all at the same time (24-bit, 44Khz) Does anyone know if this is possible? Or am I looking for trouble? No plug-ins will be used just record straight in. Anyone have some experience with this?

Ok, like this:
Macbook - FW Port - FW Cable -In- MOTU Traveler -Out- External Harddrive.
Firewire is capable of chaining units.
Also plugged into your motu traveler will be an optical cable coming from the ADA.
This will carry the 8 channels of audio it outputs.
Also another good thing to do is to also have an optical cable FROM the optical output of your Traveler into the Behringer's input.
That way you can sync the Behringer's digital clock to that of the Traveler, giving you a slightly better sounding signal that if you were to sync the traveler to the Behringer. This is simply because the traveler has a better quality digital clock than the Behringer unit so it's best to use that. To do this you just select "Adat input" on the back of the Behringer, and leave the Travelers sync to "Internal Clock". It is only a very very slight difference and you may not be able to notice the difference but for the cost of an optical cable it's worth doing.
It will all make a lot more sense when you have the two units and the harddrive all plugged in.

One solution i read !!!!! was to create through keynote a countdown clock, to export to quicktime move and to imported at iBA predefined widgets. of course this is not the solution i need.
So, in order to have at the same widget and run together a count down clock and a preview test (20 questions) i must
1)"hack" the preview widget and insert a countdown clock
2) create a preview test using iAD.....

Thanks for your reply. I fond a way to do this although this is not copy/paste.
1. Open "iMovie Projects" folder and find the project that contains voiceover file
2. Right click and select "Show Package Contents"
3. Drag and drop "Voiceover Recording.aiff" file to a project I want to copy/paste
In this way you don't need to use iTunes or other software to move around audio files.

I need to write a program in LabView that is capable of testing two parts at the same time.
Explanation:
I star the test on a unit, once all the electrical test is done move that unit to the pressure test without loosing the current test information and continue the test of the unit thewn generate a serial number only if it passes all the test. Then while the previous unit is going thru the pressure test star testing another unit for the elecrical test and so on.

I want to have my laptop next to my desktop. And while I render, export or whatever my newly shot documentary on the laptop I want to work with a music video project on my desktop. Then when the render is finished I render the music video and go back to the laptop and continue on the documentary. Or maybe I just work 5 minutes on the desktop music video, then come up with something brilliant for the project on the laptop and switch. Back and forth. Will that kind of activity result in any kind of limitation, usage-wise?
So, working on Premiere on my two computers at the same time.. is it possible? Technically? I know the EULA says "only one person". But will it let one person mutli task?

Yes in case of Creative cloud subscription you are allowed to install and use the cc apps in any two machines.
Even if you want you care allowed to use these apps together in both the machines.

Can I access two websites at the same time?

Does Dreamweaver have the ability to open two websites at the same time?
I basically have a CMS hosted on one server, that connects to my clients sites on other servers. I want to be able to open files on one server and edit them and also edit files on another server at the same time.
If this isn't available in Dreamweaver, then I think it should be. I often need to copy code from one page in a site to another page in different site. To have the ability to have two windows open, each connected to a different website server would be invaluable to me. By having separate windows, each can have its own server connection. I don't know how easy that would be, but I'd love it!

You can only connect to one site at a time. And you need to edit files locally, save & then upload to the remote server. AFAIK, no single FTP app is capable of connecting to more than one server at a time. You might be able to do what you want with DW open and an additional 3rd party FTP client like Filezilla, each connecting to different servers.

Not that I'm aware of. What exactly is that you want to achieve? There are tools for scanning media folders and adding any files not listed in the library, or deleting those that no longer exist. There are also ways to use one library for multiple users so that any tag update gets applied for everyone.

One way to start them is with an Invoke Node and the Run method. You can then stop them with the Set Control Value [Variant] method. When you use the Set Control Value [Variant], you just have to specify the name of the front panel control that stops the while loop. Older versions of LabVIEW only had the Set Control Value method in which you had to use the flatten to string function to pass the Type Descriptor and Flattened Data.
