Inspiron N5050 owners name - how to change

It's time for my almost daily stupid question. I have a Dell Inspiron N5050, I'm the original owner (bought new at Best Buy in 2012). I had the hard drive replaced under extended warranty and now under Users (when I go into the files on the hard drive) it lists "owner" instead of my name. How can I change this? I know that this may be something that the powers to be on this forum may not want out there (it could help change identification of stolen computers), so if this is the case I give permission for whomever has the answer to email me directly. Thank you in advance.
BTW, I did a Google search and I couldn't find an answer to this other than some forums don't want to list the answer for the reason I gave above. If this forum doesn't allow this type of information to be given out, I understand and I'll live with being "owner" on this laptop.

Hi,
Thank you for reaching us.
We shall change the name in the "User Account" setting which may help us resolve this issue.
Open User Accounts by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking User Accounts, and then clicking Manage user accounts.
Click the account that you want to change, and then click Properties.
Type the new name, and then click OK.
Please refer the link incase you need more info http://bit.ly/1GG0VNF
Feel free to revert back for any assistance required.
Thank you

  • Kuler user name - How to change?

I'm sorry if this question comes across as impertinent. Given
the great tools that the kuler team has given us, why would someone
    agonize over a user name?
Well, I do have a desire to change my kuler username and I
can't seem to figure out how (my reasons are for pure vanity sake).
I've updated my Adobe ID account, I've searched for a profile tab
kuler and still haven't found a way to do it.
Does anyone know how, or if, this can be done?
    Sincerely yours,
    Un-kule No Direction (is) Obvious

I'll second this request. For some reason the kuler site is
taking the first part of my email address as my username instead of
my name from my Adobe ID. My email address starts with macromedia,
so, apparently, I am macromedia on kuler :)
Not sure if that's how it behaves for everyone, but if so I'm
sure this will mean duplicates at some point.
Also, the kuler icon that displays next to the username seems
to be the first theme you save. It would be much better if we could
    choose this.
There is also no way of duplicating a theme, which would be
great when you want to have similar colours to do comparisons,
    etc.

  • Login name appears as full name - how to change to short name?

My user name for login on previous versions of OS X always appeared as the "short name". Since I installed a fresh copy of Snow Leopard, the user name in login boxes appears as my full name instead. How do I make the short name appear instead? (I'm a bit OCD, otherwise I'm sure it really doesn't matter...)

I still don't know whether it's because of the server connection, but I re-installed SL on another Mac on my network - and it did it again. Initially, when I do the install, the account I create shows as Admin. After a couple of reboots, though, it invariably becomes "Admin, Managed" - and the parental controls are turned on.
The fix is easy, as suggested above:
= create a second Admin account,
= log out of the first account,
= log in as the new Admin account,
= remove the Parental Controls checkmark from the first account,
= log out of the new account, and
= log back into the first account.
Irritating to have to do, but the Admin setting seems to stick after this process. You can delete the new account once you have fixed the settings on the real Admin account.
If your issue is a little different than this, you might want to go ahead and start a new thread. Since this one is marked answered, it might get little notice.

  • Defalult copy name - how to change...

How can I get LR 2.1 to name virtual copies differently? It automatically sets to "copy 1". I'd like it to be something elso by default.
    Thanks

    >I'd like it to be something elso [sic] by default.
Why? What advantage do you gain with a different default? How would you use this copy name?

  • Email account name how to change

When I send an email from my blackberry the recipient sees "Dear Account User" as the Sender instead of my name...how can I fix this?

Thank you.  It is a personal phone, so yes I am using BIS.  I have my email with sympatico (Canada) and its the same email address I use on my desktop.  In settings (setup) it shows my email address and then user Name as my name..yet when I send an email it reads "Dear Account User" on the incoming mail "From" line.  Very frustrating.  I have reinstalled the OS.

  • How to Change the Visible names in JDBC IView ?

While Creating a JDBC View, in one of the steps we select the column names from a schema which we want to view in a IView. While doing so in the next step there is a text field called <b>visible names</b> which is editable to change the column names. How to change the Column aliases or visibles names as is it not getting saved when we move onto the next screen ?.How to Configure the Visible Column names while configuring a JDBC IView ?.
Can anybody please help me !.

    Hi Abhilash
If I'm not wrong I saw something about this here (SDN), in a technical article about how to create a JDBC iView . I tried to get the link to the article but it seems there's a problem with the site, sorry...
By the way, I had the same problem, and according to the   article this was not possible in the version EP6 SP2 but there was a plan to implement this in newer versions. I tried also to use a SQL command with the column names I wish to display but it didn't work either.
Try to find this article in the EP Technical Article to confirm this info, ok ?
    Rgds,
    Fernando

  • How do i remove previous owners name

I just bought a used iBook G4,and I want to remove the previous owners name, how do I do it?

Hi, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
    You can try the following:
Press the Cpmmand + s key during startup. This takes you to Single User Mode, where you will see a command line.
Type this when the command-line prompt (>) appears:
    mount -uw /
    rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
    shutdown -h now
When the iBook restarts, you will be presented with the setup screen. This allows you to create a new account, being sure to give yourself administrative privileges. You can now use this new account and set it to log in automatically with this new account if you don't want to be bothered with the login screen every time you start up.
    Good luck!

  • How do I change the artist/owner name for my podcast?

How do I change the artist/owner name for my podcast?
For eg, a podcast has 'The Ricky Gervais Podcast' and underneath 'Ricky Gervais'. I can't see where to change the latter. I can't change that through our podcast host Libsyn.
    Is it done through iTunes?
    Jack

You can't change anything in iTunes: all infomation is carried in the feed, in this case in the 'itunes:author' tag. there will certainly be somewhere to enter it but if you can't find it you will need to contacts Libsyn; or quite possible Rob Walch, who works for them and posts here, will see this question.

  • Just purchased used ipad. how do i change owner name on it?

just purchased used ipad. how do i change the owner name on it?

Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Contents And Settings should put the iPad back to factory settings, and you should then be able to associate your account id with it (Settings > Store) and you can give it a new name when connected to iTunes on your computer (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3965)

  • I just bought a used macbook pro 15 unibody, and would love to know how to change it's name from "previous owner's macbook pro" to "my macbook pro". Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Then you need to obtain them from the seller.  It is illegal (according to Apple) to sell Macs without the system discs that came with it.
You can get replacement System Discs from Apple's Customer Support - in the US, (800) 767-2775 - for a nominal S&H fee. You'll need to have the model and serial number of your Mac available.
If you're not in the US, you may need to go through the regional Apple Store that serves your location to find the contact number. Here's a list of links to all of those -
